(I decided to make this into a trilogy. This is the final part in my series about Laguna and Squall that takes place during the game. Some people know about the secret dialogue on the Ragnarok where, with the help of Kiros and Ward, Laguna sort of tells Squall the truth. I'm using that, but adding a little more emotion to it. Mwaha!)

Laguna felt his leg cramping up as the young SeeD approached him. Squall, his son, whom he only just met, was coming up to speak with him.

"Love and friendship sounds corny," Squall said of Laguna's plan to get to Ultimecia's world, "but everyone seems to be up for it."

"Do you think it will work?"

"I don't know, but we'll have to try."

Squall turned to join his friends back in the cockpit, but Ward stepped in his way. The much smaller young man looked up at him, a questioning look in his eyes. Kiros spoke up for the vocally challenged Ward.

"Ward says, 'Good thing you don't look like your father.'"

Laguna's eyes widened. What the hell were his friends trying to do? He could tell Squall was equally confused.

"You look very much like your mother," Kiros continued.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Squall questioned.

Finally, Laguna decided to speak up. "Let's talk when it's all done. I have a lot to tell you."

"Oh my God." It finally clicked in Squall's mind what they were trying to tell him.

"Well," Laguna tried to continue, "if you don't want to hear it, I'll understand."

"I don't believe this." Squall shook his head. "How can you be my father?"

After a few moments of silence, Kiros said to Ward, "Now's not the time for those kind of jokes."

"I'm the baby Ellone told me about!?" Laguna was hoping Squall wouldn't freak out, but his reaction wasn't looking good.

"You can't be my father." Squall looked away from him. "You just can't."

"Squall-"

"No, Laguna Loire!" Squall's voice had raised considerably. "How dare you expect me to believe that you are my father when you have never bothered with me my entire life?"

"Honestly? I didn't even know I had been a father for seventeen years until Ellone told me a few days ago."

Squall fell silent, but anger was still plastered across his eyes. Laguna looked down at the floor.

"Why don't you two worry about this later?" Kiros suggested. "We DO have those sorceresses to take care of, and this would also give you both some time to think about things."

"Fine." Squall turned and stalked out of the passenger deck. Laguna looked after his son with sad eyes. Kiros placed his hand on the President of Esthar's shoulder.

"It'll be all right, Laguna," Kiros assured him. "Once everything settles down and you talk to him, everything will work out."

"I hope your right," Laguna sighed. "I hope your right."

(Well, what do you think? I'd prefer positive criticism over flames, but feel free to say your honest opinions... I thought about writing an afterwards thingie [ooh, such vocabulary] where Laguna and Squall talk [or yell], but there are already a considerable amount out there.)
