The man within

He is the man with the million faces,
he is the man with the devilish grin,
but, which of the faces is really the man,
and why did the man let the Devil in?

His profession is death and he kills with a smile,
but is the smile just a face, just a shelter to hide?
A shelter to save the man within,
a fortress so that the Devil won't win?

The man within is crying to be free,
a cry that was heard when Cleopatra rocked,
a cry that was music and a question for love,
a cry that was silenced by the Devil, by he.

Will the shelter forever trap the man within,
behind a wall of faces and a shield of hate?
Or will he break free from the Devil's chains,
and be loved for the first time, what will be his fate?

That I know now, and dare not make a guess,
the Devil must be beaten by the man within,
His final kill and then he'll be free,
free from the Devil, to be the man, to be he.





And...no, I did not mean that he had to kill dear ol' Mac to be free, if anyone thought that.
After writing it, I saw that it could be interpreted that way, but that was not my intention.
