Leonard McCoy used to be a household name. He was one of the golden ones, a Jaeger pilot, loved by all and untouchable, until he lost his co-pilot. Now he's out of the game, or so he thinks until the past comes knocking and drags him back. He's not looking for redemption, just a good fight before he goes out. One battle tore everything from Spock. Vowing to never again pilot a Jaeger, he devotes himself to improving the drift system. Years later, he is pulled from his research to once again fight; this time with James Kirk, a cadet none thought could drift.
