Actually a missing scene from the TOS-set book "Captain to Captain" in the "Star Trek:Legacies" series. Somebody reveals a secret that makes Kirk physically ill.

A colony ship called the Ulysses goes missing and the Enterprise is asked to assist in a rescue mission. Dr. McCoy also feels like he needs to be rescued- from himself. Spock/Bones (Spones?)

It's not that good people can't be wrong. We all do imperfect things, out of ignorance or carelessness or just because we can't help ourselves. What sets the good people apart is how they live with it after. Or: if there's no such thing as perfect harmony, perhaps the imperfect kind will do as well.

Kirk and his crew race against a violent clock, caught in a mysterious alien's battle that continuously threatens the first officer's life. There is some explicit swearing and violence. Elaan of Troyius would not take lessons from Captain Kirk that were very much needed for diplomacy between two planets. Being a brat, she fought him at every turn. That is until she bit him. A little retelling

This is a tribute to Checkov It cannot be exact on the time of his death as my story is an original to the series. I have placed Kirk and Spock on a peaceful mission with the Romulans which takes place over a year from the first movie, at which age Chekov was seventeen I did approximate his age to be 19 at death.

Kirk and Spock's relationship is fulfilling. Even more so when an unexpected surprise follows Spock's first Pon Farr. Per usual with my pics, lots of Bones being an overprotective dad figure.
