One of my fabulous betas, Harmony Bites, requested a Lori Ciani fic where she's not a villain. I loved that challenge and this is the result. I wanted to really dig into what this woman would have been like, what would have appealed to that Jim Kirk, at one of his darkest periods. Lori's not canon, so I picked and chose what I used of her fanon backstory. Still taking requests.

If there is an actual story behind Saavik's birth, I'm sorry, but I was struggling to find a topic to write about.
