What If?
"Augusto, where are you going?" Auggie's mother asked.
"I'm just going out ma... me and Abe will be back later." Auggie and his brother Abraham walked out of the house with a backpack full of spray paint.
"Augusto you get back here now!" His mother yelled sternly from the door as he climbed into the car. She stood there worried for her son as the car sped away.
"Yo, Auggie man, you got a Latina asking for you over there meat." Chino said. Auggie glanced over his shoulder and saw Katrina walking towards him.
"Hey what's up?" He said to her.
"Come with me." She said. She took his hand and he grabbed his backpack. They walked for about 15 minutes before they found an blank wall and a limo."
"I hear the president is coming down here. Think that's his ride?" Katrina asked looking at the limo. Auggie pulled out a can of paint and started tagging the wall."
"Nah, why would he stop here?" Auggie said. He finished the wall and started on the car.
"You could get in trouble for tagging that." Katrina warned. Auggie looked at her and pulled her close. She grinned as she took his face into her hands and kissed him.
"HEY KID!" Someone yelled and a light was shined on them. Auggie and Katrina looked up.
"It's cops, Katrina run." Auggie ordered. Katrina took off down a dark alley. Auggie distracted the cops. It was two of them. They took off after him. Auggie ran down an alley. He looked back and the cops were gone. He grinned and chuckled as he stood to catch his breath. After a minute he turned and ran into the cops. They pushed him against a wall and read him his right. Then they cuffed him and put him into the car.
"Yo man these cuffs are hurting their to tight." Auggie complained.
"They always are. Watch your head." The cop said as he put Auggie in the car. "That was one crazy thing you did. Tagging the president's limo? You got guts kid." They took Auggie down to the station. He got to call his parents and they came down to the station.
"Augusto what were you thinking? We don't have the money for bail. You know that." His mother said.
"Ma its ok, my court day is in two days, I'll be fine." He said.
"No it's not ok. What you did was just stupid." He father yelled.
"Poppy calm down." Auggie said.
His parents left and Auggie spent the next to days in jail. He thought it was the longest two days of his life. Finally his court day came and he was ready.
"Augusto Ciceros, what you did was brave and stupid. How do you think the president feels about your little prank." The judge question.
"Hey meat that wasn't no prank that was art." Auggie argued.
"It doesn't matter what it was, it was still stupid. Your files show that this is your third arrest for tagging. You have been set with a warning and probation. I wish I could do the same for you. I'm sorry that I cant. You can't go around unpunished for your crimes. You will be sent to juvenile hall until the age of 18. Case dismissed." The judge ordered and left the building.
Auggie's mother broke down in tears as his father tried comforting her. The cops took Auggie away as he watched his friends and brother leave the courthouse and the pain on his mother's face.
