The heart of a wanderer do I have.
A beast to tame, a past of shame,
Much have I to atone for.
My feet take me from place to place,
Helping those in need along the way,
But never long do I stay.
Many nights the stars shine down
Only to light my lonely path
As I stare silently ahead of me.
Into the night the ghosts float
In front of my weary soul,
Dyed in blood that I had spilled.
A sakabatou at my side,
It's heavy weight made lighter
By my promise.
Never will I kill again.
Never will I take another's life before my own.
An innocent's beating heart I stilled,
An innocent who I never meant to harm
Yet did so a thousandful over.
My pain for hers.
My life for hers.
She taught me how to live
In a world free from bloodshed and darkness.
This she taught and this I learned.
The purity of her soul,
The dark depths of her eyes,
She gave all that she was to me.
My life has she changed with her gentle hands.
The smell of white plums linger in my head,
Even after her departure so long ago.
As I wander on, searching for redemption,
Her smile will breathe over me forever
Into eternity.

: 'sakabatou' is a reversed-bladed Japanese-style sword. the single sharpened side usually located on the far curve of the sword is not there but rather on the straighter edge.
