Slow Midnight

You lay here in my arms and tell me what I like to hear.
You only lie because you know the truth is what I fear.
The very lips that kiss my own are now deceiving me,
So now, it's clear, my love,
I fear it's time to set you free.

You lay here in my arms, to you serenity's what I bring,
My only hope, I'll break the rope that binds me to this thing.
The thing is fear, the lights go out and I succumb to pain.
The night is back, tis false, not fact when my lover doth utter my
name.

Though love, I know, is like midnight slow, eventually morning will
come,
Feel the light that will bring my escape from this thing, as my heart's
beating like a drum.
In watching you sleep, it is hard not to weep for the things that
this love gave, alas,
With a kiss, I leave you.... not the kindest adieu, I will cry while
each second doth pass.

The light proved to bring my escape from this thing; now my soul
and my heart are as one,
Though, love, I know, you don't want me to go....

Eventually morning will come.
