Hermione and the Make-Over
Chapter 1
Hermione woke up one morning feeling tired and angry with herself for being who she was. She hated her look, her body, her habits, her know-it-al mouth, bushy hair, and teeth! She absolutely hated it all! "Ahh!" she screamed. She didn't realize that there were two other people in the room with her, that were sound asleep.
"Hermione?" Lavender called groggily. "Is that you?"
Parvati yawned, and said, "What's all the hub-bub about?"
Hermione jumped out of her four-poster draped with high pink curtains and screamed with rage. "I hate myself! I want to start all over! I wish I didn't act like me or look like me! I ha-ate me!" then she broke into wild sobs.
Suddenly, Lavender and Parvati were wide-awake. The two looked at each other and grinned mischievously. "Lavender," Parvati said.
"Huh?"
"Do you still have those tiny outfits you wanted to get rid of after you gained all that weight?" Parvati asked.
"Hey!" Lavender said, offended. "Sorry, no offense," Parvati called back, already too late.
"Yes, I still have them, but I don't want them not because I gained weight it was because-- er-- I didn't like them?" Lavender said in an unconvincing tone.
"Come on girls," Parvati said, leading the two in the bathroom. "We've got a make-over happening here!"
Lavender and a sniffing Hermione followed her.
An hour later, Hermione came out of the bathroom not looking like Hermione at all. Hermione smiled at her reflection in the mirror. "I like this better,' she said.
"Ooh!" lavender squealed, "She even thinks and talks differently now! Hermione, you look so gorgeous! I mean I knew you were skinny, but not that skinny."
The three walked out into the Gryffindor Common room to show the boys Hermione's new look. Dean and Ron were playing wizard chess and Harry, Seamus, and Neville were sitting in scarlet armchairs near the fire deeply occupied with a lively conversation about Quidditch. However, busy or not, all five boys stopped what they were doing and just stared ahead.
"Er-- are you a new student?" Ron asked stupidly.
"No--impossible!-- but is that Hermione behind all that make-up and that skimpy little rag that you're wearing?" Harry asked with disbelief.
"Don't be stupid, that's not Hermione!" Neville said.
Hermione grinned slyly. "I'm not?" she asked. All five of the boys' mouths dropped. None of them could think of anything to say.
Hermione looked at her out-fit and wondered if it was a bit skimpy. She was wearing a short little red dress with yellow and pink flowers on it and it was sleeveless. She had a glittery pair of platform shoes that made her look much taller and Hermione felt like she was wearing at least a pound of make-up. Her hair… the two girls had did something to Hermione's hair making it the opposite of big and bushy: long, straight, and a little thin. But the girls didn't stop there. They then cut Hermione's hair-- while Hermione screamed, "No! No! Not my hair!" and while Parvati said, "Girl, trust me, this is your look!"-- And gave it a layered look and then they gave it highlights, making it look like her hair was sunkissed. Yeah, Hermione had to admit, she looked good.
"Wow, Hermione! You look awesome!" Seamus Finnagin said. "Thanks," she replied, absolutely beaming. She never had this kind of attention directed towards her. It was always directed towards the cuter girls-- like that bitch Cho Chang.
