Chapter 1:

"In this late breaking news, the notorious Two-Face has been brought to justice by Gotham City's resident vigilante, Batman. Two-Face, once the former beloved district attorney known as Harvey Dent, attempted to initiate a gang war which would split the city in half. While I have not been able to get any kind of official comment from the Gotham City Police Department, I will have more after the weather."

Los Angeles, a city of glamor and glitz, and a city which had been far away from the problems of Gotham City. And yet, not too far away from the heart of one particular young man. Richard Grayson, Dick to his friends and also to his enemies in a different sense of the word, the first man to hold the moniker of Robin, the sidekick of Batman. These days Dick went underneath the name Nightwing when he stalked the night. He had found himself in this more peaceful town, although there were still some mysteries to be unraveled. Still Los Angeles was a different town than Gotham City or Bludhaven, or any of the other cities.

Off in the kitchen, a very enticing sight moved around. Princess Koriand'r, or Starfire as she was known to the world at large, moved around in a scantily clad apron which showed off her glorious body. She might as well be wearing nothing at all given how one gasp of wind would rip her apron in half.

The smell of the food coming from the kitchen reminded Dick that Kory most certainly improved her culinary skills.

"Breakfast will be served in a few minutes. And once the table is cleared, that it could be used for its other purpose."

Dick just smiled. That was life with a nymphomaniac alien princess. They worked, fought crime, and fucked, which was not a bad life to live. And they were the only two in the house, given that their roommates were currently doing other things.

"Well, it smells wonderful. And not just the chef."

"Well, I have been striving to make improvements," Kory said. "I hoped it would not smell like burnt tires like the first time I tried to cook."

"Practice makes perfect."

Words to live by. Dick stretched and half watched the grainy video footage of Batman taking out thugs. Old man must be getting soft, considering he used to avoid any video camera footage. But, given that he was part of the Justice League, who was very public, the cat was out of the bag.

A knock on the door caused Dick to perk straight up and look at the door.

"Were we expecting any guests?"

Dick shook his head at Kory's question.

"No, Kara, Donna, and Barbara weren't supposed to come back until at least Monday."

"Today is Friday?"

"Yes," Dick said. "I wonder who it could be."

Dick answered the door. Kory quickly slipped herself into a tank top and some jeans, which was a distinct change with how she acted when she first came on Earth.

The door opened up to reveal Kory's older sister. Princess Komand'r, Blackfire, had most certainly been just as beautiful as her sister, although had brought a bit more trouble wherever she went.

"Komi?" Kory asked. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, hey, baby sis, how are you? I'm good, I just decided to drop by and say hello to my favorite sister and her….well the two of you are still lovers, right?"

Komi reached forward and started to stroke Dick's bicep until Kory shot her sister, one of those looks which got Komi to stop.

"Okay, I'll stop stroking Dick in front of you."

The naughty older sister shot Dick a little wink. Sometimes, Kory said things, although not as much recently, that could be taken as innuendo. More in the old days when she had been getting used to having a grasp on English. However, these days, she had been mostly fine.

Komi always seemed to have a bit better grasp on the language than her sister, and when she said something off color, Dick suspected it was deliberate.

"You must be still together, because you are living here, right?" Komi asked.

Kory folded her arms underneath her chest and gave Komi a look which would even make Batman envious.

"Komi. Cut the crap. What are you doing here?"

Komi shook her head. Earth had made her baby sister a bit more cynical than she used to be.

Nightwing frowned and heard some buzzing over the top of his head. Slowly, but surely, he turned around and could see something hovering over the other side.

"Well, I'm going to have to hazard a guess and say it had something to do with those."

Drones hovered in the air in front of them and they seemed to target Blackfire.

"I don't know what mess you have got me in but…."

"Relax, sis, we can take care of this!"

Starfire and Blackfire took to the sky. One of the drones fired a miniature rocket at Blackfire, which destroyed the mailbox outside. Which Nightwing just painted not even a week ago. Well, it was going to need more than a paint job after it was done.

"You should not come to our house uninvited!"

With that scream, Starfire bombarded the drone with a beam of light and knocked it out of the sky. A huge crash echoed outside when the drone was down.

Nightwing pulled out a portable computer and locked onto the frequency of the drones.

"Kory, keep them off of me. I'm going to disable them."

"Good plan, because there are likely more coming," Blackfire said.

Blackfire hurled the garbage can at one of them. And there went the garbage can when it got blasted into dust. Blackfire dodged around the air and Starfire leaped onto the back of the drone. She did her best to obscure its line of sight and caused it to fire in the most erratic way possible.

She jerked it away from Dick and the drone crashed down to the ground.

Sure enough, three more were on the way, but Nightwing locked onto it. The drones froze out in mid-air and then they all settled down to the ring. Nightwing sent a jamming signal, to hopefully stop any more from passing the atmosphere of Earth.

"Inside!" Kory snapped.

"Sis, you seem a bit miffed?"

"You destroyed our mailbox!"

"Well technically the drones destroyed your mailbox. Yeah, technically, I suppose I lead the drones to your front door, but hey, at least you don't get bills any more, right?"

"It doesn't work that way."

Nightwing decided to put himself in between the two sisters. It would not be the first time they got into some conflict that led to a fight. And not the first time Dick had to slide between both of them to calm their nerves.

"So, you set up a mini-Batcave in the basement? Always knew you were a genius."

Kory calmed down, a little bit with a good cup of coffee. Of course, Komi tried her nerves, by shamelessly hitting on Dick. Which, normally Kory did not mind, but given the circumstances, she kind of did mind it, because Komi was trying to act like it was not a big deal that drones which she led here blew up their mailbox and wrecked the yard outside.

"It does the job," Nightwing commented. "Give me a minute to figure out who the drones are and what they're doing."

Starfire and Blackfire locked eyes with each other. After a calming drink of her tea, Starfire asked the question.

"What did you do to get drones sent after you?"

Blackfire shot Starfire an innocent look which Starfire did not buy for a second.

"Technically, I didn't steal anything. I just stole something back from the people who stole it from us. From our people, you know from Tamaran. Because, while you were off playing do-gooder on Earth, our planet was being invaded by pirates."

A ding erupted on Nightwing's scanner.

"Well, this little drone belongs to Kanjar Ro. A long time enemy of the Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps, and an all around asshole. And likely he did steal it, so Komi was innocent. This time.'

"See, Kory, I can be a good girl sometime."

"Do you have it?" Kory asked.

Komi reached into a satchel and pulled out a green jem. It looked kind of dull and unremarkable, but appearances could quite frankly be deceiving. If years of fighting in Gotham City had told Nightwing anything, there was always a double meaning.

"So, what powers does it have?" Nightwing asked.

"Oh, it has no powers, or if it did, they have been used up," Blackfire informed Nightwing.

Starfire nodded and leaned in to examine the gem. It had been a pretty bauble to look at, but nothing out of this world to brag about.

"No powers, just a sentimental thing. I wonder what Kanjar Ro stole it in the first place."

"Don't know," Blackfire said. "I didn't have time to ask any questions to someone who wants to kill me for stealing what he stole."

That made Nightwing wonder. He had more questions, and he had a feeling one way or another, they were going to get to the bottom of this.

"So, about your sister?" Nightwing asked Starfire.

Starfire just frowned. Breakfast had been already ruined, and she hoped to salvage something of the day. Still, she came to the same conclusion she knew that Nightwing did as well.

"Well, we should let her stay. Until this blows over. It would be a lot better to have her here so we can keep an eye on her."

"I was thinking the same thing."

"We're going to have to keep her on a short leash," Kory said. "I wonder if Donna would let us borrow her lasso."

Both laughed and they stepped into the front room where Komi looked at the pictures of the other three women in the house. A blonde, a redhead, a brunette, so the entire set, which made Komi curious.

"You can stay here for now," Kory said.

"Oh, good, but I have a question. Are you in a collective partnership with these three babes? Or are they just friends?"

"Our relationship is very open to including other women, yes," Kory said.

"Well, that's something. I thought Polygamy was widely frowned upon on Earth, but I'm not one to condemn different lifestyle choices. Love who you love. I think that's politically correct right now on this planet?"

Komi looked pretty thoughtful and her eyes looked from the pictures to Kory and Dick.

"So, how did it happen?"

"Long story," Dick said.

"The most interesting ones often are," Komi said.

Kory had a thought in her mind. She moved in and whispered something in Dick's ear, which Komi could not quite pick up. Although the smile on both of their faces made her stand up in attention.

"You did lead those drones to our doorstep and wrecked our mailbox and lawn," Kory said. "If you're going to stay here, you're going to have to earn your keep."

"Mmm, you don't say?" Komi asked.

"We do say," Dick said.

"And it is tradition on this planet to pay tribute to the man of the house," Kory responded. "In exchange for being allowed to stay there. Certain favors will be exchanged, if you catch my drift."

Dick was pretty sure that was not a tradition, but Komi bought it. Or at least was willing to buy it, so she could get laid.

Well, Komi had no problem paying tribute. In fact the older sister wanted a piece of Dick since he was in green shorts and elf boots. She took Dick and the two walked hand by hand into the nearest bedroom to pay her rent.
