Hey there guys KartUzumaki here with a new story for you guys, this one is a GoT and slight Avatar crossover.
I have been thinking about this story for quite sometime now, if what would happen if Jon one day when Rob was in his Lord lessons and Ned was away during the Greyjoy rebellion learned how to meditate and during one of those meditation sessions he accidentally entered the spirit world and met The Dragon of the West General Iroh.
Meeting The Dragon Of The West
It had always been like this, Jon would wake up early in the morning, do his morning routine(which included washing his face, brushing his teeth, fixing his hair, and putting on his clothes for the day) and then break his fast with the rest of the family ( while receiving hateful glares from Lady Starks) than go for lessons with Robb to Maester Luwen after that they would part ways as Robb would have Lord lessons with their Lord Father and since he was a bastard he was not allowed to join him, at first he would wonder around Winterfell with nothing to do during that time Robb was off on his lessons but two years ago he started going to the Godswood and just doing nothing but sitting there in front of the weirwood tree to pray or just staring at it and think, one day after Robb had gone to his Lord lessons with their Lord father Jon had gone to the Godswood again to just sit there and look at it but this time instead of just looking at the tree he decided to do something different. Instead of just sitting there and looking at the Weirwood tree he decided to meditate ( something that he had learned about in a very old book from Yi-Ti which was translated by who he didn't know) it had said in the book that one had to sit still with their legs crossed over each other and close one's eyes, then you must breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. And so Jon did just that, at first he hated it and gave up easily on his meditation but over time he learned that all one needed was patience, which took time for him to learn ( a whole month really) but he learned, that was two years ago now he has been meditating every day since then, and it had helped him a lot over the years with his emotions on the days when Lady Stark decides to be extra hush on him or when Lord Stark ignores the husher things his wife does to him, it helped him come down.
But one day though Lord Stark was called South when the Greyjoys rebelled and had to leave to answer the call with his bannerman and when Lord Stark was gone Lady Stark became even more husher on him, so again he found his solace when he meditated, but today it was very different though, he had woken up and did everything as he normally did except when broke his fast he did it at the lower tables because that's apparently where "bastards" belonged at according to Lady Stark and after that, he had been barred from going to his lessons with Robb, so he had gone very early to the Godwood to meditate, he didn't know what it was about today but the moment he sat down and closed his eyes to meditate he felt a strong pull on the back of his mind, he felt a rush of wind like one does feel when riding a horse and than it stopped as if it had never happened, he opened his eyes very slowly to the most beautiful place he had ever seen the grass was green and there were these weird looking trees and even more shocking was that there flooting Islands which was something one doesn't ever see at all and there all kinds of animals that he did not recognize from book that he had about, there some that very strange like a rabbit that can fly or a bird that was as big as Lord Stark all of this really shocked Jon and the fact there was so much mire to see garentind that there was more to see.
"Where am I," Jon asked himself.
"You are in the spirit world" answered a voice behind Jon making quickly turn around to an old man with long white hair and wearing, green robs with a yellow outline, and they were held together by a green sash and over that he wore what Jon could best describe as an overcoat to his clothes.
"Wha-" was Jon's intelligent answer
The man chuckled at the dumbfounded look on Jon's face.
"You are in the spirit world my young friend," he said again conforming that Jon heard right.
His mind was racing who was this strangely dressed old man saying 'spirit world' what was that.? Wait and that is when it hit Jon that in one of the lessons with master Luwen they had talked about where the dead go when they die and even though he had not completely gotten or understand what the Master had said to him he still remembered him talking about how a spirit leaves the body when one dies.
'So does that mean that I'm dead, haha I guess that Lady Stark finally got what she wanted ' thought Jon with a bittersweet smile.'But that also means I won't see uncle Benjen, father, Robb, or Sansa again and I won't meet the baby' he finished sadly.
Iroh could see all the emotions play out on Jon's face, and he was shocked and sad to see such emotions in one so young, he didn't know what the boy had gone through but he was sure that nobody let alone a child should have that kind of face, having seen enough Iroh decided to relieve Jon of his fear.
"You are not dead if that is what you are thinking," he said softly catching Jon's attention.
"I'm not ?" asked Jon with hope and fear in his voice.
"No, you are not my young friend" Iroh answered feeling relieved to see those emotions leave Jon's face.
The young bastard felt happy that he wasn't dead and that he would be able to see his brother, sister, uncle, and father again, but also at the same time had mixed emotions about it because he would still have to deal with Lady Stark and her hateful glares, but then it dawned on Jon that if he wasn't dead then where was he.
Deciding that he needed answers as to where he is he asked the old man "If I am not dead then where am I, and who are you and what is that you are wearing and earlier you said that this is the spirit world what is that and how did I get here" he finished and had to take a deep breath after the barrage of question he just unleashed on the old man.
Iroh was surprised at the sudden shift the young man took in only just a few seconds not that he wasn't a little happy about it but the change on the boy was so sudden that you would think that the boy was bipolar but deciding to answer the boy's questions list he goes mad from the curiosity and not knowing.
"Well in the order of your questions you are in the spirit world, my name is Iroh, what is wrong with what I am wearing and as for the last one it will take quite some time to answer and if don't mind me asking who are you" Iroh answered Jon's questions in their order and then asked his own.
Jon was surprised to say the list as he didn't think the old man or Iroh would answer his questions, he was not used to that, I mean in Winterfell the only ones who ever answered any questions he had was his father, Master Luwen, Old Nan, or Uncle Benjen whenever he visited from the wall. So he was surprised that he answered his question and it took him some time to come process it but when he realized that Iroh had asked a question of his own.
"I'm Jon Snow" he answered somewhat timidly still in shock at the fact that Iroh had answered his questions.
"Well Jon Snow how did you get here," asked Iroh
"I don't know the last thing I remember was meditating in the Gods wood," answered the young boy.
"Mhmm" Iroh hummed as stroked his long beard and thought about what Jon just told him.
'Hhmm it sounds like he found one of the spiritually rich places but judging from his clothes and from the way he talks I don't think he is from the Four Nationals or anywhere near it, which means either, the boy accidentally found the gate to the spirit world or someone pulled or led the boy here and if that is the case who could it be and for what purpose could they have.', Iroh thought disturbed at the possibilities of Jon's presence.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by Jon's voices.
"Umm Lord Iroh where am I really," he asked as it finally dawned on him that he doesn't know where he was.
Iroh sighed at the sad and slightly fearful tone of voice in Jon.
"Well my young friend it is a long story," Iroh said and before Jon could ask another, the old man continued speaking"why don't we sit down and I will explain this place that we are in." He finished.
And so Iroh explained where they were and how one can get to the place that they were in, how there are gates to one can use to enter there physically, as well there way Jon himself got in by reaching a state of heightened meditation and how it allows one to enter the spirit world if one is in a spiritually rich environment. And when Jon what was a spiritually rich environment, Iroh explained that they are places that have high spiritual energy and how such places can be a doorway to the realm of the spirits.
When Iroh finished explaining it got Jon thinking if the way he got to this place and the fact he doesn't remember going through a gate(or seeing one for that matter) and the fact that the last thing he remembers is sitting in front of the weirwood tree to meditate... that is when it clicked to Jon ' Wait Lord Iroh said that one of the ways one can enter this place is if they meditate in spiritually rich places and I was in the Godswood of when I started meditating does that mean that I got in here through the Godswood because it's a spiritually rich place. Well, it's where the Old God's are said to be in.' Jon thought.
He sighed as he turned to Iroh and looked at him with hope in his eyes, "Ahh Lord Iroh is there a way to get back home for me?" he asked with a hope-filled voice.
"Well yes my young friend all you have to do is meditate like before but instead of clearing your mind think of home and you open them again you should be home." Answered Iroh
"Really!" Jon asked excited at the thought of being able to home. So he sat down and calm down from his excitement and being to meditate, Iroh stood there watching as Jon closed his eyes, calmed his breathing, and truly being to meditate.
I watched as Jon sat down and started to meditate it surprises me that such a young man can meditate so easily, and that is no easy task to do and I should know as it took me quite some time to get a handle on it and don't even get me started on Zuko.
But as I watch this boy I can't help but compare him to Zuko and Azula because truth be told he has a bit of both in him. The confusion and inner conflict are the same as Zuko but also at the same time the having a great amount of potential and a great destiny hanging over his head. And the fact that he has all that hidden anger and resentment also remains him of Azula but he is not as bad as hers. Jon's anger can be resolved if it is addressed early on and if one can address the root of the anger and resentment then it can be put to rest so the boy can achieve his true potential.
Before his thoughts can progress further he was brought out of them by Jon's sharp intake of breath as he looked around with a shocked expression on his face.
"I'm still here. Why am still here" the boy cried out as he looked around frantically.
I moved close to him and raised his hands in a calming manner " Calm down Jon, take some deep breaths, Jon in through the mouth and out through the nose" I advised the boy as he continued his frantic looking around.
The boy did as I told him and finally started to calm down, as he did I decided to ask him what happened "Jon what happened"
"I-I don't know I started seeing back home but I couldn't reach it, I could see myself meditating in the Godswood but whenever I tried to reach for myself it's like something was blocking me from getting back to my body." He explained with tears going down his face, even more, I was about to offer some words of comfort but I stopped as he continued talking. "And then when I tried to force myself back in the body it was like that invisible thing was there again but this time it was pulling me away, I tried screaming and shouting for help but no matter how much I screamed or shouting it was like nothing and no one can hear me." He finished as continued to cry even more.
I went up to him and hug him as I knew no amount of words I can say could comfort him right so I let him cry on my shoulder and let all of his anguish and pain out. He cried until he fell asleep, so I brought him back to my hut so that he could sleep comfortably it was the least I could do for him after the long and emotional day the boy had, looking at him laying there so peaceful you would never tell the amount of pain and hurt he just went through.
I stood up and turned around to go make some tea for myself so that I can process what had just happened, I was about to put the kettle on the stove but stopped as I came face to face with a white wolf and red eyes it looked at me and I looked back at it we kept staring at each then it turned and started walking away, it stopped a few pieces and turned around staring at me as if waiting for me to follow it, again we looked at each other then it looked at the road ahead and back at me taking the hint I followed it as it continued to lead the way to wherever it was taking me.
It took some time for us to reach a bone wait tree with red leaves and it had the most bizarre thing on it a face, and truthfully speaking I had seen a lot of bizarre things in my life and this was very up there.
"Greetings Prince Iroh, The Dragon of the West it is a pleasure to finally meet you."It spoke the tree spoke, I stood there for a second and just stared at it dumbfounded as the bizarreness continued.
"Ah did a tree just talk to me?" I asked myself as if except a response from said tree.
"Yes it just did." It replied to me.
"Oh, good at least I know that I haven't gone crazy," I replied
It laughed a little."No you have not gone crazy prince Iroh it's just a form that we take to reveal ourselves to mortals of our world," I was about to ask what it meant by that but it continued before I could get the words out."Now please let us explain everything and when we are done you can ask us any question that you may have at the end."I nodded as I was curious as to what they had to say.
And so they explained that they were God's of the world that Jon was from, and that they were the ones who opened the door for young Jon to come into the spirit world and that they also were the ones to close it behind him again I was about to intervene but I stopped myself as they continued as to why they shut the 'door' behind young Jon that he was their world's child of the prophecy the song of Ice and Fire, destined to bring the dawn and defeat the NightsKing. A being made of Ice and can control the dead as their undead army. After they were finished I stood there quiet and thought over everything they had said and the more I thought about it, the more questions I had, like do I fit in all this and if they wanted to protect Jon then why not let him know that from what little conversion I had with the boy he seemed like a very smart young man and the fact that he was able to learn meditation enough to get into the spirit world and that is not something very many people can do I mean some Avatars have had trouble getting into the spirit world in the past so yes Jon is smart enough to understand if they had explained it to him.
I sighed knowing that I won't get any answers so I asked" What was wrong with his home could you not protect him there."
"His home is not a very supportive one, they wouldn't allow him to grow and reach his full potential and by the time he does reach it while leaving there it would be too late and by that time the world would be lost, so no Prince Iroh his home is not an option, and there is the fact his uncle has mind our influence upon the North as a whole weighed at best so until that is resolved there is not much we can do in order to protect him." Their answer reminded me of how Zuko was treated by his father and sister but from the looks of it is a lot less than what Zuko went through and I thank the Gods for that because no child should ever go through what Zuko went through.
"So why did you open the door near where I leave," I asked the question that has been on my mind from when they started to explain.
"Ah...well, the thing is that we were hoping that you would also help to teach him some of what you know in terms of battle tactics and Strategy as well as the different ways to fight and we have also asked the spirits of Nature to lend him some of their power so Prince Iroh we ask for your help in training and raising Jon." They said
I sighed as I knew that was coming damn it, I hate the fact that I am a good person, I sighed again " Fine I will do it but I will only do so if you tell Jon everything that is happening and why he is here agreed."
"Agreed and thank you, Prince Iroh you don't how much you have helped us," They said
"How long is he going to stay here," I asked
"Well as you Prince Iroh that time works differently here in the spirit world than it does in the mortal world. One day there is a year in here so with that in mind we had decided to keep the boy here for a total of 10 years which would be 10 days in the mortal world." I was mildly surprised that they would go that far in making sure that Jon was really for what is to come.
"Fine then I will help but they can't do this alone he will need help course no man no matter how strong can shoulder the fate of the word alone," I told them that the boy could not hold so much pressure all by himself as it would break him.
"Yes we understand that and we had no intention of letting him shoulder this burden alone we will be asking help from his second uncle to assist him on his journey." They answered I was relieved that young Jon wouldn't face these alone and that he would have help.
'Haha, uncle remains me of myself and Zuko back in the day.' I reminded myself of my time traveling with Zuko looking for Aang and having fun while we were at it (I was having fun and testing all sorts of different types of tea) I brought myself back from memory lane before so that I can conclude this deal.
"So when are planning on telling him and letting his uncle know what is happening," I asked as I wanted to know if they plan to do so now or later.
They hummed and then they answered."In terms of the uncle we will notify him as soon as we are finished here and as for the boy two days from now."
"Why two days from now," I asked as I was curious as to why they would wait two days to tell Jon.
"Well we need to give him time to get used to the spirit world and two days should be enough time for such." They said.
"OK, then I guess that is about it then?" I asked
"Yes and again Prince Iroh we thank you for what you are doing for Jon and us." They said and it felt like they were smiling at me.
"No need for that it is a pleasure to help" I said as I turned around and headed back to hut to maybe put on a kettle of tea when I get there.
'Hhmm should be interesting training someone again haven't done that since Zuko' I thought as I can feel myself getting excited at the prospect of teaching someone.'This could be fun. I can't wait to see how young Jon will do
