Oops, I Did It Again – Chapter 1

"Shut the fuck up Crowe, I swear if you say one more thing, I'm going to punch you so hard I will probably break your nose." Jane was adamant, she had heard enough of his bullshit for the day.

Crowe just smiled at her and said, "Go ahead Gayzolli, try it."

"That's it, I warned you." Jane stepped over and punched Crowe in the face. A popping noise was heard and Crowe let out a loud wail as he clutched his face.

Hearing the loud wailings, the lieutenant came out of his office to see what the hell was going on in the bullpen. Jane stood there with her hands still clasped in fists of rage as Darren Crow was covering his face with blood oozing out between his fingers.

"Someone, pick up a God damn phone and call EMS." Lt. Cavanaugh shouted. Sgt. Korsak picked up his desk phone and called for an EMS unit to be dispatched to the bullpen. About ten minutes later EMS personnel arrived and took care of Crowe and his broken nose.

Meanwhile, Korsak and Frost escorted Jane to one of the interview rooms to cool down. After Crowe was taken away by the EMS personnel fussing all the way, Lt. Cavanaugh went into the interview room to have a chat with Detective Rizzoli.

"What the hell is wrong with you Rizzoli? I told you last month that the next time you get into an altercation I would have to send you to an anger management class. Why can't you leave Crowe alone?" Cavanaugh really wasn't expecting Jane to answer but she did anyways.

Jane remembered the conversation from last month.

Last Month

Jane and Crowe were yelling at each other in the bullpen. Jane was quite loud compared to Crowe and Cavanaugh had had enough. His door was closed and he could hear Rizzoli yelling.

"Rizzoli, my office now." He didn't even have to enter the bullpen he just stepped out of his office and yelled at her. She immediately went to his office.

Jane started talking, she didn't even give Lt. Cavanaugh a chance to speak, "Sir, he started it. He is tossing out insults left and right. I just wanted to sit down at my desk and get my paperwork done."

"Can I speak now, Rizzoli?" Cavanaugh asked with kinda a smile on his face. He knew Jane was very passionate about what she was yelling at Crowe about.

Jane looked at him and said, "Yes sir! Sorry."

"Okay, for starters have a seat, please. I could hear some of what he said to you and it was inappropriate and I will call him in and have a chat with him. However, I heard you with my door closed. This is not the first time I have had to speak to you about this. Today, I will have to annotate that we are discussing this. It is a letter of reprimand but only in my files, not your official BPD file."

He stepped around and sat on the corner of his desk and said, "Look Jane, I like you. You are one of my best homicide detectives, but you have got to get your anger under wraps. We cannot have our detectives yelling at each other in the bullpen. We all need to be able to work together. I'm sorry about having to give you a letter of reprimand but I have to follow protocol. The next time I have to speak to you about this I will have to send you to an anger management class and possibly suspend you for a few days. Do you understand me?"

Jane just lowered her head, she knew he was right, but Crowe just pushed all of her buttons. He knew what to say to get her going. She looked up and responded, "Yes sir, I understand. I will try to behave myself."

Lt. Cavanaugh just looked at her and said, "Thank you, you are excused, can you ask Sgt. Korsak in please?"

"Yes, sir." Jane replied as she got up to go get Sgt. Korsak. She left the door open because she knew Sgt. Korsak would be going in momentarily.

Jane was still very angry and her reply came off as yelling at her lieutenant, "I'm sick and tired of him calling me Gayzolli, dyck, lesbo and all sorts of other names. I warned him if he didn't shut his trap, I was going to punch him and he continued so, I punched him."

"Well Rizzoli, you give me no choice, I have to suspend you for three days and I will now be required to send you to an anger management class."

Jane was not happy, "Come on LT, you know how Crowe is. You know he wouldn't shut up even if I asked him nicely. He just has to constantly come after me."

"Jane, we all know Crowe is an ass, but you cannot walk around punching people. I'm not saying you have to not do anything about what he says, but punching him in the bullpen is not the answer. Grab your stuff and go home. I will see you in three days and at that time I will have an appointment set up for you to attend anger management classes. That is mandatory, you will not be able to get out of attending. If you do not attend your classes, you will be suspended without pay. Do you understand me?"

"Yes sir, I understand." Jane was not happy but she understood. He had warned her last month and now she had to suffer the consequences of her actions.

"Hand over your badge and gun and I will see you on Monday morning." Jane reluctantly removed her badge and gun from her belt and handed them to her lieutenant. She then went to her desk to grab her keys and blazer. Because it was Wednesday and they had this weekend off unless they caught a case, It would be five days before she was allowed back in the bullpen. If Korsak and Frost caught a case they would have to work it without her until Monday. They walked with her to her cruiser. No words were spoken, just a pat on the back from each of them as she waved goodbye as she opened the driver's side door and hopped in. She started the vehicle, put it in gear and headed home.

Cavanaugh immediately went down to HR to let them know about Jane's suspension and to see what information they had about anger management classes. They had a handout and gave him a few copies. He was about to say he only needed one but with the look on the lady's face he just took the brochures and said "Thank you" and returned to his office. Jane was not being docked pay at this point, just a cool down suspension of three days for hitting a fellow officer.

He spent the next fifteen minutes reading the brochure and called the number given and made an appointment for one of his hardest working detectives. He didn't want to lose Jane. Her closure rate was the highest in the department, but her attitude needed an adjustment and maybe the anger management class would be exactly what she needed. He could hope anyways.

The anger management class had an opening on Monday afternoon so he booked it. He gave all of Jane's pertinent information and after hanging up the phone he sent an email to Jane and cc'd Korsak. Afterall Sgt. Korsak was her immediate supervisor and he needed to know what was going on.

Jane didn't know what to do with herself. She was a workaholic and with no work she was at a loss. She took Jo Friday out for a long walk. When she got back into her apartment she opened up and read her email. When she read the email from Lt. Cavanaugh, she was a little pissed. She didn't want to go to anger management classes. She just wanted Crowe to shut his fucking mouth.

Just because she was a cop didn't mean she was a lesbian. Sure, she acted masculine but she worked with all men and she had to wear pants because she couldn't go chasing criminals in a skirt. However, if she wanted to remain a homicide detective she needed to go to the classes.

She added the information to her calendar and figured she would go. She told herself 'I don't have to participate but I do need to go and get my paperwork signed off so I can go back to work. I need my badge and gun back.'

She was miserable for the next five days. She couldn't wait for Monday morning to arrive so she could go back to work.
