Hello fellow TD fans! I know that it has been DECADES since the last fanfic that I have written. However, I thought this would be an interesting story for you to read, based on real/true events, and a way to express myself and get some things off my chest. Think of this story as me writing in a journal, but with a fanfiction twist to it. Thanks for reading in advance!

I sighed loudly in my car; my breath visible in the cold air. It was a Friday night around 5 o'clock I believe. I stepped out of the car and started walking to the place where I socialized with people the most: the movie theatre. I have worked at this job for about 2 and a half year now and I was pretty much the best worker there (as my managers would say to me in private sometimes). I entered the building where the air was much warmer and the lights were much brighter, thanks to the arcade games blinking and flashing, asking for the customers to go over and play them.
I saw a few customers leaving the building and going into the cold, winter night. I looked around and saw a few familiar faces behind the bar. Smiling, I went up to them since they seemed pretty bored and they weren't really doing anything anyway.
"Are you working hard or hardly working?" I ask with a smile and a slight smirk.
"Gwen!" one of my best friends, Bridgette, yelled from down the bar. She quickly dropped her cleaning cloth and walked up to me, leaning on the counter. "You're here early, what's the occasion?" I shrugged.
"I finished my homework early and I was bored so I decided to kill some time by talking to you losers before I become one" She laughed as a response.
"You know..." she leaned in closer "they are hiring some new people tonight... I saw one wandering around like a chicken with his head cut off earlier"
I smirk. I enjoy watching the new people come into the theatre, thinking that they are able to deal with the stress and pressure of customer service. I like to call them "bambi's". They come in all doe eyed, stumbling to understand what the system is like, and so so gullible and innocent.
"Oh! There's one now!" Bridgette pointed at the door that was in front of her. I turn around and see a man about my age or a little older strut into the theatre and looking like he knows it all. I roll my eyes. Typical.
"He looks like fresh meat that needs to be beaten with a meat cleaver" one of my other good friends, Leshawna, commented while sweeping the floor beside me. I nodded in response and continued to examine him, trying to get a feel of what this guy is like. He had scruffy, black hair that had obviously not been brushed very well. Some piercings on his eyebrow, nose, and ear. Dark, washed out jeans and a big baggy sweatshirt. I scoff at his appearance because I knew that there was NO WAY our manager was going to hire someone who looks like th-
"Duncan! How's it going?!" my supervisor Geoff exclaimed from across the lobby. Oh god... don't tell me that... and with that I watched Geoff and this new guy do a handshake right in front of me. "I'm so excited for you to get this job man, it's so boring here since everyone working here are not fun at all"
"Ummm excuse me? We're here!" I wave my arms in the air so that Geoff was able to see me. He and this new guy look over at my direction. I cross my arms, along with Leshawna and Bridgette and stare Geoff down. He laughed and pointed at the three of us "oh yeah, I guess those guys are pretty chill. Hard working, but chill". I watched this new guy's expression; he was definitely judging and making opinions on what kind of person we were by the way we looked. I also noticed that he was looking at me, longer than Bridgette and Leshawna for some reason.
"Eh, whatever" the new guy shrugged in response.
"This is my buddy and good old friend, Duncan" Geoff explained to us while pulling him closer to us. "He's applying for this job because his parents feel like he'll become a basement troll if he doesn't get a job soon" he chuckled and pulled the new guy closer to him, to which he responded with an elbow to the stomach. "OW! Come on dude, don't do that to your future supervisor"
Honestly, I was not sure what kind of guy this Duncan guy is, but I really don't think that he will make it past the interview phase anyway. I shrug and look at my phone. "Ah shit... I gotta go get changed... my shift starts in 5 minutes!" I look at Duncan and smirk "good luck during your interview, you'll need it". He smirks back and for the first time, I heard him talk.
"I don't need luck sweetheart" and with that, we both turned around and walked the opposite direction from each other and for some reason, my face felt hot. Sweetheart?

I wipe my brow as I put up the remaining box of popcorn oil on a stack. Finally, I can go home and sleep...
"Gwen!" I hear Leshawna calling me over from the other side of the bar. "I'm going home! But I'll see you later okay?"
"Okay! Have a good night!" I call back while stretching my back. I still had a few more duties to do before I was able to go home. Leshawna was lucky that she had a good team with her tonight or else she would still be with me.
"Oh! Also! Someone is here to see you! Bye!"
"Wait! Who?!" I groan in annoyance as I realize that she was already gone before I was able to ask. I pop my head out from behind a wall and see the new guy, Duncan, leaning against the counter. "Um... may I help you? Or are you just going to dirty my counter?" I ask, raising my eyebrow and putting my hands on my hips. He jumped a little when hearing my voice and turned his attention towards me. I raise my eyebrows more, trying to emphasize my seriousness.
"Oh, I was just waiting for Geoff, that's all" he replied with a shrug. I hmph in annoyance.
"Well too bad because he will be able to leave when I'm done cleaning up so you're going to have to wait a little longer." he chuckled.
"That's fine by me, I'll just watch you clean from over here". I roll my eyes and was about to walk away but stopped to ask him.
"How was your interview? Did you totally botch it?" he shrugged and smiled
"Who knows? Guess we'll see when I get the call back saying that I'm hired"
"Hmm. Cocky aren't you?" he smirked, his eyes burning into mine
"Wouldn't you like to know?"

I breathe in the cold, fresh air and then let it out with a sigh. Finally, I'm off work.
"Gwen!" I sigh and turn around, knowing that Geoff was calling me.
"What? I'm off duty now so you can't call me back in to do something monotonous that you don't want to do" Geoff laughed and pushed Duncan out the door.
"No silly! I just want you to escort this nice man to his car since we are closed" he then closed the door on both of us and locked it from the inside. Duncan and I looked at each other for a moment until I urged him to walk with me.
"Come on, I'm getting cold" I shoved my hands in my coat pockets and started to walk.
"My car is this way, actually" he shouted out, pointing to the direction where his car was with his thumb. "However, I can walk myself so I guess I'll see you around during my training shift sweetheart". He winked at me and headed to his car while I headed to mine.
What a strange man... I hope he doesn't get the job or else I'll have to deal with him all the time... then again, that may be fun...
