A/N: Hello! Welcome to Encantober, a fun daily prompt event for the Encanto fandom on tumblr! I may not fill all the prompts, but I'll post what I do fill here. Rating is K+ for this collection of ficlets/one shots/drabbles. Authors Notes at the beginning of the chapter will give a short summary of what each chapter contains as well as any content warnings, though I don't think I'll need any. I'll be posting a separate story rated T titled 'Love, Persevering: A Ghost Story' that links 9 prompts from Encantober into a complete fic that deals with the events of my story 'Just Your Ordinary Everday Miracle' from the perspective of Alejandro's ghost. First post for that is tomorrow. Happy October, have a wonderful month!
Day 1: Caterpillar
(Fluff)
"Hey, hey, hey, kid - I've gotta 'notha one for ya. Listen to this – 'what looks like half a caterpillar?'"
Antonio frowned and blinked, going nearly cross-eyed as he attempted to focus on the two caterpillars on the large leaf in the middle of Señor Ramirez' farm.
" 'The other half!'" The caterpillar in question slapped one of his knees and guffawed. "Okay, now – how do ya get a caterpillar a hundred feet in the air?"
Antonio sighed.
"Turn it upside down!" The little bug laughed again.
"Oh, honey, stop. You need to stop." The other caterpillar placed several fuzzy feet on her partner's side. Antonio perked up. He'd been attempting to convince the caterpillars to relocate – along with their hundreds of family members – to a place in the jungle. Isabela had even offered to grow them some of their own plants, anything they wanted, if they'd just stop eating all of the crops in Señor Ramirez' fields. He'd barely begun to speak with them before this particular one began regaling him with dozens and dozens of bug-themed dad jokes. Maybe – maybe he was finally going to see some progress.
"After all," the female caterpillar continued, "You know what they say about chatty caterpillars."
Their little faces were too hard for him to see well, but Antonio could have sworn she gave the male a little smirk.
"They turn into - "
"Social butterflies!" Both caterpillars screeched in tandem, laughing uncontrollably.
Antonio couldn't help it. He turned his head and pressed his mouth against his sleeve and laughed.
After all, they couldn't help it. He knew they just larvae-d all the attention.
A/N: Thanks for reading, pardon the cheesy puns. XD
