A/N: I own nothing.

Georgetown University Medical School

Dr. Maura Isles had finished her last guest lecture of the semester, and was officially done with her sabbatical. She would be heading back to Boston to take the position of Chief Medical Examiner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. After her latest break-up with Ian, if you could call it that, she had thought leaving Africa for a guest lecturer position at Georgetown would help her.

She had believed, foolishly it turned out, that a new place would bring her new friends and perhaps even a new love. Male or female, she didn't really care, she was just lonely. However, her awkwardness had been a stumbling block, and as such, after two dates with two different men, no one else had asked her out. She had had lunch a couple of times with a female TA, but found the woman too young and a bit boring.

So here it was on a Friday night, her last Friday night in Georgetown, that she was alone. The movers had picked her belongings up at the university house she had called home for the last five months, and she was spending the weekend in a suite at the Hay-Adams, with just her journal, suitcase and laptop to keep her company.

Jane Rizzoli had finished a six week special training offered by the FBI for new detectives across America. She was due back in Boston at BPD on Monday morning, where she would begin her last week as an undercover Vice officer, before transferring to homicide as a detective.

The last six weeks had been a needed distraction for her after her latest break-up with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Troy. He had issues with her job and the amount of time she spent at work versus the amount of time she spent with him and their relationship.

Troy was an NYPD detective, and they had been doing the dating dance for the better part of five years. He was nice looking, kind, and most important, at least to her mother, he was Catholic. And even more importantly, he wanted a house full of kids. Jane? Not so much.

And what Troy didn't know, what Jane's mother Angela didn't know, what nobody knew, was Jane had finally accepted that she was attracted to women as well as men. She wasn't quite ready to make a proclamation or march in a parade, or even go out on a date with a woman, but she knew.

Which is why she going to spend this Friday night where she had spent the last four Friday nights: In Georgetown at a bar called A League of Her Own, having a beer and watching...baseball and women.

She loaded the last of her bags into her car and pulled out into the direction of Georgetown. Rush hour traffic from Quantico had dissipated and Jane made good time to the bar. She had called her mother on the way there and let her know she wouldn't be home until late Sunday.

A League of Her Own Bar

Jane nodded at the bartender as she made her way to the back corner of the bar. In short order, the waitress brought her a burger and beer. Jane smiled at the waitress who was cute in a kid sister kind of way. She had given up flirting with Jane after her third Friday night. Jane had, in fact been hit on by all kinds of women; diesel dyke to high fem, but had yet to take any of them up on their offers of...companionship. She had resigned herself to not meeting anyone she would find attractive. There were attractive women, some beautiful in fact, but nothing had clicked for her when she saw them. She wasn't sure exactly what her type was, but she knew she hadn't seen it yet.

She concentrated on her burger and her phone, ignoring everything going on around her.

Maura finally found a place to park and took a few minutes to get her courage up. She had never been to a lesbian bar, wasn't sure what to expect or even what she was hoping to gain. She just knew she was lonely, she found women attractive, in a sexual way, and what could it hurt?

She checked her appearance in the mirror, touched up her lipstick and headed toward the bar.

As she stepped inside, she had to squint her eyes until they adjusted to the darkness. She felt uncomfortable as several eyes turned to look at her. She hadn't changed out of her suit and was completely overdressed for the bar. Too embarrassed to just turn and leave, she found a table near the door and sat down.

After she ordered a glass of wine, she quickly buried her face in her phone, trying to become invisible. That worked for a few minutes. A few. Maura was, undoubtedly, the best looking fem in the bar. Probably ever. Women were beginning to circle her, like a shark circling unsuspecting prey.

A very masculine woman took it upon herself to take a seat at Maura's table.

"I'm Jeni. Buy you a drink?"

Maura looked up, nervously, and managed to point to her drink and shook her head no. She did thank the woman for her offer and thought that would be the end of it. It wasn't.

"So...haven't seen you here before. New to town"

"Just passing through." She finally gave the woman her full attention. "I appreciate the offer of a drink, but..."

Jane hadn't paid attention to much of the going on's of the bar, until she caught a glimpse of the woman she knew was named Jeni. She had witnessed her reluctance to take no for an answer every night Jane had been there. All of those women had been able to take care of themselves. This woman, this blonde haired woman dressed to the nine's, looked out of her element.

The cop in Jane couldn't leave it alone, couldn't leave her alone. Jane formed a plan of action quickly and hurried over to the bonde's table, hoping she would catch on.

"There you are!" Jane bent and kissed Maura on the cheek, surprising the blonde. "Baby, I got us a table back there. Come on."

Maura, thankful for the rescue, gathered her drink and allowed this raven haired woman to take her hand and lead her away from Jeni.

After they got settled, Jane leaned in and whispered, "Sorry about that, but you looked like you could use a five minute girlfriend."

For the first time, Maura actually got a good look at the woman who had rescued her. Her breath caught in her chest and she felt a fuzzy feeling in her entire body.

Maura smiled and blushed ever so slightly. "I suppose I did. Thank you."

Jane got a good look at the blonde at the same moment she looked at her. Jane Rizzoli felt something she hadn't felt since high school: Butterflies. This woman was beautiful, radiant and innocent looking all at once.

"...Uh, my n-name is...Clem." Jane wasn't ready to admit to being in a lesbian bar and thought using a shortened version of her middle name was safer than her actual name.

The blonde took the offered hand and replied, "My name is...Thea." Maura reasoned using a shortened version of her middle name would keep the hives at bay.

They sat in silence for a few minutes before Maura waived the waitress over and told "Clem" to order whatever she wanted. As "Clem" tried to protest, "Thea" waved her off.

"Are you from here?"

"Clem" shook her head. "I just finished a training program. Heading home late Sunday. You?"

"Thea" shook her head. "I was invited to give a lecture at a local university. I fly out early Sunday afternoon."

"Clem" looked around nervously. "Would you like to dance?"

"I could do that."

"Clem" stood and held her hand out to "Thea," leading her to the dance floor. They were dancing to an uptempo song and both women were enjoying it and laughing and having fun. When the next song was a slow dance, "Clem" faltered, but "Thea" closed the gap between them and put her arms around the raven haired woman's neck. They began to sway back and forth and "Thea" eventually placed her head on "Clem's" shoulder. "Clem" surprised herself by tightening her hold on "Thea."

They danced several more dances, and eventually went back to their table. Once they were seated again, neither woman released the others hand. "Clem" moved closer to "Thea" who didn't move away. She stared at the smaller woman's lips and flicked her eyes up to the blonde's eyes and back to her lips.

Before she could make a decision, "Thea" made it for her. She moved forward and pressed her lips to "Clem's." It was meant to be a brief kiss, but "Clem" slipped her hand behind the blonde'd neck and pulled her forward

Jane's mind was racing.

"Oh my God I am finally kissing a woman. And I am loving it. My nipples have hardened and I'm wet. Fuck this feels good. Right." Then realization hit her. "Now what?"

Maura's mind was responding similarly.

"Her mouth is so soft, so different than any other kiss I've had. I'm wet and I want her." Before she could fully process what any of this meant, her mind made the fatal mistake of comparing this woman's kiss to Ian's.

Jane felt her withdrawal and immediately pulled back, apologizing profusely.

"Wait! It's ok, I just..." Maura wasn't about to admit this was her first ever kiss with a woman, fearing she might scare this sexy woman away.

Jane had already shut down, fearful she had overstepped with "Thea."

"Thea, just let me know when you are ready to go, and I will make sure you get home safely." She finally looked at the blonde. "Do you need a cab or did you drive?"

Looking sad, "Thea" took a deep breath and replied, "I have a car and a room at the Hay-Adams the university put me up in."

"Clem" nodded and replied, "Ok. I'll ride with you, make sure you make it in safely and then catch a cab back to the parking garage down the street from the bar. Sound good?"

"Thea" started to protest, but "Clem" placed a finger on her lips. "I really don't trust Jeni over there. Please?" Jane admitted to herself that was at best a half-truth, but she wanted to spend just a little more time with this woman.

"Ok."

They walked out of the bar in silence, but their fingers were entwined. "Clem" opened the door for "Thea" and then got into the passenger seat. They rode in near silence as each woman was lost in her own thoughts.

Maura pulled the car to the front of the hotel and gave the keys to the valet. She found "Clem" by the valet stand, about to ask about getting a cab back to the parking garage. "Thea" wasn't ready to say goodbye, so she smiled at "Clem" and said, "You said you would see me to the door."

"Clem" chuckled. "That I did."

They rode the elevator up to the floor of "Thea's" room. They walked down the hall in comfortable silence until they arrived at "Thea's" door.

The blonde turned and gave the taller woman a hug, whispering, "Thank you for the best night I've had in a very long time."

"Back at you."

They continued to hug for longer than what would be considered normal. "Thea" took in several deep breaths, trying to memorize the feel and smell of this woman. "Clem was equally invested in trying to remember everything about this woman. She buried her nose in the blonde's hair and took several deep breaths.

As they reluctantly broke apart, "Clem" lingered just long enough to give "Thea" the courage she needed to make a decision. As Clem started to walk away, "Thea" found her voice.

"Stay. Tonight. With me. Please."
