A/N I own nothing, also bit of backstory. I wrote this years ago back when season 11 of Rvb came out, the writing needs a bit of an update and I originally wasn't even going to post it, but then I just said fuck it, I know this fic isn't exactly what I usually write, and normally I wouldn't even be interested in posting this kind of thing but I'm also in the middle of some writers block so maybe editing this will start getting the gears turning again, anyway enjoy!

Project Freelancer
After the success of the Spartan II program the UNSC was demanding an advancement in the field of super soldiers. However, with the refusal to head another project and destruction of research by Dr. Halsey, UNSC Execs were forced to choose a new head of programs. ONI brought forth a solution with one Dr. Leonard Church, a prodigy with multiple degrees in bioengineering and psychology as well as a few years of combat experience under Naval Special Operations. Dr. Church was more than willing to take the helm as long as he was given full control over any aspect of the project along with the ability to choose his crew and subjects, the UNSC heads agreed under the condition that he was given a UNSC oversight agent to ensure the project was given appropriate attention, in response Dr. Church asked for an AI assistant cloned from his own mind to help with his research. The UNSC once again relented, and Project Freelancer was born.

Test: Turncoat, former insurgent fighting on -, held out against UNSC forces for three months on his own, carrying nothing but a rifle and scavenged ammo from downed enemy forces. His confirmed kills numbered in the hundreds, and that isn't even counting the bodies they didn't find, at least according to him. Eventually he was captured by ONI SPECOPs and thrown into on of their deep dark holes, I managed to dig him up and offer him a job, he accepted on the condition he could have his old rifle back. This subject was recruited to test how a former enemy could adapt to essentially being the UNSC's newest attack dog.

Test: PTSD, Washington signed on to fight the alien threat at the fresh young age of 16, faking her age wasn't exactly hard considering how badly the marine corp needs more bodies on the line, but the earnest act is something I'm sure was admired among her peers. Though from my initial eval I could tell that whatever spark was there in the beginning must've gone out when she was the sole survivor of a covenant raid. Apparently, the only reason she had survived was because one of her teammates had shielded her from the initial explosion and she was unable to remove his lifeless body from atop her, while trapped she could only watch as the rest of her base was slaughtered. Her Psych eval afterwards was.. Less than favorable, it even suggested an immediate discharge, however my own evaluation revealed someone who still wanted to fight and as far as I'm concerned that's all a soldier needs and that's exactly what I'll be testing.
