Chapter 1: A Kursed awakening
Kursed, it's an anthropomorphic blue vixen who became a bounty hunter after ruining her own life, now she's travelling through space on her ship, the Cloudrunner, an old and damaged ship that has seen better days, just like its pilot, her fur and hair both blue and yet quite dusty, her green eyes looked almost lifeless, her clothes a metallic bra covers her chest and metallic pants covering her lower half leaving a tail hole for her tail, the material of her clothes looked worn out, at the back of her seat was her old staff retracted to be a little scepter barely taken care properly, with stains of oxidation. One she received a telepathic message, one with such strange allure, it said " come to the shrine of resurrection, our future lies in there, come and your wish will come true" Kursed felt strange, normally she wouldn't believe such a cryptic message, but with no real goal or motivation she decided to see what the destiny had prepared for her, the message came from a long abandoned system, the supposed homeworld of the singularity that destroys every planet it touches, by arriving to the planet's atmosphere she felt the message on her head and the map in the ship had some coordinates, strange enough she felt that this was more of a dream, a dream of her former self, questioning her own sanity for following this promise for her wish,she landed in a ruinous plateau, the whole planet had the same characteristics of the entity that kills the planets, barely inhabitable ,most of life forms are annihilated leaving some fortunate or unfortunate survivors in a planet that no longers belongs to them, although it would seem that this planet has its life returning, wildlife and vegetation are returning, clearly a sign of how long has been since that entity came out , she took the map on her hands , a cubic machine that when hold up shows a topographic map of the area, there she followed the coordinates, there she found a weakened wall at the face of the cliff, she took a circular object, yellow on the corners and on six areas were white dots, she took her distance and throw the object, moments later the object exploded destroying the rocks, there, there was a corridor that lead to a sealed door, she walked in in search of her supposed wish, when she touched the door she felt a voice calling her, and said "return to your past, remember the skills you forgot, you possess the power to open the door" Kursed hated this, the took her staff from her back and thought (I never wanted to use you again, but this will require something more than explosives) and extended her staff once again, there she inserted the razor end of her staff into the center of the eye mark of the door and then a shining light came out of the dent, soon after she took the staff out of the door and it opened, old boxes, dust, a pair of old stone chests and broken barrels, and yet another door, she was ready to use again her staff when another message came to her " please, help him and he will save you from yourself" annoyed of this messages she opened the door curious of what was behind it, a dark room illuminated by the morning sun from outside there was some kind of device at the middle of the room filled with a strange blue liquid, at a corner there was a tablet of some sort, made of stone and magic in nature and yet had science behind its structure, she took the tablet and put it on her hip's magnetic belt, then she got closer to the device, as soon as her hands touched the device she felt as if her own powers were drained for a moment to start again the machine, the strange structure hanging from the ceiling started to shine brightly and the ceiling turned blue, the device started to drain the liquid revealing a strange creature for her, looked like a monkey but it had no fur, only a golden like-hair on his head and black shorts, his body had lots of scars almost healed up but still left some marks on his body, it looked quite young, no older than 17 years, at first she felt anger, being called to wake up a kid, and yet she was frustrated with herself for accepting something like that without question, suddenly she heard a moaning and when she turned around she saw the young boy waking up, looking at his surroundings, a bit confused and he crawled out of the device to get up, the young boy just looked at her for a moment but he then ignored her as if she wasn't weird for him, then as the kid went to the chests she had another message "take him, take him to the point in your map" and then the tablet vibrated and as she opened up it revealed a point in some coordinates, with her map she could then quickly know where it was, as soon as she sighed in frustration went to where the kid was but he disappeared, then she went outside and found the kid wearing a pair of worn out pants, ann old ragged shirt and a pair of old shoes, there he was watching the view, Kursed now that gave herself the time looked and was in awe as she saw the world green plains, forests rivers and a tall volcano, part of her was happy for the view, and part of her wretched the view as it was a reminder of her time at Sauria, she was going to talk to the boy but she saw figure with a stick with a lamp hanging on a side, both of them headed to look for the oldman, they found the figure sitting around a wood fire, it was hooded but she could see that it was an bearded oldman, with a quite big body for an oldman, the oldman laughed as the pair joined him in the wood fire and said " my my, this is quite the view, a young boy and a strange creature here on this isolated plateau, now, what brings such a strange pair to this forgotten part of the world" the boy then asked " who are you?" the old man said " I assure you that the details of my life and person are of little interest, and I can see that your friend has an interesting artifact on her hip, tell me creature, why do you have that relic?" Kursed answered " I was called here, with the promise of a wish, I opened up that tomb and found that kid and this tablet" the old man thought for a second before the young boy took the torch that was lying around and the oldman said " hey boy, what exactly are you planning to do with that torch?" the boy just said " to fight monsters" the oldman answered " to fight monsters? such crazy ideas the youngsters have nowadays, if you want a decent weapon take my axe of over there, it is way more viable for a fight than a stick, torches are used to burn things" and the boy went down hill to take the axe and the oldman added " kids are crazier every day I must say" Kursed then said " yeah, well, look, I have no intention to babysit a kid, so take this tablet and give it to him, I'm gonna go back to my ship and leave this planet "as she started to walk away to her ship downhill when the oldman said " your ship? you mean that strange artifact you came in? I'm afraid that won't be possible, the structure of that artifact is quite damaged and started to leak a strange smoke, if I were to guess I would say that the machinery stopped working properly" then she exalted said " what?" and went straight to her ship, the boy walked around exploring the plateau, and when she reached her ship it was as the oldman said , the engine was broken and the navigation system was busted, and the oxygen generators, the temp regulator were damaged and the fuel tank was empty, she wouldn't able to go anytime soon, at max the ship would come to her summoning but it wouldn't handle a long fly, so if she were to summon her ship would be to be repaired, but that was doubtful from a primitive planet, then she heard the boy scream as a black pig face creature was chasing him with a sword and a wooden shield, Kursed then sighed and yelled " run over here!" the kid went to where the vixen was right in front of the ship, Kursed hopped on her ship and the boy leaped along her,the creature kept chasing the boy but when it got in range Kursed activated the cannons of her ship annihilating the creature leaving some body parts and the sword, the shield burned down, then Kursed asked " what happened?, didn't you have a weapon? and the boy said " it broke" Kursed was a bit angry with his straightforward answers, he barely speaks and when he does he barely says three words and then said " well , take that sword, it will be better than the torch you have, and come with me, let's find this strange point in the map, the boy didn't say anything, and just followed her, they evaded some of the same pig face creatures and entered into what seemed to be a small cave with a strange structure, there Kursed placed the tablet into the pedestal when she saw it had the same design as the pedestal in the shrine of resurrection, a strange voice echoed from the stone hanging at the ceiling " reactivating system, please be careful as there may be strong tremors" soon enough an earthquake started to shake the land, it seemed like the whole planet was shaking, and then the cave was destroyed as the structure rose up revealing to be a tower of some sort a few minutes passed and the tremor stopped, they were able to get up after that shake, the boy and Kursed then looked at the distance, it was a castle in ruins there was a light shining brightly and he and Kursed were able to hear a girl's voice, " remember, remember, you've been asleep for a long time, now you must come to the castle, help him and your wish will be granted" both were confused but they were sure they would have to go to the castle and find whatever is there, slowly both climbed down the tower and as soon as they touched ground they heard a laugh from afar, and at the next moment they saw the oldman flying in some sort of sailcloth came in and then said " would you look at that, it is one tower from the legends, and on that tremor towers from all over the world rose up, almost like a sleeping power woke up. tell me youngsters, did something unusual happen there?"Kursed didn't want to answer, distrusting the oldman but the boy had other ideas and said " we heard a voice"the oldman exclaimed " a voice you say? and tell me, did this voice sound familiar ?" the young boy replied "no" the oldman frowned and said " I see, and tell me boy, are you planning to go to that castle ? and the boy said "yes" the oldman thought for a moment and said " well, I see, however this plateau is completely isolated and to jump down the abyss would be a certain death, now if you had something like my paraglider it would be another story " the boy was curious and asked " paraglider ?" the oldman said " yes, an oldman like me need some sort of contraption to move around so easily, but, I would be willing to strike a deal, follow me " then the boy followed the old man, Kursed stuck with the kid had no choice but to follow them, they walked past a small hill and stopped, the oldman stopped and signaled " there, you see that strange structure ? it started to shine at the moment the towers rose up, such a mysterious structure would have to have some sort of treasure, well, I want the treasure, you go to retrieve it and I'll give you my paraglider" the boy started to walk straight to the structure, there he went inside the structure and then Kursed was able to speak with the oldman " tell me old man, why are you so calmed down I'm not around this planet and you know it and yet you speak us like mercenaries" the oldman laughed a bit and said " well it would be rude of me to disrespect the first non aggressive faces around here, and strange creatures aren't new to these old bones, it is true that some people might react to your….. strange figure but as soon as they see that you're not aggressive you'll be treated as another traveler,as what you seek , I believe that this boy will bring you good fortune if you stick to him, so you would be wise to be with him for now" the vixen showed a bit of unconformity and said " we'll see, for now I have no option" but as soon as she looked where the oldman was he had disappeared, unsure of what happened she went to the structure, but it wouldn't let her go in so she had to wait for a while, then the boy came back to the surface through the lift inside the structure, and then she saw the boy had the tablet she gave the oldman, then she asked " how did you get inside? it was with that tablet?" the boy just nodded and they heard another laugh echoing and then saw how the oldman came flying and then said " would you look at that, it seems that you found the treasure, there are more structures like this all around hyrule, without going out of this plateau there are other three sanctuaries, I want the treasure of all four sanctuaries" then Kursed said " hey, that wasn't the deal!" the oldman with a serious look said " well I reconsidered the deal, and you like it or not, I'm the only bet you have to get out of this plateau, now I want you to go to the top of the tower once again" the boy's face showed unconformity and Kursed said " are you serious?" the oldman laugh and said " no need to get angry , the legends says that that tablet can teleport all who touch it why don't you try to open up the map of the tablet" the boy activated the tablet and Kursed touching it with a hand on a side looked, the empty map now had a piece of the map installed and there were some strange icons, as soon as the boy touched the icon of the tower their bodies turned into some sort of blue light and dissipated in thin air, moments later the lights reunited at the top of the tower in a strange plaza design on its surface, there they recovered the senses and were shocked, then heard the oldman laugh near of them scaring them for a moment and the old man said " I thought that by teleporting you would come faster" the boy then asked " how did you….." and the oldman interrupting him said " as I said I got my own ways to move faster, now this is a quite high place, here you'll see the position of the other shrines, then Kursed asked while the boy was looking for the shrines " tell me oldman, what do you know about that castle ?" it was the epicenter for the resurrection of the greatest evil in all time, I imagine that that evil has gone beyond stars, right?" she nodded and said " it appeared eons ago, it goes planet by planet as a force of nature, nothing can harm it, nothing can stop it, all attempts have failed and keep going from planet to planet destroying the planet itself,leaving a handful of survivors, we don't really know the origins of that… entity, not even sure if it's a weapon or a living being, we could only call it the maelstrom" the oldman frowned and said " I see, I will tell you everything once the boy finds the treasures however I can tell you that that entity has a name, it's called Ganon and the castle used to be its prison, but I'll tell you later" Kursed was frustrated for such an incomplete answer but it was a bit of an answer soon enough she yawned from nowhere realizing how tired she was and the oldman said " my, so young and yet you mistreat your body, even being from another species I can tell, if you took proper care of yourself you would be a very beautiful woman" Kursed crossed her arms and looking down said " yeah, well, I had enough with being pretty, I have no affection to my life to be honest, I hoped that a criminal or an accident could end my life, but, I was too well trained to let that happen" the old man then said " I see, well, I won't ask anything of your past, we all have something to hide, but here you can start anew, maybe if you look for a new goal you'll find a new purpose in life? I have no Idea of what might be your wish, but I believe that caring for yourself is the first step to care for life, now, I'll tell you what, I'll lend you my bed so you can sleep , go to the south, near of the forests you'll find a shack there you can find a bed, go to sleep and let the kid do the work" Kursed looked around and said " wait, where is the kid?" and the oldman answered " he went in search of the other shrines and with this plateau being so big it would take him a bit of time, I'm sure he will come to seek you when he's ready, so for now, go to sleep, you'll need it and the shack is safe" Kursed sighed and agreed but when she looked at where the oldman was, he had disappeared, without question it anymore she headed to the south, a few hours of travel she found the oldman eating a strange dish sitting on a trunk alongside a woodfire with a cooking pot, when she asked the oldman answered " it was the kid, he found out my recipe and told me the missing ingredient, I gave him a piece of clothes to protect himself from freezing temperatures, the bed is inside, go to rest gal" Kursed nodded and went the bed, it was just a wooden bed with a pillow made of leather filled with feathers, she took off her magnetic belt and her staff from her back and layed on the bed, hard, but at the same time comfortable, she couldn't remember when was the last time she stopped to sleep, and without thinking, she fell asleep immediately. in her dreams, she could only see her past days, the days when she was a member of her former team, Team Star fox, happy days, and yet, they were bittersweet memories, when Kursed woke up it was the sunrise of a new day and asking to herself " how long I was out?" and the oldman entered the shack and said " you were sleeping for two days now lady you sure were tired,how're you feeling?" Kursed cleaned the tears from her cheeks and said " well. now I remember why I stopped sleeping, but somehow, I feel better now" then her stomach started to growl and the oldman laughed " hahahaha, it seems that your stomach wants to be filled , when was the last time you eated miss?" Kursed then said " a week ago, it's hard to find good food when you're low on money" the oldman served her a plate of fish with a steak , and said " this isn't a five stars meal but, this should sasiate for now that hunger " and as soon as she smelled the food she almost by instinct she stole the plate from his hands and ate it with her fangs without a fork or a knife, once she finished she sighed in relief and when she was going to thank the oldman he disappeared, she layed on the bed again with the stomach full, and fell asleep for a while, suddenly she was woken up by the boy who was smiling , Kursed yawned and got up and asked "what happened?" and the boy said " let's meet with the oldman" and nodding she took her equipment and followed the boy, as soon as they entered on the temple in the middle of the plateau they saw a giant statue, the boy heard a voice, asking him what he wanted in exchange for the orbs, and he answered " more hearts" and a heart shaped jewel with golden stripes making some patterns slowly floated into his hands, as soon as he touched the jewel it disappeared, and could feel how the life force of the boy grew a bit stronger, from above the oldman called with his signature laugh and said " it seems that the blessing of the goddess made you a bit stronger, alright, now come up here" and then the oldman walked away on the ceiling outside, they found a ladder that lead up to the roof, there they found the oldman now looking with a strange looking outfit, there the oldman laughed again and said " well done, I wouldn't expect less from you youngster,I suppose that I should present myself, my name is Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule, the last monarch of the fallen kingdom of Hyrule and now, you're ready to know what happened a thousand years ago, the nature of Ganon lost itself as the dark of the night, he was a demon who tried to conquer the world and his hunger for power turned him into what he is now, long ago we had a prophecy, numerous signals announce Ganon's return but the power to repel him lies deep beneath the earth, we decided to hear the prophecy and started to excavate through the kingdom, for one side, we found the divine beasts, four giant mechanical beasts designed to be piloted by four skillful pilots and then there are the guardians, mechanical sentinels designed to protect the hero and fight against Ganon, we found a legend of the events of 11 thousand years ago, so we decided to replicate the plan that our ancestors did, we had four champions, warriors of great power and skill, and the princess along her knight, a thousand years ago, we were certain of victory, but….we didn't expect what happened then, Ganon's malice knows no bounds and attacked in an unexpected way and took control of the beasts and the guardians, soon, they turned against us and started to attack everything in sight, the champions, my subjects, and I felled to the cataclysm, but I managed to make my spirit to hold on, the knight of the princess fought valiantly and defended her until his last breath, that knight, was you Link, you fought until almost died, almost, the princess managed to put you into the shrine of resurrection, and then went to fight Ganon alone, I didn't wanted to overwhelm you as soon as you wake up, I apologize, but…..it's too late now, 900 years late, Ganon broke free from my daughter and once again unleashed its wrath on the world, after the massacre Ganon went into the stars to never be seen again, my daughter fell victim of the battle, now her spirit is haunting the castle walls in wait for her successor and in wait of the hero, I know there's no point now but….I must ask you…...stop Ganon, release the cosmos from his evil influence, avenge us and give the stars a future, you must go to the castle and meet my daughter, once there…..Kursed, you'll decide what you want to know, we will pay you in gold and precious stones for taking Link to the castle, but, if you stay, please, I beg you , help us to save the cosmos, redeem your true name and become the heroine you were destined to be" Kursed then asked " how did you know that I….." and the King said " it always was Krystal clear for me my child,and now I'll give you the paraglider, on the chest you'll find it, Kursed, I took the liberty to prepare some clothes for you, since those metallic clothes won't endure a journey, please accept my gift, and now I've done everything I could, I wish you luck youngsters….." and in front of their eyes the king disappeared from existence, then Kursed asked " Link? what kind of name is that?" and the boy asked " Krystal?" and the vixen then answered " don't say anything about my real name and I won't say anything about yours, okay? and call me Kursed" Link only nodded and opened the chest where he found the paraglider and below the paraglider were some light brown pants with a hole for her tail and a pair of boots made to the form of her feet, a green shirt and a belt with a hook for her staff, Kursed then said " cute, but, I'll change clothes later, right now let's get out of this plateau, okay? Link nodded and stepped on the ledge of the watchtower, there Kursed said " yeah yeah, don't worry, I'm lighter than I look" and hugged Link from behind, for him was a strange feeling, the softness of her fur and the coldness of her metallic clothes, once ready they leapt into the land below the plateau.
This is the beginning for a redemption adventure for both the late hero and the renegated bandit, will they succeed? will they find what they look for?
