A middle aged caucasian man with brown spiky hair is seen, he is a Nora hunter dressed in the attire of the tribe, he has two blue lines going across his right eye, on his back is a baby who was embracing the cold as he sneezed a little. "Sorry son but you are going to have to brave the cold for today a ritual has to be performed for me and you." the man stated as he took something out of his pocket. "Here son...wear this." the man made the boy wear a necklace that had a bottle cap with a star on it and the name Heineken on it "I found it when I was collecting wood by the river." the man chuckled as he hoisted the cradle on his back. Walking off the porch of his house, the man began his journey. The house was stationed on South from the Nora village Mother's Cradle.
As the man walked away from their home they passed Mother's Cradle. "This here is Mother's Cradle. It's the primary supplier of fish for our tribe."
Having walked out the snowy region of the area they travelled into the warm pastures. "Normally the mother's the one who declares...but well son your mother is dead. The whole village would attend and the Matriarchs perform the ritual but due to my foolishness we're shunned." they continued to travel "Even so as outcasts we must keep the tribe's rituals, otherwise we might become like the faithless Old Ones who turned their backs on the Goddess." he said this as they strolled through a town destroyed 1000s of years ago, it was now conquered by vegetation and plants. "But their wickedness doomed them. To us were left the splendors of creation. Beasts of air, water, earth and steel."
Holding his spear in a defensive way as a Tallneck's foot stomped onto the ground a couple metres away, a herd of Grazers and other machines were being dodged by the Nora. "A lesson for you boy, it is one thing to hunta beast but another to hunt a machine. You need to be humble and respect their power but I will teach you this one day." Time passed as the man scoured through a mountain side as he walked on a mountain pass. Continuing this he eventually reached the top.
Arriving he was surprised to see High Matriarch Teersa waiting under a tree "What is she doing here?" the man questioned as he approached the Matriarch, taking his son out of his cradle, he bowed in respect for the Matriarch "Please no. Off you're feet it's nearly time." the man stood up "And yes you may speak to me."
"You've come for the naming?" Teersa chuckled "Of course it's been six months since his mother entrusted you to him."
"But we're outcasts."
"You, Trel chose to be where as he well..." she dipped her finger into a cup filled with blue ink as she drew three lines on his left and right cheek. "I'm a High Matriarch Trel, I can bless whom I choose." she stated as Trel looked shocked "Then you honour us High Matriarch."
"Yes now go and get ready to declare." Trel did so as he walked to the ledge of the cliff were all Nora have been named, Teersa began chanting "All-Mother, this child needs a name by which to know his, that your love may warm his life as the rising sun warms all the earth!" she stated as Trel held the boy high facing the sun. "Speak his name!" Teersa shouted as Trel spoke. "NARUTO!" the boy's named echoed through the horizon as a few seconds passed and the ritual was complete. "And so his name is blessed." Teersa finished as Trel held the now named blond. "Your mother will always be there for you Naruto, so will I always."
Six Years Later
"Naruto!" Trel shouted with all his might as he looked for the young boy, Naruto had spiky blond hair with a short braid hitting the right side of his forehead, he was dressed in children outcast clothing as he ran from where he heard Trel's voice. Looking in the direction of Trel's voice, Naruto laughed mischievously as he ran, not seeing where he was going he ended up colliding with someone else as they both hit the ground in a very painful impact.
"Ow! Hey watch were you're going!" Naruto looked up to see a red haired girl infront of him and she looked pretty angry "Sorry I was running away from someone." Naruto smiled sheepishly "Also me I'm running away...wait you're talking to me!" the girl announced shocked at the realisation. "Yeah I am talking to you I mean your clothing is similar to mine so your an outcast too, right?"
The girl nodded "Well I'm also an outcast, my name's Naruto pleasure to meet you." he said as he stood up and gave the girl a hand "My name's Aloy." the girl replied "That's a nice name you have there." Naruto complimented as the girl had a tint of red "T-thanks you're the first person to ever tell me that." Naruto smiled "Well it's nothing. So where are you running to?" Naruto asked "To help the others to get berries."
"Others?"
"The other kids who aren't outcasts." Naruto looked shocked "Those kids are evil I advise you don't go to them Aloy, when I tried to help they literally threw rocks at me and some hit me in the face luckily they didn't leave a scar when I healed."
"Well maybe they've changed..." Naruto huffed "There's no way they will change especially that blond bastard that hit me is leading them...anyway I need to go before Trel finds me, see you around Aloy." the boy ran into some tall grass as he disappeared from Aloy's sight.
"Bye!" Aloy shouted "Aloy!" she then heard Rost's voice "Crap! I should run" she muttered.
With Naruto a couple minutes later he had been running looking over his shoulder in case Trel had spotted him but when he lost his footing he ended up falling into an ancient ruin, "Ah!" he shouted as he made a big splash into the water Naruto swam up as he gasped for air. Just then another body splashed into the water beside him, when the body came back gasping for air Naruto was shocked to see the girl from earlier.
"What the...Aloy?" Naruto questioned the red head since it was confusing to find the girl in this place, noticing Naruto, Aly spoke. "Hey, Naruto." the girl sounded pretty down." Noticing her tone Naruto asked "What happened?" the girl didn't say but Naruto concluded "So they did it to you too." the girl nodded as Naruto noticed she had no bruises "I guess you're lucky that their aim was pretty bad." Naruto tried to lighten the girl's mood. "They didn't try to hit me...a woman who was gathering with them told them to stay clear from me." she spilled the situation to Naruto who understood as that pretty much happened to him a lot, whenever he would sneak to Mother's Cradle when Trel wasn't looking.
"You know what I always tell myself when that situation keeps on happening."
"What?"
"You just have to keep on swimming, no matter the challenge you just need to keep on swimming."
"Just keep on swimming?" she questioned Naruto's quote but he nodded "Don't even worry about it, you can have me as a friend, you know us outcasts need to band together." Naruto said as the two floated on the water Aloy's smile returned on her face when Naruto said he'll be her friend. "Sure let's do it." just then Naruto noticed the machine hand coming out of the water that was about to grab Aloy. "Aloy get out of the water! Now!" Naruto shouted as he swam for safety, Aloy confused for a moment didn't have to stay confused as then the hand latched onto her leg. "Aaaah!" she screamed as it dragged her under water. Seeing this Naruto's chivalry kicked in as he swam to the rescue.
Swimming to Aloy, Naruto held the girl from behind as he tried to lift her up but he was losing since the hand was pulling Aloy down even further, with an idea popping up Naruto put his attention on the hand as he grabbed it's claws trying to budge them open hopping that Aloy could squeeze her leg out.
At first it was a very tough battle and Naruto could feel that he would need to come up surface to breath for air. Using all his strength in one last push Naruto opened the hand enough for Aloy to squeeze her leg out, getting her leg out Aloy swam up to catch a breath as she noticed Naruto wasn't following her, looking down she saw the blond was floating in the water and not moving. Reacting she came up as she took a deep breath in of air, diving down she raced to the blond's aid as she held his arm, swimming back up and dragging Naruto's body they eventually got out of the water, taking Naruto out, Aloy followed.
Couching out water Naruto took a deep breath in as he coughed once more. "Thank you." he wheezed out the words "No problem." Aloy replied as her attention changed to shouting for help. "Rost! Down here!" Naruto put his finger on the girl's mouth. "He won't (coughs) hear you the (coughs) best thing we can do is find a way out of this... umm kind of cave." Naruto deduced "Okay." Aloy replied.
"What the hell was that thing?" Aloy asked about the machine that caught her leg. "I think it was a machine. But it didn't look like the one's I see when I'm running around the Embrace."
"You run around the Embrace?!" Naruto nodded "Like as in the 'Entire' Embrace!"
"I'm very active."
The two began to walk through the cave just then a swarm of bats flew past past them, both kids covered their faces as protection till the bats had all passed. "Bats?! They only wake up in the day time so I guess me and you disturbed them." Naruto stated as he and Aloy continued to travel.
Moments later, the narrow passageway came to a halt, leaving only a hole tall and wide enough for the two children to pass through. "Looks tight, but we can get through." Aloy stated as Naruto watched the young girl squeeze through the cracks, following the girl they found themselves starring a much larger area. The walls and floors were not like the parts of the cave they explored, this area was different it had remnants of metal all over it. To their side there laid metal stairs which led down to the floor level. Both kids looked in shock as Naruto climbed onto the railings. "Wow! This must be a ruin of the Metal World!" Naruto thought out loud as his voice echoed in the room.
The two walked down the metal steps as they made their way through the enormous metal door, which was their only way forward since there was no other options. "The tainted earth, my dad calls them." Naruto told Aloy "Rost tells me that too." she replied. "Who's Rost?"
"He's the man that takes care of me."
"So he's you're father?" Aloy looked saddened a bit "No...I don't have any parents." seeing this Naruto felt a bit guilty for making the girl feel sad "Oh my bad I didn't mean to open up a wound."
"No it's alright. Besides Rost also told me not to go into places like this." she said softly as her expression changed. The blond outcast felt a sigh of relief as they returned to the objective at hand.
As they rounded a corner through another metal door, Aloy snapped Naruto out of his daze since he had been surprised by all the things that were in these ruins. "There's something up ahead."
Looking where she was gazing, Naruto was shocked when they walked into an enormous room of the ruin. Light seemed to pour into a sizable gap as it landed on a shape of sorts. "What's that?" Aloy whispered as Naruto shrugged. Getting closer to the object they were shocked beyond relief "A dead perosn!" they both stated horrified. Naruto who couldn't move from the horror just froze for a second as Aloy examined the body.
"There's something shiny there." Aloy pointed out. Naruto watched as his friend took a triangle looking arrowhead shaped thing as she put it on her temple. A small line of light glowed as Naruto wondered what the hell was the thing doing. Aloy threw the thing off, very quickly.
"What's wrong?! Did something happen?" Naruto asked. "No it's not that..." she was fascinated by the images she saw, so with curiousity, she picked it up as it sticked on her temple. From Naruto's perspective he saw the device light up as Aloy looked around. "What do you see?" Naruto asked "Light...everywhere." she replied as Naruto looked confused "Lights?"
"Yeah and you're also glowing Naruto."
"I am?" Aloy was going to say something when the device told her something interesting. "The device it's telling me something."
"What's it saying?"
"Naruto. Human. Male. Friendly. " Naruto looked confused "What's that mean?"
"I don't know I'm just reading what it's showing me." the device had scanned Naruto and it showed Aloy what it deduced what Naruto was. His race, name, gender, and if Naruto was dangerous. Anyway Aloy looked around the dome of light which had engulfed her when the device was activated, being mesmerized by the dazzling lights she had never seen in her life a small group of triangles which were above a small pile of rubble caught her attention, as just then when she had directed the hexagon-look alike shape to the rubble, a green light quickly rotated around the shape as it then disappeared being replaced by a grey-ish box that held information.
"Unknown network...device detected." she mumbled as she spoke "Naruto...the device it showed me some triangles."
"Triangles?" the blond questioned with confusion as the red head nodded, "It came from that pile of rocks." she pointed at the rubble. Naruto went to check out the rubble as he threw away the small rocks till is ocean blue eyes landed on a grey box. "What is it?" Aloy asked, Naruto held the object over his head "It's a box." he stated coherently as out of curiosity he opened the box only t be met by a metal inlay and the same device that Aloy had on her temple was there sitting in the middle of the inlay. Just under it was a label which looked smudged but Naruto could still read it "Focus?" he read out loud "What's a focus?" Aloy questioned "I think it's the name of the device...well from what the box tells me."
Taking the device out of the box Naruto placed it on the same spot as Aloy did as without warning the device leapt from his hand as it stuck on his temple. Just then a sound was heard and before Naruto knew it he was also seeing purple shapes and light.
"Wow...this is...SO COOL!" Naruto shouted out as his echo was heard all over the cave. With that he received a set of words from the Focus.
Greetings, new user. You must be filled with excitement for having a brand new Focus. Would you like to learn more about your Focus? Naruto read the words to himself and when he understood what the Focus was asking he accepted. "Oh so that's what it's saying." he thought out loud catching his read headed friend's attention. "What's what saying?" Naruto gazed beyond the dome to Aloy "The device wants to teach me how to use it." Naruto replied as a new set of words appeared.
As a new user of Fero tech, here are a few things to learn:
1. Your Focus allows you to have what we call a sixth sense, it allows you to see through walls, and other objects. It can also work as your personal cellphone so you might as well dump that thin block of software into the trash when you're done sending your personal information to the Focus.
'What's a cell...phone?' Naruto thought but sadly his question wouldn't be answered.
2. Your Focus doesn't have a charger because it get's it's energy from the sun! That's right the Focus is some sort of miniature solar panel, it was very tricky for our engineers to make this device so please recharge it when it's at low battery or else it will be severely damaged and sadly we can't fix it. So, if you want to save your money just do what we ask.
3. The Focus allows you to scan any *living* object and get information from it whether it is a rabbit or a fox. It will tell you everything and after that it will store the information in your personal 'Info Book'. Fun fact our technicians have added a feature that tells you everything about any robot that you scan. ISN'T THAT COOL!
'Robot?' Naruto was confused by the new word and sadly yet again he wouldn't be answered.
4. Last but not least your Focus can also connect to another Focus to create a network between the two of you, but just know without a server only a max of five devices can be in a network. Check this feature out now!
When Naruto finished reading the last thing he needed to know about his Focus he saw an icon that looked like two slightly curved lines and a small dot at the bottom of the two curved lines (he's seeing the Wi-Fi symbol), tapping the symbol, a small loading screen appeared as it was replaced by a set of words.
Another Focus has been detected would you like to send a pairing request?
'What's a pairing request?' Naruto would have thought deeply about this but he just shrugged it off as he replied yes. With Aloy she was in such a frenzy as all the bright lights and information boxes kept appearing whenever she scanned something. It was very fun for the little girl as this device was one of the few things that were positive in her life.
When a new set of words appeared out of nowhere she was startled to say the least. When she read the information she was confused by it. "What's a pairing request?" she stated which caught Naruto's attention. "What did you say Aloy?"
"I said...what's a pairing request. The device is showing me something 'A Nearby Focus wants to create a pairing with you, do you accept?" she finished reading, hearing this Naruto was surprised since that's what his device spoke about earlier. Telling the girl to accept it, it caused the two's devices to create a miniature network. After the small detour, the two continued to move deeper into the ruins as a section of the wall nearest to them was illuminating with purple light which they followed till they stopped at a metal door with a bright red ring.
"A metal door. Closed." Aloy observed, before looking at Naruto. "Maybe this device we found can help?"
The dome of purple light, which had disappeared after his hand had brushed against the device, now reappeared as he touched the metal surface with his fingers. Where there had been only the cold, hard metal moments before, glowing purple lines now shone before his eyes.
"A shape," Aloy said, her hand also on the strange device stuck to her head. "It's connected to the door somehow..."
Naruto scanned around as his eyes landed on some lines that were somehow connected to the door, when he followed the lines he noted they lead to a small metal box. "I've got an idea." Naruto told Aloy. "I'll be right back." he told the girl as he went to the room beside the hallway.
"Mmm...what does this do." Naruto played with the rings as he followed the instructions the box was showing. When they all spinned and turned bright blue a small chirp was heard. "Naruto the door it changed colours!" Aloy's voice was heard from the other room. "Huh...I guess that worked."
When the doors hissed open both kids continued to trudge forward.
