The young boy sat on pieces of rubble, his eyes stared on, boring into the orb-like being. His lips parted before asking.

"C-Can you talk"

The being blinked metaphorically, while it understood this question, rather you could say it was confused.

Those whom desire to speak with it don't ask such...childish questions.

"Yes"

The young boy's eyes metaphorically dazzled, amazed at the rather simple response. The being is left confused at the inclusion of another strange feeling.

What is this boy?

"Wow, how do you speak without lips. Is it magic?" The young boy muttered, putting clear effort into keeping his voice low.

Again what is this strange feeling, it's different to the one before.

"Of course"

The young boy pumped his fist as his eyes shined even brighter and he muttered,"so cool." His stupor soon ended as another question came to mind.

"Well, what else can you do?" He said, his young mind filled with exiting possibilities.

"Quite a lot"

Like a dam broken, water or in this case ideas rush within, all combined in a giant mess. The young boy is struggling for which one to ask first.

Knowing his time here will have to end soon.

"L-Like can you make like umm a giant ship?" The child stuttered. His eyes brightened in anticipation.

"Yes"

"Wow"

Yes please continue

The being has always believed itself to be hollow, devoid of any emotions. One could say it preexists such things.

To hold, what it never had. Perhaps forever.

Yet, as it continues to stare in the boys eyes, a feeling of acceptance welled within it.

What is it?

Though it will not be immediately noticed. A change is about to occur, for the being it felt that it's power was more than hollow.

An acknowledgment for its own power for the first time. For the being can never be hollow, it was never meant to.

"So what is your favorite food?" The young boy asked as he comb his messy hair slightly.

"No comment" A dry response, the young boy dipped his head in disappointment but he doesn't give up. In his mind, he could not.

His head rose up and stared with fierce determination and drive. Though it resembled more of a puppy dog, his frown was more of a pout but he was giving it his all.

He must a question, one that anyone can relate and understand. One that will give him an actual answer.

One that will make the being smile.

"Do you have a favorite color?" He asked determinedly despite the...nature of the question.

Ah?!

The young boy stared agape, his plan seemingly crumbling to pieces. The unexpectedness gave him little time to think.

"...okay, let's try-ah! What do you like to do for fun?" He asked as he tried to find...something. Some question that would finally break the outer shell.

It seems fate is cruel to the young boy as his once vicious resolve is now dying embers to a snow storm.

He stared on to the being that is the cause of his heartbreak.

"..."

"..."

He had to say something, anything so he did. The one thing that could encapsulate this misadventure.

Truly this is.

"...you-er-you are very...how should I say this, kinda...flat"

A dead silence befell the area. It seemed that while the being could not understand the meaning of what the world represent. It could interpret as an...insult, maybe.

Truly this boy brings with him a plethora of new experiences.

"..."

"...No comment"

To the young boy, he made no progress in truly understanding the being. To truly see what his new friend is, as he knows that there is someone in there...wishing.

Now with renewed drive, he will achieve this goal, to bring out the person within the birded cage.

A cage trapping one's true self.

Unaware to the boy however, his questions whether intentional or not brought a sense of lightness to the being.

A single crack.

One of many.

Questions hidden from all but it self, asking from and for itself.

To finally seek an answer.

What is my favorite color?

The world isn't flat...right. Im not flat...right?"

No one said all questions are existential.

That's is it everyone.

Welcome to A Life In Blood Haze.

You know how most writers have Author's note to communicate with their audience. Well originally I had intended it for the AN to be at the end of every chapter but I don't want it to cover one-sixth of the chapter so I thought, why don't I have my ANs on a separate story.

One where I can answer questions, give a bit of backstory to the story itself. The writing process, some of the unseen Betas, that sort of thing but once I read the terms and agreement, I found an Issue.

Technically speaking, you are not allowed to post ANs on their own, you can at the end of a story but it can't be considered as a chapter. I know a lot of people do this but I don't want to take any risk so here's the compromise.

This story are canonical(or not if you want) bits of stories that I considered for character development but never did as it could break the tone of a chapter. Let's be honest if this section was part of the prologue, all the tension would go away so that's why I put them here.

Whether you choose them to be canonical is for you. They are just snippets of character interactions so their won't be some big plot twist. Just characters talking. So wait on Sunday for that.

Anyway since this is the first chapter I'll leave you with this. If you want I could talk about how this story came about next time.

P.S

You may ask what does the being sound like. Well the being is...let's say ambiguous, you interpret what it sounds like.

Bloopers, non-canonical but just things that I couldn't get out of my head.

"Do you have a favorite color?" He asked determinedly despite the...nature of the question.

"No comment" The young boy stared as he gave a deadpan look.

Ah?! The lion and the witch, and the audacity of this bitch.

Truly this boy brings with him a plethora of new experiences.

"..."

"...No-"

"I dare you to say no comment," The young boy said, seemingly fed up with this orb of madness.

Okay let's get into those comments.

Ya boi : Thank you I appreciate the compliment. Yes that first chapter is to step-up the tone of the story plus it hints at future plot points.

Friend (Guest) : Thanks and I do try to be consistent. It'll be difficult but if I'm ever behind. I'll notify on this story.

Okay really goodbye for now and see you next time.
