Chapter 1

Jon Snow Stark POV

I wake up to my alarm at 6:30. It's still dark outside, but I need to go wake up my brothers and sisters. It's the first day of school. I'm a junior now.

I feel like I should be happy about it, I'm an upperclassman now. I'm not, though. I've never been popular, and I know this year will be no different.

I have my own room, now. I used to share it with my older brother, Robb before he left for college. All my siblings are resentful that they still have to share a room, but it's not as great as it sounds.

I have to take my sister sansa to school with me, she starts her freshman year today. I'm worried about her, Winterfell is ruthless. But she's going to be a cheerleader, that should help.

I love my family, but I know I'm treated differently and I know why. My mother wishes I wasn't around. And honestly, it would probably make things easier on them if I wasn't.

After I wake up Sansa, she wakes up our sister Arya that's sleeping next to her. I try to wake up Bran and Rickon, but they're much harder to get up and moving. They're still in bed by the time Arya and Sansa are up and moving.

My parents get Bran and Rickon up, and they run out of the house with granola bars and Arya in tow to go to their respective schools. My mom usually takes them to school while my dad heads to work. They work together, and she'll join him after dropping off the kids.

Of course, we're running late so Sansa can do her makeup. I would get mad at her, but I don't blame her for wanting to make a good impression. It's her first day of high school, and she's heard the stories about how Winterfell treats freshmen. I'm worried about her, but I won't tell her that. She's nervous enough.

"You look very pretty." I say as she comes down the stairs and I hand her her lunchbox. She just smiles at me.

"I'm scared, Jon," Sansa says to me. We're in the car by now. "What if no one likes me?"

"Didn't you make friends at cheer camp? What about Margaery?"

"You know none of that matters if Daenerys doesn't like me. I was too scared to talk to her during cheer camp."

She's talking about Daenerys Stormborn-Targaryen. I hate saying this because it's so ridiculous and cliche, but she really is the most popular girl in school. She's a senior, so Margaery will probably replace her next year.

"You'll be fine." It's the only thing I can say because she's right. Daenerys is the one who needs to like her for her to have a chance at Winterfell.

We pull up to school. This is it, let the games begin.
