Kairi sat down on the sand, looking bored out of her mind. Things were quiet after the Keyblade War with Xehanort. A little too quiet.

Sure, her friends came over every now and again to hang out on the beach and have a party, watching Sora be a goofball with Roxas and Ven, Aqua doing a majestic swan dive into the ocean water, Lea and Terra arm wrestling while Isa was placing bets on the latter…

But those moments never lasted. It was back to being bored out of her mind. She wanted some excitement in her life. It all just got so boring after Xehanort's defeat. Where's all the action and excitement again? She needed something… and she didn't mean the occasional Heartless that would pop up every now and again.

She could go to a different world, but what would she do there? Sit on the clock tower of Twilight Town, eating Sea Salt Ice Cream while listening to the three knuckleheads ramble on with her nothing to add? Have a pleasant conversation with Aqua or Queen Minnie? Revisit Radiant Garden for old time's sake?

She laid down on her back, looking at the clouds with a sigh, letting the water touch her feet without a care in the world. She closed her eyes, feeling the warm water embrace her feet… and then, something touched her feet that made her jump.

She quickly sat back up, wondering what just touched her. She looked up to see a bottle that wasn't there before. She reached over and grabbed it, then seeing there was a piece of paper inside of it. She curiously opened it up to see what it read.

"Bored out of your mind? Wish there was something you could do? Then come on over to the Mushroom Kingdom where adventure awaits!"

"Mushroom… Kingdom?" Kairi wondered and then right on cue, a keyhole appeared in front of her. She curiously looked at it before having a smile on her face. "Oh, I'm sure the boys won't mind if I snuck away for a few… they'd probably think I'd went to say hi to Aqua." She said, aiming Destiny's Embrace at the keyhole and fired a beam of light at it, and then she was enveloped in a bright light.

Kairi opened her eyes shortly afterward… she felt lighter all of a sudden. A few clouds went past her, where she noticed the clouds in particular had eyes. "Huh…?" She wondered as she looked down and saw that she was falling. "Wah!" She yelped as she quickly corrected herself so she would land feet first… but the problem is, she didn't know where to land.

Crap! She thought as she desperately searched for something that would cushion her landing, but she didn't see anything that would be of much help. "Mmph! Careful what I wish for…" She said to herself, unaware that she was about to land on a Note Block, which she landed on… and bounced off. "Whoooooa!" She yelped as she landed on another note block, and then another before landing on a Parabeetle.

"Mmph…!" Kairi grunted as she noticed what she was riding on. "Uh, hello… uh… sir? Can you drop me off?" She asked as the Parabeetle looked up and with a nod, it gently flew down to a town.

BGM: Toad Town (Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story)

Once they were at the ground, Kairi hopped off. "Thanks!" She said as the Parabeetle nodded and then flew off. "Phew, talk about lucky." She said as she looked around, seeing a bunch of mushroom people going about their day. She would turn her head and see a big open field and the other way, she would see a big castle.

"Whoa… it's a nice change of pace." She said as she walked around, but something was troubling her. Who sent her that letter and why did it send her to this… Mushroom Kingdom?

Oh well, she'll get her answer eventually. She decided to wander around and see what this kingdom had to offer. She glanced over at the various locations in the town. Shy Guy Buffet, Coconut Mall, Biddybud Froyo, Gelato Delfino, Dolphin Surfing, Wiggler Creamery and other such locations.

"Oh wow… so many options…" She said as she wandered around until she found herself at a pier. She curiously walked over to see the many ships docked at the pier.

"Anyone wanting to go to Rogueport? It's quite the adventure! Any takers?" A Toad spoke up, catching Kairi's attention as she walked over to him. "Any take-… oh hello there, young lady, what can I do for you?"

"Hi, uh, I heard you were offering to go to this… Rogueport. I'd like to go."

"Oooh, are you sure about this, miss? Rogueport ain't for the faint of heart."

"How bad can it be? I'm a tough girl!"

"…Okay, but don't say I didn't warn you." He said as he let her in as she walked into the boat. She had a massive grin on her face. This was gonna be great! She'll go on a mini adventure to scratch this itch of hers, and then she'll be back by sunset without anyone worrying about her. This is perfect!

"Excuse us! Are there any seats left?" A voice caught Kairi's ears but she didn't pay it any mind.

"Ah, Princess Peach!"

Princess Peach? Kairi thought, immediately thinking of a peach wearing a crown. Huh?

"You wanting to go to Rogueport? With a dainty princess like you?"

"I have Toadsworth keeping me company. How bad can it be?"

"Ooookay, suit yourself. Don't blame me if you get hurt and the Mario Bros aren't around!"

"I won't get into trouble, I promise!" Peach smiled as she walked onto the boat with Toadsworth, walking inside the main lobby and sitting down on a chair. Kairi was sitting across from her, completely in awe.

Holy cow, she's gorgeous! She thought.

"Hmm?" Peach turned her attention to Kairi. "Oh, hello there! I haven't seen the likes of you in this kingdom before."

"That's because I just dropped into town." Literally.

"Oh, that's wonderful! Where are you from?"

Kairi hesitated a bit, thinking of what she'd say. I'm in the Mushroom Kingdom… I hope this is a good enough answer. She thought. "Mushroom… City?"

"Oh, Mushroom City? How wonderful! What brought you here?"

That's actually a place in this world?! "Oh, I wanted to explore and have an adventure or two… and well, here I am."

Peach giggled. "I'm just going on vacation."

"Oh, wonderful!" Kairi smiled.

"What's your name?"

"Kairi. What's yours?"

"Princess Peach Toadstool, but you can just call me Peach." She giggled. "This is my steward, Toadsworth."

"Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kairi." Toadsworth said humbly, and then they felt the boat move.

BGM: The Great Sea (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker)

"Attention all passengers, we are now disembarking to Rogueport. Enjoy the ride!"

"Oh!" Peach turned her head as she looked outside. "Look at that!" She said, walking over to the side of the boat as Kairi accompanied her… and saw a huge whale breaching out of the water.

"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaail!"

"Whoa!" Kairi exclaimed. That thing's about the size of a blimp! She thought as it crashed down into the water and splashed the ship, hitting the girls and Toadsworth. "Ack!"

Peach giggled. "Just what we needed~!" She smiled.

"Yeah." Kairi nodded, letting out a giggle.

Later…

The ship docked out at the pier of Rogueport. "Here we are, Rogueport! Please be careful as you wander around town. Thank you!"

"I will go get ourselves a room at the inn." Toadsworth said as they made their way to Rogueport Square, and then Toadsworth himself hurried over to the inn.

"Mmm… I have to say, it's definitely a fixer upper." Peach said.

"No kidding." Kairi agreed, then spotting what was in the middle of the square that made her pale up. Okay… note to self: Do NOT get on this town's bad side! She thought, staring at the noose in front of her.

"Psst, you two!" A voice spoke up as they turned to see a merchant on the ground. "Over here! You two seem like nice young people."

"Oh?" Peach wondered.

"What are you selling?" Kairi wondered.

"Well, you see… I'm giving away these items that I don't need anymore. Like this toy for example. It's cute, it's fashionable and best of all, it doesn't break!" And right on cue, the toy's head fell off. "…It broke." She deadpanned.

"I dunno… nothing looks that appealing." Peach said.

"I have to agree… it's nothing but old junk." Kairi said.

"Ah ah ah, hold on a moment! You haven't seen what's in this box." She said, pushing it forward. "In this box, there is something in here that will definitely catch your eyes!"

"Oh?" Both girls wondered as they took the box as they both looked at each other.

"You want to do the honors, Kairi?"

"No no no, princesses first."

"Aw, but I insist!" Peach smiled warmly.

"Oh… alright." Kairi nodded, slowly opening the box as they were suddenly enveloped in a bright light.

Meanwhile, back at Destiny Islands…

"Kairi? Kairi!" Sora called out. "That's odd… where'd she go?" He wondered as he noticed the bottle on the ground as he picked it up, curiously examining in.

"Mushroom… Kingdom?" Sora tilted his head, before quickly turning around. "Hey Riku! Namine! Come here a sec, you gotta come see this!" He said, as he ran off to the duo.

How many times am I gonna do Thousand Year Door? How many times am I gonna have the Shadow Queen appear throughout my stories? The answer is yes.
