The sun rises over the primordial landscape as conifer and monkey-puzzle trees stood in the early morning light of dawn.
Sunlight grows as a shallow stream flows near some hills as the entire landscape around seems to look from a lost world.
On the muddy bank near the shore of a lake, 2 tree trunks stood in the mud of an odd shape as an insect lands on the side of one. And soon flew over to the other one, but then the side of the strange trunk shivered as the insect flies off as a third strange tree trunk stood. But then the strange tree trunk lifts up from the mud revealing to be actually a tree trunk-like leg as a bellow fills the air.
The leg took a step landing in the mud with a thud as skin jostled as the 4 tree trunk-like legs supports a colossal creature with a mammoth body, a long tail, and a long neck held in the air with a small head to it's body size.
This colossal reptilian creature will 1 day be known as the greatest creatures to have ever existed on planet Earth.
The dinosaurs.
Dinosaurs are a group of reptiles that descended from the Archosaurs in the distant past and branched off from crocodiles from a common ancestor. Since then, dinosaurs multiple and took over the world. Growing to gigantic sizes, and evolved into powerful killers, and and even claimed the poles.
This particular species of dinosaur belongs to a family called the Sauropods. The class of longnecked, 4-legged dinosaurs that grew to become the largest land animals of all time. It was a species of Sauropod that will 1 day be called Dreadnoughtus.
Dreadnoughtus is one of the largest land animals to have ever lived, standing over 20 feet at the shoulder, 85 feet long and weighing as much as 65 tons. A future find will show this titan with much of it's skeleton, ribcage, legs, tail, and 2 bones in it's neck. But the find will also indicates that the skeleton was actually a teenager, likely a sub-adult. Dreadnoughtus belongs to a family of Sauropods called Titanosaurs, the largest of all Sauropods. And the true giants of the Cretaceous. And the name, Dreadnoughtus, literally means, "Fears Nothing".
As big as Dreadnoughtus was, it wasn't the biggest. The true biggest dinosaur was a cousin to Dreadnoughtus called Argentinosaurus, which grew to 130 feet in length, and weighed an epic 100 tons. A dinosaur so big, that no other land animal barely comes close.
These giants were almost invincible.
The Dreadnoughtus steadily treads over the mudflat as 3 other Dreadnoughtus were nearby as bellows of their calls fill the air. One Dreadnoughtus treads by the shoreline of the lake, and 2 others were bathing in the water as one was further out nearly up to it's shoulders, and the other just to where the water was near it's underbelly. The Dreadnoughtus then lowers it's head and long neck as a flock of winged reptiles called pterosaurs fly off. And the Dreadnoughtus dips it's head into the water to grab a mouthful of water plants.
The pterosaurs fly as a giant among them soars in and flapped it's massive wings slowing it's descent and lands on the mud bank by 3 others of it's kind by an old carcass. Pterosaurs are a distant cousin to dinosaurs, and have ruled the skies for over 150 million years.
And they came in all sizes.
The giant pterosaur belongs to a family of pterosaurs called Azhdarchids, the largest of all pterosaurs. This particular species will be one day called, Queztalcoatlus.
Eventually to be named after the Serpent God of the Aztec, it was the biggest flying creature of all time. A wingspan of 40 feet, it was as wide as a future World War II fighter plane. And on the ground, it stood 20 feet, tall enough to look a giraffe in the eye.
The smaller pterosaurs rushed off as the Queztalcoatlus grabs one with it's 9-foot beak and tossed it away and squawks out loudly.
Despite their massive wings, Queztalcoatlus are also comfortable on all 4s on the ground.
Elsewhere in the primeval land, at a river, a herd of 5 armored dinosaurs were drinking as they were so heavily armored, that even their eyelids are harden.
It's a species of dinosaur that will eventually be called, Ankylosaurus. Meaning Fused Lizard.
Ankylosaurus has one of, if not, the most impressive defense of any dinosaur, possible any creature that ever lived. A harden back that can stop a predator from biting, and a massive heavy tail club that be used like a Medieval mace and shatter an attacker's leg.
Their armor made them virtually indestructible.
An Ankylosaurus lifts it's head up from drinking and snorted and lightly bellowed.
Elsewhere along the river, at a rocky ledge, a flock of pterosaurs were nesting on the ledge as a few flew around. With a wingspan of 20 feet, Pteranodon is one of the most common pterosaurs of the Late Cretaceous. They often nest on high ledges and cliffs, and those by the shore venture out to sea to fish.
Caws, screeches and squawks fill the air as one lands on a ledge where it's nest is. And another dives into the water to snatch a fish.
Pterosaurs were among the first flying vertebrates to evolved, and birds soon followed. And in the future another vertebrate will evolve powered flight as well, bats.
A thin membrane of skin from a long finger to it's ankle makes the wing of the pterosaur, and tiny fiber-like structures makes them strong. And their bones are hollow making them much lighter for an animal of it's size.
Elsewhere in a primordial cave, a small 2-legged dinosaur covered in white feathers and a head crest approaches a nest with a clutch of 5 eggs.
This odd-looking dinosaur will be eventually known as Oviraptor, meaning Egg Thief.
Oviraptors feed on plants, small animals like insects, lizards, small mammals, and carrion from large carcasses. But eggs are a delicacy for them.
The Oviraptor looks around to be sure it was alone, and once it knew the coast was clear, the Oviraptor brought one of the eggs to it's feet. And soon jabs the egg with it's bony beak and breaks through the shell, and soon starts feeding. A distant screech nearby had the Oviraptor on alert.
Elsewhere, a large herd of horned dinosaurs were migrating in search of new feeding grounds.
Belonging to a group of famous horned dinosaurs called Ceratopisans, this species will be known as Nasutoceratops, meaning Long-nosed Horned Face. At 15 to 16 feet from head to tail and weighing 3,400 pounds, it's half the size of it's more famous cousin, Triceratops. And it has the longest brow horns of the Centrosaurids, and they are shaped like those of a bull. As each species of horned dinosaur has it's own design of horns and frills, each for a different purpose of displaying and intimidating predators or rivals.
The Nasutoceratops walked by the leaves of palmettos as snorts and grunts fill the air, and one adult approaches a baby at least a year old. And a large male with a broken-off right brow horn, either losing from a fight with a predator or from challenging another male turns and heads off. As the herd crosses a river as a trio of Nasutoceratops were wallowing and bathing in the river as the herd was made of dozens of them.
Elsewhere on the primeval landscape, a tiny feathered dinosaur around 3 feet long was pecking and nibbling between the serrated knife-like teeth of a much larger predatory dinosaur getting at the meat from it's last meal.
The dinosaur is a small species of Theropod eventually to be Moros Intrepidus, belonging to a family of Tyrannosaurids.
As the Moros pecks between the teeth, it's also giving the larger dinosaur a teeth cleaning. As the Moros gets a free meal, the dinosaur gets a cleaning. This is a behavior called symbiosis, where 2 animals benefit something. And other symbiotic relationships occur with other animals, birds and crocodiles share a similar benefit, as well as cleaner fish and sharks in the ocean.
As the Moros continues cleaning the teeth, the dinosaur lightly growled as it stirs. The Moros turns and flees as the carnivore's enormous head lifts up.
Nearby, a plant-eating dinosaur was grazing on the ground plants as a shadow looms over it as it turns to the dinosaur and lightly grunted. It was a 30-foot, 3 ton herbivore that will be called Iguanodon.
The predator rose to it's full height as it had 3-clawed fingers on each arm, a length of 45 feet and weighing as much as 8 tons. This is the 2nd largest land predator to have ever lived, a voracious hunter that will be called Giganotosaurus, the Giant Southern Lizard.
The Giganotosaurus stood at it's full height and growled.
The Iguanodon then quickly heads off as a large foot of another predatory dinosaur arrives as a Cretaceous bird flies off shrieking.
But this predator was different, smaller at 40 feet and weighing 7 tons, and covered in a light coat of feathers due to it's size. This Theropod has a different head shape and shorter arms with 2 fingers. But this infamous predator has gone down in history as the greatest predator of all time. A monster that has ruled the world for 3 million years, and was the meanest and scariest of them all.
Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The T. Rex stares at the Giganotosaur and lightly growled as a Queztalcoatlus soars in the air.
The T. Rex's right foot lands on the ground with a thud as it and the Giganotosaurus begin to confront each other as large predators are extremely territorial of their hunting grounds. They begin to circle each other as neither want to risk heavily injuring themselves as they test each other. The Rex lightly snaps at the Giga as it roars as they circle each other. And both had their strengths and weaknesses to use to their advantage. The Tyrannosaurus then roars as well as the Giganotosaurus as then T. Rex was the first to charge with open jaws.
The Giganotosaurus quickly deflects the attack ramming it's head against the Rex's, and then momentarily tries to pin the Tyrannosaurus under it's weight. But the T. Rex kept it's footing as the Giga snaps it's jaws, as the 2 giants clashed, the Giganotosaur's right foot lands at the edge of the bank of a slope as the ground broke loose as it momentarily slipped but kept a grip on the ground as it turns. As the 2 try to get at each other's throats, the Giganotosaurus shoves the Rex and lifts up and bites down on the Tyrannosaurus' neck as it roars in pain.
The Giganotosaurus then turns as it dragged the T. Rex towards the bank as it nears the edge, and then the Giga clamps it's jaws down hard on the Rex's neck as a bone-chilling snap was heard as the Rex's neck was snapped. The ledge starts to break apart as the T. Rex was still on it's feet as the Giga was still holding down as parts of the ledge hit the water and soon the Tyrannosaurus hits the stream on it's side as it's pupil expand as it was now dead.
Then, a mosquito appeared as it flew around buzzing and lands on the side of the Tyrannosaurus' face. It then sticks it's proboscis through it's thick scaly skin and soon pierce through into the blood vessels underneath. And she soon starts sucking a drink of blood as her abdomen swells up and turns red.
Once done, the mosquito flies buzzing to find a secure puddle of water to lay her eggs. And the Giganotosaurus heads off.
But 1 day, that mosquito will be the key to something revolutionary.
Elsewhere in the primeval world of the Cretaceous, in a remote area where Montana 1 day be. The sun shines over the ash fields of a large gully.
And then loud footsteps were heard along with growling.
When the greatest predator ever known left it's footprint on history.
Soon appearing the ridge of the hill came a male Tyrannosaurus Rex.
The Tyrannosaurus soon arrives at the hilltop and scans the area and noticed a shape below the hill.
Normally a stranger to this remote place.
The Tyrannosaurus then begins to investigate as he heads towards the creature.
The T. Rex has been forced from his usual hunting ground. Something has been raiding his territory, and food has grown scarce. He hasn't eaten for days.
In the crater, the creature was unaware of the approaching Tyrannosaurus as it flapped it's large wings stirring a cloud of dust.
But it wasn't a pterosaur.
The T. Rex soon adopts a more cautious approach as he has never seen a creature like this before.
He has stumbled on the lair of the most astonishing carnivore that ever lived.
The T. Rex tilted his head in a curious unsure way of what to make of the strange creature and continues his approach.
And then the creature suddenly senses his presence and looks back and faces him.
It was a strange reptile similar to his body shape but smaller than him, long thin legs, 2 wings with a claw on the wing joint, a long neck and small head with a pair of short horns, and has a black and white coloration. It was a creature that will 1 day lead to the stuff of myth and legend.
The Prehistoric... Dragon.
The dragon roars at the Tyrannosaurus as he roars back at it.
And now this dragon is in real danger.
The T. Rex roars making a mock lunge as he has a clear weight advantage.
Dwarfed by the gigantic T. Rex, it attempts to bluff.
The T. Rex roared as the dragon then held it's wings out high revealing 2 red eye spots as it tries to intimidate and discourage him. Extending it's wings to give the appearance that it is much larger than it really is.
The dragon screeched as it continues it's intimidation display as the T. Rex roared.
But the ravenous Rex is an experienced hunter. He isn't fooled.
The Tyrannosaurus roars at the dragon as it knows it's trick wasn't working.
So the dragon tries another strategy.
Then the dragon lets out a loud ear-shattering shriek as the Tyrannosaurus found himself shaking his head from the painful sound to his ears. As this was the dragon's second line of defense.
A piercing shriek that briefly stuns the dinosaur.
The dragons continues shrieking at the top of it's lungs as it echoes throughout the volcanic landscape.
The cry carries for miles.
In the air, it has caught the attention on something.
The Tyrannosaurus shakes his head and soon recovers from the shriek.
Still the Rex refuses to yield.
The T. Rex then roars at the dragon and charges.
And there's nowhere to hide.
The dragon steps back seeing no other choice, it then charges and snaps nears the Rex's face as he steps back and roars. As it was a prehistoric David and Goliath showdown, between a dragon and a T. Rex more than 3 times it's weight as they roar at each other.
But the dragon still has 1 trick left to play.
The dragon screeches the T. Rex roars at it.
Then, a shape was seen in the air approaching them.
And here she comes.
The T. Rex was the first to noticed as he turns to the air as well as the dragon.
The creature then lunges into a snatching position with talons out and roars delivering a strike on the Tyrannosaur's head as it lands on the ground. The T. Rex backs away from with gashes on his head as he turns and roars at the creature as it was a larger dragon with yellow markings, and the first dragon screeches as he was actually a juvenile.
The T. Rex roared at the bigger dragon as she is the mother of the youngster.
This is an adult female, a fully grown Prehistoric Dragon.
The T. Rex and the mother dragon confront each other as she has accomplished the most important thing as the Tyrannosaurus roared.
Get herself between her juvenile, and the Tyrant King of Dinosaurs.
The Tyrannosaurus then charges and body slams the mother dragon back as she jabs her jaws at the Rex.
This is her territory, and she is protecting her son.
The mother dragon screeches as the T. Rex roars at her. Then the mother dragon lunges into the air swinging her left foot at the Rex, and then the Tyrannosaurus lunges forward and his enormous jaws clamp down on the dragon's left wing on the joint as she drops to her feet. The mother dragon roars in pain as the youngster screeches in shock.
The T. Rex soon released his grip and steps back roaring at the dragon.
Fueled by bloodlust, the mother dragon suddenly fires a blast stream of fire at the ravenous dinosaur unleashing her rage and striking the Rex on the head. The mother dragon roared as she continues her attack, and soon the Tyrannosaurus runs off having met his match.
The mother dragon soon ceases her attack as the young dragon screeches.
The T. Rex weakly heads off as smoke billows from his burnt wound and growls shaking his head. As he was heavily injured.
The Tyrannosaurus will not last the night.
The T. Rex weakly heads off as he will be lucky to live much longer.
The mother dragons roars at the dinosaur as he leaves.
Fire is the dragon's weapon of last resort.
The mother turns to her injured wing and licks her wound as her son went to her side.
But she delivered the final blow too late.
With a broken wing she can no longer hunt. And she can no longer feed herself, or her offspring.
The young dragon growled as his mother rests her head over his.
2 weeks later, animal calls fill the air as the young dragon is unfortunately in dire trouble.
As he stood by his mother's dead body.
The injury his mother sustain in the fight with the T. Rex has proved fatal.
Infection and blood loss have finally taken their toll.
He cannot fly, and with no one to hunt for him, he too will die.
After 2 days, her smell is already starting to attract scavengers.
The young dragon roared as he snaps at 2 passing Pteranodons flying by.
For the moment, their just pterosaurs. But who knows what other creatures may pick up the scent.
Other Pteranodons circled in the air as the dragon knows there are other predators out there to worry about.
The young dragon lingers by his mother's body. At 6 years, his wing musculature is fully developed. But untested.
Young dragons learn to fly when their mothers push them out on their own. But it's usually not as sudden as this.
This young dragon has lost his mother at a critical moment.
He may never get off the ground.
The young dragon roars as he flapped his wings.
If he is to survive, he must discover the power of flight on his own.
Hours later, the Pteranodons continue to circle in the air.
And the young Prehistoric Dragon is still by his mother's carcass as this point he was starving.
Unable to hunt, he exploits the only food available to them.
He soon bends down tears off a slab of flesh from his mother's body and swallows it.
His mother's meat will keep him alive for a few days. But if he can't fly, he can't hunt.
His future looks bleak.
Yet, even in death...
His mother may still help him.
Inside his internal anatomy, his stomach starts to work on the swallowed meat.
All creatures contain bacteria in their gut that help break down food. And in the process, the bacteria release metabolic byproducts: Gas. But the bacteria inside dragons are unique, they release Hydrogen. And unlike other animals, a dragon's gas doesn't go to waste. The Hydrogen is channeled into 2 storage sacks, the dragon's flight bladders.
Along with a super-light skeleton, the gas-filled flight bladders are the keys to dragon flight.
Providing you know how to use them.
And now this young dragon's sophisticated flight system is about to be put to the test.
And this young dragon will have to learn fast.
While the pterosaurs wait their turn, a more dangerous creature has picked up the scent of his decomposing mother.
Then, an adult dragon with a broken left horn has wandered deep in his mother's territory appeared and descends. And it was the most dangerous creature imaginably.
An older male dragon.
The young dragon roars as he turns to the elderly dragon as he lands.
His broken horns and dull appearance betray a dragon at the end of his days.
The old male begins to approach them.
And he is bad news to the juvenile.
Constant territorial battles mean that male dragons rarely reach old age, few live pass 40. But this dragon is still around.
He's a survivor. And he's hungry.
The young dragon backs away in a submissive stance as the old male approaches his mother's corpse and sniffs it.
Pushed from his territory by a younger and fitter male, this dragon is a nomad. He now wanders in search of food, scavenging other kills more often than making his own.
But given the choice, he'd prefer fresh meat.
Sensing that he was in serious trouble, the young dragon turns and flees as fast as his legs to carry him as the old male turns to him.
And this time, his mother isn't there to save him.
The elderly dragon then begins to chase after him.
The old nomad closes with surprising speed.
The old dragon roared as he chased after the youngster.
The juvenile's only hope of survival is to get airborne.
The youngster ran for his life as the old male is right behind him as pursuits after him.
Soon, the chase leads them into a grove of trees.
Cleverly, he heads for the trees. He knows the old male cannot fly here.
The young dragon ran as the the old male snaps his jaws just missing him as he made a sharp turn to the right. As the confined space of the trees seem to slow the old male down buying him time.
Inside, his body is working overtime. His heart beating, his muscles pumping. Hydrogen being generated at a prodigious rate.
But it's still not enough.
The young dragon continues running as the old male continues pursuing him.
They soon back out into the open as as the old male is started to close in.
His flight bladders may be full, but so is his stomach. The undigested meat is weighing him down, and so instinct takes over.
The young dragon continues running as he bypasses a tree as the old male was right behind him snapping at his tail.
At the last moment, he empties his stomach.
The young dragon then regurgitates the undigested meat as he nears a high ledge.
And he spreads his wings, at last.
The young dragon nears the ledge and spreads out his wings and went over the edge as the old male slows to a stop.
Soon, after a few moments. The young dragon seen flying off as the old male roars out loudly.
Exhausted, the old male abandons the chase.
He soon turns away and begins to make his way back to the corpse.
And the young dragon flies off in the distance.
The young dragon has finally found his wings, and takes flight for the first time in his life.
But if he is to live and fight another day, he will have to master another legendary evolutionary adaptation. Something that his kind has inherit for generations.
He must learn to breathe fire.
Several years have pass, and the juvenile Prehistoric Dragon is now a young adult.
High the air above the Inland Sea that covers the middle region of North America splitting it in 2, the male Prehistoric Dragon soars through the air and has grown into a mature young adult.
He is homeless, and without a territory, he will never mate or have a regular supply of food.
But his time has come.
In the past, he strayed accidentally in other territories of males. But today will be different.
He has flown deep inside the territory of a dominant male. It is a daring act. Half of all young males are killed in territorial battles.
The young male continues flying as he flew pass a mountain peak.
The dull coat of adolescence has transformed into a vibrant display. Designed to intimidate rival males and attract females.
Later, the dragon hangs on the side of a cliff and strangely starts feeding off sections of the rock face.
He prepares for the fight of his life. Before continuing, he stops to consume a rare and valuable mineral found in the heart of all dragon territories. Not a mineral that will spark his energy, this is a mineral that will spark his fire.
This is a Platinum deposit.
Platinum is one of the rarest elements on Earth, it will one day be used for metal. But platinum also happens to have flammable properties. So dragons consume platinum enriched rocks to trigger their flame. For a predator, they surprisingly have grinding molars in their jaws to grind the rock to powder. But the other secret to their ability to breathe fire, is in their flight bladders. As well as platinum, the hydrogen is also the key for breathing fire. Hydrogen not only helps dragons to fly, but also to breathe fire as the platinum ignites the hydrogen as a catalyst.
As soon as the male dragon has consumed enough platinum, instinct tells him to move on as he flies off.
Further away, another male dragon shows his presence with a fire display.
In the heart of his 100 square miles of territory, the resident dragon sends a blazing message into the air.
The resident dominant male dragon fires a stream of flame into the air as he stood on a mountain peak. A warning for other males to read. It signals to challengers and females alike, that he is fit, healthy, and confident enough to waste the precious resource of fire on a display.
The message is not lost on the young male.
The young male dragon soon saw the burning message and begins to makes his way towards it.
If he has any chance at all of winning this duel, he must be at his very best.
The stakes are high.
With territory comes with a guaranteed supply of food, and the one thing that every young male needs if he is to leave his mark on the next generation.
Females.
On the ground below, a female dragon was drinking at the shore of a lake as the reflection of the young male was seen flying by.
And this female is the real reason he is here. She's in season, and for just 1 month will breed with the resident male.
Then the resident male dragon appeared and roars out aggressively.
His territory and his female are under threat, and he intends to deal with it.
The resident male then takes off into the air.
The young male dragon flew through the air as the resident male starts to catch up to him.
The resident is an experienced survivor, a dragon in his prime. And he's put down every challenger that's come before. And he will do it again.
The resident male roared as he chases after the young male as they flew by the female as a dogfight begins.
He wears the dark coloration dominant males adopt when in command of a territory. He no longer displays the red markings of a bachelor, he now displays with fire.
And his combat experience is immediately apparent.
The resident male soon got close enough to the young male, and then fires a stream of flame at the young dragon landing a direct hit on his back.
With his first shot, he inflicts serious damage on the dragon. The young dragon climbs for the clouds, desperate for cover and the cooling vapor.
But the aggressive tactics of the resident aren't without risk.
The very same hydrogen that keeps him airborne fuels his flame.
The resident male fires another blast at the young dragon.
The dragon's flight and fire apparatus is a binary system, both rely on the stored hydrogen in the flight bladders. If the resident burns too much of his hydrogen reserves, he'll be forced from the sky.
The aerial chase continues as they a mountain peak near the territorial border.
The young dragon's luck can't hold forever. He flees for the border of the dominant male's territory.
But the resident wasn't going to let the young male get away so easily, as he intends to finish him as he flew by the peak.
But the resident has misjudge his opponent. The young dragon isn't looking to escape, he's looking to strike.
The young dragon soon appeared again as he now has the advantage as the dogfight continues.
And he has a full payload of hydrogen left to burn.
Once the young male got close enough, he fires a burst of flame and lands a direct hit on the resident. And he descends into a glide near the female, and hits near a ledge.
The young dragon flew as he has won.
By using his weapons with consummate skill, he has triumphed.
The female then roars out.
The female prepares to accept the new dragon overlord.
The young dragon seems to revel in his victory. All his life he's fought the odds, and now at last he's come into his own.
The young male Prehistoric Dragon flew around in victory and twirls around and roars out as he flew.
But his triumph will be short-lived.
As a curtain is about to come crashing down on the Cretaceous Period.
Countless millennium has past since the age of the dinosaurs. When a massive meteorite, 6 miles across, smashed into the Earth in the Gulf of Mexico at Chicxulub in the Yucatan Peninsula with the force of 100 million Atomic bombs. The initial impact alone triggered wildfires, massive earthquakes and tsunamis. And soon, the planet was engulfed by a blanket of dust cloaking the world in semi-darkness.
Triggering Earth's 5th Mass Extinction. The KT Extinction.
Most dinosaurs managed to pull through during the first few weeks to several months after the impact. But with plants nearly impossible to find, plant-eaters were the first to die out. Predators managed to pull through a little while longer, but eventually starved as well. Over 70% of life died out, including the dinosaurs. The pterosaurs and giant marine reptiles were not far behind as well. Any animal on land over 50 pounds died out.
Along, with the Prehistoric Dragon.
But the sea, life has found a way.
The Prehistoric Dragon was actually not alone, it had a cousin.
A Marine Dragon.
Both dragons evolved from a common ancestor of a lizard-like creature but went separate ways. Marine Dragons, along with other large animals that survived the KT Extinction had one thing in common: they were aquatic animals. Sharks, stakes, rays, Coelacanths, turtles, and crocodiles.
And like them, Marine Dragons swam from extinction.
10 years after the impact, the dust begins to clear as Earth starts to recover. And by the time some Marine Dragons were beginning to head into rivers, the world was starting to be taken over by a group of animals that lived in the dinosaur's shadow since the beginning of their reign.
Mammals.
And mammals were taking over the world. They rivaled the dinosaurs in size and ferocity, and they even lay claimed to the oceans. Then, around 4 million years ago came Mankind's own origins. When a type of ape came down from the trees, and walked upright. The Marine Dragons that returned to land eventually revolved to life on land. Some became slender, low-slung to the ground becoming Forest Dragons of Central and Southeast Asia. Dragons remained apex predators throughout the Age of Mammals, but mammals have produced their challenger.
Man.
Humans soon learnt to wield the dragon's main weapon, fire. Soon they wielded it against them as they used fire to clear forests for fields, to mold metal into savage weapons. And soon, the rivalry between man and dragon grew to the stuff of myth and legend. For thousands of years, humans and dragons fought a relentless war. In the Viking Era, something happened. 1 day, a boy named Hiccup befriends a Night Fury dragon named Toothless and showed that they can be friends. For 6 years, Berk lived with dragons, but the constant raiding of dragon hunters grew as 1 day, a fierce dragon hunter named Grimmel the Grisly who has claimed to have killed every Night Fury attacked, and was after Toothless. The Vikings of Berk were forced to leave, they arrived to another island, and Toothless who developed a crush on a Light Fury he recently met. Hiccup built him a working tailfin for him to fly with her. And eventually he and Astrid discovered a Hidden World of dragons. But they were forced to leave as it was no place for humans. After a battle with the hunters, they won but came to the choice to let them go and they flew to the Hidden World.
But Hiccup was unaware that there were other dragons in the far distant mainland on the continents.
They have remained for centuries more to come. And by the 15th Century, dragon populations were finally driven to their knees with the last remaining Mountain Dragons surviving in the Carpathian Mountains. But eventually, the last ones were killed.
Dragons were lost from reality, to mythology.
Centuries more have pass, by 1993, when a man named John Alfred Hammond began something revolutionary. With the help of Dr. Henry Wu he built a park on an island called Isla Nublar, called Jurassic Park. Where geneticists have managed to bring dinosaurs back from extinction. But sadly, things didn't go well after a hurricane and a spy turned against Hammond shutting down the system. As Jurassic Park was abandoned. 4 years later in '97, something has survived as a family on a yacht cruise stumbled upon an island 87 miles from Nublar called Isla Sorna. A little girl wanders off and was confronted by a group of Compsognathus. After the incident, Hammond sends a team to document the creatures, but his nephew Peter Ludlow was with an InGen team as they plan to capture dinosaurs for a park of his own in San Diego. Ian's team soon released the dinosaurs, but things took a nasty turn when the baby Tyrannosaurus they brought back that was injured, and it's parents arrived. Their trailers and the hunter's camp were destroyed as they no way to call for help. But they made it to an old operations building and called for help. They returned but Peter's team has captured the father Tyrannosaurus and it's infant. At San Diego, the boat that was carrying the male crashed through the dock as the crew was attacked by something. And the T. Rex was accidentally released and caused a rampage in San Diego. Ian and Sarah managed to lure him back to the ship with the baby, and Peter trying to recapture the baby was killed.
Another 4 years have pass in 2001, as Ben and Eric on a sightseeing boat trip went to Sorna see some dinosaurs. But the crew on the boat were attacked by something, and they were forced to free the rope as the boat was heading turns some rocks. 8 weeks later, Eric's divorced parents convinced Alan Grant and Billy to join them though left a few things out. When making an emergency take-off, Cooper was snatched by a Spinosaurus as the plane took damage when brushing it and crashed in the trees. After explaining everything, they begin to look for the coast as they came across the parachute Ben had, but found what was left him when he skeleton dropped in. They arrived at an old InGen compound where they were chased by a Velociraptor, and Udesky was killed. Alan who got separated got cornered by the raptor pack was then saved by Eric. The next day, they soon found each other but were chased by the Spinosaurus who has swallowed the phone Paul had. They were chased into a building, but it was then that Alan realized something. He opened Billy's bag after him it wasn't safe. And found 2 raptor eggs he stolen which was why the pack was after them. They headed down to an old birdcage that was containing Pteranodons and were chased out, by lost Billy. That night they soon recovered the phone in a pile of dinosaur manure, and later as a storm passes over they were attacked by the Spinosaurus again but Paul distracts him as he was on a crane and Alan fires a flare gun as the water caught fire from the leaking gas fuel. The next morning, they were near the ocean when the raptors appeared. But after a tense moment, they managed to return the eggs to them as they left. And they got to the coast as the military arrived, and found that Billy has survived the Pteranodons.
14 years later in 2015, Hammond's dream finally became a reality at last with Jurassic World. But sadly came to an end with the park's first genetically modified hybrid, the Indominus Rex. Smarter than any dinosaur they've seen, she tricked them of thinking she escaped and soon broke out of her enclosure. In a single day, she brought Jurassic World to it's knees before she was finally killed herself by the park's Mosasaurus.
3 years later in 2018, the island's dormant volcano reawakens and erupts, as Owen and Claire and a team went to save the remaining dinosaurs. But a double-cross occurred as they managed to make it out off the island in time. But soon found that the dinosaurs were being sold at an auction at Lockwood's Estate. And there they met the direct descendant of the Indominus, the Indoraptor. He soon broke out and chased Owen, Claire and Maisie who was a recreated version of Lockwood's daughter. The Indoraptor was soon killed after fighting Owen's last surviving Velociraptor, Blue. They soon met with Zia and Franklin as the remaining dinosaurs were trapped in their cages as Hydrogen Cyanide gas spews. Unable to free them, Claire sadly watched as the trapped dinosaurs were dying. But it was then that Maisie opens the doors freeing them as she had to, and they they're alive like her. Outside, Mills with the Indominus sample was caught in a stampede of dinosaurs but survived, he was to grab the sample. But was then eaten by the Tyrannosaurus of the original Jurassic Park. And now, dinosaurs roam free on North America.
Now nearly 4 years have pass since that incident, and 1,300 years since Hiccup's time, at night a Bell Jetranger helicopter flew through the air with a searchlight flies over a forest with lights of a nearby city shines.
65 MILLION YEARS LATER
In the forest, the Jurassic World's female veteran Tyrannosaurus Rex now over 30 years of age treads through the forest. And in the air above her, the crew members were soon able to spot her.
"I got eyes on the animal." The pilot reported.
In the forest below, the T. Rex breathes heavily as she flees as she hurries through the forest.
Nearby, a number of people gathered at a drive-in movie theater as it was just minutes from a movie starting as it was showing that famous video of movie snacks singing.
Let's all go to the lobby
Let's all go to the lobby
Let's all go to the lobby
Among the parked cars and trucks, a boy around 10 or 11 carries a bucket of popcorn when suddenly some people rushed by fleeing for their lives in terror. Then branches were heard crashing and breaking as he turns and a shadow looms as he saw something that he suddenly prefers seeing the skeletons, bones and pictures in museums and books.
"Run! Run!" A man yelled.
The T. Rex made her way through the drive-in as the searchlight of the helicopter shines over her. And the T. Rex growled as she moves through the parked cars as some jostled by her feet and walks by 2 girls hiding under a car screaming.
A trio of friends were enjoying some snacks and drinks as they were unaware of the Tyrannosaurus just several yards behind them as she lightly snapped her jaws at the fleeing crowd. And in 1 truck, a couple were busy in a heated kissing session to even noticed the T. Rex walking by them.
The T. Rex snapped her jaws at the fleeing crowd as lucky for them she wasn't showing hunting behavior. As she looks around growling, and then lets out a deep thunderous roar as the screen gone on the frizz and a guy that was fleeing was struck by a passing car.
In the projector room, a trio heard the roar as the camera started starts to fail.
Outside, the T. Rex's right leg flips over a mini van on it's back with 2 people trapped inside as she walks by and nudges it.
Standing in front of the screen, the T. Rex then lets out a loud roar as people flee and one in a car records her with his phone. The searchlight of the helicopter shines over as the Tyrannosaurus turns to the Bell Jetranger hovering just beyond her.
In the helicopter, a man aims a rifle at her.
"Keep it steady!" He said.
He then fires a tranquilizer dart as the T. Rex's head moved as the dart missed, and pierce through the windshield of an older couple's car trying to leave. Luckily they were okay, and then their car was nudged aside by the Tyrannosaur's left foot as she walks off as her tail brushes the car roof.
The T. Rex then heads off as her massive feet left footprints in the ground as her right foot lands in the gravel and lifts up leaving a footprint.
In the air, the ranger tries to spot the dinosaur but the tree were too dense to see her as searchlight wanders around.
"Damn I don't see it." A ranger said. "You see it?"
"Settle down kid." The pilot said. "She can't run forever."
The cars in the drive-in begin to leave as 2 brushed against each other as the Bell Jetranger flies off.
Author's Note:
Finally! Today's the day, Jurassic World: Dominion is out!
I felt like for this story starting with the 5 minute prologue of Dominion, combined with the Cretaceous scene of 2004 documentary, Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real.
