A/N: So...I've decided to start a little side project (despite being busy as hell already) of a little (definitely not little) collection of short stories, scenes and one shots, all being Melizabeth themed. That means both AU, canonical and little extra headcanons are fit to burst in this collection. Pretty fitting to celebrate being on Fanfic for around 3 years now.
This small scene is titled 'Bubble'. It's about a small little interaction between the two after Meliodas gets into yet another fight because of his unbridled emotions around the subject of Elizabeth. Sorry it's a little short this time, but the next one will be longer :)
Anyway I'll let you guys read and be the the judges of my work. Also feel free to give prompts cause 3,000 stories is a lot of work :I
Till next time,
D.L.D
Bubble
"Oh Meliodas..."
Her sigh as she pressed the cold compress to his face was enough to make him feel terrible, let alone the tremble of her soft lips. Her sigh was so melancholic, so disappointed, that Meliodas couldn't help but feel as if he'd let her down. He couldn't help but feel as if he'd punched her instead of his intended target. As if he'd harmed Elizabeth himself.
Once again Meliodas had gotten into a little after school scrap. As usual it had turned nasty quickly, the blonde earning a bloody nose in return for the hits he had landed on his opponent. As a result, Elizabeth had ran to attend to him, the female not taking any of his feeble excuses. That's why he was now in the infirmity with her, sitting there remorsefully as she attended to the remainder of his injuries. Gentle hands easily tended to him, the blonde instinctively leaning into her kind touch.
"I'm sorry, Ellie."
He looked at her, green eyes peering out of his wild, blonde fringe. From the look in those eyes alone you could tell that he really was sorry. Really. But Meliodas couldn't just stand by as those people said such things, especially about Elizabeth. His fists clench at the very thought of those comments, jaw tensing as the blonde recalled the lead up to the fight. That group stepped out of line when they spoke about Elizabeth like that. No-one should say the things they said about her.
Not as long as Meliodas was around.
The blonde peered up at the female now, her hands lightly running through his wild hair. His eyes caught her gaze, and they truly spoke of remorse, the owner pulling a slight frown as she only graced him with another humble sigh.
"I don't want an apology," Elizabeth shook her head slightly, tossing the cold compress into the bin. "I want you to be more careful, Meliodas. You can't let that temper of yours get the better of you."
He gave a nod at her words, noting that he would attempt to get a better grab on that. His wrath. He always promised to try and get better, and he was. Before now much worse would've happened. After all, it wasn't just Elizabeth who picked up on it. A bunch of people in the school feared Meliodas because of his terrible wrath, the times when it was revealed almost becoming legendary. No-one was safe when it came to that, only Elizabeth being let into his personal bubble. She was the only one who could calm him. Soothe him.
However sometimes Meliodas' wrath was something that the blonde had no control over whatsoever. Sometimes it flared for the most stupid of reasons; Other times he agreed when it would flare. But one thing Meliodas would admit is that sometimes his wrath controlled him. Sometimes his wrath was the thing making the decisions.
Just like today.
"Ok I'll try again," He released a sigh, easily slipping on his bag and giving Elizabeth a smile. It was sloping and mischievous, a glint in his emerald eyes as he glanced at her. "But since we're out late do you wanna get something to eat?"
"Oh...I couldn't," Elizabeth blinked in response to that, shaking her head.
It was dark out now meaning her sisters would worry about her if she was out late. Plus the silver-haired teen had a lot of homework to do, high school teachers loving to dish out a bunch of unnecessary tasks and projects. Oh yes, that was their number one thing to do. However despite all this a small smile was on Elizabeth's features, the innocent teen knowing that she was going to get roped along anyway. Meliodas always had a way of persuading her. A way of making her logic go numb.
"Come on my treat," Meliodas probed, poking her as he maintained a serious expression. "You can even choose."
"Fine," Elizabeth agreed, a playful pout sat upon her lips. She then folded her arms across her chest, smiling smugly. "But I might make you regret saying that."
A crooked grin grew on the blonde's face at that, his green eyes sparkling with mirth.
"I have a feeling you will."
Elizabeth's light laughter follows at that, the sound like music to his ears. It's light and tinkling, like a whisper in the breeze. Silver hair then swayed, the owner wearing a smile as she regarded the blonde beside her. The mischievous and oddly charming blonde she loved so much.
"Yep you have a lot of making up to do," She placed a kiss on his cheek, lightly tapping him on the nose. "But you've done pretty well so far."
It came out as a whisper, a message with a secret meaning that only they knew, but Meliodas understood it wholeheartedly. He knew it from the smile on her lips and the way she tried to withhold breaking out into a full face of tomato red blush.
"Then I'll keep earning those brownie points."
A laugh bubbled between the pair, Elizabeth flushed red and Meliodas still wearing a grin that certainly wasn't suitable for school. An arm was wrapped around her waist for emphasis, the spluttering Elizabeth easily downplaying his advances - for now.
"You're an odd one Meliodas."
"And you're a pretty one Ellie."
A pair of smiles and mental laughs were shared at that, the pair deciding that if they were gonna get something to eat they'd better leave before the school locks up for the night. So as the winter snow began to fall, the two teens set off in their own little bubble, unaware to the rest of the world as they continued their cheerful banter.
