Intertwined is based on the lore found in Breath of the Wild, with none from age of calamity. It was mostly written before the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom, so there won't be much from them.
It is set before the the great calamity came and destroyed the world, expertly documenting a possible course of events. Watch as we meet the characters and grow to understand them that much better.

"Open your eyes.."
The voice was distant.
"Wake up, Link.."
Link opened his eyes, yawning softly as he allowed his bright, blue eyes to adjust to the light flooding into the house. He stretched his arms out before looking to his right and into the eyes of his father. "You promised you'd wake up on time this morning, kiddo, we have a lot of training to do if you wish to become a Knight." The large, muscular Hylian laughed softly, his fingers fidgeted with his blonde moustache, his hair was starting to show its age for it was turning slightly grey. His eyes were as blue as Link's.
"Sorry father.. I didn't hear you calling earlier." The young Link responded, his voice sleepy as he sat up in the warm bed. He slowly slipped out from red covers, his sister was asleep still. Link figured it was still quite early in the morning. "We'll practice down by the shore for an hour or two and then we'll be back for breakfast." Link nodded at his father's words, he couldn't wait for his first training session, he'd seen the Knights in action for the first time roughly two years ago, he was so fascinated by their swordsmanship, their ability to wield a sword with such elegance and ease intrigued Link greatly.
He had been at the castle with his father, the place intimidated him, it towered over the large fields which surrounded it, Link was scared of its magnitude. He watched his father train with the other knights, originally he hadn't wished to go, but he was thoroughly glad that he did, and now he knew that that was what he wanted to be.
The journey to the shore took half an hour, Link's father handed his son a wooden sword, it was quite lightweight, Link held it tightly in his right hand, staring at the blade with a fierce admiration. He grinned brightly before his father stood next do Link, holding a similar blade. "We'll start off simple, one of the key basics you need to remember is balance, you need to have good posture and you can't make your swings too ambitious or you'll topple over, so repeat after me." His father proceeded to take a battle stance, one foot behind, one out in front, his body bent forwards slightly and he bent his elbows inwards slightly. Link slowly copied his father's position, holding his sword out in front.
For the next two and a half hours they went over other basics before returning to their house.

One year later..
--
The Queen had been dead for a little over two months now, the Kingdom was still mourning the loss of such a headstrong leader, Link had just turned 8 after it happened, his father was saddened by the news Link recalled, he figured that made sense considering his father was a knight of the royal guard.
Today they were travelling to Zora's domain, Link had suffered a pretty bad cut during one of his own 'training sessions'. He had been fighting a Lizalfo when the creature connected a blow, Link's father made it just in time to slay the enemy before scolding Link for being so reckless.
Link held onto the saddle of the horse they were riding, his arm was bandaged up with a small stain of blood soaking the fabric, it didn't hurt all that bad, but his father was concerned.
It was on that day that Link had the fortune to meet the Zora Princess, Mipha. Based on her appearance she was a young adult, she seemed rather sweet and she made Link feel a warmth that he hadn't felt since his mother's passing three long years ago. "You're quite the brave little one, aren't you?" Mipha had said as she healed his wound. Link recalled grinning brightly at that, glad that someone acknowledged his courage.
As time passed, Link and Mipha crossed paths frequently during Link's childhood and adolescence, in the beginning it was only for his wounds to be healed, but overtime a strong friendship formed between them, and Link began staying at the Domain for weeks at a time, him and Mipha had quite a lot of fun together, though that fun had began to die down in recent years.
At the age of 16, Link was no longer the bubbly child he had once been. He was a skilled swordsman, he was expected to become a knight at the age of 21 and be accepted into the royal guard. However, Link no longer looked forward to that. He felt so pressured now, everyone from Hateno expected so much of him, including his father.
Mipha had noticed the change in Link better than anyone, he was more silent, less expressive. "Link, whatever is the matter with you?" Her voice was tender, yet the concern in her voice could not be hidden. "I'm perfectly fine, trust me." He forced a smile, though it soon died away and the silence settled in once again. Link desperately wished to open up to Mipha, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, she too thought so highly of him and he didn't want to appear weak in front of her, to let her down.
Everything changed a few months after that. There was a ceremony taking place in the Korok Forest which all members of the royal guard were asked to attend. The King was searching for someone eligible to wield the sword that seals the darkness, Link hadn't been told why when he asked his father, so he asked to come, to which his father agreed.
Link watched as soldier after soldier, each member of the royal guard tried and failed to pull the sword. The King was watching, concern etched all over his face. His daughter was standing next to him, she looked so determined, headstrong like her mother had been, Link admired that.
Link witnessed his father try and fail to pull the sword, and soon the line was almost at its end. Link's father approached him, sweat dripping from his forehead. "You should give it a go.. Perhaps you're worthy of claiming it.." His father was panting heavily, Link didn't want to be in such a state, but he figured if he failed to pull the sword then people would lower their expectations of him, so with reluctance he stepped up onto the pedestal.
"And who might you be?" The King's voice rang out over the forest, Link looked up nervously. "Link of Hateno your highness, I am the son of Sir William." Link explained, his voice confident. The King gave a nod at that, a respectful look washed over his face, clearly he was proud of Link's father. "Go ahead boy."
Link stepped up to the sword, feeling his heart beating in his chest. He licked his dry lips before placing his hands on the handle, he bent his knees and screwed his eyes shut before slowly pulling on the blade.
To his surprise the blade came loose and freely slipped out of the pedestal in Link's hands, his eyes bolted open as he looked down at the shiny, decorated sword. He heard a royal fanfare play before the forest erupted with cheers and claps.
Link closed his eyes again, wishing that he never came.
What had he gotten himself into?
