It was a nice dawn in the small suburbs. There was a girl sleeping in her bed peacefully. She was hugging a little blue penguin plushie, and a little gray kitty with white paws and a pink nose was laying on the foot of her bed. The girl herself was sleeping in the exact same way that her cat was. Some birds chirped, awakening her. However, she seemed unbothered, and merely shut off her alarm clock, which was truly making the noise. She yawned in song as she awakened.
She tossed the blanket off of herself, revealing her pink nightgown with a black smiley face on it, along with accidentally dropping the stuffed penguin on the floor. "Oh, sorry, Edgar!" She quickly apologized and picked it up to dust it off. She then gently leapt off her bed and went to her dressing cabinet, putting a pink bow in her hair. "Oh, it's such a wonderful day, Mittens!" She declared as she acquired her day clothes.
"Meow?" was the cat's only possible reply. It crawled off the bed and onto the floor, stretching near the girl's feet.
She only giggled before she removed her nightwear, did a ballerina spin, and did a ballet leap, leaving her undergarments behind as she got dressed off-screen, letting them drift to the floor. Over a fresh set of underwear, she was now wearing a pink and white skirt and blouse, along with some pink loafers on her feet and pink gloves on her hands. "My apologies for the indecency. I may just be a titch too excited. But today's the day I'm going to go get hired!" The princess look-a-like declared.
She looked at a small paper and smiled, humming slightly as she went to her kitchen. "I've been meaning to get into the food industry. Selling sweets seems like a wonderful job!" She gathered some breakfast, and then gently thrusted her door open. "Here I go! Wish me luck, Mittens." She said, kissing her cat's nose, before daintily going down to her bike.
She went to the bike racks to get her average sized purple bike with white wheels, with a little light on the front. "Oh, hey, Ella!" A large boy with messy blonde hair, lime and olive green shorts, and a plain white tee with a maple leaf on it called. "Good morning, Owen! Did you have a good breakfast?" Ella replied as she strapped on her little helmet. "Oh yeah, it was great! Pancakes are just amazing, aren't they? They're like little rays of sunshine!" He cheered. "I agree, they are delightful." She was about to set off now. "Oh, also, good luck on your job, Ella." He said to the girl. "Thank you, Owen!" Ella said in her bubbly way. She was now cycling on her way to work. "Oh I am ready, I am very very ready, I will have fun that I can promise on my pinky~" She sang as she went.
On her way there, she saw her girlfriend's house, and she couldn't help but break the news to her. She went over and knocked on the door, where a girl in a red cheerleader outfit opened it up. She had blonde hair, along with red lipstick and a mole on her face. Ella, however, knew this was the wrong twin. "Hello there, Amy! I'm here for-" She started before getting cut off.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll go get her." Amy interrupted in annoyance, clearly just wanting to get the princess out of her hair. Soon enough, another girl who wore the exact same uniform was at the door. However, compared to her sister's mean and grouchy demeanor, this girl seemed a lot more shy and kind. Her face was also completely smooth, with no beauty mark in sight.
"Hello there, Samantha!" Ella greeted, giving Sammy a hug, who quickly returned it. "I can't stay for too long, but I'm going to go apply for a job today!" She saw the blonde's face make a kind smile. "Wow, Ella, that's great! I hope you get the job." and the two exchanged goodbyes.
We cut to a smoothie shop with a bright neon sign that was being shut off by a scrawny guy with long brown hair and a green vest over a light blue shirt. "Another day, another eight twenty-five. ($8.25.)" The guy snarked as he shuffled down a ladder and landed near the back of the building. Upon entering the front, he saw the now hiring poster. "I wonder what poor sucker will get the job." He thought out loud, before hearing a bicycle bell. "Oh great, my musical neighbor, that will be nice to see." Ella parked her bike outside the establishment, birds fluttering near her. "Thank you my feathered friends, but if it's not a bother could you please wait for me outside? I'm not sure if it would be nice to have you in there, since you'd be uninvited." The birds all understood and went to some nearby shrubbery to wait for Ella. "Good morning, Noah! I hope we can be the best of co-workers." She smiled as he opened the door for her. "Gee, I sure hope so." He said plainly as they both entered the restaurant.
"Ey there, Noah, cutting it a bit close, don't you think? You know where to clock in." Said a man who looked to be in his mid 30's, stubble all over his face. "Greetings Mr. McLean." Chirped the songbird. "May I submit this application for the job to you?" Chris looked up at Ella. "Chris is fine, and sure, if you can do one favor to me, I'll secure the job for ya." Ella looked confused for a moment, before Chris handed her a book, he flipped through till he stopped on one item. "Make this for me. If it tastes good, you're in." He slid it over to the pink girl, then left to retreat to his quarters.
Ella carefully examined the selected item from the menu, a fruity smoothie that used lemon and cantaloupe as the ingredients. "This seems like a good treat." Ella thought to herself, before a boy that looked similar to Noah walked past. "Yeah, about that, I heard from the grapevine that the dish was usually pretty sour." He coughed into his hand. "That's why we usually keep it off the main menu." Ella took this into account before making a face of confidence. "Well if making this taste good will help get me a place here, I will do my best." And Ella dashed into the kitchen to make the smoothie.
"Lots of treats sweet and sour, making me hope I get to work by the hour~!" She rhymed as she looked through the ingredients. "Okay, let's begin then!" She started reading through the recipe guide to find the recipe she was looking for. "Sour things may not be for everyone, but there's nothing wrong with making things a little sweeter!"
Taking peeks between the manual and the blender before her, Ella added about an eighth of a lemon and half of a cantaloupe slice. She then went to the freezer for a glass of milk to add.
As Ella was pouring the milk, she looked at the label. She realized she was accidentally putting creamer instead. "Oh goodness me!" Ella mourned.
She looked at the drink and compared it to how it looked on the menu. Compared to a pretty pale orange color, this was a murky light brown. It didn't look gross, per se, but it definitely didn't look appetizing.
"What's the hold up in there?!" Chris called from outside.
"Ah, j-just a minute!" The songbird requested as she tried to think about how to fix this mess. She decided to add a few slices of banana and a tiny drop of lime to salvage the drink. She looked down to the glass and then at the door. Chris was already getting impatient, so she had to finish it soon. The princess blended the drink and walked out.
Ella made sure to be careful but swift when taking out the drink. She didn't want to be clumsy on day one. She had wanted to make the drink look prettier than it was, but she served it as it was. It was possibly her first day, after all, so she should be professional. Especially after she'd already messed up…
"Bout time you showed up." Chris reprimanded impatiently as he set down the paper he was reading. "Oh, I do hope you like this! I really want to have this job." Ella pleaded, passing him the blend.
"Yeah, well, let's hope you made this right then." Chris tested before taking a drink. As he sipped the drink, his eyes glimmered and a tear streamed down his cheek. "Do you not like it?" Ella asked. "You're hired!" Chris yelled, a gleaming smile printed on his face. "Now if you don't mind, I gotta check the ratings on some smoothies." As he retreated to his office. Ella simply looked at her smoothie and grinned. She finally had her own job. She was happy for herself.
"I sure hope they add that wonderful drink to the main menu!" She mused to herself.
The princess left the building when it turned twilight out and prepared her bike. "Goodbye, Noah. I hope we'll be great coworkers!" She called out. The boy simply muttered something as he trudged home. Ella continued to cycle home, little birds resting on her body, before stopping by Sammy's house again. "Sammy, are you home?" Ella questioned after knocking. Just like before, a blonde came out, red uniform and all, but this was the twin Ella wanted to talk to this time.
"Oh, hi, Ella! How was work?" Sammy said, playing with her long hair. "Everything went just wonderfully! Thank you for asking." She then put her hand through the light yellow locks, her face deepening in pink coloration. Sammy likewise powered her face in a light red. The two giggled as they stared into each other's eyes before they shared a small kiss. The princess departed soon afterwards.
After all that, Ella finally got home, and went to her cupboards. "Oh Mittens! It's dinner time!~" And just like that her trusty pet crawled in, a small smile crept onto his face. Ella was clearly somehow in an even better mood than she normally was, humming to herself as always as she acquired a can of cat food from the cabinet and served it to Mittens. "Today was fun." Ella stated, before going to prepare for rest. She was sure she'd have many amazing times in the near future.
