"And you, their best beloved one, are now to me, flesh of my flesh; blood of my blood; kin of my kin; my bountiful wine-press for awhile; and shall later on be my companion and my helper." - Bram Stroker - Dracula
The reluctant Werewolf - 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo
"Shaggy I'm so happy you called." Dracula says, a smug arrogant smile curls on his lips. "And not one second sooner I might add," he crosses his arms across his chest. "Death isn't exactly a bed of roses now is it?
"You called him?" Vincent yells, affronted and angry. "You could have called an ambulance while we were waiting but you chose to call him of all people! Had I known you called him I would have strung up some garlic for the occasion."
"But you didn't." Dracula says, he gives a pleasant laugh. He shrugs it off, apparently unbothered.
"Why have you come?" Vincent says, and then he gives him the most murderous, hateful glare back at Shaggy. "Why did you bring him here? You offered him the warmest and hospitable of welcomes into my abode."
"Mr. Ghoul," Shaggy says, defensive, and then. "Daphne isn't getting any better, you see. She's dying and all I could think about - "was all he could say. There was a stillness of those first quiet, breathless moments that was shared between them until.
"...And you chose Dracula."
"He's the only one who understands what's going on!"
"I don't care how desperate you are send him away! Send him back to Transylvania!"
"I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"I made the Count an offer." Shaggy informs him. "An offer he can't turn down." he chokes out a dry, humorless chuckle. Although it really comes out like more of a sob.
Vincent makes a point of rolling his eyes. "rather cliché." he mutters beneath his breath.
"I admit after Shaggy explained what happened Daphne would have made a perfectly acceptable replacement," Dracula tells them. "It was when he told me he'd give up his mortality in exchange for an antidote I'd offered him my assistance." he smiles more so at Vincent who makes nothing but an angered expression.
"But it certainly won't stop me admonishing you." Vincent warns. His tone of voice is exasperated and furious. His attention is still trained on Shaggy. His gaze meets Shaggy's again and he notices, the young man's eyes flash guilt, sadness, and fatigue all at once, and then there's? Could it possibly be? Relief, perhaps?
A guilt ridden relief Shaggy can only hope to absolve himself is through the Prince of Darkness himself, Count Dracula?
"Mr. Van Ghoul I'm sor-" he started to say before Dracula teleports near him. He wraps an arm around Shaggy's shoulder drawing him near. And he was made mute once again.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Dracula says, happily. He's giving the young man's arm a friendly squeeze. "I'll lift the curse of the 13 demons that poisoned Daphne. No harm shall come to pass." he finds himself grinning again. He's more than smitten. From Vincent's perspective it was more like a sharp edged gentleness. As an unholy creature that sleeps beneath the soil it does not understand or remotely appreciate or even value human partnerships.
