NOTES

This fic was made because another Berserk and Fate crossover was deleted. By choice or by the mods, doesn't matter, it left a dark spot in my mind so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I liked most of the ideas there so you can expect to see a chunk of those in this story.

Takes place not too long after the ending of Unlimited Blade Works. As of typing this, Berserk is at Chapter 369, meaning the ending of Berserk will be completely original in this fic unless if it miraculously finishes before I do. I apologize for any lore inconsistencies that might come after this.

Requires a reasonable knowledge of both series.

Enjoy, and if you liked it, be sure to leave a review.

Oh, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The Reaper came that day;
'T was an angel visited the green earth,
And took the flowers away.

Present Day

Clock Tower

The hallways of the Clock Tower were crowded beyond relief. As per usual, the students were bickering with one and another, but none of them were as notable as the heads of the Tohsaka and Edelfelt families. Rin was marching as Luviagelita followed her.

"Come on, Tohsaka! Just one tiny part!"

"No."

"It's not my fault El-Melloi goes so fast! Come oooon!"

"Not my fault you can't keep up."

"We're friends, right? Why are you so cruel-"

Tohsaka finally stopped in her tracks, turning around with a serious expression. That serious expression broke down in the matter of seconds as she burst out into laughter.

"What's so funny, ya knucklehead?!"

"Me?! You?! Friends?! Bahaha!"

"Can you just give me your notes for a SINGLE second?! It's not a hard thing to do!"

"So you can tear it in half? No way. I know you, Luvia!"

"Why you spoiled little brat-!"

"Hey, hey, hey!"

Of course, it has to be up to Shirou Emiya of all the people to break up this fight.

Shirou Emiya's Perspective

"Tohsaka, Luvia, what's going on here?"

"Ahhh, Shero~! I always knew I could rely on you!" Luvia ran up to me, pulling me into a tight bear-hug as she rest her head on my chest. Guess she can't be helped.

"Watch your distance with him. Don't you get any closer."

"Shut up for a second, Tohsaka." She finally looked back up at me with her pearly eyes. "Sherou, Tohsaka here refuses to lend me her notes because I missed out on a section from El-Melloi's class. She's so mean, right?"

"Come on, Rin." I beckoned.

Rin pouted. "Fine, but if she tears my notes in half, then that's on you, Emiya."

"Don't worry about it-"

"And here I thought I told you to stop getting into fights, Edelfelt."

A voice called out from a crowd, not too far away to the left of us.

"Oh, great, as if I weren't dealing with enough today..."

Huh-?

It all happened so quickly. A young adult of above average height had grabbed Luvia by her right ear, dragging her away from me.

"Owwww! Let go-!"

"I already told you last month, no fighting in the halls. Not that it's my job, but you've still caused quite a lot of collateral damage with Tohsaka over here."

The man had fascinating features. He had appeared before us in a buttoned, white business suit, a black vest under it having also donned a dark tie along with a handkerchief of the same color in the left pocket of said suit. Long, white hair that was so wavy that you would think they were clouds if you had seen them separated from him; baby blue eyes that would be mistaken for pearls. I think Tohsaka could channel her jewel magecraft through those eyes. His face was a mix of both femininity and masculinity, a perfect androgynous look. Interestingly though, he looked rather slim. On the outside, it looked like Luvia could snap him like a twig, but he must have something built up under that suit if he can drag her around like that.

Beyond that, he was also carrying a large book, keeping it in his right hand.

...Is he an actual living person, or is he a Servant? No normal person could have this much beauty. He really looked like as if he were ripped straight out of a fairytale.

Tohsaka had become frozen out of shock, I had been frozen for a few moments too but I still had to act.

"Hey, let go of her!"

"I would like to ask of you to not raise your voice again when in my presence, boy."

Who does he think he is?!

Just as I was about to raise my hand to protect Luvia, her own voice stopped me.

"Stop, Shirou! Stop! Don't get yourself into trouble!"

"Are you serious?!"

"I already warned you last month. I don't like to repeat myself, but I'll see past this mistake. You will never argue with Tohsaka again, and if you do, I will see to dealing with you and the end of your education myself. Capiche?"

"Capiche! Caaaappiiiche! Ow!"

At last, he finally let go of her ear, causing her to stumble back over to Tohsaka.

"Who are you supposed to be again?" I question.

"Louis Cypher. Archmage. I prefer to be called Mr. Lux, though."

"Never heard of you." Tohsaka quickly pointed out.

Never heard of this guy either.

"Oh, don't bother with Mr. Lux over here..." Luvia said with a dry tone. "He comes out of his cave once in a million years to document all the Lords' actions."

"Correction, once a month. If you want to make fun of me, do it properly at least, or perhaps would you like for me to grab your ear again?"

"No thanks. I'll be fine."

"I thought so."

"Wait, then so what do you exactly do that warrants your position? Arch-something usually means the chief of a rank."

"Like Luvia here said, I document all the Lords' actions at the end of every month. I also act and answer on the behalf of the Director whenever both he and the Vice Director aren't present."

"In a way, you can say that Louis here is the Metatron to the Director's God."

"Well said. You know, Edelfelt, if you put down your bickering with Tohsaka for a second, you could be a really solid student."

"Thank you, sir."

"By the way, are you Rin Tohsaka?"

"Yes, yes I am."

"Ah, I see. I'm pleased to meet you formally. They say lots of things about you, mostly positive. Your father would be proud."

"...Right."

Tohsaka clearly didn't like the subject of her father being brought up. I suppose she'll never get over that soft spot for him.

Cypher then turned to me.

"And you are...?"

"Why, that's our good friend, Sherou of course!"

"Sherou? Strange..."

"That's just a nickname." I corrected. "My name is Shirou Emiya. I'm glad to meet you."

"I'm glad to meet you as well, but I've never heard of you, unfortunately, but if you're hanging out with mages of Luvia and Tohsaka's qualities, then surely you must be an impressive magus as well. Watch out for those Sealing Designations once you get over with your education, hah."

...The way he said that so casually, sheesh. Sends shivers down my spine. The last thing I'd want is a Sealing Designation. No thank you.

"I'll look into you, Mr. Emiya, should I find the time that is."

"Say..." Luvia's face started to heat up, blushing. "Do you happen to have any free time on your hands this weekend?"

That's unusual. Never seen Luvia crush on anyone else.

"Sorry. I have plenty of work to do."

"Liiike?"

"Let's see my schedule, hm..." He put a finger to his chin. "Eat breakfast, work-out, eat lunch, check on the Clock Tower, drive back, clean my residence, eat dinner, sleep. Repeat."

"Wha- You have plenty of time!"

"I clean my apartment for about three hours or so. I don't."

"THREE HOURS?!"

"Better clean than sorry, right? Anywho, don't get into anymore trouble, Edelfelt. I have important work to attend to now."

He turned right back around, walking away as Luvia's hands formed into fists. She doesn't look very happy.

"You two look like you have quite the history together." I added.

"I wish. He just scolded me last month and did it again today, yet he speaks like he's been watching me for a million years. Real annoying, that guy. Erm, speaking of which, people barely know who he is, but the few people that have seen him and actually remember him think that he's some sort of immortal creature. Apparently hasn't aged a day. Weird stuff, I'm telling you."

"I bet he has some really good anti-aging cream." Tohsaka in there with the sarcasm again.

"Maybe, maybe. One thing's for sure though, there's no telling what I'll do to that pretty boy when I become his superior!"

"Good luck with that."

"I'm already halfway there. Bet I could beat his face in if both sides agreed to not use magecraft. There's a reason I'm named Forklift Lady."

"Those are very specific conditions, Edelfelt. You still got a long way to go." Of course, Rin had to send Luvia spiraling back to the earth, dragged down from her world of dreams. "By the way, beating up someone isn't a good way to show love, even for someone of your caliber."

"Pssh, I'll catch up to that guy in a few days time. Quit doubting my abilities already!"

"I think your perception of time's been distorted by something. By the time you'll get to any of the Lords' levels, he'll be an old guy in a wheelchair, so he's got nothing to worry about."

"TOHSAKA!"

"Heh."

Here we go again. Couldn't help but shake my head with a sigh. As I turned my head, I took notice of an object on the ground. Cypher had left something at the spot he was standing at.

That's weird. Didn't see him hold anything at all except for that book. Walking past both magi, I bend over and took a closer look at the object he had left.

It was some sort of charm. It had a dark blue color to it along with human facial features arrayed all over it randomly with no order in mind.

I picked it up.

Feels like smooth stone.

"Hey, guys, look at..." Just as I stood up, I saw that everyone around me was gone. "...This. Guys?"

The hell? Where'd everyone go? They couldn't have just disappeared in a single instant without making a single noise. Is this some kind of joke or prank? Can't quite understand...

"You, you who have been pre-ordained by the law of Causality..." Where is that voice coming from? Sounds like it's coming from everywhere at once, "We come to make an offer with you."

"Wha... s- show yourself!" I yell with all my might.

"Greetings, young one." A voice from my left. I quickly turn my attention to the voice, before letting out a gasp.

Three figures swathed in dark stood before me. Demons. One had his eyes and mouth sewn shut, his brain exposed. One had vine-like hair, basically absolutely naked, her wings providing partial coverage. The last was of short height, like some sort of stretched human face with his hands clasped together.

Normally, any magus would recognize these figures, but Shirou Emiya is not a properly trained mage.

Instinct kicked in. Fight or flight. I wouldn't have it any other way. I put my right hand out, "Trace, on—!"

Yet nothing comes to me.

Before I can properly process the situation, another short demon with glasses and clasped hands flew in front of me while upside down.

The hell is that?! The hell are these things as a whole?!

"Ho-ho!" He laughed devilishly.

"Wha-?!"

"Foolish boy, do not attempt to construct weapons in the realm of those who have control over you!"

I back away in response, but I was in no danger anyways. The short demon in front of me flew over to the rest of his comrades.

"The winner of the Fifth Holy Grail War, allow us to be introduced properly. We are the hand of the one true God in this world, its angels."

"What?!"
