In today's world we have better tools and technology than ever before. With the rise of industry and mass production, we, as a species and as a country, have accomplished more in the last fifty years, technologically speaking, than in the last two hundred. You can cross Natalia in seven hours, from Natalia to Terralain in twelve, and from Natalia to the Golden Coast within a week. You can watch Queen Marie's council meetings on a home television. Museums store artifacts and teach younglings. Documentaries and government websites make learning about the past easier then ever. In short, there is little to no excuse for why someone these days would not know their history.
At the date of this recording, we have had peace for nearly one hundred years. Two and a half hundred years ago, the Birds of Prey were finally driven back into there High Bleaks and the wolves back into there lands at the far north. Today, we have treaties with both species. Our most recent conflict was with Terralain and lasted a short two years, and we are on exceptionally good terms with them currently. There has never been a better time to be alive than now.
However, there has also never been a time when we need to remember our history more than now. While the internet and media are a great gift, they can also prove especially dangerous to the preservation of our traditions and history. It is all too easy to read and accept misinformation at truth. My aim is to educate and publicize the truth-the real version of history, however uncomfortable or difficult it may be at times. It is important that we, as a people and a species, not forget our own shortcomings in the light of our many victories.
