For as long as Hogwarts had been around it seemed, there had always been a unique bond between two of the school houses. A bond that seemed quite out of sorts and bizarre but one that was surprisingly sweet and enduring. Slytherin and Hufflepuff. Two completely opposite houses in terms of the qualities and characteristics of each of their members; but yet when the two got together it seemed as if the relationships and bonds that were formed were simply magic.

Slytherins, being the bold and strong willed types, often found themselves rather protective of the more shy and soft Hufflepuffs. The relationship between the two houses was something that always surprised the staff and other students every year, but one that seemed to naturally occur, no matter what year or decade it was.

When you first arrived at Hogwarts, it was no different. You had been sorted into Hufflepuff right away when you had arrived at Hogwarts and gone through the sorting ceremony. You supposed you would; your light personality and kind demeanor made you a model Hufflepuff, not to mention your loyalty, innocence and connection to nature. You always knew you'd be a Hufflepuff, mentally and physically.

Yes, even physically you were as innocent seeming as could be, as you were naturally very petite and had large, doll-like eyes that seemed to emanate a sense of fragility and emotion; even though in your heart you knew you weren't as fragile as everyone would most likely think.

Right away you had become friends with a Slytherin girl within your first weeks at Hogwarts. She was one year older than you, but she immediately found you enchanting and in need of her Slytherin protection and support. Amalie was her name; and she was your best friend in the whole world, almost like the sister you never had. She was very tall and had short brown hair and deep hazel eyes. She wasn't overly pretty, but to you, she was the best person in the world, no matter what she looked like. It was her immediate caring for you that made you love her instantly. Whenever anything would go wrong whether it be in classes or with other people, she was always by your side, defending you, her "little kitten" she would call you. You loved her, and although you appreciated the little nickname she had for you, it sometimes made you feel like her pet. You supposed too that is what she thought about you sometimes, although you always knew it was out of a place of love and never anything disrespectful.

That very first year too, Amalie had introduced you to all of her other Slytherin friends. She was amongst the 'popular' crowd of Slytherins and you felt so honored and sometimes surprised that she had chosen you to be her Hufflepuff best friend. Within that popular group of friends one person in particular…one boy…would have an impact on your life you would never fully be able to understand.

His name was Lucius Malfoy. Perhaps the most popular Slytherin of all. Like Amalie, you had met him when you were a first year and he was a second year. And just like with Amalie, the second you met him you both hit it off right away; like two puzzle pieces coming together. You had been intimated at first, you were naturally shy so of course you were, and Lucius exuded authority and a sense of royalty even at such a young age. His piercing grey eyes seeming to absorb everything so clearly around him, his shoulder length platinum blond hair which rested like spun-silk on his head, and the way he held himself very tall and proud; he was already rather tall for an adolescent too and so overall when Amalie had introduced you one day to him out in the courtyard, you had been initially scared.

You soon found out however that as soon as Lucius heard you were a Hufflepuff, and was one of Amalie's best friends, he immediately accepted you into the fold. His grey eyes sparkling with friendliness, and his mouth turning upwards at the corners in a charmingly sly smirk.

After that first meeting, when Amalie had grabbed you by the arm to head to class she had used your nickname as she said "Come on little kitten, time to go to class!"

As you walked away you heard Lucius chuckle under his breath and wave slightly to you both as he said "Bye Amalie…Goodbye to you too kitten." You got a warm feeling inside hearing him say that for the first time. Almost like a tiny little flame had began.

Over the years you and Amalie were inseparable. Some of your favorite memories were with her and the Slytherins; going to every Quidditch match decked out in your school spirit jerseys, or when you made it to your third year and being able to finally go with Amalie to Hogsmead to drink Butterbeer at the Hogshead. Perhaps your favorite memories though, were sneaking into the Slytherin common room on weekend nights, partying with your Slytherin friends as they practiced their crazy kinds of magic and spells and caused small chaos amongst themselves. Many weekends you would find yourself sleeping over in the Slytherin Girls dormitory, not even having been bothered to go back to your own back in Hufflepuff.

Then when the winter would become spring and almost into summer before school let out, you would head to the large grassy grounds of Hogwarts and enjoy the warming sun as you all laid on the grass together, or sometimes taking off your shoes and dipping your toes into the Great Lake and splashing each other. No one dared splash Lucius, but he would watch from afar and smile at the scene, enjoying the company of his friends and his surroundings. He was always a bit more mature and serious than everyone else, always seen with a book in his hands or writing in his journals. To you he was an old soul; kind of course, but serious and mysterious. However, Lucius was always there over the years, friendly as ever to you, and welcoming you into the folds of the Slytherins just as much as Amalie had. Anytime you were with the Slytherins you felt safe; like you were with family. You had the very best of times with the Slytherins and being friends with them made your early years of Hogwarts amazing. As you entered your sixth year however, things became even more amazing…but in a different way.

Like always your summer had been pleasant. Spending time with your family back near London. However, like always too, you missed Hogwarts desperately. Missed not only your fellow Hufflepuffs, but even more so, your Slytherin family. It seemed the popular and wealthy Slytherins were always off all summer on long holidays with their families, and that included Amalie. So you always looked forward to going back to school where you could see her every day, instead of waiting for her owls to come every once in a while during the summer.

This year going into Hogwarts felt different too. You finally were starting to feel like you were really one of the older students now at the school . You were a sixth year now, having just turned sixteen. You had grown quite a bit taller too, although still very petite compared to most of your friends. Your hair was long and luscious and cascaded down your back in silky waves. Your eyes were still large and doll-like, but with the makeup you wore now, were even more accentuated and beautiful. Your body too had blossomed rather nicely, and you had a body that you noticed young men…and sometimes older…were quite interested in. You were a beauty, although you were not snobbish in the slightest about it. You were still your same shy, Hufflepuff self after all.

After making it to Platform 9 3/4, you spotted Amalie in the crowd and ran to her as you practically jumped into her arms. She had gotten even taller over the summer too and was easily able to catch you in her arms as she giggled at your excitement! "My little kitten!" She said with so much happiness at seeing her best friend again.

"I missed you so much Amalie!" You said as you both made your way with your trunks onto the train.

As Amalie told you about her summer and sat you both down in your usual compartment, you couldn't help but wonder where a lot of your normal Slytherin friends were after a while of being on the train.

You then realized that a lot of them were now Prefects of Head Boys and Girls so a lot of them were in the Prefect section and although you were impatient to see your other Slytherin friends, you knew you'd see them later. Amalie had told you that Slytherin was planning on throwing a back to school party in their dormitory and you couldn't wait. Slytherin parties were the best, and you were so happy to be back at Hogwarts with everyone.

After a long yet delicious feast and sorting ceremony back at The Great Hall where you sat among your kind Hufflepuff friends, you went back to your dorm to briefly change into something more cute for the Slytherin party down in the dungeons. You had left your typical grey Hogwarts skirt on, although you hiked it up a bit and you styled it with a flirty low-cut top and a leather jacket over that and some Doc Marten boots. For the first time ever, you felt a bit sexy and you left to the Slytherin party with the confidence of a Slytherin student, which made you laugh to yourself; you were never one to usually be cocky about yourself at all.

Amalie met you with a smile outside the Slytherin entrance to the common room and hugged you once more. "You look amazing!" She exclaimed having seen your outfit and newfound confidence. "I swear little kitten, you've really blossomed over the summer break," she kindly said.

You smiled and turned a bit pink but appreciated the compliment. "Thanks Ama!"

"Common let's go," she said as she grabbed your hand and quietly muttered the password to the common room, making a door appear in the wall, where there previously was none. "Time to party!"

You followed her into the common room you had missed so much. The typical green glow of the room around you welcomed you back in. You had always found the common room so fascinating. All the way down in the dungeons, it was actually under the Great Lake, and the green glow not only came from the green flames of the wall sconces on the wall, but also from the murky waters in the depths of the lake. The Slytherins had decked it all out a bit, as they had their own floating candles just like in the Great Hall, but instead of white they were all black with green flames. All of the tables were piled high with various sweets and drinks in crystal and pewter goblets, some of them most likely containing strong alcohols. You recognized many of the students but some of them were newer faces, most likely the very young ones who had just gotten sorted into Slytherin. Many of the young ones' eyes shining bright with excitement and wonder at having been sorted into the 'cool' house.

You went to one of the tables and grabbed a crystal glass full of a fizzing green liquid. You took a sip and coughed a bit realizing it was indeed some type of green-apple tasting alcohol that was rather tart. Laughing to yourself you saw a few of your friends and began making conversation. Hugging each other, telling each other about your summers and your expectations and plans for your sixth year, some talking about this year being their final year. As your eyes scanned more of the crowd as the party continued on you felt your breath stop short and your eyes grow wide at the sight of someone so beautiful that you couldn't believe what your body and mind were feeling.

It was Lucius Malfoy. Although you had seen him hundreds of times during your years together at Hogwarts, when your eyes spotted him tonight it was as if you became paralyzed; as if all of the air got sucked out of the room in the best of ways. He had always been an attractive boy and teen but now…now he was a gorgeous grown man. It was as if over the summer he had turned into a near-god like figure, and you couldn't stop staring. You had always admired him and had a warm feeling around him, but now as you stared at him from across the room, it was as if your body and soul were on fire.

His hair had gotten longer and was now past his shoulders, shining the same magnificent platinum blonde as it always was. However his hair wasn't the only thing that grew; he had grown even taller, if that was possible, his limbs long and elegant. His shoulders and chest had become more broad, and you could see his chest and arm muscles straining behind the white button up shirt he wore with the Slytherin crest and Head Boy and Prefect pins. His eyes gazed out into the crowd, as silver as shooting stars, as they scanned the room as he sipped from a metal chalice filled with most likely the same tart alcohol you were enjoying. As he lowered the chalice away from his mouth, you saw that most of his youthful fullness in his cheeks had disappeared, and his cheekbones and jawline were so chiseled it would make any supermodel or God envious.

You didn't realize it, but as you took in all that was this new Lucius, you had been slowly making your way forward, walking slowly towards him, as if your body was magnetized. He wasn't surrounded by anyone; as usual he was on the outskirts, taking everything in, but still seeming to enjoy himself. You wondered how you had never felt this way before about Lucius. Perhaps it was because you had blossomed and grown much yourself during the summer break but whatever it was, it was a force you couldn't explain to yourself.

As Lucius took another sip from his chalice, his grey eyes finally landed on you, and you saw them slightly grow wider and his lips part ever so slightly as he saw you. His eyes had slowly made its way from your long shapely legs, to your tiny waist, your perfectly sized breasts and finally your flushed face. Was he feeling what you were feeling at this moment?

You finally made your way up to him, his beauty even more apparent up close and for the first time you were completely nervous around him, as if you hadn't known him for six years already.

"Wow…um hello there kitten," he said, his voice deeper than it had ever been, making your skin tingle; for once he had seemed a bit speechless in your presence.

"L-Lucius," you stuttered as you took a shy sip from your drink your eyes casting downwards. "It's…so good to see you," you said looking back up at him, into his stunning grey eyes.

"You too," he smirked slightly. "How was your summer? You look…different," he said his eyes briefly flicking down again, taking in your blossomed body and your flirty outfit, his cheeks growing a very subtle shade of pink you noticed.

"Is that bad?" You asked a bit self conscious.

"No…not at all..definitely not," he said a bit nervously still it seemed. You had never seen him like this. "You look stunning," he said, as his grey eyes seemed to penetrate your soul.

"Oh…" you blushed deeply, giggling a bit. "You do too," you admitted as you finally sat down next to him.

He chuckled a bit and took another sip of his drink. "My parents were mad at me for my growth spurt. They were annoyed they had to buy me completely new robes for my very last year at Hogwarts, but my old ones just didn't fit anymore."
You laughed as he told you this. You knew his parents could afford to buy the entire world, so it was funny they had complained about getting him new robes. As you both laughed some of the sudden tension and weight you had felt between you two slightly disappeared as you remembered how to interact with one another, but you still couldn't help but feel as if something had changed between you two, just by that first sight alone that night at the party of your sixth and his seventh year.

You and Lucius talked it seemed for hours. Slowly over time there were less and less people in the common room, as many had gone to bed, exhausted from their journey to Hogwarts and then the fun and wild party. Only a handful of the older Slytherins remained, and yourself.

I was as if your time talking with Lucius had gone by in an instant. You two had always had easy conversation but tonight, whether it was the instant connection on another level you felt, or the liquid confidence of the tart green alcohol you both drank, you didn't know. Talking to Lucius felt so easy and so right. You both talked of your summer, your families, your personal interests and goals for the year. Lucius of course was very studious, was the smartest in his entire year out of all of the houses; it was why he had made Head Boy and Prefect, a rare combination. He wanted to get a job at the Ministry after graduating, and you loved how serious and ambitious he was towards achieving his goals.

You had talked about your love for plants and flowers. It was often common for Hufflepuffs to love anything nature related, and you were no different. You had always excelled at Herbology, especially when it came to flowers and you knew that was a path you wanted to pursue. Despite it not being the most studious path such as Lucius' he still was incredibly engaged and intrigued with your passions. The Malfoy family admired all things beauty, he had told you, and flowers and plants definitely were something he was also interested in for their beauty alone. He seemed to be engrossed in your passion for it.

"You will have to come see our family gardens at the Malfoy Manor one of these days," he said as he leaned in a bit closer to you where you both had been sitting in one of the darker corners of the common room for the past many hours.

"Oh I would love that," you said breathily, watching his eyes spark a bit at your acceptance of his invitation.

He smirked happily and you couldn't help but smirk back, both of you staring at each other in wonder. You felt yourself move your head forward subconsciously towards his perfect face, when all of a sudden Amalie broke your trances.

"You guys!" She said, her tall frame sitting herself right in between you two, causing you to sigh out a bit in frustration, Lucius doing much the same, as the rest of his green drink spilled onto his pants when Amalie had nudged herself between you two. He furrowed his brow in annoyance. "Oh hello Amalie," he said sarcastically.

"You guys!" She said once more, clearly a bit drunk, as she put her arms around both of your shoulders. "You've been huddled back here all night, ignoring the rest of us peasants," she laughed loudly to herself. "I've barely seen either of you!"

Amalie clearly couldn't sense the tension that had built between the two of you and was acting completely oblivious. You couldn't help but be a bit annoyed at her, but she was your best friend and you supposed you had been slightly ignoring her all night.

"Oh sorry Amalie, we've just been catching up," you said, acting nonchalant.

"Ohh I've missed you both so m-much," she said slurring her words. She was more drunk than you realized.

Lucius sighed again, you heard from where you sat on the other side of where Amalie had wedged herself between you two.

"Missed you too!" You said patting her on the knee, treating her as if she was an infant.

She slightly began slumping herself forward, ready to pass out it seemed.

"Oh!" You exclaimed as you put your arm around her shoulder and pulled a bit to prop her back up. "Ok Ama, looks like it's time for your bedtime." You said as you stood up slowly, helping Amalie get to her feet, her head really beginning to slump forward.

Lucius stood up gracefully as well, a disappointed and slightly annoyed look on his face. However when you turned to him to say goodnight his face softened once again.

"I'm going to take her to bed," you said as you supported her taller frame against your more petite one, making you strain a bit.

"Do you need help," Lucius said, about to grab Amalie's hand to put over his own shoulder.

"Actually I think so," you laughed slightly as you felt Amalie's dead weight beginning to make you almost fall over.

Lucius smirked and grabbed the passed out young witch easily, as he put her arm over his shoulder and practically began dragging her to the girls' dormitories.

"Thanks," you almost whispered as he took the weight from you, and you began making your way towards the door to head back to your own Hufflepuff dorms.

As you made your way out you stopped briefly and turned around, only to find Lucius was staring at you as well, with a content small smile on his gorgeous face.

You flushed a bit and smiled softly back at him, tucking your hair nervously behind your ear. "Goodnight Lucius," you said sweetly.

"Goodnight kitten," he smiled even more broadly. "I'll see you soon?" He asked with a hopeful tone.

"Yes," you said breathily, already anticipating seeing him again. You wondered if it would be different without the haze of night and alcohol clouding your senses.

With one last sweet smile, Lucius turned around and began dragging Amalie to her dorm as you made your way out of the Slytherin common room and up the stairs towards the main part of the castle. You had a soft smile on your face the entire way back, your insides feeling warm and fuzzy. You had a feeling this would be your best year yet at Hogwarts.
