Tilda left the bed as silently as she could. She took a look at Dean who seemed to be sleeping peacefully. She had drugged him in order to make her escape. They had watched The Invisible Man a while back, and that opening scene made her realize this was probably her only way out as well. Drug the man and run for her life.
She had no idea how to go about it so she had reached out to an old high school friend of hers named Seth Rollins. Seth used to be a weird kid, and everyone knew he could get most drugs. Seth might be the drugdealer of the school, but to Tilda he had been a friend. It had been a weird type of friendship. No one knew they hung out together. It only ever happened when they were alone.
Around her, Seth had never been the drugdealer. He had been an interesting person that she felt she could be herself with. No one judged each other. There was no pressure to always perform and be the best at everything like her parents constantly put on her. Seth had been what she needed, and Tilda had been what he needed. They found peace in each other in a world of chaos.
They lost contact a couple of years after high school. Life took them in different directions and it was hard to keep up with each other. Now many years later, she had needed him again. She had found him on facebook and reached out for help. As always, he had come through. He provided her with some sleeping pills that she had mixed in Dean's drink earlier this night. He was now sound asleep while she tiptoed out of the bedroom.
She went through the house and stopped in the kitchen where she had hid everything she needed. The kitchen was her place according to Dean so he never checked most cabinets and drawers.
She opened the bottom drawer and pulled out the set of clothes she had hid there. She dressed as fast as she could. Then she opened the cabinet with pots and pans, removed the pots in the bottom as quietly as she could, and pulled out the backpack she had stored in there. There were two sets of clothes in it along with her personal papers, a train ticket, and a bottle of water for the ride. Everything else had to be left behind. She needed to start fresh. Luckily she wasn't alone. Seth had promised to help with what he could. He had already done so much. Being able to get out without Dean stopping her would have been enough for her.
She left the pots on the floor and walked to the front door. She took her time to remove the chain and unlock the door. She was scared any little sound would wake him up. It usually did. She finally got the door unlocked and opened it. She paused and listened. Her heart was beating fast. Just a few more seconds and she would be out. She only opened the door as much as she needed to, slipped out, and silently closed it again. And then she ran.
She ran down the street. Away from the house. Away from Dean. Away from her personal hell. Away from everything that had hurt so much. She kept running until she made it to the train station. Everything had been timed for her to catch this train. It arrived ten minutes later. She felt like she was going out of her mind when she finally stepped on board. There weren't many people on it. She found an empty seat in the back where she could sit alone. When the train finally started moving, she finally felt like she could relaxe a bit more. Not completely though. Not yet. She needed to get far away.
She got off the train hours later and started walking through town. Seth had offered her money to take a cab but she had refused. He had already given her so much with the sleeping pills, the train ticket, and a place to go. He had given her a way out. She couldn't possibly ask for more. Instead she spent an hour walking away from town and out to the vacation homes on the countryside.
She finally made it to the house, and there was a key waiting for her in a jar in the unlocked shed, just like Seth had promised. She let herself into the vacation home and found a note waiting for her on the kitchen counter.
"Hi, Tilda.
I filled the fridge and cabinet with some food so you don't have to worry about that. There's also some money left for you in the top drawer. Don't even think about not spending it. It's a gift. I refuse to take it back.
I'll see you soon.
Seth."
She opened the top drawer and saw he had left thousand dollars in 50 dollars bills.
"Seth, you shouldn't have," she said.
She couldn't help but smile though. This money would help her a lot. She could go out tomorrow and buy things she needed. Some more clothes, shampoo, a god damn toothbrush. Everyday items that she had to leave behind.
"Thank you, Seth," she said.
She would thank him in person once he stopped by to check up on her. She opened the fridge and let out a laugh when she saw it was filled with food and drinks. He hadn't held back. She opened the cabinet next to the fridge and found pasta, rice, flour, sugar, and canned food in there. It felt like he was expecting her to start living there for good. She knew she would most likely stay a long time until she figured out what to do.
She yawned and realized she needed some sleep. She had traveled half the night. For now she was safe. Dean had no idea Seth existed. Dean would not find out where she had gone to. And her phone was still back at Dean's house. There was no way he would find her.
She picked up her backpack again and walked through the vacation home. She quickly found the bedroom and smiled at the queen size bed. Seth had even put fresh bed sheets on the pillows and duvets. She dropped the backpack on the floor, undressed down to her panties, and crawled under one of the duvets.
