It has been FOREVER since I've written anything and I'm finally getting back into it! I do not own Vampire Academy or any of the wonderful characters. That honor goes to the incredibly talented Richelle Mead. This story takes place sometime after Last Sacrifice and ignores the majority of Bloodlines, aside from a few canon pairings! Rose and Lissa are also still bonded in this story. Enjoy!
Eighteenth Birthday Do-Over
DPOV
Prologue
"Your Majesty!" I called, practically sprinting up to Lissa. She's been queen for about three months and things have finally started to settle down.
"You know that I much prefer you still call me Lissa," she responded, rolling her pale green eyes at me.
"Old habits die hard," I answered, smiling slightly. "I need your help with a surprise for Roza. Which also means, I need you to block her out as much as you can for the next couple of days."
"What kind of surprise?" she grinned at me but I could already see her straining to put up mental walls against the bond.
"Well, as you know, I missed her eighteenth birthday while I was…" I trailed off, searching for the right words. "Away."
"Of course," she replied softly, eyes kind and understanding but holding a certain sadness that I often see in my Roza.
"And as much as I appreciate living in royal housing with you and Lord Ozera," I continued.
"Christian," she interjected, laughing a little at my formalities.
"Anyway, I had a small house commissioned for Rose and me towards the edge of Court. I have a sort of scavenger hunt type of deal set up for her but I'm going to need a little help from you and Eddie to distract her for the day so I can set up the inside," I finally finished my long-winded explanation.
"Just tell me what you need me to do," she beamed at me, her love for Rose shining clearly in her eyes. I lead her to our current room in royal housing to go over plans since I knew Rose would be busy going over paperwork with Hans for the next few hours. Containing my excitement has never been quite this difficult but thinking about Rose's reaction to all I have planned for her made me break out into a full smile. Missing the love of my life's eighteenth birthday was one of my biggest regrets and I was determined to fix it.
