Hey everyone, I hope you enjoy this story. I have always loved the idea of Musa and Layla being like sisters in their closeness, so I am adding that into this two-shot. I hope you enjoy it and any comments are welcome and appreciated.
"Musa, Musie over here!"
I immediately stopped walking, my entire body tensing. Sending the doorway that signified freedom a longing look I affixed a smile to my face. Turning around I forced myself to walk to Stella, knowing she'd make a scene if I didn't. I glanced around the room and saw Flora chatting with the Queen of Linphea and Tecna with king Cryos. They couldn't save me, nor could Riven since he was on that personally-requested mission. Facing the music, I carried on walking, noticed Stella's family was with Bloom's and Sky's, so I muttered a quick voice steadying spell under my breath, feeling some of the tension easing.
"Hey Stella, what's up?" I asked, coming to a stop in front of the large group.
"Stel and I realised that you, Flora and Tecna haven't spent too much time with our families outside the saving the world drama and thought we'd change that." Bloom answered, her smile beaming.
"Exactly! So Musie these are my parents, King Radius and Duchess Luna." Stella said, gesturing to her family. "My maternal Grandmother Duchess Amaris was meant to be here, but she had an emergency."
"Nice to meet you both." I said, dipping into a slight curtsey when I greeted her dad. "King Radius, your Majesty."
"Don't be so formal Musa, you are practically family at this point the number of times you have helped protect Solaria." Radius said, waving off my words.
"Exactly Musa, just lovely to see you without all the danger." Luna added, reaching out to take one of my hands in hers.
Her motherly smile makes an earthquake rippled through my heart, fracturing it further. I let her old them long enough before I politely withdrew them, ignoring Brandon and Sky's eyes as they drilled into me.
"Musa, you already know Mike and Vanessa," Bloom said, pointing out her adopted parents. I gave them a warm smile, knowing they must be feeling strange surrounded by royalty too. "And you've met my birth parents before but as Tecna would say, for completeness case this is Oritel and Miriam and my newly corporeal sister, Daphne."
The three gave me warm smiles, with Miriam even pulling me into a hug. I stiffed in the embrace, robotically hugging her back before releasing her. "Thank you again Musa for your help getting our daughters back and our kingdom, you are forever welcome on Domino." Oritel said formally, to which the females in his family smiled brightly too.
"Yes, if you ever need anything please let us know, you are family now." Miriam added, her loving energy stifling.
"I, err, thank you, your majesties." I said, rubbing the back of my neck in a nervous habit I'd picked up from Riven.
"Please, just call us Oritel and Miriam." Miriam said, and I nodded robotically, my face feeling like it was going to split it two.
"And last by certainly not least, Musa these are my parents King Erendor and Queen Samara." Sky said, thankfully taking my attention away from the overly affection queen.
"Musa, we have heard a lot about you." Erendor said, and I couldn't quite place his tone.
"Wonderful performance, you have a lot of talent." Samara added, her expression regal but her eyes soft.
"Thank you, your Majesties. Perks of being a Music Fairy I guess." I said, shifting my weight.
"You look like someone I used to know, don't you think, Samara?" Erendor asked, narrowing his eyes at me.
Samara squinted at me, her gaze scrutinising. "Yes, she does. Musa, whom are your parents?" She asked, and immediately my hackles raised.
Swallowing the lump in my throat I smiled at them, trying to remember the mechanics of breathing.
"Her mother's Matlin, the musician you both like and her father is Ho-Boe, the composer." Brandon answered for me, getting knowing nods from them.
Their expressions morphed into somber ones, their eyes bleeding pity. I squeezed my hands into fits behind my back and forced myself to breathe in time with the music. "Yea, they are my parents." I said, my voice still carrying the same steady tone despite my insides feeling like they were going to combust.
"Ah yes, you have her features, and her voice. Pity about her death, she was very talented." Samara said, sighing as if mum being unable to make more music was the greatest tragedy, not that I'd lost my mother.
I could feel Bloom and Stella's sympathy in their gazes, and it just made me clench tighter. I didn't risk looking at their families, not wanting to see the expression in their gazes. I'd had enough of that for a lifetime, and I didn't need it from anyone, especially not royals.
"Yes well, she will live on in her music." Was all I said, my throat feeling constricted. "If you'd all excuse me, I promised I'd see Layla."
Without another word nor thought about protocol, I turned on my heel and walked off, feeling like I was trudging through concrete. I heard tittering behind me but forced the sound away from my ears, not having the strength to deal with pity now. I made a beeline for the archway I had spied earlier and slipped out it, stiffly walking down the peer that was accessorised with silver rails. Finally able to breath, I leant again the rails, taking in deep lungsful of salt-soaked air. The sound of the waves lapping against the shore calmed my frayed emotions, making everything feel like it was putting back on kilter.
Letting out an emotion-steeped breath, I leant on the rail, taking in how the kiss of moonlight highlighted the wrinkles on the skin of the ocean. The ocean was ancient, holding countless memories and secrets, only the surface belaying its true age. Pain spiked through my heart as it dawned, I'd never see my mothers beautiful face wrinkled, it'd never get to make her a grandmother, have her hold my hand as I gave birth. There were so many things I was robbed off, the realisation turning my blood to molten energy.
"I miss you, so much mum." I whispered to the ocean, trusting it to hold me secret like it held countless others. "You would love it here, the music, the atmosphere, just all of it screams of you."
My vision blurred and I blinked, forbidding the tears from falling and marring my strong image. Today was a happy day, yes Layla had lost one member of her family, but she had the ones who mattered back. It was a time to smile and be happy, not stand on the balcony crying.
Hearing a noise behind me I summoned some of my power, feeling it sing inside my veins. "Not in the mood to meet more family, girls. I just need some me time." I called back, not in the right frame of mind to scan the sound like I would normally do.
The sound stopped and I relaxed, only to groan when the footsteps returned. "Seriously, just leave me-"
"I apologise for my intrusion, Musa, I need as you might say, some air."
I inwardly cursed myself for my rashness, the deep and smooth timbre of the man's voice familiar. "Of course, your Majesty. I shall leave you too it." I said, pushing off and dipping into a curtsey before I started to take my leave.
"No, please, keep an old man company. My daughter has told me much about you, but I am sad to say I have not taken time myself to get to know you. My sincerest apologies." I paused and turned to him, his golden green eyes swimming with sincerity.
Unlike meeting Bloom, Stella's, and Sky's parents formally, I felt comfortable with Teredor, like I could just be myself and relax. He had a calmness that washed over me like a soothing melody, and I surprised myself by wanting to stay. "It would be my honour, your Majesty." I said, giving him a small smile and joining him.
"Please, call me Teredor, your Majesty is too formal for friends." He turned and smiled gently, his eyes alight with wisdom I could only dream of obtaining.
"Of course. You must be very glad that your family is safe now, though I am sorry about your nephew, loosing family I shard regardless of circumstances." I said, feeling the wind brush through my hair.
He stayed silent, just a steady presence soothing me. He and his daughter were a lot alike, able to just be. "Yes, thank you for that, not many realise the hardship." He paused, the calmness rippling with uncertainty.
"We have a myth here on Andros about the dead. That when they die, their soul returns to the sea, moving through the gate to the Infinite Ocean to remain with us for always. They slip back through the gate to us when we need their strength, their soul entwined with the breath of the ocean, with its very push and pull, and immune to the sun." He trailed off, his eyes glassy. "My brother, Neptune and I lost our mother when we were young and were forced to grow up fast as a result."
I felt my breath hitch at that, my heart aching for this giant of a man. "The pain never truly leaves, but I find comfort knowing she is in the oceans, ready to give me strength when I need her."
He paused, before turning to look at me, his eyes clear of any pity, just pure understanding pouring out, grounding my frazzled emotions.
"What myths does Melody have about the deceased?"
I turned back to the ocean, hoping that despite not being its daughter, it would give me the strength to get through this. "On Melody, there is a constant song. It is the Song of Life and is created through the music of the Singing Whales and hum of our world." I paused, gathering my strength.
"We believe that when a person dies, the whales welcome their heart song, the melody that is each person true soul. They help the melody weave itself through the fabric of our world, adding to the richness of the melody. We believe that when a person perishes, their loved ones can pick out the melody in the air when they need them and can draw magic or comfort from it if they need to."
Silence descended upon us, only broken by the lapping of the waves and the hum of the party. I felt lighter, like talking about this had taken out the infection and angriness of my wound, allowing it to heal enough that I could function and suck out some of the heaviness from my limbs. I had tried to speak to my girls about this before, but none of them really understood how it felt to lose a mother, even though Bloom felt she did. She still grew up loved by a mother, regardless of blood ties.
"That is beautiful. Perhaps the Song of the Ocean and the Song of Melody can merge, giving out loved one's connections like we experience on earth."
I looked at him, unable to conceal my wonder. No one, no one at all had ever spoken like this with me, about my mother or the dead in general. It was a nice change of pace and actually soothed me like one of Flora's balms, rather than make me feel drained and worsening the wound.
"Thank you, Teredor." I said, knowing he'd understand.
He gave me a soft smile and a small nod, reaching a hand between us. I read the question in his eyes and nodded, feeling warmth in my chest when he reached over and placed a hand on my shoulder, silently feeding me strength. "You are family, always welcome here. Andros opens you with an open ocean and open heart, and you will always have a place here."
I felt the tears well and this time I did not try hide them, just stared at Teredor with unconcealed emotions. His own eyes welled up, fatherly affection radiating from them. "Thank you" I whispered, just able to get the words out through the lump in my throat.
"You are more than welcome, Daughter of Sound." He said, his voice reminding me of a smooth cello.
I heard whispering and looked over, feeling my smile widening when I saw Layla and her mother. They quickly looked away when I noticed them, and all traces of sadness evaporated from me, leaving only joy.
"She could tell you were upset and wanted to check on you. Her and my lovely queen, Niobe." Teredor said, drawing my attention back.
"How come you got the short straw then?" I joked, feeling more and more comfortable in his presence.
"If I was in your shoes, my friend's mother wouldn't comfort me, just make me miss mine more, and I thought that seeing as I had lost my own mother, I could understand more." He paused, indecision flashing in his eyes. "Was I wrong?"
I smiled and surprised us both by giving him a hug. His hands hovered adjacent to my shoulders before he hugged me back, the scent of the sea surrounding me. Letting out an embarrassed laugh I pulled back, rubbing the back of my neck. "I'm sorry about that Teredor-"
He waved me off, a genial smile on his face. "Never apologise for showing affection. Especially to family." His words were simple but effective, and washed away my embarrassment, leaving only happiness.
"You were right, I did need someone who understood. Bloom and Stella's parents were very sweet, but I just couldn't handle being around their mothers, not at the moment. And Sky's parents…" I trailed off, remembering I was speaking to a King.
"They are a bit cold, and hard to commune with." He supplied, and I nodded, grateful he understood.
"Yes, exactly. Queen Samara said that she misses my mother's music and how much of a shame it is for her to no longer play…"
"And all you could think about was how you'd give anything to see her again, I understand."
I gave him a thankful smile, sorting out my own thoughts. This family was so kind, so welcoming. I understood that what we see on the outside is different from the outside, so he likely was harsher of Layla growing up, but right now he was more like a teddy bear. My heart swelled like the Androsian's love of the sea, and images of spending time here with the Leomaris family and my dad flooded my mind before I could stop it.
"Mum!" I heard Layla's unmistakeable shout before all I saw was brown and purple as it swathed me.
On instinct I hugged the woman back, able to appreciate her motherly affection now that I had calmed. She pulled back; her emotions broadcasted with every sweep of her eyes.
"I couldn't stay back any longer, I wanted to properly meet the girl my daughter sees as a sister."
I felt myself flush and glanced at Layla, smirking when I saw her hang her head in her hand.
"I tried to stop her, M, I did." She groaned out, looking up finally with a small smile teasing her lips.
"It's absolutely okay, it is a pleasure to meet you, properly your-"
"If you call me your Majesty or your Highness Musa, I will be very upset." She warned, her voice stern.
"What I meant to say was, it is lovely to meet you, Niobe." I backtracked, getting a satisfied nod from the queen and sniggers from Layla.
"Much better. Now would you like to stay at the castle tonight? Layla is and it would be wonderful to get to know you more." She offered, and my gaze immediately went to Layla who smiled hopefully at me, her eyes lit.
"Are you sure you want me? Music Fairies aren't the quietest bunch and the party-"
"The party is winding down and while Music Fairies may not be the quietest, any sounds you tend to make are melodic, so there are no problems there." Niobe said, her expression stern.
Seeing that I didn't have much choice, I finally agreed, making all three royals smile happily. "Wonderful, I will arrange for a bed to be made up for you." Niobe said, before turning on her heel and bustling away.
"I shall take my leave as well, ladies. I must speak to King Jasper and Queen Nepheline of Heliodor, but I shall see you both later." He gave me a warm smile and gave Layla a kiss on the head before walking off, his robes flowing behind him.
We smiled and leaned back on the balcony, bearing witness to the beauty of the ocean. "Sorry about them, mum has been into the Coral wine a bit and dad is just overjoyed with how things turned out." She said, shooting me an apologetic glance.
I just looked at her, letting her know from my expression that I really, really did not mind. with a small smile she looked back at her kingdom, the tension she carried with her being swept up in the sea breeze.
"Heliodor is Diaspora's realm, right?" Layla asked, turning to me, and letting the wind scoop up her hair.
"I think so. I'm not too sure. I honestly haven't paid too much attention to her since the mess of first year." I replied, rolling my eyes as I remembered how Stella had bailed out Bloom, her family's status as Alfea's chief benefactor once again coming to the rescue.
"I'm glad I wasn't there for that, honestly from what you've told me I feel bad for her, after all, she was cheated on too." Layla said and I nodded, taking a moment to use my enhanced hearing to make sure none of the girls were nearby. "But she did go too far, with spelling the Crown Prince of Erakyleon and all that." She added.
I just shrugged, not really in the mood to talk about Diaspro and all that is balled up with her. Layla fell silent after that and reached her arm over to pull my head onto her shoulder. I sighed happily and looked out at the ocean, enjoying the natural melody.
"I wish he was here, M." She whispered; her voice saturated with emotion.
"I know, I wish he was here too. He would have been so proud of you today." I whispered back, recalling a sound absorbing spell and casting it in my mind. The transparent dome settling over us, allowing us to take freely.
"No, he wouldn't have. Its always someone else saving my realm, never me." She whispered, her hands turning into fists, leaching the colour from her skin.
I stayed silent, allowing her to speak. She knew my magic as well as I knew hers, so she would be able to feel the vibrations of the shield I cast, giving her a safe space. "First was Omega, with Tecna scarifying herself for my own world. Then Bloom came in and beat Tritannus, something that should have been my job. I mean, what kind of Princess gets captured and needs rescuing? Did I get caught in a time spell and transported to the olden days?"
Her voice was injected with increased anger, changing from sad to unfiltered fury. I could feel her shaking from the tidal wave of emotions and didn't speak as she threw her hands around as she tried to communicate how she felt. "Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to them both but this was supposed to be my redemption and instead I needed saving, just like my world." Her voice went so quiet I had to strain my ears to hear it, and immediately felt my own anger growing, my very being rejecting her words.
"Layla you are not pathetic, you are stronger than any fairy I have met." She scoffed but I ignored it, moving my head off her shoulder, and turning to her, my eyes blazing with the passion Melody was known for. "How many fairies have you known to survive Shadow haunt on their own? How many Fairies have sacrificed their eyesight so their aunt could live? We wouldn't have ever met the pixies with you and-
"Okay Musa, I get it. Thank you." She said, finally sounding like herself again. "I just, I don't know, I just feel weak."
Smothering my annoyance at her not seeing what I could I cleared my mind, resolving to listen. "How come?"
"I gave into vengeance when we lost," she let out a strangled sob, and I pulled her to my chest, my heart bleeding for her. "And I thought I might have expressed a Mermaid side by now, and I just feel… weak."
My mind was reeling, strands of plans coming together. She wouldn't believe anything I said, but there is someone who could believe, and I had the ability to bring them to her. Still, I couldn't leave her hurting, so I tried to get the fizzing in my heart under control and put on a suitably sombre expression.
"Layla." I said firmly, my voice brokering no room for argument. "If I had lost Riven, I would have done exactly what you did, and I'm sure most of the girls, especially Bloom would have too."
I could see she wanted to argue so I gave her a playful glare before shooting fizzing red sparks at her, making her soundless. Giving her a smug look and ignoring her annoyed one I carried on, determined to make her see sense. "We can do some research on your Mer side and see if there is anything we can do to trigger it, and we can train together to strengthen our magic. I feel weak too you know."
She shot me a disbelieving look and I chuckled humourlessly, turning my gaze back to the ocean. "Its true. Remember when we did that test to go to Shadow haunt and my magic totally backfired? Well, that showed me how weak I was. Plus, I can never save the day, I'm always reliant on someone else." I turned to look at herm making sure my next words seeped into her brain and stuck.
"So yes, it sucks, and I wish I were stronger. Plus, I bet you kind of wish we didn't earn Sirenix, so you were needed to give us the ability to breath underwater, right?"
She turned her head, and gave a small nod, her body tensed.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm pretty sure Flora felt like that with Sophix and Stella with Zoomix, as we didn't need her ring anymore." I tacked on, seeing the question on Layla's face. "Hell, I felt like it with Speedix, since my magic allows me a speed boost."
Layla looked at me, pointing at her mouth. "Oh right, sorry Lay." I said, quickly undoing the spell.
"I didn't think that the others might have felt this way too, I feel guilty you know. But with all these powerups, its kinds takes away our specialness. What's next, Cosmix? Or Techix?" She said snorting at the idea.
"Girl lets hope not." I replied, cringing at the idea. "Come on, I think the others will be leaving soon so we should probably say goodbye."
"Do we have too? Stella is too much sometimes." She groaned, and I bit back a laugh, fully agreeing.
"Come on your Highness, let's say goodbye." I teased, descending into a mock curtsey.
"Musa stop that!" She groaned, though I saw the smile fighting its way through.
I just winked and offered her my arm, smiling when she slipped her arm through. Without another word I led her back into the party, the sea almost seeming to give its agreeance as plans for tomorrow began to unfurl in my mind.
"Layla, Musa, we've been looking all over for you girls!" Bloom called, racing over to me with Stella and their families following behind.
"Sorry girls, we've been on the balcony, I wanted to show Musa some of my kingdom." Layla said, jutting in before anyone could argue.
Stella frowned, but thankfully stayed silent. She caught my gaze, but I quickly looked away, letting the faint melody of the sea wash through the party.
"Wonderful party, Princess Layla, thank you for the invitation." Oritel said, reaching a hand in between himself and Layla.
"Andros was pleased to host your reunion with Daphne, we are just pleased your family is whole again." She replied, her tone, posture and her very essence dripping royalty.
"We will have to invite your family to Domino sometime, once we get Daphne crowned and settled in." Miriam said, her arms embracing each of her daughters.
"That would be lovely, will give us time to resettle out oceans," she relied, smiling politely.
"Let Solaria know if you need more sunshine to remove some of the excess water, we would be happy to offer our services." Radius said, her tone polite.
"Thank you, I will endeavor to let my parents know, I'm, sure they will be very grateful."
Teredor and Niobe eventually joined the group, with Flora and Tecna eventually wandering over. The adults chatted amongst themselves, with Radius once again offering Solaria's services. They royal children stood dutifully by their reigning parent's side, with Miriam looking like she had a death grip on her daughters. Not that I could really blame her, she did loose them both. Eventually the goodbyes settled and Teredor and Niobi wandered off, with Layla forced to trail behind. She shot me a loo and I nodded, silently telling her I would catch her up.
"Come on my Sunshine, say goodbye to your friends, we must be off." Radius said, nodding to us.
"Yes daddy, come on Bloom!" Stella said, dragging a stumbling Bloom with her, leaving their parents to watch them fondly.
"Alright girls, I'm staying on Domino tonight if any of you need a ride?" Bloom offered, twisting her hands.
"No thank you Bloom, I have my Digiporter and it can take us back to Alfea." Tecna replied, though nodded gratefully.
"I was going to offer to use my ring but seems you are all sorted!" Stella said, her sunny energy warming us all. "I'm going home with my parents, but I'll be back in the dorm soon." She promised, squeezing Bloom and Flora's hands.
"No problems sweeties, and Bloom, enjoy your time with your sister, it's been a long time coming." Flora said sweetly, reaching over to squeeze Bloom's shoulder.
"It has, I couldn't have done it without you girls, and Layla of course." She added, tears in her eyes.
"Oh I can't take this, group hug!" Stella wailed, pulling us all into a big squeezy hug.
we all giggled and hugged back, and I tried to ignore the feeling of wrongness, of incompleteness. Soon the missing puzzle slot back in when I felt arms around me and looked back to see Layla hugging Flora and me. Giggling, we moved out of the hug, and the girls all greeted Layla with excitement, gushing about the party.
"Alright Stella, we have to leave." Radius called out, giving Stella a stern look.
"Yes, come on Bloom, we have to get Vanessa and Mike back to Earth before returning to Domino." Oritel implored, sharing a haggard look with Radius.
"Daughters." They said simultaneously, getting faux glares from their kids.
"Hold your sun's we're coming." Stella huffed, giving us all an air kiss before dragging Bloom back with her to their families.
The four of us watched and waved as Stella and her parents vanished in the beam of light she cast from her ring, and as Bloom and her family left for their ship. I could hear them chatting away next to the hum off the sea but tried to redirect the sound, not wanting to intrude. Instead, I turned back to Flora and Tecna, with Layla standing next to us.
"Are you ready to go Musa?" Flora asked me, wrapping her jacket around herself.
"Actually, I'm staying the night here, going to help out Andros." I said, trying to word it delicately as I knew that Flora and Layla were also close.
She blinked back her surprise and smiled, though there was a tinge of confusion in her eyes. "Oh, okay then sweetie. Would you like us to stay too Layla?"
Layla just smiled and shook her head, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. "Nah its cool Flora, thanks though."
Flora smiled, though it didn't illuminate her entire face like normal. "Okay sweetie, let us know when you are coming back." She said simply, and we promised we would.
"Okay then, give me a few moments and… we're good!" Tecna said, beaming as a swirling mass of digital energy appeared in the air. "We shall see you girls later. Bye for now." Tecna said, stepping into the device with Flora not far behind her.
We waved until the energy dispersed and then we both slumped, spent. I glanced around the ballroom and saw it was empty of any guests, and felt the phantom weight completely recede.
"Do you think I upset Flora?" Layla asked me, her lips drooping at the thought of hurting our kind-natured friend.
"Honestly, a little bit, but she'll be fine. She just likes to be helpful." I said, not wanting to lie to her.
Layla nodded and led me to the arch where her parents were waiting, both wearing matching exhausted but happy grins. "The Merfolk just left so we can go relax now." Niobe said, her smile tinged with sleepiness.
"Would you girls like to join us for some hot kelp milk?" Teredor asked and I looked at Layla, unsure what the hell that was.
She chuckled, telling her dad we would. She turned to me and thread our arms together, leading the way up the stairs with her parents trailing behind us. "Trust me, it'd delicious. You'll love it."
I just nodded, not entirely convinced but hey, if she said it was good, I would trust her. she led me through the labyrinthine like castle, and into a plush, cosy seating area, complete with floor to ceiling sea views and a fireplace. "Wow," I whispered, staring at the ocean that looked like it was sewn with tiny diamonds.
"Beautiful right?" Layla asked rhetorically, gesturing for me to sit.
We chatted until the drinks came out, and I had to admit, it was delicious. "Okay, you were right, that is so good." I relented, making her cheer.
"I told you." She said smugly, curling into her seat with her steaming mug. "Come her enough and you'll be like a local before you know it, right dad?"
Teredor nodded, his mug up to his lips. "Exactly, my daughter. Now, I propose a toast." He said, extending his arm to the centre.
"What are we toasting, Teredor?" Niobe asked, her legs delicately curled under her.
"To the power of the sea, the safety and power of our daughter and most importantly." He paused, looking at his wife and daughter, before letting his eyes rest on me. "To family."
I forced the tears away and just nodded gratefully, lifting my mug, and repeating "to family" with the rest of them. After that, the trio descended into comfortable conversation about the day, while I stared out at the endless ocean, thankful in the knowledge I had my dad, my girls, these wonderful people, and my mother. She may not be next to me but she was all around me . She was in my heart, in the Song of Melody, and when I looked at a patch of moonlit ocean, and let my imagination fly, I thought I saw her, winking as she frolicked with the deceased Androsians, serenading them with her everlasting song.
Okay, that was super long at 5,270 words. I really hope you enjoyed it and there will be one more chapter. I wanted to hint at a bit more complexity with the girls, such as their feelings of inadequacy and the like that it glossed over, and a hint at Flora being a little hurt that she wasn't asked to stay. Layla is a prideful person she her being saved likely wouldn;t sit well with her especially after the Omega Portal thing.
