Welcome to the first chapter of Storm Hawks (My Version). It will tie in with my Slugterra series in the future. I hope you like it. Enjoy!
Chapter 1: Age of Heroes Pt. 1
(Intro):
'Atmos, world of a thousand mountain top kingdoms. Each protected by a Sky Knight against the forces of darkness. Beasts. Rogues. And worst of all, Cyclonians. The greatest of all Sky Knights, Lightning Strike, led the Storm Hawks. His mission, unite the kingdoms and rid Atmos of evil forever. But he was betrayed by his partner, the Dark Ace. The Storm Hawks defeated, and all hope lost.'
'Until now. I'm Aerrow. My sister Aria and I are the last descendants of Lightning Strike and the original Storm Hawks. And we've been given their mission. This is our squad. Finn, the marksman. Junko, the strongman. Piper, the specialist. The Stormheart Triplets, Skyler, Skyla and Sky, the Sky Scouts. Riggorix, the weaponist. Stork, the helmsman. And of course, our co-pilot, Radarr. We're the Storm Hawks. And for us, the sky is never the limit.'
Deep in the forest, Aerrow and Aria were riding their skimmers through with their co-pilot, Radarr. "Just hold on, Radarr. We're almost there." Aerrow said. Just then, there was a shout. Radarr looked behind them and shrieked at the sight of a Wallop named Junko chasing them. "Yeah, we see him." Aerrow said. "But not for long. Let's jet, bro." Aria said. They revved up and sped off, avoiding crashing into the trees. Radarr looked back. Junko was punching through the trees with his Knuckle Busters.
As Aerrow and Aria finally exited the forest, they started driving towards the edge of a cliff. Radarr closed his eyes as they drove over the edge. "Radarr?" Aerrow called. Radarr, having his eyes shut, peeked out. "Wings?" Aerrow asked. Radarr realized this and activated the skimmer's wings. Aerrow then revved the engine and took off into the sky. "Not bad, Radarr." He said. But then, he noticed that Aria wasn't with him. "Aria! Where'd you go?!" He called. Just then, Aria's skimmer flew up past him, surprising him and Radarr. "Must you always make such risky entrances?" Aerrow asked. "Hey, you're the one who influenced me." Aria said. "Yeah, you're right." Aerrow said sheepishly. "Anyway, think we lost him?" Aria asked.
Just then, a rocket blew right past them. Aerrow and Aria looked behind them, seeing Junko flying after them. "Guess, that's a no." Aerrow said. Junko sneered as he fired another rocket. "Radarr, hang on!" Aerrow called. Radarr gripped his handles as Aerrow did a barrel roll to dodge the rocket. "You missed!" Aerrow called. But then, 2 mini rockets hit his skimmer, causing his engine to sputter. Aerrow and Aria looked up to see a dashing young man named Finn fly in on his skimmer. "He may have. But Finn never misses." Finn said boastfully. "Oh, I really hate third person references." Aria muttered.
"Radarr, get that engine working." Aerrow said. Radarr looked through his co-pilot seat until he found his wrench. Just then, an orange blast blew past him, nearly knocking the wrench away. Aria looked back, seeing a tiger-like Warpath named Riggorix flying in from behind. "I'll buy you some time." Aria said, turning her skimmer around and flying towards Riggorix. "Ooh. Someone wants to play Sky Knight." Riggorix muttered, preparing to take aim. But Aria smiled. "Ready to go, Mimi?" She asked. Something chittered in her mini wrist-bow. As Riggorix locked on and prepared to fire, Aria fired her little pet Lava Eel, Mimi, spewing a blob of lava at Riggorix's trigger finger. "Ow!" Riggorix yelped as Mimi landed on his skimmer. Aria picked her up as she flew past Riggorix, who growled.
With Riggorix distracted, Radarr got to work on the engine, banging it with his wrench. Finn kissed his special shock rocket and loaded it in his skimmer's launcher. As Radarr banged the engine, Finn fired the rocket, hitting Radarr and shocking him. Aerrow cringed at this before revving up his engine and speeding away. Aria flew up next to him. "You're not stopping us this time." Aerrow said. Just then, a horn blared. And then, a battle cruiser appeared in front of them. A Merb named Stork stood on the viewer's deck, sneering at them. Aerrow and Aria stopped their skimmers before they crashed. "Gotcha, Sky Knights." Stork said. Aerrow and Aria glared at the Merb. Suddenly, Radarr pointed up. A heliscooter flew above the airship, piloted by a beautiful young woman named Piper. She fired a blast from her Energy Staff, hitting Radarr and freezing him. "Freeze." Piper punned as she popped the Frost Crystal she used out of her staff and gave a wink.
Aerrow and Aria looked to see Finn, Junko and Riggorix surrounding them. "Face it, Sky Knights! You've been caught!" Piper declared. Aerrow and Aria just stared.
"You're surrounded!" Piper said. Aerrow and Aria looked at their only escape option. It was crazy and suicide, but they nodded, knowing that it was the only way out. "The only way out is if you 2 were crazy enough to-" Aerrow and Aria dove their skimmers down. "-dive into the Wastelands." Piper muttered with shock and surprise. "So much for your big flanking maneuver." Finn said. "Now what?" Riggorix asked. "I know a shortcut! Follow me!" Piper said, taking off.
As Aerrow and Aria continued their dive into the Wastelands, Radarr finally thawed out, shivering from the cold of the ice. He then squealed when he saw the lave lake at the bottom. "Are you sure this was a good idea, Aerrow?" Aria asked. "They'd be crazy to follow us through the Wastelands." Aerrow said. Radarr whimpered as they got closer to the lava. "We'll be fine." Aerrow assured. He and Aria pulled up and steered around the rocks. Just then, they were coming up to a couple of Lava Eels. Radarr ducked into his seat. Aerrow and Aria barrel rolled around the Eels as they lunged for them. Radarr peeked out, thinking the worst was over. But another Eel was just up ahead, causing Radarr to scream. The Eel lunged, but Aerrow barrel rolled to dodge. "See? Nothing to worry about." Aerrow said. But Radarr glared as he begged to differ. Half of his co-pilot seat was taken off by the Eel.
Just then, they came up to a couple of lava geysers just as they were going off. Radarr screamed as Aerrow and Aria steered around the geysers and avoided another lunging Eel as they flew out of the Wastelands. Radarr sighed with relief. Aerrow and Aria looked ahead to see that they had reached their destination. A terra with a bright beacon. "Terra Atmosia. We're gonna make it." Aerrow said. "Let's boost the rest of the way." Aria suggested. Aerrow took out a Fuel Crystal and dropped it in his skimmer, boosting his engine and speeding him towards the city. "Hey! No head starts!" Aria called, dropping a Fuel Crystal in her skimmer and catching up to her brother.
By then, Piper, Finn, Junko and Riggorix had made it to Terra Atmosia and landed in the city, catching the eyes of the civilians as they drove towards the tree in the center of town. Finn drove up to it first and touched it. "Yes! I did it! I'm the winner!" He boasted cheerfully. "Actually, that would be us." Aerrow said, standing on a limb with Aria and Radarr. Finn groaned as Aerrow and Aria leapt down. "Which means the last one to the tree has to do all the dishes on the Condor for a month." Aerrow declared. Piper, Junko and Riggorix touched the tree immediately. Radarr fell from the tree, stood up in a dizzy stage and held out his arm to touch the tree, only to fall back down.
"Aerrow! Aria!" A voice called. Aerrow and Aria turned to see their childhood triplet friends Skyler, Skyla and Sky Stormheart walking up to them. "You guys made it." Skyla said, hugging her friends. "Stormhearts. Good to see you again." Junko said, giving Sky a high-five. "Wait. Where's Stork?" Skyler asked. At that moment, Stork ran towards the tree. "See? This is why I never leave the ship." He said, annoyed that he was the last one to the tree. "Last to the tree again, Stork? You're slipping." Skyla teased. Just then, a boy and his father walked up. The boy caught sight of the insignia Stork's uniform and Junko's skimmer. The symbol of the Storm Hawks squad. "Hey, look, dad! It's the Storm Hawks!" He said with excitement. Finn smiled proudly. "Those aren't the Storm Hawks." The father said. Finn then got a deadpanned confused look. "Not the real ones." The father added, leading his son away.
The group just stared with disbelief. "Come on, you guys. We're here to do something about that, remember?" Aerrow said. "Yeah. We came here to become and succeed them as the new Storm Hawks." Aria said. "Maybe we can do something about this strange rash too." Stork said, scratching his neck. "I told you to take that remedy I got you last week! You never listen to me!" Riggorix exclaimed. "If you ask me, this is all a big waste of time." Finn said. "Finn, first, we didn't." Piper said, making Finn roll his eyes. "Second, even though Aerrow, Aria and the triplets ran through the trials and are rightfully knighted, we still have to register with the Sky Knight Council to be an official squadron. It's just a formality." Piper explained. "Well, they don't make us take tests, do they? Cause I'm lousy at tests." Junko said. "If it's a weapons test, I'd probably top the marks." Riggorix said with confidence. "If it's a lab test, I vote him." Stork said, pointing at Radarr, who growled at that. "Not cool, Stork." Aria said.
Inside the council building, the head bureaucrat looked through the registration letter. The team was nervous. "Well, it seems everything is in order." The bureaucrat said. "See? Just a formality." Piper said. "I'll need your names and positions for the registrant." The bureaucrat said, opening the registration book and getting a pen ready. "Aerrow, Sky Knight and leader." Aerrow said. "Aria, Sky Knight and second-in-command." Aria said. "Finn, wingman and sharpshooter." Finn said. "Junko, flight engineer and, um, heavy ballistics." Junko said. "Piper, navigation and tactics." Piper said. "Riggorix, weapons specialist and battle coordinator." Riggorix said. "Uh, Stork, *achoo*, carrier pilot." Stork said. "Skyler, Skyla and Sky, the Stormheart Triplets, Sky Scouts and backup." Skyler said. Radarr then hopped in and performed martial arts. "What is that? Some kind of pet?" The bureaucrat asked. Radarr growled at being called a pet. "He prefers mission specialist. We just call him Radarr." Aerrow corrected. "Other than my choice of pet. Mimi, my little Lava Eel partner." Aria said, showing Mimi on her shoulder.
"The council will be most pleased to learn that a new Storm Hawks has formed. Your predecessors were greatly admired. Especially your father, Lightning Strike. You and your sister have much to live up to, Aerrow." The bureaucrat said. "We're ready." Aerrow said. "Sign here please." The bureaucrat said, holding out the pen. As Aerrow walked up to take the pen, the bureaucrat adjusted his spectacles, seeing how young Aerrow looked. "Wait just a minute! How old are you?" The bureaucrat asked.
Just Aerrow gave his answer, the bureaucrat turned them down and closed the doors. "Well, that could've gone better. I think." Riggorix said. "I told you it was a waste of time." Finn said. "So, we may not be official. But Aria and I are still Sky Knights, you're still my squadron and we're still friends, right?" Aerrow asked. "Oh, I'm just with you until something better comes along." Stork said. "Rude." Aria scoffed. "I just wish people would take us seriously." Piper said with a sigh. "We're not just kids. We have the skills, we have the gear." "We have Finn." Finn boasted.
Just then, another Sky Knight Team came riding in. "It's Carver and the Red Eagles." Junko said. "Come on. Let's go meet them." Piper said. They walked over as a crowd gathered to greet the Red Eagles. "Now there's a real Sky Knight squadron." The father said. "I'm Aerrow of the Storm Hawks. It's a real honor to meet you." Aerrow said, offering a handshake. Carver took a look at Aerrow's squad. "Aren't you a little short to be a Sky Knight, kid?" He asked rudely. Aerrow glared. "Hey! Do you know who we are?! My brother and I are descendants of the greatest Storm Hawk, Lightning Strike!" Aria exclaimed. "If he was so great, he would've been a Red Eagle instead of a Storm Hawk." Carver said. Aria glared. The Red Eagles then rode towards the beacon tower. "What a jerk." Aria said. "Come on, let's go." Aerrow said. Piper sighed. "That could've gone worse." She said as she followed. But in the tree, sat a raven before taking off.
Meanwhile, in the land of Terra Cyclonia, the evil Master Cyclonis was gathering her forces to her capital. "Once upon a time, Cyclonia controlled the entire Atmos. Then along came the Sky Knights and all of that got messed up." Master Cyclonis said to her generals as she operated her machine. "I want things back the way they used to be. And as our Talon squadrons clip the wings of the Sky Knights, they will." Just then, a man walked in and up to her, catching the attention of everyone present. This man was known as the Dark Ace, a former Storm Hawk who betrayed them when he murdered Lightning Strike. "That would be my pleasure, Master Cyclonis." Dark Ace said. "The Dark Ace. So glad you could join us." Master Cyclonis said.
"I could care less about your plans, Cyclonis! What's in it for the Raptors?" Repton, the leader of the Raptors asked. Master Cyclonis unveiled her feathery hood and turned to face the questioning Raptor, holding up a crystal. "Untold riches to start." She said. Then she fired a beam from the crystal, pushing Repton up against the wall. "And I'll promise not to crush your measly little Terra Bogaton." She said, letting Repton down. Dark Ace smirked at this. "I believe something can be arranged." Repton said. "Good. And what of you and your sister, Lady Isis?" Cyclonis asked, turning to a female humanoid Plantar named Isis, and her human sister named Lilias. "After careful consideration, we will stand by your side, Master Cyclonis." Isis said. Lilias gave a chuckle as she nodded. "Then let it begin. It's time to send a message. The future of the Atmos belongs to Cyclonia. It belongs to me." Master Cyclonis said.
As soon as the Red Eagles arrived at the tower, Carver walked up to it and stared up at the beacon. "Carver, sir! Is something wrong?" One of the Eagles asked. "That depends entirely on your point of view." Carver said, reaching for his Energy Sword. "Long live Cyclonia." He turned and attacked his own squad. Then he went up to the top of the tower and took the source of the beacon, the Aurora Stone, causing everything to go dark.
Everyone in town saw this. "The beacon tower! It stopped, uh, beaconing!" Junko exclaimed. "But how?" Skyla asked. "Something must be wrong with the Aurora Stone." Piper deduced. "Storm Hawks, let's fly." Aerrow said. The Storm Hawks rode towards the tower.
When they arrived, they found the tower door blasted open and the Red Eagles frozen. "What happened?" Finn asked. "Whoever did this, must be powerful." Piper said. As they walked towards the door, Stork looked at the face of one of the frozen Eagles, feeling creeped out.
When they got to the top, they saw that the Aurora Stone was gone. "The Aurora Stone! It's gone!" Piper said. Just then, Carver appeared out of the shadows, holding the Aurora Stone. "You needn't worry." He said. "Carver?" Aerrow asked in confusion. "It'll find a good home on Cyclonia." Carver said. "But you're a Sky Knight!" Aerrow said. "A Sky Knight wise enough to see which way the wind is blowing. The future is Master Cyclonis. The stone belongs to her." Carver said. "I will not let that happen!" Aerrow said, drawing his Twin Energy Blades. "Neither will I!" Aria added, drawing her Energy Staff. "You're welcome to try and stop me." Carver said, drawing his Energy Sword. Both Aerrow and Carver activated the energy in their blades as both sides glared. Then Carver made the first move, slashing at the siblings. But Aerrow and Aria dodged to the side. Then Aerrow lunged at Carver. But Carver slashed at him and sent him into the beacon. Luckily, Aerrow bounced off the beacon and landed firmly on the floor. Aria spun her staff and prepared to swat Carver. But Carver turned around and blocked the attack. They then turned each other around to the opposite side. Carver then slashed at Aria's feet, but she back flipped towards her brother. "You good?" Aerrow asked. "Yeah, why? Getting sleepy already?" Aria asked, making a joke.
Carver then dared them to come at him. Aerrow and Aria leapt off the beacon and clashed their weapons with Carver's sword. As the others watched, all 3 struggled for a minute, until Carver broke the struggle and kicked the siblings. But luckily, they both back flipped and landed on their feet. Aerrow charged back in to deliver a flying kick, but Carver caught his leg and threw him to the ground. "Aerrow!" Piper cried. Aria charged in to jab Carver with her staff, but he caught her and flipped her over on her back. "Aria!" Sky cried. Little did they know, someone was watching from the shadows. "It's your job to protect Atmos! You made an oath!" Aerrow exclaimed. "Yes! You're a nothing but a disgrace now!" Aria exclaimed. "Oh, that's right. You 2 fancy yourselves Sky Knights. Sorry to disappoint you, but you're just a bunch of kids." Carver said. Aerrow and Aria glared at Carver as they stood up. Just then, they started to glow. Aerrow glowed a blue aura and Aria glowed a pink aura. They then leapt up, sprouted angel wings and each fired an energy blast from their weapons. A shocked Carver was blasted towards the beacon and the Aurora Stone was knocked out of his possession. The others cheered for their leaders. "When was the last time you saw kids do that?" Piper asked mockingly.
Aerrow and Aria sheathed their weapons. "That was…That was…" Carver tried to say, but he fell unconscious as Aerrow picked up the stone. "Aerrow, Aria, you did it!" Piper cheered. "That's…That's-" "The Lightning Claw." Aerrow said, recognizing the move he and Aria just did. "Our father's signature move." Aria said. "Guess we finally figured out our moves." Aerrow said. "We are definitely the real deal now, dude!" Finn said excitedly. Aerrow placed the Aurora Stone back inside the beacon, lighting up the city once again. The man in the shadows looked on at the siblings with a smile. "They're ready." He said before disappearing.
Afterwards, the authorities took Carver away. "The worst is yet to come! Cyclonia will rise again!" Carver ranted as the Storm Hawks stared at him. "Storm Hawks? We'd like a word." The head bureaucrat said, walking up to the Storm Hawks. "See? I bet this is the part where they beg us to protect the Terra." Finn said with hope.
"Get help?! I can't believe all they want us to do is get help!" He complained as they got back on the Condor. "Finn, thanks to Carver, there's no one here to protect Terra Atmosia or their Aurora Stone!" Piper exclaimed. "So, what do you propose we do about it?" Riggorix asked. "We'll bring reinforcements like they ask. But if we're looking for a way to prove ourselves, this is it." Aerrow said. "And I think I have just the thing for you to help do just that." A voice said. Stork yelped and hid behind his seat. Everyone turned to see Skyler, Skyla and Sky's grandfather, Thunderay Stormheart. "Grandpa?!" The triplets asked in surprise. "What're you doing here, sir?" Aria asked. "I have something to give to you." Thunderay said. He reached around his neck and took off a necklace that had a small black sphere with a Milky Way inside of it along with countless stars. "What is that?" Junko asked. "This is a very special artifact that belonged to my old team. It is called the Heart of Atmos." Thunderay said. "I've studied every crystal ever discovered in the Atmos. But I've never seen any records or recordings of this Heart of Atmos." Piper said. "That's because any records or recordings were lost during the fall of the original Storm Hawks." Thunderay explained. "Well, what can you tell us about it?" Aerrow asked. "The Heart of Atmos was the power source to an elite team of Sky Knights that served by the old Storm Hawks back before the war against Cyclonia. A team that I was a part of. We were on the verge of winning the war, until we were betrayed by one our own, the first leader of the Cyclonian Empire." Thunderay explained. "All who defied her were all but destroyed. As the last surviving member, I became the guardian of the Heart of Atmos. But now, after witnessing Aerrow and Aria's recent victory against Carver, I now decide to pass the Heart of Atmos to you." He handed the necklace to Aerrow. "Whatever you do, do not let it fall into the hands of Cyclonia. The Heart also possesses an unspeakable power." He said. Aerrow and Aria looked at the necklace, wondering what powers lie within the Heart of Atmos.
Meanwhile, in Terra Cyclonia, the Dark Ace, along with his 3 sub-leaders, Ravess, her brother Snipe, and a panther-like Warpath named Ratharr, presented themselves to Master Cyclonis. "Master Cyclonis." Dark Ace greeted with a bow. "I understand Carver has failed. And by the hands of Sky Knights who claim to lead the Storm Hawks?!" Master Cyclonis asked. "It's a rumor, your highness. The Storm Hawks are no more." Dark Ace assured. "Yes. We had our own parts in that tragedy." Ratharr added. "Go! Get me the stone. And this time, no mistakes." Master Cyclonis ordered. "Consider it, done." Dark Ace obliged. "Ravess! Snipe! Ratharr! Come with me." As the 4 left, a certain Talon guard watched them.
Meanwhile, the Storm Hawks had just left Terra Atmosia to get help. "We'll contact the Buff Buzzards at Terra Blusteria first." Piper said, going over a map of Atmos. "Then off to Tropica. And no, Finn. A surfing break is out of the question." Finn, who was holding a surfboard, groaned. "I don't see the big deal about some dumb crystal anyway." He said disrespectfully. The triplets gasped at that. "How dare you." Riggorix growled. "Finn, don't you know anything? The Aurora Stone is like the very symbol of Atmos." Piper said. "It's also the most powerful crystal ever found. There's no telling what Master Cyclonis would do with it." Aerrow said. "I can already picture the damage that crystal can do in her hands. And I'm not gonna lie to you guys, it is not a pretty sight." Skyler said.
"Let's not forget the eternal darkness, plague of evil and endless suffering that will most certainly follow." Stork said. "You're being paranoid. Again." Riggorix said. Just then, the alarm blared. "Maybe it's starting already." Stork said as he looked through the periscope. He looked through the skies until he saw an entire Talon battalion heading towards Terra Atmosia. "Yep. I was right." Stork handed Aerrow the scope. "Talons. And heading straight for Atmosia. There won't be time to get help. We're gonna have to handle it. Alone." Aerrow said. Aria, Riggorix and the triplets were ready to fight, but the others were a bit nervous.
"Okay, um, I'll use my last Drizzle Crystal to give us some cloud cover." Piper said, coming up with a plan as Finn attached a big cannon to his skimmer. "And then, we're gonna need some extra time for the slime sluggers to gel." Piper continued as Finn grabbed another cannon, but fell on his back due to the weight. "Ugh! What am I saying?! That's the worst plan ever!" Piper complained as Finn outfitted his skimmer with tons of cannons and rockets. "Any light of my eminent demise, I, Stork, do hereby bequeath all my worldly possessions-" Stork said, writing his will. "Dude, are you seriously writing a will?" Sky asked in disbelief. "Ugh, they're all gonna be destroyed anyway." Stork groaned, tossing the will away. Junko ran into the hanger with 2 rockets. "Has anyone seen my skimmer?" He asked. "I did." Riggorix said. "It's over-" He stopped himself as he and Junko saw how much weaponry and ammunition was attached on Finn's skimmer. "That thing's never gonna fly, Finn." Junko said. "Yeah. You've got too much loaded onto it." Riggorix agreed. Finn just shrugged.
Later, Aerrow, Aria, Skyler, Skyla, Finn, Junko, Riggorix and Radarr got ready on their skimmers. "So, nobody believes in us. Well, now's the time to prove them wrong." Aerrow said. "But this isn't like when we play 'Stop the Sky Knight' or 'Last one Lands does the Dishes.' This is the real deal! So, whatever you do, try not to- mess up." The team were confused. "Dude, worst motivational speech ever." Finn said. "Yeah, not your best work, man." Skyla said. "You know what I mean. Let's do it!" Aerrow said. Radarr popped on his goggles and the Storm Hawks revved out of the hanger door. They spread their wings, but Finn's took a while due to all the weight on his skimmer. "Just remember the plan and we'll be fine." Aerrow said. "Got it, bro." Aria said. "Um, I forgot the plan." Junko said. "Keep them off that Terra." Finn reminded, pointing to Terra Atmosia. "And away from the stone." Riggorix added.
As the Storm Hawks and the Cyclonians prepared to meet in battle, the Storm Hawks caught sight of Dark Ace leading the Talons. "Aerrow? That's the Dark Ace. As in the Dark Ace." Finn said, recognizing Dark Ace. "As in never lost a sky duel and is single-handedly responsible for the destruction of the old Storm Hawks!" Piper panicked. Aria glared. 'So, that's the man who betrayed and murdered our father.' She thought. "Not just him." Riggorix growled, seeing another old familiar face. Someone he loathed to see again. "Ratharr." He snarled. "Ratharr? Your brother?!" Skyler asked. "Not anymore. Not after he murdered our father and took my eye when we were cubs." Riggorix growled as he rubbed his eyepatch on his right eye. "Okay. This just got a bit complicated." Finn said. "Aerrow! Aria! Get out of there now!" Piper cried. "I'm not running away!" Aerrow exclaimed. "Neither am I!" Aria exclaimed. "We got your backs, buddies." Junko said. "Always." Skyla agreed.
Snipe led a squad of Talons on heliscooters, cackling as he slammed his mace into his hand. Ravess laughed maniacally, leading her squad as one of them set the mood for battle by playing a violin. (AN: Who brings a violin to a sky fight?!) Dark Ace motioned the Talons to attack. The Storm Hawks prepared to attack too. "Here they come. Open fire!" Piper yelled. "Just don't hit anyone we know." "Right. Got it." Sky said, operating the Condor's cannons. The cannons started firing at the Talons and at the cruiser. Stork steered around the Talons' incoming fire. The cruiser started firing, catching the Condor into a cannon fight.
Aerrow and Aria flew towards Dark Ace, who readied his Two-Handed Blade. When they were close enough, Aerrow drew one of his blades and slashed at Dark Ace. But Dark Ace jumped and dodged the attack. Aerrow and Aria looked at the Dark Ace's skimmer as it passed, but Dark Ace wasn't on it. "Where'd he go?" Aria asked. "You're both young ones." Dark Ace said. Aerrow turned to see him on the wing of his skimmer. "Since you're both new at this, allow me to explain the ground rules." He moved forward and grasped Aerrow's shoulder hard. "Aerrow!" Aria cried. "There are none. If you live, you win. And just so you know, I never lose!" The Dark Ace said, shoving Aerrow back in his seat and hopping back to his skimmer.
As Junko flew, a Talon came in and slammed into his skimmer. Junko activated his Knuckle Busters and slammed his left one into the Talon's skimmer, causing it to fall apart. Junko chuckled as the Talon deployed his parachute. But then, he saw Snipe coming in hot, attacking his skimmer with his mace and shouting with rage and battle lust. Junko avoided Snipe's attacks as he was being chased.
Meanwhile, Finn was having a spot of trouble. He couldn't get proper aim with all the weaponry weighing him down. "Can't get a good shot off!" He groaned. Just then, he heard a violin. He turned to see Ravess using her Energy Bow as a violin. Then Ravess fired an arrow. Finn tried to avoid it, but the arrow hit one of his cannons, causing him to spin out of control and lose all of his hardware. Finn screamed as his skimmer began to cease the spinning and steady itself. "Hey, that's better." He said, seeing that his aim was back to normal. He shot a couple of blasts, hitting the Talon with the violin. The Talon popped his chute as he fell.
Riggorix flew towards 3 Talons. He drew his 2 Energy Scythes and prepared to attack. As the Talons got close enough, in one single swipe, Riggorix slashed through all 3 of their skimmers, causing them to fall apart. The Talons popped their chutes as they fell. "Hello, brother." Ratharr greeted as he came up behind Riggorix and attacked his skimmer. Riggorix steadied himself and glared up at his traitorous brother. "Been a long time, brother." Ratharr said, twirling his Energy Sword. "You've lost the privilege to call me brother the day you betrayed our family, killed our father and took my eye!" Riggorix exclaimed angrily. "Oh, yes. What a pity. Then I guess I'll have to correct my mistake then." Ratharr said, speeding his skimmer towards Riggorix and preparing to slash him. But Riggorix blocked the slash with his scythe.
Aerrow and Aria continued to duel against Dark Ace. But then, Dark Ace fired a blast from his Blade towards Radarr. Radarr braced himself as the blast hit, but he saw that the blast completely took off his co-pilot seat. "Radarr!" Aria cried as she and Aerrow got worried for their co-pilot. But then Radarr popped his chute and gave a thumb's up, saying he was okay. Aerrow and Aria were relieved, but then they turned back to Dark Ace with anger. Dark Ace saw them coming and all 3 started clashing with their weapons.
Skyla clashed with a couple of Talons, striking their skimmers with her Energy Rod. The Talons popped their chutes as they fell. "Let that be a lesson to you. Never mess with a Stormheart." She said. Suddenly, a blast shot passed her, nearly scratching her cheek. She looked behind her to see one more Talon chuckling. But then, Skyla grinned. The Talon was confused, until he felt someone's presence behind him. He turned and saw Skyler standing behind him on his skimmer. "That was a mistake." Skyler said before he punched the Talon, knocking him off the skimmer. Skyler hopped back on his skimmer just as the Talon's skimmer dropped due to no driver. "You okay?" He asked as he flew up next to Skyla. "Yeah. I'm good. Thanks for looking out, bro." Skyla said. "It's what I do, remember?" Skyler said.
Junko and Snipe flew towards each other. Junko prepared to fire his rockets, but they didn't move. He pounded the trigger button. "They're stuck!" He panicked. He started to think as Snipe smirked. Then he got an idea. He roared at his rockets, startling them and firing them. Snipe screamed and bailed out of his heliscooter before the rockets hit it. He popped his chute, a passing Talon snagged it with his skimmer's wing and slammed Snipe into another skimmer. "Ooh! That's gotta hurt." Junko said.
Riggorix and Ratharr continued to clash as they flew through the air. "I'll admit, you've grown stronger. But you can never get a paw off on me." Ratharr said. "Oh, I wouldn't be sur of that." Riggorix said. Ratharr was confused, until he looked at his skimmer's wing. There was an Explosive Crystal stuck to it. "Oh, come on!" He shouted as he bailed out before the crystal exploded, taking his skimmer out. As he popped his chute, he roared out of frustration. "You still have much to learn, brother." Riggorix said.
Finn and Ravess continued to duel. Finn chuckled as he got a clear shot. "I've got you in my sights now." Ravess said as she drew back another arrow. They both fired, but Ravess' arrow burst right through Finn's, much to his surprise. He tried to dodge the arrow, but it hit his skimmer. He looked at his skimmer and saw that the blast had split it in half. "Aw man!" He complained before he fell, screaming. Ravess smiled as she watched Finn fall. But luckily, Junko passed by on his skimmer, catching Finn on the hood. Unfortunately, Finn landed on his groin. "Going my way." He said with pain.
Meanwhile, the Condor was really taking a beating. "Shields are down! We're getting clobbered by that cruiser's cannons! Piper, Sky, if we don't run now, we're gonna lose the Condor!" Stork panicked. "Stork, what about the others?!" Piper asked. "Yeah, they're still out there!" Sky added. "Uh, they should run too." Stork said, steering the Condor out of the battle. Finn, Junko, Riggorix, Skyler and Skyla followed as the Talons pursued them.
Aerrow and Aria continued to battle the Dark Ace until their skimmers broke away from each other and prepared to charge towards each other again. "So, you call yourselves Sky Knights. Well, where're your fancy moves?" Dark Ace asked. "They're right here." Aerrow said, closing his eyes and glowing. Aria did the same. They then leapt off their skimmers and fired their Lightning Claws. But the moves missed. Aerrow and Aria landed. "Good form." Dark Ace said. Aerrow and Aria had landed on his skimmer. They attacked him, but he blocked them with his Blade. "But you need to work on the landing." Dark Ace said before kicking Aerrow and Aria off his skimmer. Luckily, Aerrow and Aria were equipped with gliders. They popped them open and glided through the air, looking for Dark Ace. Just then, Dark Ace came around on his skimmer. Just then, Dark Ace started to glow red. Then he leapt off his skimmer and fired his own move at Aerrow, slashing the right wing of his glider, causing him to fall. "AERROW!" Aria cried.
The people gasped as Aerrow crashed to the ground. Aria glided down and ran over to him. But before she could help her brother up, Dark Ace stood before them, holding his Blade to their necks as the Talons flew for the beacon tower. "This is the part where I claim victory. But since you 2 are young, I'll allow you the lifetime to savor your defeat." Dark Ace said, deciding to spare the siblings' lives. Just then, the Talons rode over from the tower and handed Dark Ace the Aurora Stone. "Your own sworn protector turns on you and Atmos sends children instead of Sky Knights?! How pathetic!" Dark Ace announced as he placed the Aurora Stone in his satchel and boarded his skimmer. "The wrath of Cyclonia is your future now!" Aerrow and Aria glared as Dark Ace and his Talons took off.
When they were gone, Aerrow started groaning from the pain he received from the landing. "Easy, Aerrow. Don't push it." Aria said. Just then, Junko, Finn, Riggorix, Skyler and Skyla landed and ran over to help. Aerrow continued to groan as they helped him up. "You okay, Aerrow?" Junko asked. "He didn't hurt you too bad, did he?" Skyla asked. "Where are the others?" Aerrow asked. "Aerrow!" Piper called. Everyone looked up as she came down on her heliscooter with Stork, Sky and Radarr, having picked him up on the way. Radarr leapt at Aerrow and Aria, hugging them. "Are you okay?" Piper asked. "I'm fine." Aerrow assured.
"The Aurora Stone in the hands of Cyclonis and her Talons!" The bureaucrat exclaimed as he walked up. "Our own Sky Knight has betrayed Atmosia. Something must be done!" "It will." Aerrow said. "We'll see to it." Aria said. "The future of the entire Atmos rests in that crystal." The bureaucrat said. "We're going to Cyclonia to get it back." Aerrow said. "We are?!" The team asked in shock and confusion. Aerrow and Aria nodded. "We're doomed." Stork said.
Dark Ace held up the Aurora Stone with a dark smile as his Talon squadron returned to Cyclonia.
