EPOV
Two weeks later, I received a resignation letter from Bella.
Sure, if this was what she wanted, there was absolutely nothing I could do about it!
"You've been a great asset to the company. Thank you for everything you've done. Let me know if you need anything from me anytime," I said.
"Sure, thank you." she said.
I was fucking done with everything.
I realized I had become obsessed trying to protect her and her image, and I had messed it up badly in the process, but she wasn't even willing to try and understand me.
Maybe our relationship was never as strong as I thought.
I had decided right on that night that it was the first and last time I had ever cried for anyone!
I was fucking done!
"I'm really happy that Bella is finally moving on for real from the toxic relationship," Alice said to Mom while shooting glances at me.
She was getting on my nerves now.
"Alice... What are you..." Mom tried to say something, but I interrupted her.
I was fucking done with Alice.
"Enough is enough," I snapped, "If you want to suck up to your best friend, feel free to do it. But stop treating me like a shit! I've had enough with you! If you don't have anything good to say, just stay away from me! I don't give a damn!"
I've had enough with everyone and everything.
"Look, I'm trying to confirm for the last time. There are two options," Marcus said to me on the call that evening, "Either we can upfront say that you were involved romantically with Bella, and we can emphasize the 'love' angle, you know? Or the second option is, we can say that you've had multiple flings when she was in Coma to downplay or completely discard Bella's involvement."
"Go ahead," I said.
"With which option?" he asked.
"Second." I said.
"Alright..." he sighed, "Be ready for the character assasination."
"I'm ready." I said.
The person who used to be the most important to me didn't give a damn about my character.
I doubted if anyone else's opinions were going to matter now.
