Chapter 1

Loki opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling, wondering where he was. He took stock of what he could notice about his surroundings. He knew he was lying on a bed but he felt tied to it. He listened for any noises in the area but only heard a few birds and wind chimes. He tried to remove his restraints with magic but nothing happened. He noticed a heavenly food smell waft closer and he realized that he was hungry.

He tried his magic again but failed. He tried sitting up and succeeded, only to find that his restraints seemed to be invisible. His wrists felt magnetically secured to the bed.

He looked around the room and found it to be a guest room of some sort. His armor was hanging over a chair in the corner and his shoes propped up by the door.

"Where the hell am I?" he asked himself.

He sat in silence, scanning the room, wondering how he got there, who had taken him there, why they'd taken him, and how he could get out. His stomach grumbled and he tried to move around on the bed to no avail. He sighed deeply.

"Hello?" he decided to call out. "Hello? Anyone out there? Where am I?"

He heard glass break and then silence for a few moments before the door opened slowly.

His jaw dropped when he laid eyes on his captor. He snapped it shut immediately and tried to maintain a neutral expression.

His captor was a tall, thin young woman. Her hair was long and waved to her waist in a color that resembled raw gold. Her skin, too, was gold-tinted and her green piercing eyes looked a little familiar. She crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe, watching him and he could swear he knew her from somewhere.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Loki asked finally.

"I…" she faltered. "I want nothing."

"Then let me go." He insisted. "Why are you holding me captive? How are you doing this?"

"I don't know," she said and pursed her lips. She walked into the room and waved a few fingers and he felt the grip release.

Loki swung his legs off the bed and walked towards her. With another gesture of her hand, he was back on the bed as if he'd never moved.

He tried again and just appeared on the bed once more. He tried to use magic but he felt nothing. He sighed, almost defeated.

"Who are you?" he asked feeling the magnetic pull of the bed keeping him seated this time. He watched her face, wondering if she was enjoying this or was afraid of him.

"I don't know," she said and scoffed.

He frowned.

"I know who you are." She said matter of factly and his curiosity skyrocketed.

"You do, do you?" he prompted.

"You are Loki of Asgard and you are burdened with great purpose." She imitated him. He huffed, annoyed.

"How do you know that, but you don't know who you are?"

"Well, I can't exactly read my own mind, now can I?"

"You read minds?" he mused, already thinking of ways that can come in handy.

"I have to be touching you, to be able to do it, but yes," she started whispering, "Probably shouldn't have said that." She blushed and bit her lip.

"Why are you restraining me?" he asked, taking note of her lips.

"Well, you're going to hurt me if I let you go."

"I won't hurt you," he said with a frown.

She tilted her head and smiled. "That might be true, but it might not."

"Why would I hurt you?"

"To escape."

"Ah," he uttered, knowing she was probably right.

They remained in silence for a bit.

"I could try to escape without hurting you," he stated.

She laughed and he felt a strange sense of warmth.

"Or you could just not escape." She noted.

"Or you could just let me go," he added.

"I could, yes." She mused, "but where would you go? What would you do?"

"I'd go home." He simply stated.

"How?"

He suddenly looked around him, searching for the tesseract he had when making his last escape.

"Where's my Tesseract?" he asked, trying to fight his restraints.

"Your what?"

"The blue crystalline cube that brought me here. Wherever here is." He said through clenched teeth.

"Oh." She gasped and looked away.

"Oh?" he asked, suddenly furious.

"That's not here anymore." She backed away towards the door, "It's gone, I could only save you."
