Welcome to Republic City (Yuji)

Republic City.

The Capital City of the United Republic of Nations

The city itself stylized in a steampunk manner. And in terms of architecture and culture,it was a hybrid of Shanghai, Japanese and American Cultures set in the 1800's to the late 1930's.

Another fitting description of the city would be one where the Industrial revolution had never stopped, but instead kept evolving.

This was apparent with the numerous skyscrapers plastered across the city which gleamed in the morning light. Along with older brick skyscrapers closer to ground level.

Connected across nearly all the buildings, whether big or small were giant zipplines which would hover above pedestrians. One could only imagine that they served as a means of transportation, but for what is uncertain.

Holding up traffic on a bridge similar to the Golden State Bridge are several different automobiles, which were named Satomobiles, with each colored differently.

Across the shore on the city's river was a Tokyo Tower-like landmark, but with a completely different monument.

A giant,green statue of Avatar Aang,one of the two founders of Republic City, holding a staff with the symbol of Air on it's tip. It's overall face expression was a serene one that looked over the city. The statue drew obvious parallels to the Statue of Liberty while looking at it.

At the far left side of the statue was an island with a temple compound built on it along with small ports.

Republic City was certainly and alluring and enticing city that was pleasant on the eyes.

And for it's millions of residents,it was home.

But for a young man who had been forcefully separated from his friends through unforseen circumstances,it was like a maze to him. As the deeper he went into it,the more confused he was, and the more lost he felt.

Standing in front of a shop with a red tent over it was a boy fair in complexion of average height and a slender build. He also has relatively large light brown eyes and spiky pink hair that's styled in an undercut fashion.

There is a noticeable scar between his two eyes and a smaller scar on his left labial commissure of the mouth.

Underneath his eyes are two light but noticeable lines.

His clothing consists of a black long sleeve shirt resembling a gakuran over a red hoodie, black pants, and red shoes.

This is Yuji Itadori. He was currently engaging in a conversation with the shop-keeper who was an elderly woman with fair skin,dark eyes and shoulder length hair. She was dressed in a brown shawl atop a light blue gown.

"So let me get this straight. You have no idea how you got here,or where this is?" Asked the woman as she looked at Yuji with disbelief.

"Pretty much." Said Yuji nonchalantly.

"Did you hit your head or something?" She asked Yuji as she looked at him with suspicion.

"Pretty sure i didn't ." Said Yuji as he lightly scratched the back of his head. She looked at Yuji with surprise, blinking twice as a result. With a light cough to clear her throat,she would regain her composure.

"Kid,this is Republic City." Explained the woman.

"It was founded by Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang after the Hundred Year War as a safe haven for people across all the four nations. It's been around for decades, and though it's got it's fair share of problems, it's still home. And as someone who's lived here all their life, and has seen both the best and worst this city has to offer, I can tell you that as long as you mind your business, and stick to what everyone else is doing, you'll be fine. And hopefully, you'll enjoy your time here as well."

Unfortunately, the reaction the woman's words garnered from Yuji was not what she expected at all,as he looked at her with even more confusion.

"You... didn't understand a thing I said?" Asked the woman with disbelief.

"Nope, sorry." Said Yuji with a bit of embarrassment.

"Thank you very much for your help, though,miss!" Said Yuji as he took a bow of gratitude, taking the woman by surprise.

"Ahh... don't mention it." Said the woman as she struggled to regain her composure.

"But what are you going to do now?" She asked.

"To be honest,I don't know." Admitted Yuji as he looked to the side with his hands on his waist.

"I'll probably have to go deeper into the city. Hopefully I can find the answers I'm looking for." Said Yuji as he looked back at her with a broad smile.

"Well then,I wish you good luck..." Began the woman with a small smile. She would cut herself off however, upon hearing an Satomobile's engine roar. Right around a street-corner, a red Satomobile pulled around into view with a golden Lion-Turtle plaque adorning the front.

The sight of the vehicle caused the woman to pale in fright

"You'd best get moving, it isn't safe." She warned Yuji before making herself scarce, much to Yuji's surprise. Upon looking at the parked vehicle however, his expression would change into a frown.

Once the red and golden hooded Satomoible stopped, three sleazy looking men stepped out; one was tan in skin-color with pale blue eyes wearing a top hat, white gloves and snazzy clothing consisting mainly of blue and white colors, indicating he was of Water Tribe descendent.

This is Viper.

The second was a slightly shorter pale skinned man with sleek black hair, mustache and wore black clothing with a red scarf and his eyes were the color of amber. An obvious Firebender.

This is Two Toed Ping.

The last one was the tallest, and bulkier of the bunch, he wore green clothes, his skin was tan, head was shaved and his eyes were clear green. He was clearly an Earthbender.

This is Mushi.

Yuji's body tensed immediately,as he could tell that the trio's intentions were anything but pure.

The trio of thugs sauntered over to a phonograph vendor cleaning one of his products with a white rag, before he did a frightful double-take upon noticing the men approach him. The man with the top hat approached the shop keeper and spoke in a voice that oozed with charisma and arrogance.

"Mr. Chung, please tell me that you have my money. Or else I can't guarantee I can protect your fine establishment." As if to emphasise his point, the man with the red scarf lit a small flame in his left hand while grinning maliciously

Mr. Chung trembled in fear, "I'm sorry; business has been slow." He tried to appease them, as he held up the phonograph he had just polished, "Please, take one of my phonographs."

The response he got was the Firebender destroyed the offered phonograph with a flaming half-moon kick. The storekeeper yelped, falling flat on his backside as the phonograph burned to ashes.

"My friend here is not a music lover." the leader said, shaking his head while speaking in a sarcastic manner. "Gimme the money, or else-"

"Or else what?"

The thugs turned around, as they saw Yuji standing behind them, with his hands by his side. He looked at them with a cold glare, thus matching the tone of defiance he used when he uttered the words he did to challenge them.

Unbeknownst to Yuji, aside from the nearby shop-keepers, a young woman around his age was watching the scene unfold from one of the stands.

She had blue eyes, dark-brown skin, an attractive yet well-muscled body, and dark-brown hair tied in a medium ponytail that touched the back of her neck and tied by a blue hair band, and had two long bangs framing her face with two blue bands, and had the rest combed to the left with a bang daring to fall and cover her face. She wore a blue sleeveless top and a pair of blue baggy pants with a blue wrap around her waist, and blue arm bands on her forearms.

This is Korra. She had initially wanted to step in to challenge the Triple Threat's herself, but stopped herself from doing so once Yuji burst onto the scene,and looked on as the events unfolded.

The thugs stared at Yuji for a moment, looked at each other questioningly before bursting out in laughter. After they stopped, Viper looked at Yuji as he prepared to address him.

"Since you're obviously fresh off the boat, let me to explain a couple of things. You're in Triple Threat territory, and we're about to put you in the hospital." Threatened Viper with a smug grin on his face.

"You can still give up now. Otherwise, that hospital you mentioned, you're going to be the one needing it." Said Yuji defiantly as he pointed at a surprised Viper.

"All three of you." Yuji would then point at Ping and Mushi before dropping his hand.

Viper's expression would change from a gasp of shock to a scowl of annoyance.

"Who do you think you are?" Asked Viper with growing rage.

"Find out for yourself." Taunted Yuji.

Viper's rage had reached it's peak. He dipped his hand into his coat and, with a swift hand thrust forward, sent a water-blast from a hidden water skin pouch.

Yuji would dodge this by sidestepping to his right side, and would look at where the water landed with shock. Upon looking back at a surprised Viper, Yuji's eyes would narrow. In a blur-like motion,Yuji would appear in front of an unsuspecting Viper, and land a gut punch with his right hand, causing Viper to briefly wheeze in pain before falling unconscious.

Yuji would then push Viper forward with his left palm, causing him to fall on his back to the ground while knocked out.

"What just happened?" Asked an astonished elderly woman in purple to no one in particular. She, along with a young man in red and white were the shop-keepers of the shop Korra stood in front of.

"Did he just knock him out? With one punch?!" Asked the man in disbelief.

Korra was at a loss for words.

Slightly regaining his composure due to his shock, Ping would lit his right first on fire, and attempt to throw a blow at Yuji. Yuji would counter this by shoulder charging Ping with his left shoulder, causing him to fall to the ground on his back as well.

Mushi would then stomp on the ground with his left leg, causing a small landslide to move towards Yuji. Yuji would then jump into the air towards Mushi, before landing a reverse roundhouse kick across Mushi's face, causing him to turn around while slightly disoriented.

Now standing in front of Mushi,Yuji would spread his legs apart as he placed his clenched fists to his side. Once Mushi had slightly regained his composure, and faced Yuji directly,Yuji would land a one inch punch on Mushi's midsection.

The force behind the blow was so powerful that it sent Mushi flying into the paper windows of a nearby radio shop.

"Did you see that?!" Asked the woman with amazement.

"He sent that guy flying!" Said the man with awe as both he and Korra's jaws had dropped.

Yuji had already begun walking towards the downed Mushi. Once he stopped in front of him,Yuji realized that he was unconscious.

Before he could utter a word, the sound of a roaring engine was heard. Yuji then turned to see that Ping had recovered and had gotten into the Satomobile, which was now barrelling towards him. They drove past Yuji as they made their getaway.

"He's getting away!" Shouted Korra as she ran from the store she was standing in front of. Yuji had a determined glare on his face, as he wasn't going to let that happen. Yuji would sprint towards the fleeing vehicle, much to the surprise of onlookers,as they didn't expect him to even get close to it.

Ping would look through the side mirror and saw Yuji running towards him. He wasn't concerned however,as the distance between him and Yuji was large.

Yuji wasn't deterred by this however,as he began to increase his speed. And though the distance gradually began to close,he knew it wouldn't be enough. Sighting a tent over a shop that had been abandoned due to the Triple Threats' appearance,Yuji ran towards it.

He would then jump over it before landing on the tent, and as a result, would springboard off it. Yuji would gain enough altitude in the process as he was directly above the Satomobile.

Smirking as he knew what this would entail,Yuji would land atop the Satomobile with a heavy thud, causing Ping to gasp in confusion. Upon sticking his head out the window to look at the roof of the car,Ping would gasp in shock upon seeing a smirking Yuji.

Yuji would then proceed to grab Ping by the collar with his left hand, and in a impressive display of strength, would pull Ping out of the window to outside the vehicle.

Flailing wildly due to fear, Ping would be thrown to the side by Yuji, causing him to tumble hard across the ground in a ragdoll like fashion. Yuji on the other hand, would jump off the Satomobile, and stick a superhero landing as he watched it spiral out of control before crashing into a store.

Yuji would then look to his side, and see a cowering Ping who initially wanted to make a run for it. But with Yuji spotting him, he knew that was no longer an option.

Ping would nervously cup his hands to his side, before screaming as he thrust his hands forward, sending a stream of fire towards Yuji in the process. Yuji would avoid this by jumping over the blast, to Ping's astonishment. And as a counter, would land a flying kick across Ping's face, knocking him out in the process.

Yuji, upon landing, would look back and see the defeated Ping sprawled across the floor.

"I don't believe it!" Said the woman with amazement. She, the young man and Korra had left the store to get a better view of Yuji chasing Ping. To say that the outcome surprised them would be an understatement.

"He beat them! All by himself!" Said the man with awe as both he and Korra's jaws had dropped.

"Who is this kid?!" Asked the bewildered woman. A question that Korra intended to get an answer for,as she began to run towards Yuji.

"Hey you!" Yuji would turn back to see who called him. He would notice Korra walking towards him.

"That was amazing! I've never seen anyone fight like that before. Much less a non-bender." Praised Korra with excitement. Though Yuji would look at her with confusion due to the word she used (non-bender),it would quickly fade into a sheepish smile as she now stood in front of him. Upon getting a better look at her, Yuji could tell that he was slightly taller than Korra. At least by an inch or two.

"Thanks. I felt i couldn't just stand there and let those guys have their way." Said Yuji modestly.

"After the beating you gave them,i don't think they're going to be causing any trouble anytime soon." Said Korra with a smirk as she crossed her arms.

"Um... yeah,i guess." Said Yuji as he scratched the back of his head with mild embarrassment, causing Korra to chuckle in amusement.

Suddenly,a siren was heard,thus cutting their conversation short in the process.

The two teens looked up and saw an airship flying overhead in the blue sky, suddenly, several men in black and silver armor flew out. They suddenly deployed metal lines, slowing their descent as they landed, and then retracted those lines into the sleeves of their uniforms.

"Cool, Metalbenders." Said Korra as she smiled in astonishment. This caused Yuji to briefly look at her with confusion, before looking back at the Metalbenders with curiosity.

Viper and Mushi were still on the spots that Yuji had defeated them due to them still being unconscious. As such, they were unable to pose any opposition to the Metalbenders who trapped and pulled at them with their metal wires.

The Lead Cop and another Metalbender had begun walking towards where Korra and Yuji were standing. Upon noticing them,a smile formed on Korra's face.

"Here's the last of them, officers. You have him to thank." Said Korra with a smile as she gestured to Ping and Yuji.

"Arrest Him!" The Lead Cop ordered, thus causing the Metalbender to capture Oing the same way he did his comrades. However, the Lead Cop would then turn to face Korra and Yuji.

"You're under arrest too!" He declared

At that moment, Korra and Yuji backpedal away, as the proclamation caused the two to tense up defensively.

"What do you mean he's under arrest?" Asked Korra she pointed at the downed Ping.

"You've already got one of the bad guys ; they were smashing up a shop!" Stated Korra.

The lead cop then pointed to the Satomobile Yuji crashed into the store.

"From the looks of it, he smashed up just as much as they did " The Cop said in reference to Yuji.

"That doesn't..." Began Korra, only for Yuji to place his hand on her shoulder, causing her to stop talking as she looked at him with surprise.

"I apologize sir, for not being more careful. I don't wish to cause any more trouble either,so I'll go with you." Said Yuji,to which the Cop nodded.

"I'm coming too." Declared Korra, catching both of them off guard.

"Is she with you?" Asked the Lead Cop.

"No, she's-"

"Yes,i am." Said Korra, cutting off Yuji.

"Sir,can you please give us a moment?" Asked Yuta as he looked back at the Cop.

"You have one minute." He stated.

"Thank you, sir." Said Yuji with gratitude before looking back at Korra.

"Why are you agreeing to go with them? You didn't do anything wrong." Stated Korra in a hushed tone.

"Maybe not, but the car crashing into the shop is my fault. I have to answer for that ." Explained Yuji in a hushed tone as well.

"It's your first time in the city, isn't it?" Asked Korra.

"Yes?" Admitted Yuji, with slight hesitation as he hoped that wouldn't pose a problem.

"Don't worry,it's my first time here too." Said Korra with a sigh before forming an understanding smile as she noticed Yuji's concern.

"Listen, we're both strangers in this place,so it'd be best if we look out for each other for the time being. At least until we get to where we're going " Suggested Korra.

"That could work" Said Yuji with a smile.

"Right. And with me being the Avatar, I'd say it shouldn't be hard to pull off." Said Korra confidently. She would look at Yuji with mild confusion,as his reaction was not what she expected at all,as he blinked twice in confusion while looking at her.

"Ok then...if you say so." Said Yuji causing Korra to form a bemused smile. Yuji would then look back to the lead Cop.

"We'll both come with you sir." Said Yuji.

"All right then, hurry up. We don't have much time." Ordered the Cop as he began to walk towards a line dropping from the airship. Yuta and Korra begin to walk towards him.

"Thank you, for offering to help me." Said Yuji with gratitude.

"Don't mention it." Said Korra with a smile.

"My name is Yuji. Yuji Itadori." Said Yuta as he introduced himself.

"Korra. It's nice to meet you, Yuji." Responded Korra.

"I feel the same way." Said Yuji with a broad smile.

That marks the end of the first Sneak Peek from Yuji's perspective.

For those who couldn't tell, this is Yuji from the Jujutsu Kaisen universe stranded in the Legend of Korra universe. Not a merger.

The same will also go for Yuta in the next chapter.
