Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan: The Chance at Redemption

A/N: I checked around, and nobody has done this before. It'll help with my interpretations of specific characters as they receive a chance to obtain all that they desire. But only a chance. I always try my hand at prototype chapters and let readers decide whether or not it has interest.

In the darkness, he couldn't see anything…until a ring of fire ignited around him! He ran from the flames as best as he could, but it seemed like every step he took led towards more fire! And then he stood still, watching as the fire danced around him at different angles. The heat was intense, but not as severe as he had expected it to be.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed him by his right shoulder and pulled him up into the air, over the ring of fire, where he got a better look at why the flames had danced around him the way they did. From above, it wasn't a ring of fire. It was a symbol of some kind of…serpent.

"What…what is this?" He asked whoever it was that grabbed him.

"Salvation or damnation," another voice told him. "Which one it is if up to those like you to decide, for yourself and those that will not be involved."

Then, he felt the arm holding him release him, letting him fall to the ground.

"Aaah!" He yelled, hitting the ground. "Aah…"

"Are you the first challenger?" Another voice questioned as he looked around, seeing that the terrain had changed; he was now on some kind of strange ground with an unusual symbol that was half-black and half-white, both sides with a smaller circle of the opposite color with the sky a dark gray. "Nothing has started, and you're in a rush to meet the end."

He was standing in front of a man that was dressed in a dark coat that reached down to his legs. Whoever this man was, there was something about him that reminded himself of someone he knew, but something about this man was just…off. And then he realized something else: He wasn't standing in front of the man, anymore. He was now watching six feet away from where he used to stand, and in his place…was a man just as old as the other man in the coat, dressed in a suit, with short hair and a mustache.

"Father!" He yelled, but the man, his father, threw a right hook at the man in the coat, who dodged him. "No! Get out of there!"

The man in the coat grabbed his father's arm and twisted it.

"Aaaurgh!" The father gasped, falling to his knees. "Stop! I submit!"

The man in the coat released him…and then kicked him in his face, knocking him down. And then, as though to show brutality…he raised his left foot and brought it down on the father's back, crushing his spine!

"Aaaauurgh!" He yelled in agony.

He was then grabbed by his head and lifted up in front of him by the man in the coat.

"Your father's soul now belongs to me," he told him.

"Eren!" The father yelled.

"You will be next."

The man threw the father back down…and transformed into a withered skull with empty eye sockets and sharp fangs in its mouth!

"Aaah!" A young boy gasped as he awoke from a dreadful nightmare; it had been a few days since he and his family had received news of his father's murder. What was that about?

Looking down at his right arm, just on the inner forearm, there was a strange mark or branding that looked exactly like he had seen in the dream. Strangely, he didn't have this mark on his arm until about a year ago, when he heard his half-brother on his father's side had died. As of late, he found this unusual symbol on his mind to the point that he had to draw it every once in a while just to remind himself that it made no sense to him.

"What was so special about this symbol, anyway?" He recalled his best friend asking him a week ago.

"I wish I knew," he had responded to him. I wish I knew what it meant.

To be continued…

A/N: Here is the prototype chapter until the next chapter is made in the future. I'd like reviews and opinions.
