Hello and welcome back to this new part of this story arc!

This was originally planned to be a one-shot. But while writing I realized that it would had been way too long. So I decided to spread it into 3 or 4 chapters instaed. To fully understand this story, I recommend to read the previous story 'Lose your mind!' first. But I tried to write it understandable without needing to read the other one my favorite OC Timmy Tanner makes his comeback! He will be an important part in this and the next story!

Enjoy!

Timothy Tanner, or Timmy for short, had no clue what to expect in Smallville. But Jonathan Kent's worried and desperate call around midday made him worried…

He hadn't seen the Kent brothers in person for 6 years. But as kids they were as close as someone could be. They were best friends. Timmy is a year older and never went to the same school as them. But he lived next door to them, and his father was working for the Daily Planet, too.

In the past, Timmy mentioned of course that Mr. Kent and Ms. Lane were very busy people. The many times, his own mother had to jump in as babysitter or Mr. Kent was absent or 'surprisingly called away' he remembered very well. But as much as he was surprised about Mr. Kent caring more for his job (his father has the same job but is not that often absent), he seemed to be a very caring person who really loves his sons and has often good advice.

It was Mr. Kent's pep-talk that helped him to overcome his fears about the move to Europe. He will never forget that evening when his parents told him that his father will be the Daily Planet's new head-correspondent in Europe and that the family is going to move to Berlin. How mad he was to leave all he knew and his friends behind. Mr. Kent found him crying on the terrace behind the house. He had no clue how Mr. Kent was able to see him or hear him. But his warm words and his story about how he once left his hometown and that moving to a new place was the best that could happen to him really helped. That and a farmers-story he never fully understood but it helped him anyway.

That's why he was so shocked about what he learned when he got that call from Jonathan on this Saturday. It was the Saturday at the beginning of spring-break. His parents were gone over the weekend. Timmy made plans to spend the day with his friends in the city. But when Jonathan called him and asked for a place to stay for one or two nights, and full of shame asked him to pick him up because his father 'avoids driving-lessons at any cost' Timmy left behind everything to help his friend. Timmy had a lot of questions, but the only thing Jonathan said to him was that he 'gives up'.

All alerts rang in Timmy's head. He said bye to his friends, rushed home, got into his hatchback, and drove to Smallville. As a huge Superman-fan, he knew exactly where Smallville was. As it was the town that seemed to be the center of Superman's biggest adventures and savings in the past two years. During the long and uneventful drive, Timmy had a lot of time to think about it…

He knew the Kent-brothers and their parents as long as he could think. He always admired their mother for the fact that she got to know Superman. But also, Jonathan's bravery, his willpower, and his attribute to never give up. No matter how difficult a situation was or how hopeless it seemed. Jon was someone you could always rely on. He always saw the strong bond the both Kent-brothers had with each other. As an only child he didn't know how it was to have a sibling. That was one more reason he was so shocked about Jonathan's 'giving up'.

After his move to Germany, the Kent-brothers were the ones who kept in touch with him. He will never forget them what they did for him. Or how they always supported each other. Jonathan was that kind of person who always jumps in to help someone. Even if he is unarmed or inferior…

On his way to Smallville, Timmy made no stops or breaks. Something inside him told him to get to Jonathan ASAP. There was a weird feeling like something terrible will happen if he does not get there on time.

The town of Smallville was as dull and boring as Jonathan always described. He didn't stop anywhere; he just drove straight to the Kent-farm like the GPS on his smartphone guided him. The farm looked in his eyes not better than the town. And all over was only corn! He expected Jonathan to wait outside, like he said on the phone. He parked in front of the house, honked, and waited. But nobody was home. He tried to call Jonathan again, but nobody picked up. He tried to call Jordan, but he didn't pick up eighter.

Timmy used the chance to look around. The farm was just like Jonathan described. A house, a barn, a silo, an old red truck, wide areas full of corn plants… The only thing that didn't seem to fit in at this place, were those two brand new trucks that looked way too expensive to be owned by someone in this town. They were parked in the barn and obviously not moved for a while…

After a few more attempts he finally reached Jordan, who told him about the shocking events earlier: Jon hit his head and got amnesia. The family is with Jon at the doctor…

"Timmy, would you please… Oh my gosh! Timmy, did you call the child-protection-service, today?"

"Wait, should I do that?" Timmy asked. Suddenly the most horrific things played in Timmy's mind. He couldn't believe it: Mr. Kent, the most mild-mannered man he ever met, is beating his kids?!

"No! I mean…"

"Jordan, if you are not able to talk freely, shall I call the police? Just give me a signal!" Timmy saw enough crime-movies and series to know that even the evidently most perfect family can be in truth the pure horror.

"No! No police! Jon will be fine! I am fine! There is no reason to… gosh… Timmy, the spare key is under the doormat. You can wait in our house!" Jordan said. "I'll call you back!"

Jordan hangs off, but Timmy was so terribly upset now. Maybe it is just a big misunderstanding. But why should someone call the CPS else? He didn't get it out of his head. But it would explain Jonathan's sorrow and his urge to get away from the farm. Jon wanted to explain him everything on the way back to Metropolis. His sudden amnesia made let the alarms in his head ring even louder. Timmy found the spare key under the doormat, right where Jordan said and went inside.

The house was unspectacular just like the rest of the farm and the whole town. Timmy looked around. Trying to find something that proves that everything is just a hoax. Or for the judge… just in case… Timmy's head said: No this is shabby. You can't search other people's shelves and drawers. Of course, there was nothing! It was just a typical house, with typical things and typical every day's stuff. Every any old person could live here. It was a bit, too normal… But his heart said: Help your friend!

After his conversation with Sarah Cushing and the woman from the child protection service Timmy became just more curious. It was like Jonathan was dragged into this town. Something about this town was not right. And this suspicion should be proven when suddenly three guys showed up, pushed a burlap sack over his head and tried to kidnap him… just good that the woman from the child-protection knew one of the guys (a boy she once took out of his family). The boy was so scared that he let off from Timmy and he was able to punch one of the others. As soon as they realized that he was not Jonathan they tried to flee…

Timmy ignored his injuries. His pain and the thought that he could had been the one who gets beaten up by a bunch of X-K fueled jocks. Mr. Kent's outburst and the shock he had about the fact that his hometown turned into this… there were no words to describe it.

After an awful evening, he spent with giving statements to the police, getting treatment by the paramedics, and learning that Smallville was even worse than he ever imagined, the only thing that cheered him up was that viral picture on Instagram of Superman and 'a Superboy' during a flying-lesson. A friend sent it to him, and it really raised his mood.

Jonathan and his family returned an hour later. Jonathan looked so pale. He smelled like fish… yeah, like seawater. Jonathan just rushed to get away. His parents were sad about his departure. That was obvious. His parents were worried. Something happened. Something terrible. Something that was so embarrassing for Jonathan. But they allowed Jonathan to leave, realizing that he need But, on their way back to Metropolis Jon said it was also the best day of his life.

"Oh god… It was so embarrassing. But this was also the best day of my life! I mean… suddenly I felt like they care for me. But … Oh my gosh… this was so humiliating…"

"What?" Timmy asked. He had no clue that Jonathan put on his father's suit and enjoyed 'being Kryptonian' all day.

"Awww… I…" Jonathan turned red. "Just please… drive and get me away from this awful town!"

They didn't talk that much for the next couple of minutes. But the more distance was between Jonathan and Smallville, the more he relaxed. It was evening. The sun was already setting. Timmy guessed that they would arrive his house by 10 o'clock or later…

"If you could choose your father, who would you take?" Jonathan had to ask this question now to prevent awkward silence again.

"Hmmm… I really love my dad, but if I think about choosing… I think I would like to be Superman's son." Timmy said. He had no clue that he was sitting right next to the actual son of Superman, who was right now very mad on his father, who just knocked him out today, and took him on a flight around the world today… gosh it was so complicated. After Jon's numb 'nice' Timmy continued: "Yeah… I mean, wouldn't that be cool to have a Superhero as father. Someone who can teach you to fly. Superman does already teach his son to fly…"

Jonathan's expression was so hilarious. Timmy thought, it could cheer his friend up a bit and so he took his smartphone out of the phone-holder to show him the photo on Instagram.

"Oh yeah, I am sure you haven't heard about it yet… that photo was published a few hours ago, while I was waiting at your house. And it's already viral …"

A photo of Superman and 'an unidentified boy in his teenage years' during something that looked like a flying lesson. Taken by a Japanese airline-pilot on the way from Tokyo to San Francisco. Superman's son already caused such a hype. There was no other matter in the social media. But instead of cheering Jonathan up, it got worse.

"It must be his son. Or at least another Kryptonian. Who else is able to survive at that height with the speed faster than a jet-airliner…"

"Timmy, please stop!"

"What?" now Timmy was able to see that Jon was even paler than before.

"Stop the car, I need to puke."

Timmy beaked the car immediately to allow Jonathan to open his seatbelt, then the door and jump out to walk a few steps into the nearby field to vomit. Timmy left the car, too to look after his friend who coughed hardly and burst out in tears. Timmy became just more worried.

"Jon? Are you all right?"

"No, I am not!"

"What's going on?" Timmy asked again.

"I… gosh… I fucked up… this is my fault… everything is my fault!"

"What is your fault?" Timmy didn't expect that Jon was talking about the photo on Instagram.

"They… Jordan never got on… a… and I on my first… aww…" tears ran down Jon's cheeks.

Timmy saw that whatever bothered his friend was so terribly, that it seems to destroy him… and Jon was not able to talk about it. But he wanted. Very deeply…

"HEY… HEY, JON… Look at me! Everything is okay… just take a deep breath…" Timmy said. Jon did. But it didn't help as much as Timmy hoped. "Hey, Jon… you don't need to handle this alone. Fuck on this town, that football guys, your parents… you kept all my secrets. You can tell me! I see you need to talk to someone."

"I can't…" Jonathan wailed. "…aww… this is… aww… not here…"

They were now around 20 miles away from the farm, but it was still not far enough for Jon. Back in the car, Jon waited for them passing the next county line. The more Timmy thought about it, the more he was convinced Mr. Kent treated Jon poorly.

"Okay, just… what I tell you now, never leaves this car."

"I swear by my soul!"

"Well… ehm… how to start… aw… Timmy, do you remember how we used to play Superman as kids? Turns out there was a reason I had always wished to fly like him… What? No… No, that's not a good start!"

"Start for what?"

"It is… I honestly have no clue how to begin with it?"

"Then… just… ehm… Start with… the big issue!"

"The big issue?"

"Yeah… The… main thing! The große Ganzes!"

"What?"

Timmy shrugged. "That's how it's called in German!"

"Aww… Well… The big issue is my father… Oh, my god what I am doing here? It can…" Jon almost blurted out that it could 'destroy' Timmy's life, endanger him and his entire family and changes everything. Timmy was probably the biggest Superman-fan he knew. If not in the entire world. But Jon felt so alone. "…aww… I am so sick of it."

"Okay… then… start from the beginning! I see you need to let it out."

"Fine. Just… promise to me to not freak out!"

"After this day, there is nothing that can shock me anymore!" Timmy shrugged.

Jonathan became pale again. "Aww… You know… this is a long story. But I think I need to let it out!"

Jonathan pulled the lever to adjust the seat to sit more relaxed. He closed the window by his side and turned the radio a bit lower. He knew he could trust Timmy. When his dad told Mrs. Cushing and his mom told Chrissy he felt like they didn't properly ask him for his opinion eighter. Now it's his turn…

"You know my parents were more or less always absenting. Work, assignments and whatever… Jordan and I often felt like their work is more important for them than us. And Jordan's anxiety made everything more complicated. I also felt sometimes that they care more about Jordan, but I knew it was just because of his condition. And then… my grandmother died! We went to Smallville all together for the funeral. The farm… it was the place where they raised my father."

"Yeah, you told me about that!"

"The day of her funeral… we were in the barn. We wanted to check the Internet-router. So, Jordan climbed up the shelve to get to the router, but… suddenly he fell off the shelve and a couple of heavy steel-pipes fell on us. And we both survived with just a few scratches."

"How that?" Timmy tried to imagine it.

"At first, we both thought that we had once again just more luck than brains! You know it wasn't the first time. But Jordan became curious. I mean, he was right: We should had been mud! And we survived with just a few scratches. The next day, while our parents were in town to handle our grandmother's bank-debts, we went back to the barn to look around. As kids, we were never allowed to go in there. At least not all alone. We found a hidden trapdoor on the ground under the hay. We went down there and…"

Jon shuddered.

"What? What was down in the basement?" Timmy asked. Was it a dark family-secret? A hidden body? A secret torture chamber?

"It ehm… it was my grandfather's old workshop but… there was also… aww…" suddenly Jonathan began to talk much faster. "…there was a spaceship hidden under a tarpaulin. Jordan touched it because he could feel it talking to him and a crystal came out. We ran out of the barn, just in time when our parents came back and… and we confronted them about the spaceship and our father confessed that it was the ship that brought him to Earth after his home-planet Krypton exploded."

Timmy thought he misheard: "Krypton?! Krypton, like… Krypton Krypton?"

"What other Krypton shall I mean? Then I asked him: You are Superman? But Jordan interfered: No, I have seen Superman! And then my father put off his glasses and lift the truck to fly with it in front of us… my dad is Superman!"

Jonathan talked so fast; Timmy needed a few seconds to fully understand what his friend just told him. But since Jon said 'Spaceship' he was not able to imagine everything.

"Jonathan, how bad is your concussion really?"
