A long time ago, special machines were made. They are known as the I.S. Units, which stands for Infinite Stratos. They were originally made for space travel, but they were much more potent for that. To avoid the possibility of war, they were made for sporting events. There was a time where only women were capable of piloting these machines, but that all changed. There was one male who could pilot them, named Ichika Orimura. Then one day, another male named Davis Motomiya could. However, in order to save the world, Davis loss the ability and his own unit named Dragonic Heaven. He thought it was the end of his adventures... Or was it?
The I.S. Academy was a school is a boarding school where students can learn to pilot I.S. Davis made many friends during his time there. Two of them, Kimi and Sierra, were enjoying a nice lunch and just went on with their normal days.
"This ramen is delicious." Kimi said as she scarfed down a nice bowl. "Sierra, you've got to try this." She said, but Sierra seemed lost. It was like her mind was somewhere else. Kimi was familiar with that look. "Are you okay, Sierra?"
"Huh? Oh... I'm sorry." Sierra said. "It's just that the ramen makes me think of him." Just like that, Kimi lost her appetite. Kimi was well aware of who she was talking about because she felt the same way as Sierra.
"Davis..." Kimi said as she missed him deeply. "It feels like just yesterday he left. Didn't have much of a choice. You can't really attend the academy if you can't pilot an I.S. anymore. The school year is almost over, we'll be second-year students, but it doesn't feel right without him." They both looked straight up and out into the sky as they both thought about him.
"What do you think he's doing?" Sierra questioned.
"Probably hanging with his new girlfriend." Kimi said with frustration. It was so hard for them since they both have harbored strong feelings for him, but they can't be with him and they knew he loves somewhere else.
"Bonjour!" They were greeted by two higher classmen named Charlotte and Rin.
"Hey. How's it going?" Rin greeted.
"Fine..." Kimi said, but had no joy in it.
"Oh... I know that face. You two are thinking about him, aren't you?" Rin said. Charlotte and Rin are both aware and understanding of what the girls are going through and are doing their best to support them.

A Dojo
Meanwhile, two other girls were at work. The two of them practice some kendo moves against each other. One of them charged in and tried attacking her opponent, but her opponent was much more skilled and was able to knock her kendo sword away.
"Skilled as ever, Houki."
"You're getting better, Lita, but you're still far from my level." Removing the kendo gear, the two of them took a break and tried enjoying some refreshing water. While they just sat there, Houki noticed that Lita's mind was wondering off. "You haven't stopped thinking about him, have you?"
"Have you stopped thinking about your guy?" Lita questioned. That certainly got Houki to be quiet.
"Houki! Lita! Hello!" They both looked up and noticed two of their friends coming their way.
"Hey, Cecilia. Hey, Serene. What's going on?" Houki asked.
"We had a free period and went into town to do a little shopping. We've managed to get some great deals." Cecilia said as she showed what she bought.
"That's nice. Where are your bags, Serene?" Lita questioned.
"Oh... I didn't really buy anything. I didn't really see anything I liked." Serena claimed, but Lita knew better.
"You didn't buy anything because you wanted him to see it, yet couldn't." Lita said. Serene knew she was busted. "You know, we can always go up to Odaiba to see him, but I get it. It's not the same."
"It's just not fair." Serene said as she and Lita were getting sad again.
"It sort of is. He can't pilot I.S. anymore, so he can't really be here." Lita said.
"I do know what you mean, Serene." Cecilia said as she placed a comforting hand on her. "Ichika was crushed and I do worry how he handles it." They all missed one guy and wished he was here with them.
"I wonder what he's doing right now." Serene said as she looked up to the sky, wondering what her special someone is thinking and wondering if he's looking up at the sky as well.

Odaiba
That special someone was none other than Davis Motomiya. Since he could no longer pilot those units, he had to leave the academy. What he was thinking about had to have been a lot. He learned he was adopted, had a twin sister, his birthmother was the enemy, and his birthfather was dead. He had a lot of good and bad, life changing times. As he was at his regular school, he was up on the roof and just stared at the sky, watching a passing jet.
"Davis..." Davis looked behind him and saw his girlfriend, Kari, standing there. "You okay?"
"Yeah. Don't worry about me, babe. I'm doing just fine." Davis said, but Kari wasn't really buying it. She knows him too well.
"Are you thinking about the I.S. Academy? Do you miss it, miss your friends?" Kari said. Davis didn't really answer. He just turned back to the sky. "I think you miss having all those girls fawning all over you. That's really nice when you have a girlfriend." She said as she sounded annoyed.
"What?! No! It's not like that at all!" Davis claimed, but Kari just chuckled.
"I'm just kidding." Kari said. She was trying to lighten the mood, but did get serious again. "It's okay if you do miss it. You went through a lot, and you can't just get over it." She walked over to him and hugged him from behind. "At least you got me and the others. We're here if you need to talk." She gave him a quick kiss before heading back inside and left Davis with his thoughts again. Does he miss being at the academy or is he really fine with things? Only Davis himself can say for sure.

The Academy
"I know we all miss Davis, but there's not much that can be done." Lita said, but it was hard for all of them to accept that Davis is really gone. The four of them were heading back to class, but something stopped them.
"There you are." They were met with two other friends.
"Laura? Fria? What's up?" Houki said.
"Mentor requires assistance." Laura said.
"Is there a problem? Is it about Ichika?!" Houki said as she and Cecilia thought it might be.
"Sadly, no." Laura said.
"Actually, Miss Orimura requires us, Lita and Serene. She needs Sierra and Kimi as well." Fria said. Sounded like something important and a good way to get their minds off of Davis.

Underground
Underneath the academy was a special room. The five girls were amazed at what they were seeing for they had no idea a place like this was underground. As the five of them had a look around the place, their instructor, Chifuyu Orimura, was above them with Maya Yamada with the Sarashiki sisters, Tatenashi and Kanzashi.
"I don't understand. What are we doing down here?" Serene asked.
"Miss Orimura, what is this about?" Kimi asked.
"Relax. We're just running a simulation is all." Chifuyu claimed.
"A simulation?" Sierra questioned.
"You see, we hold the best I.S. technology, holding vital detail and information. We need to ensure that is safe and secured." Miss Yamada said. "With everything that has happened around here, we must make sure our network is stabilized. To do that, all of you will have to dive into the virtual world."
"Can something like that really be done?" Lita questioned.
"It will be fun. Don't worry about it." Tatenashi claimed. "This is all routine. It will be no different from virtual reality."
"But why us?" Lita asked.
"You five hold your own personal units, which will be beneficial in this. It will make things like going through this easier." Chifuyu said. "It will be a little similar to how you operate your units." The five of them didn't really understood the logic, but they went with it. All five of the girls changed into their I.S. attires and got themselves ready for this. Each of them took a seat and got ready for a dive.
"Is something like this really necessary?" Kanzashi questioned.
"It is." Chifuyu said. "We have to ensure our network is secured and can't be easily hacked. Working on it from the inside will help with that. once inside, we can relay information to them on what to do."
"Preparing the dive." Miss Yamada said. She activated the system and all five of the girls were having their minds downloaded into the virtual world. Suddenly, there was a problem detected on their system. "Oh no!"
...
The Network
All five of the girls were downloaded into the network. Once that happened, all of them were standing in a strange digital space where it seemed like there was nothing there. The only thing that was standing before them were five doors.
"What a strange place." Serene said.
"You can say that again. Shouldn't we be doing something by now?" Kimi said. "Anyone got any idea on what we're suppose to do."
"All that is here are those doors. I suppose we're suppose to do something with them." Sierra said.
"Five of them, five of us. Simply enough that we each take one." Fria said.
"Wait. Are you all sure this is a good idea? Shouldn't we have heard something?" Lita said as she had a bad feeling about this.
"What else are we suppose to do?" Kimi said. None of them were really sure on what to do. They just had to do it. Each of them picked a door and went on inside. Once they each went through one, the doors shut closed and probably their fates as well.
...
The Real World
"What happened?!" Chifuyu questioned as they noticed some sort of problem the moment all the girls dived inside the network.
"Some sort of virus activated upon the dive!" Kanzashi said.
"We can't communicate with any of them and we can't pull them out!" Yamada said. "This is bad! The system is also showing signs that their vitals are in danger! I don't understand what's happening!" This was suppose to be a routine procedure, but now five students are in great danger.
"Wait. There's some sort of message." Kanzashi said as they all gathered around to see what it was. "The only way to save them is to have Davis Motomiya come back."
...
Davis: So much for getting back to normalcy. The girls are in trouble and it looks I have to save them. I wonder what is happening to them in there. Either way, it can't be good. If something isn't done soon, there's no telling what could happen to the girls. I've got to do something.
Next Time: Fantasy Land
I hate to wake them up from their sweet dreams, but I've got to.
