Day 1 - Summer
It was summer time in National City and as she climbed the stairs to Kara's apartment, Lena regretted agreeing to meet there for lunch. There was no elevator in the building, the stairwell was just as hot as it had been outside, and she was sure the ice cream she had brought as a special treat had already melted.
When she finally knocked on Kara's door, her face was flushed and she was desperate to get inside for a glass of ice-cold water.
"Lena, come on in," Kara greeted her with a hug, which did not help Lena's body temperature, and took the bags from her.
"Why is your apartment so hot?" Lena asked as she removed her shoes.
"Is it? Sorry, I forgot the weather doesn't affect me the way it does to you guys. I can close the curtains to make it cooler if you want?"
"Please."
Kara sped over to close the curtains, they were thin enough to let enough light into the room. She returned to the kitchen area and offered Lena a drink. For the first time, Lena noticed the kitchen counters.
"Uh, Kara..." Lena gestured to the assortment of foods spread out over the surface. "What's going on?"
"Oh yeah, the electrics all cut out about ten minutes ago, must be a blackout due to the heat or something. I figured I'd use up some of the cold stuff for our lunch, just in case it doesn't come back on soon. We should probably start with the ice cream you brought."
"Why not use your super-powered breath to freeze it, and we can start with the healthier food," Lena suggested with a smile as she sat down.
"Fine," Kara rolled her eyes then poured a glass of water for Lena, thoughtfully cooling it for it.
"You're a lifesaver," Lena told her as she took a sip. "Speaking of which, shouldn't you be out checking on this blackout thing?"
"If an alien was responsible or it's something only Supergirl can fix the DEO would have called," she assured her. "Plus I'm having lunch with my girlfriend and she brought ice cream."
Lena laughed, "good to know what your priorities are."
Kara moved towards her, grabbing two plates of food that she had been preparing, "you are my priority."
She leaned down to kiss Lena once she had put the plates down. Lena tilted her head back and wrapped her arms around Kara's waist. They were only interrupted when Kara's super-hearing picked up the alert from the DEO.
"I have to go," she said, regretfully switching to her Supergirl suit.
"Hurry back."
"Of course," Kara kissed her goodbye, "save me some ice cream."
"You'll have to come back and re-freeze it soon, if you don't I might need to eat it before it melts."
"Hey!"
"I'm giving you one hour, Kara. After that..." Lena left the threat hanging in the air.
Kara waved from the window before flying off to save the day once more.
