Based on 2013 Carrie and the recent Halloween movies.
So for this story since Chamberlain takes place in Maine like most Stephen King stories I changed that detail for this story so that it can be close to Haddonfied. Just an introduction but I hope you like this early Halloween treat. Please review!
Sue and Carrie had formed a bond they thought couldn't be broken...
People thought it was strange when the Snell family took in that sheltered girl from the bad side of town, the daughter of that religious fanatic, Margaret White. Sue Snell befriended Carrie in their sophomore year after getting tired of being a bystander to her bullying especially by her then best friend Chris Hargensen. Chris was the hardest on Carrie, she told Sue she always had it coming; Sue knew Chris didn't exactly have the best home life, she figured she saw Carrie as an easy target, meek, conservatively dressed, never stood up for herself. When Sue got between them that day in the hallway after Chris shoved Carrie against the lockers, prepared to give her a slap with the back of her hand, everything changed.
Sue took time to know Carrie, she found out just how the situation with her mother was at home and convinced her family to let her live with them; Sue's friends, at least some stuck by her while others distanced themselves little by little, it was like she became a different person. Sue did have her long term boyfriend Tommy for a while but that too ended, many speculated as to why, he was one of the nicest boys at school, he wouldn't care who she hung out with.
Sue didn't want to change Carrie, she wanted to help her be herself, she didn't have any clothes that would properly fit her, they went shopping, for a while she slept in her room but her mother did up the spare room, she didn't think both girls would want to share the room for too long. Carrie did chores, she helped out with what she could, she learned what family truly was but she had this secret she was afraid of getting out.
One evening while cleaning up the kitchen with Sue, Sue dropped a glass when she was trying to stalk the high cupboard above the fridge, when she didn't hear a smash she assumed Carrie caught it but remembered she was over at the sink which was good distance away from her. When she turned she had a shock, Carrie had her hand out but the clear glass was floating in the air just about a foot off the floor, Carrie moved her hand and made sure it got back up to the shelf, Sue grabbed it instead before it got there; Carrie looked down at the floor and hid behind her hair.
"How did you do that?" Sue's entire perception of reality had shifted in less than 3 seconds.
"I don't know," Carrie said lowly, "You won't tell, will you?"
Sue shook her head, from then on she took it upon herself to protect Carrie more than she already had, she could see she was special in a way she never could be.
Sue hung out with Chris at the mall one day, no serious shopping, just the Cinnabon, they did hang out on occasion after Sue made her apologize to Carrie; it was tough still being her friend but Sue found it tougher avoiding someone she knew since kindergarten, they were just at the beginning of their senior year, graduation, chances were she might not see a lot of people from high school after this, she had plans, she was sure they all did.
"I still can't believe she lives with you. I'd be afraid of her trying to kill me in my sleep."
Sue had a clever retort to that but kept it to herself, "Well if you took the time to get to know her you'd understand."
"I don't care if she cured cancer, once a freak, always a freak. But whatever, she at least doesn't look like she grew up fucking Amish."
Sue told Carrie to meet her at the diner after Carrie was done studying at the library, it had become kind of their thing.
"You know, I saw Tommy with a girl from Haddonfield," Sue's head was in the clouds, spacing out, she thought about an incident that almost got Carrie exposed at a grocery store that week, she moved a cart with her power just to see if she could move it full but some kids saw, she was worried that any day now some men in black would show up at the house and take Carrie away. Chris waved her hand in front of her face, "Did you hear me?"
"Huh? Yeah, good for Tommy."
"Getting with a girl from Haddonfield? You know they say when kids are born there they already have a criminal record and a room in juvie? Bad enough that town is cursed..."
Sue heard these rants before, they were hardly funny or original, "Ok. Ha. Ha. All because we play against them in football doesn't mean they're the scum of the Earth, Chris."
Chris rolled her eyes, sometimes she wondered if she ever had any school spirit.
Carrie was deep in her research at one of the library computers when a pretty brunette girl pulled the chair to the computer next to her, "Sorry, was someone sitting here?"
Carrie didn't mean to stare, "No."
"Thanks."
Carrie didn't pay her much mind, she seemed nice, didn't look like she was from around there, something about the twang in her voice. Carrie found a lot of what she found online about telekinesis to be phony, she was getting bored and it was too early to meet Sue. She caught herself taking a peek at the other girl's computer, she was looking up guns and pipe bombs, the kind of stuff that would alert authorities about a possible school shooter but this girl in no way looked the type, she looked too clean, well dressed, in some ways just like Sue; the girl had good sense to know someone was staring, Carrie turned her attention back to her own monitor.
The girl wrote things down for about a half an hour or so then grabbed her backpack to go, she ended up tripping on a bump in the carpet floor, too much in a hurry. She braced herself before she fell on and made an ass out of herself but everything stopped, her face, not even her hands touched the floor; it felt like someone had lassoed her body with a long tight rope, she was pulled back up on her feet like the event was played in reverse. The girl knew there was only one other person there, she turned around quick and saw Carrie sitting there with her hands out, nothing in them, defiantly not a rope.
"Did you...How did you do that?"
"I-I don't know what you mean."
Carrie retreated out of the library, ignoring the girl calling to her, she knew Sue would kill her if she knew she used her powers out in the open again.
"Please! Wait! I want to talk to you!" The girl was fast, she caught up with Carrie easily, the messy haired blonde looked down at the sidewalk and did her best to keep moving, "I think you might be able to help me," Carrie finally stopped and looked up at her, looking her over she could see how desperate she was, on the verge of tears maybe, Please?"
Carrie hadn't talked to many other people other than Sue and a few of her friends, she always kept a low profile. Sue likely wouldn't be back yet so she sat with the girl in their usual booth. They ordered waters to start, the girl caught Carrie's name when the waitress acknowledged her, Carrie tried not to look on edge but for all she knew this girl might try and blackmail her.
"Hi, I'm Allyson. Carrie, right? Sorry, I didn't mean to chase after you like that but...gosh this is harder than I thought."
Carrie waited, she was curious what her story was, when the waitress returned with two full glass of presumably lukewarm tap water, Allyson took her glass and chugged it down, startling and impressing Carrie.
Allyson took a deep breath, "That's better. So, Carrie, I'm in a jam. See I'm from...," She looked around, most people were on the other side of the diner, "I'm from Haddonfield," Carrie had heard of the town but was oblivious to its reputation, "I think you might be able to help me out. Have you ever heard of...Michael Myers?"
Sue walked down the street, she grew tired of Chris quickly, she was trying to convince her to win Tommy back, more so wanted to find out why they broke up, for gossiping purposes because why else would she care so much. It wasn't like Sue pried much into Chris' love life, she didn't really care.
Sue walked up to the big front window of the diner, talking to Carrie was one of the best parts of the day for her. A smile seeing Carrie at their usual booth faded when she saw she wasn't alone, she was sitting with some girl with long brown hair, they were deep in conversation about something. This ticked her off, who was she? She'd never seen her in town before. Why would she be talking to her? She had to have ulterior motives than just being friendly. Someone had to tell her that was hers and Carrie's booth. She had to break this up pronto! Before she went inside, Sue noticed a weird reflection in the window, someone across the street, with a completely white face, perfectly still and not moving, when she turned around there was no one there; this was still September, too early for Halloween, she must be seeing things.
Sue got a grip and went inside to put a stop to this.
