Author's Note: Hey everyone and welcome to They Don't Know About Us! So if you want to read a cluster fuck of a fic that also happens to be Omegaverse, here you go! This is told mostly from Ace's POV but has some Shanks since Shanks plays a role in his life. I will be doing a fic of Ace and Luffy growing up that is separate from this. So a lot of changes from canon cause you know fuck canon Marineford. Plus, I'm bored and really want to write a crack fic cause I want to do another fic where Shanks is Ace's biological brother. I also have an idea of flipping Luffy and Ace's ages because why not. Note that Marineford doesn't start for a bit in this fic. Also, a lot of canon has been changed cause of Rouge's backstory and since she ends up as Shanks' mother instead of Ace. I also made shit up along the way, so hope you enjoy either way!
Additional Notes: Chapter One will be in Rouge and Shanks' perspective before it will switch to Ace's since this story will follow Ace more than it will Shanks. Shanks doesn't show up at Marineford until after Luffy but before Ace's canon death. So big difference with Ace is that he doesn't think he doesn't deserve to live because of Roger's blood in his veins. He knows he's related to Roger but knows what kind of man he actually was. None of that bullshit he was fed in canon. So, Ace will be OOC for the most part because of that. I'll try and make sure to keep the rest of him intact though! I also completely forget to add -yoi to the end of Marco's speech all the time so if you don't see it, that's why. I'm not used to remembering to put it. Just like with Law saying -ya after names. I just forget so I apologize ahead of time.
Warnings: Canon Violence, Omegaverse, Male Pregnancy, Pregnancy, Child Birth, plus more.
Chapter One: Never Grow Up (by Taylor Swift)
Chapter Summary: When Rouge set out to travel the world, she didn't expect to save an entire island from a crew of pirates, gaining the attention of Whitebeard. A few years later, she discovers she's pregnant with a rival pirate's baby. She stays on an island in the West Blue where she gives birth to her son. When he turned four, she decided to let his father take him on his ship and she returned to her own crew.
Rouge was bubbling in excitement as she prepared her little ship for her journey. She was seventeen and finally living Dawn Island for the first time. Her father, Alpha Monkey D. Garp, was currently off the island so it was the best time to leave. He couldn't stop her from going. He had told her time and time again that he didn't want her going off on the sea alone since she had been born an Omega. It wasn't like he was around much anyway, so she and her brother pretty much did what they wanted. She knew where her father was coming from. He wasn't scared of her being an Omega on the sea, he just wanted to make sure she stayed safe. Dragon was already off the island and had gone off to do his own thing. The last she heard; he was in the Grand Line. She wasn't sure where or what he was up to. All she knew was, he wasn't a pirate.
With everything ready, she unhooked her boat and waved off the villagers as she started off on her own journey. Hanging onto her orange hat with a hibiscus flower tucked into it as the wind blew around her. With a large grin, she turned to look out to the sea. The sea had so many opportunities and adventures waiting for her. Her goal was to see every island that she could. Travel the world and be free. She didn't have intentions of being a pirate but if she got labeled as one along the way, that would be fine. As long as if she was free. She hated the World Government and how they controlled. The only Marine she cared about was her father. Her Alpha brother was the same way. He was very vocal about his hatred of the World Government. Rouge just wanted to be able to do what she pleased with her life, and that's exactly what she was going to do.
Little did she know, just how much her life was going to change forever.
X
Getting to the Grand Line in her tiny boat was a lot harder than Rouge had imagined it but somehow, she made it. Her ship had taken a significant amount of damage to it from traveling Reverse Mountain and maintaining it to make sure she could even stay afloat. Unfortunately, she gained a bounty while she was in the South Blue before she decided to head to the Grand Line. Apparently being able to take on entire pirate crews by herself and free towns warranted a bounty of a hundred million berries. Having a father for a Marine who insisted learning to fight came in handy. She did not look forward to the conversation she was going to have with her father about her bounty and new pirate status. Lowkey, it was kind of insulting. She was sure if they were going to put a bounty on her head that it should have been higher than that. More often then not, she ran into pirate crews who devastated towns. She did get lucky and meet some pirates who were only in it for the adventure and freedom. One in particular caught her attention in the form of the captain of the Roger Pirates and Alpha pack leader, Gol D. Roger. He was certainly something else. It seemed to much of a coincidence that she constantly ran into the man wherever she went. The two often talking over drinks at that point. Rouge would not admit that she was gaining feelings for the man. If you asked her, she would deny it. Don't even get her started on the straw hat that he wore.
She even gained the nickname "Hibiscus Rouge" for the hibiscus flower she kept pinned in her hat. She would just wear it in her hair if it wasn't for the sun exposure. She needed protection on her head and neck. She had bought the hate as a joke originally, liking the beads and the smiley face and frowny face that were on it. It had a pendant hanging off of it of a bull's skull. It was actually a pretty cool hat and went with her curly strawberry blonde hair. She even matched her outfit to it. Her crop top shirt was black with orange strings connecting the front. Her pants were skin tight matched with an orange belt that had a hibiscus flower on the buckle. She kept a thigh pouch for quick access to medications if she needed it and a knife on her hip. Her other hip held her sword that Dragon had bought for her when she decided she wanted to travel. Her outfit was finished off with knee high black boots with matching orange strings. She did have a long-sleeved jacket that fell to her shins with a hibiscus flower on the back whenever she needed it. It had been a gift from her father. One that she absolutely loved.
She knew that in the Grand Line, she would have to gather some nakama to be able to continue on her journey. Especially if she wanted to go to the New World. Her little ship wouldn't be able to make the journey. She definitely needed a better boat at least. She could find someone to coat the ship for the trip to Fishman Island, but her ship would never make it. Between the riches she stole from pirates and what she had taken with her would be more than enough to suffice for the costs. She would admit that it wasn't as enjoyable being by herself in her travels.
It was just her luck when she got shipwrecked on an island that was under the protection of the Whitebeard Pirates. They were becoming one of the strongest crews around the Grand Line quickly. She heard that the same Roger she met back in the East Blue was Whitebeard's dualling partner. The two constantly clashing together when they met up.
It also had been just her luck that a rival of Whitebeard's decided to attack said island while she was there waiting for her new ship to be built. The pirate crew had started to ravage the village without remorse. Like hell Rouge was just going to stand by and let it happen. With her trusty sword in hand, she fought back. By the end of it, she was battered and bruised but stood tall over the crew. The captain of the crew at her feet as she heaved in an attempt to catch her breath. Not even a few moments later, exhaustion and fatigue caught up to her and she fell unconscious right then and there.
When she came too, she was surprised to find herself back in her room at the inn. She was patched up with all of her wounds tended too and covered in bandages. The Omega woman groaned as she sat up on the bed, clutching at her side. She could feel the ache running through her body with each movement. A smile came to her face despite the pain she was in. The village was safe. She wasn't going to let a crew of pirates ransack the place with all the kind people here.
Her attention was caught at the strong Alpha scent and haki approaching the door. She straightened her back despite the pain that shot up and prepared to attack. She stopped completely as a knock sounded before cracking open. Standing on the other side was Edward Newgate, the Alpha pack leader and pirate captain of the Whitebeard Pirates. Whitebeard himself. Her eyes widened at his mere size. His blonde hair falling to his shoulders and his eyes settling on her.
What caught her attention? His white crescent moon shaped mustache. Yes, mustache. No, beard. What man calls themselves Whitebeard and has no beard?!
"I'll be leaving as soon as I can. I don't mean to impose on your territory." Rouge said quickly. She really didn't feel like ending her journey so early on. She's barely been on the sea for a year. She was sure the Alpha could smell the fear that started to radiated from her. With the state she was in, it was a lot harder to hide her own scent and pheromones from releasing from her glands.
Whitebeard cackled, stepping into the room and shutting the door behind him. "It's not a problem. Actually, you have my gratitude, Hibiscus Rouge." He paused, a smile on his face as he added in, "Word on the sea is that you don't have a crew and are trying to get to the New World. How about you come join my crew?"
Rouge didn't want to admit that her jaw dropped. She was expecting something completely different, especially from the pirates she had encountered in the past. This was something else. Why was Whitebeard of all people asking her to join his crew? She was a rookie who didn't even care about being a pirate in the first place. On top of being an Omega, which was frowned upon for sailing the ocean alone. Let alone even being on a pirate crew. Yet, here he was sitting next to her with his hand extended out to her. Despite the differences in their strength and power. She gulped. Her mind racing with all possible scenarios of what could come from this with whatever decision she made. She did need a new ship and she was still alone. She hadn't had another chance to try and find some nakama. It was getting harder to travel around by herself and make it to the next destination safely. Her next heat was due at any time and without more suppressants, she was going to be vulnerable. Within Whitebeard's crew, she could travel and be protected at the same time. She smiled. In the end, she didn't even need to question it.
"Alright."
X
Traveling with Whitebeard, she noticed quickly just how family like his crew was. A lot of the nakama calling the Alpha "Oyaji". When she had questioned him about it, he told her that all he wanted in this world was a family. He didn't care about finding the One Piece or being the strongest around. It tugged at her heart strings hearing what was coming from her Captain. She saw the way he interacted with his nakama and how much respect was held among the crew. It literally was a large family. A family of all different shapes and sizes. Gender. Secondary genders. Just like anyone who needed a home or pack would find a place among Whitebeard's ranks. Whitebeard just called them "Children of the Sea", not caring where any of them came from or who they could be related too.
Unlike the others who called the Alpha "Oyaji" she fondly would call him Eddie after his real name. She was brought officially into his pack and took on the role of being a mother figure despite her age of only eighteen. She was treated as an equal to the other Omegas and even the Betas and Alphas of the crew. It wasn't often that she found a person who didn't look down on an Omega who wasn't an Omega themselves. She loved it with the crew. It was completely different from the others she had seen during her time on the sea. She even took his mark which she placed on her upper chest of a cross with his crescent mustache. If she needed to, she could always cover it up with clothes if she wanted. She was proud to be a member of Eddie's crew and was proud to show off her mark. She even allowed for him to give her a pack bond, signifying to others that she was protected underneath Whitebeard. She had quickly rose up through the ranks of the crew and became a Commander of the growing divisions.
She was with the Whitebeard pirates for about a year by the time that they ran into the Roger Pirates again. It led to a clash between both crews. Rouge happily took on Rayleigh, even if she knew she was at a loss against the Alpha, as Whitebeard clashed with Roger. The fight between her and Rayleigh looked more like a spar then anything. She had gotten to know the Roger pirates back in the Blue seas and Rayleigh she would say was a friend. By the end of it, her back was on the ground with Rayleigh standing over her with a grin.
Rayleigh had helped her off the ground as she dusted herself off. A lot of the two crews had already stopped fighting and ended up eating lunch together while Roger and Whitebeard were still fighting. Their weapons clashing in loud booms of haki covered metal. While the two Alpha captains fought it out, she sat with Rayleigh and ate her lunch. She didn't miss the way that Roger would throw glances her way and throw a smile at her. She would roll her eyes and return to her conversation with Rayleigh each time.
Eventually, the two Captains ended in a draw and they sat down for a night of drinking and partying. The two crews swapped supplies, exchanging what could be best used in wherever they would be making their next journey since the two would be going in opposite directions.
As the night progressed, members of both crews were saying their goodnights and heading off to their respective ships or camp outs to get some sleep. It left only Rouge and Roger. Roger had made his way over to the Omega, taking a seat next to her by the fire that she sat at. The two sat in silence as she drank from her bottle and him from his tankard. Roger's presence was comforting to Rouge. His scent was intoxicating. Strawberries and coffee bean. It was an odd mixture, but she loved it nonetheless. She didn't miss the way that her heart would skip a beat whenever Roger was sitting next to her. Grinning at her with a smile on his face with the straw hat balanced on his head. She paused as she looked back at him, to see just how close their faces were to each other. Before she knew it, she leaned forward and connected their lips together.
That was the first time they slept together triggering her heat and his rut early, and Rouge left with a fancy new mating bond on her neck. Thankfully, easily concealable.
X
The months passed and Rouge found herself constantly on edge. Something was off. Her own instincts were through the roof. If someone outside of the pack even went near the younger nakama, she found herself growling and standing in front of them protectively. Even though she knew they could take care of themselves. She noticed the change in her scent too. Her normal chocolate and cherry blossom scent radiated stronger around her. Almost suffocatingly so. She also noticed Eddie was getting more protective of her. Even her other nakama were strangely surrounding her at all moments.
That was until one day it all clicked for her when she started to get sick at the smell of cooking meat, namely beef, and throwing up meals that she loved before. Also, with the newfound craving of chocolate which she barely tolerated before.
She was pregnant.
She went and got confirmation from the ship's doctors and with a held breath she waited outside of Eddie's room that night. She bit her lip as she knocked on the door and heard his voice notifying her that she could come in. Opening the door, she slid in and smiled at Eddie as she closed it behind her. "Eddie, I need to talk to you." She stated. Whitebeard straightened up on his bed as Rouge took a seat on the edge of it. Her hand subconsciously falling on her stomach. "I need to leave for a while, and I'm not sure when I will be back… or if I will ever be back." The Omega didn't have to tell her pack leader what was going on for him to know.
Whitebeard gave her a large grin. Whitebeard always had an incredibly sensitive nose and was able to pick up on things long before Rouge ever could. "Take as much time as you need. My ship is always opened for you and you know that." In his eyes, she could see that he wanted to try and talk her into staying but Rouge had to make this decision.
The Omega smiled at him, tears coming to her eyes at the thought of leaving behind the people she had come to know as family. "I'll be back one day." She whispered.
Whitebeard reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder. The Alpha radiating his protecting and calming pheromones, the same ones that always helped in soothing down Rouge's own instincts. "You do what you need to do."
Rouge smiled, sighing in content as Whitebeard brought her into his arms. They stayed like that for a moment before he pulled away and reached into his drawer, pulling out a slip of paper. "This is my vivre card. Use this to come back to us." She smiled grabbing it from him and slipping it into her pocket.
Like the Alpha, she pulled out her own and gave a piece to him. "Like wise."
X
Departing from her nakama was heartbreaking, she cried as she waved to them as her boat drifted away from the Moby Dick. The entire crew were standing on the deck waving her off with their own goodbyes. To her, it looked like Whitebeard tried to stop her again, but she couldn't bring herself to stay with the crew during her pregnancy. She would only be a hindrance if they got into an altercation with another crew or the Marines. She had to go rather she genuinely wanted to or not. For her sake, her pup's, and the crew's.
Once they were out of sight, she finally sat down and placed a hand on her stomach. Roger was currently on the other half of the Grand Line from what she could remember from their last encounter, so it would be a while before she saw him again. She wondered what Roger would think of her pregnancy. She wondered if he knew. Sometimes, Alphas could tell when their mates were pregnant just through their bonds with each other. She rubbed soothing circles in her abdomen as she started to hum softly. Her pup was growing. A small smiled played on her lips at the thought. She wondered what kind of person he or she would be. What secondary gender would they be? Would they be like Roger or her? What would they look like? So many questions ran through her mind in that moment.
She smiled and looked up to the open sky. This was a good thing. A really good thing. She just hoped to one day reunite with Roger and let him know he had a pup on the way.
X
Halfway through her pregnancy she found herself in the West Blue, it was getting exceptionally harder to travel so she sat herself up on an island there. With the money she had with her, she rented a home on the island that she would use until she could leave. She just had to wait a while longer before she could return back to her crew and Eddie.
Her stomach was growing bigger as the life in her began to grow. She changed from her normal attire, deciding on wearing dresses instead for the comfortability they provided. She was thankfully on a neutral island, so she didn't have to worry about other pirates or the Marines. She had specifically chosen this place because of the safety it provided. The townspeople told her that pirates and Marines never tended to stop on the island since they had little to offer. The villagers were nice enough, telling her of the empty home that she could stay in. They even had a doctor who lived in the village who offered her services.
It was peaceful.
She had wished she could make it back to Dawn Island, but she had feared that she wouldn't make it back before her pup was born. Her little boat had drifted of course during a storm, and it took all she had to keep her boat from going under. It was safer for her to remain where she was at. Safer for her pup.
She had still yet to hear from Roger or his crew, but she had kept in contact with Eddie the best she could. Notifying him of any changes or if the need to arise for him to come to her.
She never needed it.
At one point, Dragon had showed up on the island. The Alpha surprised to find his sister there alone and pregnant. It took a lot of convincing to keep him from hunting down Roger after she told him who her pup's father was. Her stupid elder brother was overprotective of his family. Had always been for as long as she could remember. The first thought that had ran through his mind had been that Roger had used her. She cleared that up right away, refusing to hear Dragon talk about her mate in such a way. She could feel him through her bond mark. The excitement and joy that radiated through it. She knew deep down that Roger would come find her and their pup. She just had to be patient.
But right now, she had to protect her unborn pup. From her bounty and the rest of the world. The World Government didn't take too kindly to pirates having children. Often referring to them as monsters for just being born. It was one thing that Dragon was working on fixing within the world. It hadn't taken long for him to make a name of himself, becoming the leader of the Revolutionary Army and spreading his cause throughout all the seas. Rouge was damn proud of her brother for standing up in what he believed in. She had heard from him time and time again of his hatred of the World Government and the desire to change the world. If anyone could do it, it would be Dragon.
He stayed for close to a month before he had to take his leave from the island. Mostly to stay under the radar and also to keep Rouge safe. If they caught word of Dragon being on the island, it would only bring the Marines after him that wanted his head. With the tearful goodbye, the siblings parted ways. Rouge with a piece of Dragon's vivre card and him with hers. Both promising that if they were ever in need, they would be there for each other. Dragon also vowed to her that nothing would happen to her pup if he had a say. It was comforting. Her elder brother, always watching out for her.
As she was nearing the end of her pregnancy, her father finally found her. He had initially tried to use his "Fist of Love" on her when they first encountered each other but stopped almost immediately upon the change of her scent and the swell of her stomach. Tearfully, he fell to his knees and placed his cheek against her growing stomach. In spite of how hard the Alpha came off as, he was a big softie for his family at times. Babies mostly. Babies were the way to Garp's heart. After their moment, Garp was back on his feet and his face transformed back into what Rouge dubbed "Marine Bastard". Garp going on to spew the nonsense of wishing she had joined the Marines instead of becoming a pirate. She, on the other hand, defended her decision stating she wanted to be free of the rules of the government.
It was always a losing fight between the two. Garp often tried to talk "sense" into both her and Dragon. Stating he had raised them to be Marines. Yeah, "raised". More often than not, she was raised by the villagers in Foosha. Her mother, Portgas D. Shay, had died not long into her childhood. She remembered her beautiful red hair and red wine-colored eyes. Her mother was the kindest and most generous person that she ever met. She was a strong-willed Omega woman who only entered confrontation when it came to people she cared about. Other than that, she could care less. She hated conflict and fighting but would if it came down to it. Not a day went by that Rouge didn't miss her mother.
Oddly enough, seeing her father made her cry buckets of tears. Garp had called Sengoku and notified him that he wouldn't be back at Headquarters for a while before promptly hanging up without explanation. Rouge couldn't be happier at that moment. Her pup was due to arrive any day and her father was being oddly supportive. Despite when she told him who the pup's father was. He just rolled his eyes and said, "Figures."
X
The day had finally come for her pup to arrive, she could feel the slight cramps as they had started. Gradually getting stronger and closer together throughout the day before finally her water broke. The contractions began to worsen after that. Getting stronger with each one that racked her body. She was laid up as comfortably as she could be on her bed as the doctor and nurses worked around her in preparation.
True to his word, Garp was still here with her. Finally, the time had came and she was fully dilated. She breathed through each contraction as when the contraction hit, she was instructed to push for a ten count. She gripped on tightly to her father's hand, his pheromones radiating around her to keep her as calm as possible. It kept her head clear as she managed to focus on the task at hand. This continued on as she went through ten more contractions before she felt the release and the pressure stopped.
A cry ripped through the room of her pup and she took a breath of relief. Tears were in her eyes as her newborn pup was placed on her chest. She let out a cry of happiness as she lifted her hand to rub it against the pup's cheek. Garp took the honor of cutting the umbilical cord as the doctor handled the afterbirth and giving Rouge a few stitches that she needed. When she was finished, the nurses took it upon themselves to clean up the blood that was caking the inside of Rouge's thighs.
The Omega pirate could care less at what they were doing as she stared at her pup. A boy. Her sweet baby boy. A tuff of red hair decorated his head and she could see freckles dusting over his cheeks. His face had already been cleaned off and a gel rubbed over his eyes to protect him from any bacteria that might have gotten into his eyes. From the small crack of him opening his eyes, she could see the slight grey color to them. In a few months, she would know what his eye color was going to be for the rest of his life. She continued to look him over, using a small rag to clean off the fluids from his body. Once she was finished, she wrapped him up in a blanket. She already knew quickly that her pup would need to be checked over but for now, just captivating in the moment of him being in her arms. She wanted to cry with how much he looked like her deceased mother. Just looking at him, she knew what his name was going to be.
Garp pushed her bangs back out of her face as she leaned against the pillows, running his fingers through her hair. "What are you going to name him?"
Rouge gave a tired smile. Fifteen hours of labor and twenty minutes of pushing and her pup was finally here. "His name is… Gol D. Shanks."
X
She stayed on the island for four years, watching as her pup started to grow into a beautiful young boy. His red hair growing shaggy on his head. His eyes ended up gaining a greyish-black color with a slight mixture of red if you looked close enough. It reminded her of storm clouds. His freckles never went away but would look concealed if her son stayed in the son for a long period of time.
He was such a happy child. Finding joy in everything. She did constantly see him looking out to sea, just like she had done for years when growing up. Seems like her and Roger's love of the sea passed on to their pup. He had grown into his scent and Rouge loved it. He smelled like cherry blossoms and strawberries. A perfect mixture of hers and Roger's. She also noticed quickly that her son was an Omega. Between his mannerism and instincts, it was clear as day.
Around the time of Shanks' fourth birthday, Roger finally made it to the island. He had apologized profusely to her for not being able to get to her sooner. Having run into trouble on more than one occasion as he traveled. Rouge had kept up with his adventures in the paper, reading them and retelling his adventures to Shanks whenever she could. She also told him of Eddie and her own crew as well as her own adventures.
Shanks had proudly exclaimed that he would be a pirate one day. She snickered at the thought on her father's face had he heard that come from his grandson's mouth.
The moment that Roger and Shanks met for the first time would be forever burned into her mind. Shanks didn't need to see a picture of him or be told for him to recognize his father. Rather it was by the blood bond or his scent, Shanks was instantly in his arms. Roger cried as he cradled his pup in his arms. His straw hat hiding his face from Rouge's sight. She didn't need to see it to know he was grinning. That same large grin that was always on Roger's face. As they were in their embrace, Rouge whispered, "His name is Gol D. Shanks."
When he pulled away, he pulled his hat off of his head and placed it directly on Shanks' head. "Keep this safe for me, will you?" Roger said to him. Shanks gave his father a toothy smile and a nod. "Why don't you go play for a little bit? My crew is outside and I'm sure they would love to see you. I need to talk to your mom for a moment." Shanks looked over his shoulder to Rouge, who in turn nodded her approval before he grinned and was out the door. Leaving only Roger and Rouge in the house. Roger always seemed to read her like an open book since as soon as the door closed, he said, "You want to return to them don't you?"
Rouge chuckled but nodded. "Yeah, I do. I miss my nakama. I've been gone for over four years. I sure do miss them. I've read about them but it's not the same."
Roger smiled as he leaned against the kitchen counter. "You know, you can always go back to them. You know Eddie wouldn't let anything happen to Shanks."
A smile came to Rouge's face at the thought of Eddie and how he would react with Shanks on board of the Moby Dick. He would be over the moon. Though, that would be unfair of her. Not for her crew… but for Roger. He already missed four years of his son's life. "I don't know."
Roger sighed, stepping forward and placing his hands on Rouge's biceps. "Rouge, if you want to go back, go. It will be okay."
The Omega shook her head. "It's not that…" She whispered, looking out the window to see Rayleigh throwing Shanks up in the air. His little body shaking with laughter and the smile only getting bigger. Rayleigh was the only person within Roger's crew that they told who Shanks' father was. The others, Rouge could only guess, thought he was just a boy from the Island. None of them with the exception of Rayleigh knew about the bond between Rouge and Roger anyway. It was better like that. She was a Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and he was a Captain in his own right. She sighed as she added, "I want him to have you in his life."
The silence fell among them for a moment before another grin came to Roger's face. "How about I take him on my ship as an apprentice for a while. Me and Eddie duel a lot so whenever that happens, we can switch. I have him for a little bit, then you do."
The thought ran through Rouge's head. The thought of being separated from her son tore at her heartstrings, but she did want to return back to her crew. It's been so long since she's seen them, and her pack bond was aching for them. On the other hand, it was a good proposition. Shanks would have his father in his life. She could theoretically join the Roger Pirates, but she was a Whitebeard pirate through and through. The mark still decorating her chest in purple ink.
She had been so lost in thought that she didn't even hear Shanks reenter the home and had been standing behind them the entire time. "Mommy, I would be okay! I would be with daddy and Uncle Rayleigh!" Shanks exclaimed, bringing her out of her thoughts.
She turned to face him and gave him a gentle smile. "Shanks, sweetheart…"
Shanks walked forward, reaching up and clutching onto her pants with his fists. "I promise to be on my best behavior! You want to go back to Papa Eddie, don't you! I'll get to meet them one day! I want you to be happy, mommy!"
Rouge felt the tears prickle her eyes as she kneeled down in front of her pup. "Shanks, you make me happy."
Shanks just grinned at her. "They are your pack too! I'll be okay! We'll see each other soon wouldn't we?"
Rouge sighed but smiled anyway. "Alright. I promise you, if you need me, I will be there." She reached behind her neck to unclasp a hibiscus pendant necklace that she wore before reaching around her son's neck and reclasping it. "Take this. I'm always with you."
Shanks gave her a teary smile as his fingertips touched the pendant. "I love you, mommy."
The Omega woman brought her son into her arms. "I love you too, Shanks."
X
With it decided, Rouge watched tearfully as Shanks departed the island with his father. Her Omega son sitting on Roger's shoulder as he waved back at her with promises to see her again. She waved them off with her own belongings already packed away in her boat. She already contacted Eddie to notify him she was on her way. They were going to meet up at Arabasta in the Grand Line since it was the perfect middle point for all of them.
With her favorite outfit on and hat on top of her head, she waved off the villagers she had gotten to know over the last four years and set back out on her journey. She wondered just how long it would be before she saw her mate and son again. Her thoughts venturing the Shanks more often than not. This had been the first time they had ever been away from each other for a long period of time. She was sure with Roger by his side, he would adjust quickly. Probably have the excitement of being on a pirate ship to distract him for a while before Roger would need to worry about anything.
Thankfully, her trip was a lot quicker than it had been before. At least it felt like it was quicker. She summed it down to her excitement of seeing her nakama again. She was curious to know just how much more the crew had grown. They had constantly been getting new nakama due to Eddie's forcible acquisition of most of them or even their own exclamations of loyalty to the man. Last she heard, they were a lot larger than the Roger pirates, gaining divisions that each had their own Commanders. When she was aboard, she was one of three Commanders but weren't above a division.
She cried when she finally laid eyes on them again in Arabasta. The Moby Dick already waiting for her as her boat pulled up next to it. Her nakama cheered her arrival as she climbed up onto the ship. Immediately multiple people were glued to her side as she made her way through the crew before standing before Eddie. He opened his arms up and she immediately moved into his embrace.
She sure missed her crew.

Like promised, she saw her son often. She was positive Roger was seeking out Whitebeard at any chance he got during his journey of seeing the islands of the Grand Line, just so she could see Shanks. How neither of their crews managed to realize Shanks was her son, she would never know. In their defense, she didn't exactly tell them but having the boy practically glued to her after their duals should be hint enough. She wasn't necessarily keeping him a secret. She did notice the way that Shanks referred to his father as Captain but didn't say anything to him. If Shanks wanted to call Roger, Captain she would let him.
She never did take Shanks with her onto Whitebeard's ship, instead letting him stay on the Oro Jackson. Her son was enjoying his time on the ship and sparked up a love-hate friendship with an Alpha boy named Buggy. A boy who Roger picked up on his way back to the Grand Line. The Whitebeard Pirates had gained a crew young Alphas along the way in the form of Marco, Jozu, Vista, Thatch, Teach, and Rakuyo.
The years started to pass as both crews took their places at the top of the pirate world. The kids were growing up into fine young men. The Whitebeard Pirates had gained Kozuki Oden who took the place as the Second Division Commander, which had previously belonged to Rouge and Rouge took control of another Division for the time being. Marco, who was now fifteen, took over as the First Division Commander. They had gained Izou along with Oden when they were in Wano. They had ran into the Roger Pirates again on the island and fought the crew for three days and three nights straight before partying followed quickly after.
Rouge wanted to cry at seeing how strong her son was getting. Even being only ten, he was holding his own against grown men. She knew she had made the right choice in letting Shanks remain on the Oro Jackson full time instead of taking him away, even if it did make her heart hurt whenever they departed. She was sure Eddie had his suspicions, but the Alpha never did say a word about it to her.
A year later, Oden left the crew on good terms to travel with Roger in the New World and to get to the remaining islands in the uncharted waters. She had taken back her position as the Second Division Commander following his departure and Izou took over the Sixteenth Division.
After that, she didn't see Roger or Shanks for the next few years.

Roger and his crew had done it. They had made it to Laugh Tale and found Joy Boy's treasure One Piece. He became King of the Pirates.
That's when everything started to go downhill. She knew the last time she had seen Roger that he had been keeping something from her. So, when they met again following his rise as the Pirate King, she found out he was terminally ill.
Rouge was pissed. Beyond pissed. Absolutely fucking livid.
Roger had quietly disbanded his crew, choosing to spend a final year with Shanks and Rouge before he would be turning himself into the Marines. He had departed the Oro Jackson with Shanks when Rouge met up with him for the last time. Taking a temporary leave from her duties as Commander for the time being.
Shanks was fast asleep in one of the rooms of the small house they were staying in when Rouge decided to approach her mate. A conversation she was dreading to have since the second Roger told her about his illness. She was not prepared for this moment. She never would be.
"Does he know?" Rouge questioned, leaning against the nearby counter as she looked down at her feet. Her hat shielding her eyes. She wanted to explode in the anger that she was feeling, but at the same time she was crushed knowing that she had so little time left with her beloved.
Roger caught on to what she was referring to instantly and nodded. "Yeah, he does. I've had it for over three years now. I have maybe a year left." The Alpha told her.
Rouge nodded, tears in her eyes at the thought of losing her mate. "So, instead you're going to turn yourself in."
Roger smirked at her. Rouge knew that look. He had something planned. "I want to go on my own terms. Shanks knows that. He has you. He'll be fine."
Rouge smiled as she thought of her son. She had missed out on so much time, but her sacrifice gave Roger time with his son. So much precious time that he wouldn't have been able to have if she didn't make the decision she did. "Yeah. Just makes me thankful that I let him spend so much time with you. He'll remember it all." Rouge whispered.
The Alpha held a grin on his face as he moved across the room to stand next to his Omega mate. Roger leaned forward, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "I will be forever grateful for the last ten years you've given me with him." He paused, pulling away to look her in the eye. "I love you, Portgas D. Rouge. Protect our child. From now on, he'll have a target on his back for being my son."
Rouge smiled back. "Nothing will happen to him." She said, "I love you, Gol D. Roger."

True to his word, Roger turned himself into the Marines after the one year he spent with them. The World Government announced that they had taken down the Roger Pirates and captured the Pirate King. Despite Rouge knowing that wasn't the truth. To hell with it, they could make whatever narrative they wanted as long as if they didn't know about Shanks. Rumors had started to spread about the possibility that he had fathered a child in his final year of freedom. Rouge almost wanted to laugh at their attempts of trying to find a baby that didn't exist. Their child was already fourteen about to turn fifteen, long since born before their attempts of finding his child. They had started on Baterilla located in the South Blue. An island that Roger had decided to buy a house on for her and Shanks to stay in if they ever wanted to take a vacation somewhere. They were searching relentlessly for a baby to no avail.
The day had finally came for Roger's execution. It was slated to take place in Loguetown. The place of his birth and soon to be place of his death. Rouge found herself standing behind Shanks in the courtyard in front of the scaffold. Watching as her mate walked his way up the steps. A large grin on his face as he walked towards his death. He didn't even have to be guided. When he made it to the top, he turned on his heel and sat down with his legs crossed.
She could smell the distress coming off of her son in waves. She released calming pheromones to counteract it as much as she could through her own grief. She was about to watch her mate die before her eyes and there was nothing she could do. Even if he didn't die in that moment, he only had a few more months before his illness would take him. Roger was dying rather any of them liked it or not.
Her eyes were glued to the Alpha as he smiled down at them. Looking straight at her and their pup. Shanks was already crying, clutching onto his straw hat as he bit his lip to keep his crying silent.
Before the execution could continue, a bystander called out to Roger, demanding to know about the One Piece and his treasure. Roger had hidden his treasure before turning himself in, which Rouge knew. He only kept enough to support Shanks until he was on his feet and for the home on Baterilla.
The smirk on Roger's face was the same as that night when the Alpha left the Oro Jackson. A smile came to Rouge's face. That little shit. You knew this was going to happen. Didn't you? The tears fell down her face as she looked at her mate. His eyes had still never left her or Shanks.
"If you want my treasure, you can have it. I left everything I gathered together all in one place. Now, you just have to find it." Roger exclaimed.
Before he could say anything else, his executioners both struck the Alpha with their blades. Effectively ending his life. A smile still on his face as the light left his eyes. Stunned silence followed before thunder clashed above them and the downpour started. Shanks was crying in front of her, his body shaking with each sob that left him. She reached out enough to pull him back into her. The Omega clutching onto her arm like his own life depended on it. She couldn't hold back her own tears anymore as she leaned her head down against her son's hat. Just taking the moment together to grieve.
Despite her own pain of seeing her mate die in front of her eyes, the thought that ran through her head was, He knew what he was doing. He just started an era.

Following Roger's execution, Rouge returned back to her position with the Whitebeard Pirates and continued on the seas. Her pain of losing Roger now turned into their shared love of freedom and being on the ocean.
From what she could tell, her son was safe, and the Marines had called off their search for a child. She could breathe properly again. She still felt the pain in her bond mark at the loss of her mate. Her heart crying for him. She didn't spend near enough time with him as she would have liked too, but their shared love brought them Shanks.
Shanks had eventually gotten his own ship, which he had named the Red Force and started to fly his own jolly roger on it. From what she knew, he had already gathered quite a few nakama of his own at the age of sixteen. He was doing well for himself. She was glad. From what she heard people saying about a possible child of Roger, she really hoped he didn't take any of it to heart. Her son with a heart of gold. A boy who didn't like to fight unless someone he cared about was endangered or messed with. It reminded her a lot of her own mother. Shanks was just like her. He would do perfectly fine. She knew that much.
She had encountered her son once since then when his crew came in contact with her nakama. A fight had quickly broke out much to her dismay after an insult had been thrown at Shanks by Teach. His nakama jumping in to protect and defend their Captain. Shanks had tried to get them to calm down, stating that it was okay, but had ultimately fallen to deaf ears when he clashed with Teach. All within the act of self defense. If he hadn't acted, Teach would have struck him with the bladed claw. She could smell Teach's pheromones from where she stood as she tried to order him back but it was in vain. His pheromones were spreading through the air quickly over to Shanks, trying to get the red head to submit to him. Though, Shanks was standing his ground. Completely unaffected by Teach.
Rouge could only watch in horror as Teach's three-bladed glove made contact with Shanks' left eye. His hand flying up to cover the wound as he collided with the ground. From his body language, she knew his guard had been up and Teach still managed to break through that. Teach loomed over her son with his fingers trailing across the exposed skin of his chest and hip. The look in his eye sent chills down Rouge's own spine. The Alpha male standing over her son as he prepared to strike again. She couldn't hear what he was saying to Shanks but the look that came to Shanks' face said it all. Rouge could feel her instincts wailing to run to her son. Teach was pushed away from Shanks by Yasopp and Lucky Roux. The two Beta men standing between Shanks and Teach. Fangs showing and growls escaping them as they shielded their Captain. His first mate, Benn Beckman, running to his aid. Her son who was now being held by his first mate. Each gasp of pain that came from Shanks only worked to trigger her more before she was lost in her own mind.
If it hadn't been for the entirety of the Commanders, she would have ripped apart Teach limb by limb. She could feel the burn in her eye, her canines extending slightly, and her nails sharpening. All signs that she was heading straight into a frenzy. Whitebeard had one rule on his ship and she was so close to breaking it. She hated that look in Teach's eye. The way he tried to gauge Shanks' eye out. His fingers running over his skin as if the Omega belonged to him. Whitebeard had ordered his nakama back as Benn carried Shanks off towards the Red Force with their doctor in tow.
Rouge remained glued in her spot. Marco and Thatch both clinging to her arms in attempts to pin her in her rage. Izou and Vista had taken to holding her chest. She couldn't make out her own words that were coming from her mouth but Teach had been pulled away quickly by her subordinates before she could make it to him.
He was damn lucky she couldn't move.
Once they had managed to calm her enough, she had boarded the Red Force to check on her son. The Omega sitting on his bed in the infirmary with a new bandage over his eye. Blood splotching his white button up shirt. His red stash he wore around his hips was sitting next to him and his sandals thrown on the floor. His straw hat sitting on the table next to the bed. She made her way across the room, dropping onto the bed and bringing her son into her arms. Shanks melted into her almost immediately, his head resting on her shoulder. With Shanks right in her arms, she could feel herself calming by the second. Taking in her son's sweet scent as she ran her fingers through his red colored hair. He was still barely sixteen years old at this point. A strong pirate in his own right with his own equally as strong crew. He could take care of himself, but he was still her baby boy.
Thankfully, Teach's attack had only gotten the skin and hadn't made contact with his actual eye. Though his handsome face would be scarred, she was just relieved it wasn't worse. She always had a bad feeling about Teach since the moment he joined the crew. She couldn't place it and it wasn't enough to say anything to Eddie. She kept it on the back burner. For now, she had to trust Eddie's judgement. She could sum it down to her own Omega instincts screaming at her for the Alpha hurting her pup. She just hoped with everything that she wasn't dead wrong.
After a few hours and with Shanks now fast asleep, she slipped out with her own hat pulled over her eyes as she said a quick goodbye to her son's crew before departing from the ship. Returning back to the Moby Dick shortly after. She was greeted immediately by Marco and Thatch, but she ignored them as she stormed past them and towards her Commander's quarters. The last thing she wanted to do was enter another frenzy just by looking at the man. She doubted they could stop her again. She had so much anger bubbling in her at that moment. She paused as she heard Teach's voice gloating about injuring the Red Haired Pirate. With her fist balled, she marched up to him and with a haki covered hand, back handed him across the mouth. Without saying a word, she glared at him before stomping away. As much as she wanted to say Shanks was her son, she couldn't now. Not with her connection to Roger. She would only put him into unnecessary risk if the wrong person heard her. She trusted her crew but the unsettling feeling never left when it came to Teach. In the concealment of her room, she slipped her hat off and all but flopped onto her bed to stare at the ceiling. She would deal with repercussions or questions later. She was exhausted.

She hadn't seen her son again for a few months until one day that it was announced the Red Force was approaching the Moby Dick. Rouge and the rest of the Commanders came out of the meeting room with Whitebeard right behind them. The other Commanders were questioning the impromptu visit while Marco and Rouge were the only ones who stayed silent. There were now sixteen Commanders in total reigning over Whitebeard's divisions. Looking at her fellow Commanders, she couldn't help the feeling that came to her chest.
The Red Force wasn't completely by the Moby Dick when Rouge caught a whiff of Shanks' distressed scent. It immediately sent her Omega into a panic. Shanks had only given off that scent once before and it had been when Roger was executed. Something major was going on. She could feel that in her gut.
She walked down the rest of the way to the deck, not caring as she gained looks from the others. She was the first over to the side of the ship as the Red Force pulled up next to them and dropped their anchor. Her gaze fell on Shanks. Seeing him standing on the deck surrounded by his crew. She noticed their change in behavior almost immediately. Benn's especially. They were standing guard around him.
Shanks wasn't looking at anyone, rather at the wood underneath his feet from what she could tell. With his eyes concealed by the straw hat, it was hard to tell. "Permission to board, Whitebeard-san?" Shanks questioned. Rouge caught on to the hoarse voice coming from her son.
"Of course, brat." Whitebeard replied.
The gangplank was thrown across and unlike whenever they would encounter Shanks, he wasn't using his haki like normal. Instead, he made a beeline straight for Rouge. Rouge threw her arms around his shoulders, bringing him close to her and inhaling his scent. He didn't have to tell her what was going on for her to know. It was clear as day once you inhaled his scent enough. It had changed. Became sweeter. His crew surrounding him in a way of protection.
She pulled away, placing her hands on either side of his face with a smile. Their silent communication telling her just what she needed to know. Her son was terrified.
"It's okay, Shanks." Rouge whispered. She pulled away enough to look at her Captain and crew with a smile of her own. "We're going to my room. Do not disturb us unless it's absolutely necessary."
Without another word, she grabbed Shanks' hand and lead the Omega male to her quarters. Once the door was shut, he broke down in front of her and fell to his knees. "I'm sorry for coming here but I didn't know what else to do."
Rouge made a noise in her throat, kneeling down so their eyes were level with one another. "You know you can find me at any time, Shanks." She whispered. "Who's is it?"
Shanks still wasn't looking at her but rather his hands that were bunched up. "Hawkeyes… Dracule Mihawk." He whispered. "What if he doesn't want them?"
Rouge gave her son a sad smile as she fully sat onto the floor, letting Shanks lean into her. His hands had moved from the floor to the jacket she had been wearing, balling his fists into the fabric. "You don't know that sweetheart. All you have to do is tell him. He may surprise you."
Shanks sniffled, rubbing at his eyes. "He just sees me as a dualling partner." His grip got tighter on his mother. "I didn't mean for this to happen."
Rouge giggled, pulling Shanks' hat off of his head so she could run her fingers through his soft hair. "You weren't exactly planned either, but you are the light of my life." She said.
Shanks let out a wet laugh as he finally looked up to his mother. "That's different. You and dad… you loved each other."
Rouge gave Shanks a look. "Don't you love Hawkeyes?"
Shanks' face turned almost as red as his hair, concealing his freckles in the redden mess. "I-I… um… yeah." He stuttered.
Rouge chuckled. "You said he was your dualling partner?" Shanks nodded. "Well, he might be seeking you out just to see you. You never know. All you can do is tell him and rather if he wants to be in your pup's life or not. You have me and your nakama by your side. You are not alone." She stated.
Shanks sighed, leaning back on his heels as he looked away from Rouge. "He did accept my vivre card… and he gave me his." He muttered. Rouge smiled, taking a look at her son. A necklace dangling around his neck caught her attention. It was next to the one she gave him, but she knew what that symbol meant. It was a very traditional symbol that she hadn't seen since her own mother passed away. They were customized to the Beta or Omega it was given too. The one Shanks was wearing two swords clashing with a cherry blossom flower over it. Cherry blossom was one of Shanks' main scent factors and the swords were shaped like Shanks' own Gryphon and Mihawk's Black Sword Yoru. Roger had given her one before. Oddly enough, it was the same necklace she had given Shanks when he joined Roger on the Oro Jackson.
"Oh Shanks… you idiot." Rouge whispered, gaining a look of shock from Shanks. "That necklace you're wearing. Do you know what that means?"
Shanks gave her a confused look. "No? But Mihawk gave it to me."
Rouge let out a hearty laugh, throwing her head back as she shook her head. "Honey, it's a promise necklace. Traditionally, Alphas give it to someone they plan on courting and eventually mating with. I didn't realize Hawkeyes was so traditional." She paused, reaching out and touching the hibiscus necklace around Shanks' neck. "This necklace, Roger gave it to me. It was his promise to me. Just like this one is Hawkeyes' promise to you. I'm sure he will be happy with all of this. You just need to tell him." Shanks just smiled at her, but her eyes narrowed as she noticed a change in his demeanor. His eyes were starting to droop and body slacking before he fell forward. His face falling directly into her lap. "Shanks?!"
When he didn't answer her back, she pulled off her coat and folded it underneath his head. Slipping out from under him before standing up and rushing out the door. Her heart beating against her chest as she rushed out to the deck. "Marco! C'mere!" She exclaimed. She knew she sounded frantic and her eyes wide. Benn seemed to have a knowing look on his face as he looked to Marco, who he had been talking too. Marco nodded and started off after Rouge as they ran back towards her room.
The blonde Alpha kneeled down next to Shanks as soon as they entered and Benn standing at the door after following them there. Marco placed his hand to Shanks' forehead, using his other hand to check his pulse. "Has he eaten today-yoi?"
Benn nodded. "Yeah, this has been happening a lot lately."
Marco hummed, carefully scooping Shanks up and placing him onto Rouge's bed. He took a few moments to check him over, asking Benn a few questions as Rouge stood off to the side biting her nails. With a small noise, he turned back to the two, "His blood pressure spiked, and his blood sugar might have dropped. I'm not going to ask any questions on what's going on with him but he seems to be fine. Your doctor should be able to handle what is going on with him. Right now just some rest and food will do him good." Rouge was thankful Marco wasn't asking questions. She really didn't want to have to explain the complex situation she and Shanks were both in. It was best left unsaid especially since Shanks wouldn't be on the Moby Dick much longer.
Rouge took in a deep breath; this pregnancy was going to be rough on Shanks if this was already something constant and being on the sea wasn't going to do him any good. She paused as she thought for a moment. They had a home on Baterilla. Shanks wasn't going to be safe on the sea if his pregnancy was going to be high risk. He needed more stability. The Red-Hair Pirates were quickly gaining notoriety and becoming a huge influence, as well as targets of the Marines. Once Shanks woke up, she was going to give him a proposal. She was beyond worried. Benn didn't seem to be doing much better either. They needed to contact Mihawk as soon as possible and get Shanks to a safe location.
They were currently on the Grand Line and could probably make it to Baterilla within a few months if they left immediately. It would be the safest place for Shanks and his pup.
X
After Shanks had came too and speaking with him about her thoughts. He shockingly agreed quickly. The exhaustion was even more clear on his face as they spoke. The fear was still laced in his voice and Rouge knew in that moment she couldn't leave her son's side. She hated what she had to do to her crew once more, but she did hope that they would understand. Her son needed her now.
Speaking with Eddie and explaining that she needed to leave and that she was officially resigning as the Second Division Commander. She left with Shanks on the Red Force. Her nakama shed tears as they waved her off and she made a promise to see them again one day. She would play the future by ear from this point on.
The morning sickness started quickly after they left. The pregnant Omega at most of the times leaning over the railing of the ship to release all the contents of his stomach. Rouge cared for him through it all, giving pointers to Shanks' doctor as he would be fully prepared. His doctor had admitted that he never worked with pregnancies but knew enough that he could deliver a pup. Shanks was getting more exhausted by the day, on others having a random burst of energy as he started to nest.
They had arrived at Baterilla within two months of Rouge parting from the Moby Dick. It had only taken a few weeks following that for Mihawk to show up at the island. The Alpha was latched to his Omega's side since then. Once Shanks told him of his pregnancy, watching as the Alpha's face lit up had been a memory all on its own. The Alpha barely leaving his side except for taking either some personal time or to fetch something for Shanks.
Rouge stayed by her son's side, caring for him and helping him through the roughest parts of his pregnancy. He still had fainting spells, but they were able to get them under control. Shanks, Mihawk, and Rouge all stayed in the house. The Red-Hair Pirates staying on the ship that was docked at the bottom of the hill. Every day the entire crew came to the house to help Shanks with whatever he needed and only returning to the ship after Shanks fell asleep for the night.
Rouge stayed on standby, ready for any moment that Shanks needed her. She was the only one there with experience for a pregnancy and she was glad she was there for him. When the day finally arrived, her heart had almost stopped when Shanks gave a blood curling scream. He had already been having steady contractions throughout the day and they knew he was in labor. He had been walking around, allowing it to help sooth the pain he was in. Mihawk had always been in step with him, letting the Omega grip onto him.
Gripping at his swollen stomach as he collapsed to his knees. In an instant his crew was circled around him with Mihawk already scooping him up. Saying calming words and sweet nothings. Shanks never replied but only started muttering that something was wrong. Rouge was quick to instruct them into the guest bedroom that they had set up for the delivery. His doctor right next to her as Yasopp and Benn assisted them. Rouge threw a blanket over Shanks' lap, giving him privacy as the doctor worked his pants off only to stop short.
Rouge leaned over, cursing as she saw the blood pooling around Shanks' thighs. "Damnit… the placenta must of abrupted." She stated. The doctor nodded, confirming that was indeed the case using a snail that worked for ultrasounds.
"You can do this, Shanks." Mihawk whispered. Without a second thought, Mihawk climbed onto the bed behind Shanks' back, letting the Omega lean into him and grabbed both of his hands into his own.
"God, it fucking hurts." Shanks exclaimed, head thrown back onto Mihawk's shoulder.
"I know, love." Mihawk muttered, pressing a kiss into Shanks' forehead. Shanks winced as his doctor checked for his dilation and confirmed that he was indeed ready to push. Also telling them they needed to act quickly because the pup was distress from the abruption.
Yasopp and Benn each took one of the Omega's legs in their arm, helping prop them up as Shanks was already using all his strength at the moment. His skin turning pale from the rapid blood loss. Rouge worked on getting a bag of blood hung for a transfusion as the doctor instructed Shanks on what to do. With the bag hung, she quickly inserted the needle into his arm.
With the next contraction, the Omega gritted his teeth as he bared down, pushing for the ten count. He let out a gasp as he fell back into Mihawk. Mihawk continuing to whisper to him, his pheromones and scent radiating through the room to keep Shanks as calm as possible. The cycle continued on as she watched Shanks get weaker by the second. The blood loss getting to his body as the stress continued from labor.
It took an hour of pushing before finally the small wail filled the room as Shanks fell back into Mihawk once more with a relieved sigh. His chest heaving as he caught his breath. Rouge cleaned the pup off, tears of happiness in her eyes as she wrapped the pup up. "It's a boy, Shanks." She muttered, handing him over to his parents.
The pup cried as he was laid on Shanks' chest. The red head immediately cradling the pup to him as his face cracked a smile and tears falling out of his eyes. Mihawk was smiling down at their newborn pup, hand reaching out to rub his knuckle across the pinkened cheek.
"Ace…" Shanks muttered, the exhaustion clear in his voice. "His name is Gol D. Ace."
Mihawk hummed, "Our little boy. You did so well, Shanks." The Alpha stated, placing a chaste kiss into Shanks' temple. The two had a quiet moment together before they allowed the doctor to take Ace for the moment to check him over. Taking all the information he needed, he passed the pup back over to his parents before returning back to working on Shanks.
The doctor pulled away from Shanks, the bowl in front of him from the afterbirth. "I'm done here for now. I'll come back and check on you in a little bit." He stated, taking his exit. Yasopp and Benn both gave their quiet exits as the couple were lost in their own world with Ace secured safely in their arms. Rouge smiled as she stepped out, closing the door behind her.

For the next six weeks, they remained on Baterilla as Shanks recovered. Mihawk stayed with them the entire time before he was forced to return back to his duties as a Warlord. With a tearful farewell, Mihawk said goodbye to his new mate and their pup before heading back off towards the Grand Line. The Red-Hair pirates were preparing to leave for themselves to head back to the New World. Shanks giving his mother assurances that him and Ace would both be fine and would come visit often.
Rouge only could smile as she admitted to Shanks that she would be moving back home. She hadn't told him she had officially resigned from her post as Division Commander and ultimately the crew in general. She pulled her son into an embrace before pulling away and placing a kiss to his forehead. Giving Ace a kiss on the top of his head before she watched as the two boarded the ship.
She watched with the smile on her face as the Red Force disappeared over the horizon as she turned back to the small home. She sighed; her life of piracy was over. At least for now. She couldn't place it, but something in her gut was telling her to return back to Foosha. She always was one to trust her instincts, so this time she was going to listen.
With some money she had saved up, she bought a small boat that she filled with her own supplies and started back for her hometown. Despite her heart aching for the Whitebeard pirates and the want to remain next to Shanks, she had her own thing left to do. With a den den mushi, she contacted the Moby Dick to notify Eddie that she wouldn't be returning back to the crew this time around. Explaining the gut feeling she was having about her home island. Eddie just laughed and told her to do what she needed to do, that the Moby Dick would always be her home if she chose to return back to it. With a goodbye, she hung up and set back out to sea.
She arrived back home only a month later, her fellow villagers welcoming her back with open arms. She smiled as she turned to look back out to the sea. For now, this is where she belonged. Once she figured out the reason her Omega was telling her to return home. Until then, she was going to stay right here on Dawn Island.
Author's Note: So originally, this was supposed to have both Rouge and Shanks' backstories and so the birth of Luffy but this reached over 12k+ of just Rouge soooo yeah, Shanks will be chapter two. Main fic will start about chapter five cause I'm going to do an Ace chapter of him leaving the Red Force and eventually ending up with Whitebeard and leading to Marineford. Chapter three will be Ace and Chapter Four is of Luffy. The crackest of it will start in Chapter Five when they are at Marineford. Anyway, hope you enjoyed!
