While Sirius was sitting in the Griffindor common room with his friends, Lily Evans walked over.
"Sirius, I dare you...' she started
"Sirius isn't allowed to do dares!" Interupted Remus.
"What, Why?"asked Lily
"Apparently, I have no regard for my personal safety... Which is so untrue!" replied Sirius rolling his eyes.
James piped in, " uhh remember that time..."
"James!" Sirius exclaimed.
" How about when you..." James infered.
" You're supposed to be on my side!" Sirius exclaimed loudly.
"I am on your side, Padfoot." James replied calmly.
" Yes, we are on your side. We are trying to keep you alive. You don't make it easy though." Remus remarked.
Lily was confused, but kept watching anyway. she thought it was a bit amusing.
" You do things a bit crazy and recklessly without being dared to Sirius. If we let people start daring you... well either you or the castle might be gone in a week." Peter joked.
"At least let me hear the dare first." Sirius pouted.
All at once the four friends turned to Lily. She jumped a little, not expecting to be the center of attention so quickly.
"Well, I um wanted to dare you to spend a week being nice to Severus." Lily said brokenly.
"Why?" all four of the boys asked pitifully.
"He is my friend, and he had a rough summer." Lily replied with a huff.
"My home life is rough too, but Snivelus is such a pillock." Sirius responded lowly.
James gave him a pat on his shoulder.
"His name is Severus, And I wanted you to try and help him by keeping him away from that wanker Malfoy and his butt buddies. I think they were the ones who hexed Marlene last week. If Alice hadn't Interupted them I would shudder to think what would've happened." she explained sadly. "I don't want to lose my first friend."
"Okay, but what's in it for us?' asked Peter with a sneer.
"Severus said that Malfoy was staring at your cousin lately." Lily said in a whisper.
"They always stare at Bellatrix. She is trying to become the darkest of them all." Sirius said with a glare.
"Not that cousin, the Youngest one. I know the middle one avoids them like the plague." Lily replied with venom. "I heard the Lestranges are going for Bellatrix. They are going to ask for a contract from your uncle."
"They have to ask the family head, Arcturus." James responded on autopilot.
"How do you know about that?" Lily asked with confusion.
"I know I act like a fool around you, sweet Evans, but my mother taught me the traditions and manners and such." James said softly. "We just don't act like Malfoy."
"They made it sound like they were going to all go together and get her father to sign them all at once." Lily replied with a huff.
"But, my grandfather is head of the family." Sirius replied with a huff.
"...Um Sirius, Have you ever told your grandfather how they are at school? Or have you just said they were stuck up prats? Because if they seem like proper member of the pure blood society... he might not disagree with the matches if they bring him finished signed contracts." Remus said with a bit of fear.
Sirius replied. "Well, I am supposed to be the heir, but I Hate the way my mother just adores Voldemort..."
"Don't say his name!" whimpered Peter.
"And his method of leading this revolution of putting all the muggle and mudblood scum in their place." finished Sirius.
"Sirius! Don't use that vulgarity in front of Lily! She might think you agree with that." James replied with heat.
"Oi, I just said I hate how my mother is. I hate the whole thing, pure blood superiority, the killing, and the dark magic, it's revolting." Sirius angrily responded.
It was quiet for a few seconds.
"So you are just going to let them take your family from you. Your mom is a bitch so you are gonna let the dark lord and his minions make your cousins into either murderers or where's? So this is all the great marauders can do? Say it is to hard and give up like a child. Maybe turn their hair blue for a week and laugh at them while they do backroom deals and take control of the world. I came to ask you to help my friend from becoming one of THEM! Severus is the way he is because his Father hates being poor and won't let his mother use magic to help. He treats them like garbage because they are special. My sister is starting to act the same. I am not going to give up on trying to make her see, and you shouldn't give up either! Or are you four all talk and jokes while the world burns. If so then I guess I will do it alone even if it KILLS me." Lily finished.
"I'm in." Sirius declared. " I will talk to Sniv.. er Severus and try to get him to stop before it's too late. First I am going to write my Grandfather and request a meeting during the next Hogsmede weekend. Maybe he can help fix this." Sirius then turned to his friends with a sad smile. "So, I guess this is the end of me being a marauder."
"Why?" James asked.
"I HAVE TO DO THIS! SHE'S RIGHT, THATS MY FAMILY I AM LETTING THE DARK WANKER CORRUPT AND TRY TO CONTROL!" Sirius screamed.
" No, why would you think that I would let you do this alone? I guess I am going to see about how I am going to join you? I think we have some family connections. We are going to have to compare family trees with you and see if maybe you can get me into any Black family meetings. I am going to have to write Mom and Dad about this and see if they can find some way to help. What about you two?" James asked turning back to Remus and Peter.
"I will do what I can, but I am not going to be able to do much with my... um"
"Furry little problem!"
"James, she doesn't know!" hissed Remus.
"Remus, you are a great guy. It doesn't matter if..." Lily replied looking around at the empty common room. " you grow fur and act like a beast one day a month."
Remus shot to her quick as a shot and gives her a hug with tears in his eyes.
" Hey Remus, hands off my girl!" James said jokingly.
"YOUR GIRL! I don't know if I could date an arrogant toe rag like you, Potter." Lily said with a huff.
" Tell me how you want me to change, and I will do it. Your worth the world Evans!" James exclaimed.
" Be a better man." she replied.
He looked deep in thought for a minute..
" I will be!" he said softly but with conviction.
"Ask me out after you prove that." Lily said.
" What about you, Peter?" Sirius asked the last of them.
"Well...um... I don't know! Pranks are one thing, you are talking about actually screwing with the dark lords plans and making us targets. He or his followers are going to torture and kill us. What is there to be gained by doing this?" Peter replied terrified.
"Innocent Lives." Lily replied with steel. "The lives of our friends, classmates, and even future children. If you don't take a stand against evil, it will conquer and enslave you.
There are rumors that he tortures and kills his followers too."
"Wait, what?" Peter asked in a whimper.
" He is an insane maniac who murders and destroys anyone and anything he decides. Even if you join him, one day he might not stop using the torture curse in time and leave you a vegetable because you bring him bad news, or have someone else do it for amusement. Maybe he just hits you with the killing curse because something else pissed him off." Lily explained.
" How do you know all that?" Sirius inquired with a whisper. " My mother follows his way of thinking but even I haven't heard of this."
"I haven't heard of him doing things like that either." Remus responded.
"Who told you all this? How could you know this?" James asked. "No one in his service would complain to a muggle born, they would just kill you! And Sirius comes from one of the darkest families out there and he doesn't know about this. They just sing his praises." James asked getting worried.
" Are you even really Lily Evans?" Remus asked with a hint of paranoia.
"Damn it. Just check your map." She replied with a huff.
All four stared at her stunned.
" We just finished that. How do you even know about it?" James questioned harshly.
" Just check the damn map, Prongs!" She replied exasperated.
Looking shocked, he pulled it out of a pocket inside his robes. He stared at her suspiciously. " um, anyone know a privacy spell? I don't want her to know the password."
Lily huffed at him looking annoyed. Pulling her wand she touched the paper.
" I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!"
The four looked absolutely gobsmacked.
" Did you tell her?" the marauders asked each other at the same time.
"Just look at the map, it should say something pretty interesting to you ,James."
Looking at where the four were standing on the map he looked over where she was standing. It said Lily like it should. But instead of Evans like it should. It said Potter.
Remus and Sirius looked over his shoulder as he stared in shock at something that couldn't be possible outside of his dreams.
"What the buggering hell? How is this even remotely possible? This can't be real. What in the world is going on here?" Sirius questioned steadily getting angrier.
" On July, 31st 1980, I gave birth to James's and My son, Harry James Potter. We named you his godfather, Padfoot." She said with a stare. " Before that we all had joined the headmaster's anti Voldemort group The order of the Phoenix. James and I had escaped from Voldemort 3 times before I had my baby. We were told after Harry was born that Voldemort was targeting our family as well as Frank and Alice Longbottom and their son, Neville. We all hid from him for over a year before Dumbledore told us of this charm that would keep us hidden from him. The charm would make it that without the secret, he and his followers would never find us. We agreed to do the charm. Sirius decided to try to use his brain..." she trailed off.
"Hey! I can be clever!" Sirius whined.
" And said that it would be too obvious if he would be the secret keeper, so he suggested he play decoy. Then he recommended Peter." She finished with a stare at said boy.
"Me? Why would you ask me? And what is this leading up too?" He said twitching nervously.
" Remus was spying on the werewolf packs, and was distant at the time." she continued.
" Wait, why would I be distant? You guys are my best friends. Well, not you Evans but if you married Prongs then I think we would get closer. Wouldn't we?" He asked nervously.
"There was a spy in the order, they told secrets and plans to the dark lord. And got people killed." she said quietly.
" You thought it was me?" Remus asked with sadness tinting his voice.
"You were gone all the time, infiltrating the packs and spying on Greyback. You had opportunities. I didn't believe it. James didn't believe it was you, either." she continued.
" I trust you, Moony!" James declared with conviction.
" What made me not trust Remus?" Sirius asked, his voice cracking. " How could I not trust Remus?"
"You played an almost lethal prank on someone involving the Shrieking Shack and the full moon." Lily whispered.
"That would have killed them or Remus. I wouldn't do that. That isn't funny. That is wrong. Please tell me that isn't true." Sirius cried.
"You told Severus how to get under the whomping willow. I don't know why you did. James stopped him before he could get to far down the tunnel. But he still saw a glimpse of Moony. Dumbledore swore him to secrecy about Remus's condition, and punished you. Remus thought you tried to use him to kill Snape. You eventually made up but your trust in each other was strained." Lily explained.
" Did they torture the secret out of me?" Peter fearfully asked. " Or did something go wrong with the spell?"
" You became a spy, you sold us out to him. But you don't have to become that man, Peter." Lily told him. "We can Change this."
" How did it happen?" James choked out.
" It was Halloween, 1981, We were in the living room when the wards went off, you told me to take Harry and run. All magical transportation was blocked. I set up a way to keep Harry safe. Then he came in the nursery and asked me to step aside while he killed my baby. I begged and pleaded with him to not kill Harry. And then Green light."
She finished, tears rolling off her face.
"So that was it, You both died, how do you know Wormtail betrayed you?" Remus asked confused.
"I saw Harry's life." Lily said heartbroken.
" He died too?" Sirius asked, his voice barely a whisper. His eyes moved slowly to James, trying to understand what going through his friends mind.
" He Survived." She told them.
"The dark lord let him live?" Remus confusedly questioned.
" He cast the Killing Curse at my baby!" Lily snarled.
"You said he lived!" James looked confused.
"No, I said he survived. The curse backfired. it ripped him from his body and tore the house up." Lily explained with a vindictive glint in her eye.
" So, he came to live with me and grew up happy,right?" asked Sirius, trying to lighten the mood a bit. "I probably taught him.."
" You went after Peter, he set you up, killed 12 muggles. You got sent to Azkaban without a trial."
"They can't do that. Even by their biased laws, I am the Black heir. They would be forced to give me a trial. You can't just send anyone, especially the heir of a noble family to prison without a trial." Sirius replied.
"Your mother disowned you." Lily said.
" She doesn't matter, as I said Grandfather is head of the family." Sirius explained.
" Harry never found out if Arcturus did or tried to do anything for you. You gave my son to Hagrid, because Dumbledore told him to get my son. You handed him over and gave him your flying motorcycle."
"I had a flying Motorcycle?" Sirius asked with a sparkle in his eyes before remembering everything else and losing that sparkle.
Lily continued, " He took my son to Hogwarts, then to my sisters the next night."
" I am glad you ended up reconciling." James said with a small grin.
" We didn't, She hated magic because she didn't get it, it took me away to school, it changed me, she saw me become different, she thought I was a freak. And it killed me in the end. And then my wizard son was put on her doorstep with a letter teling her I died and she has to raise my son."
"Wait what? Who leaves a baby on the doorstep with a note?" Remus questioned with glowing eyes.
"Dumbledore." Lily deadpanned.
"That future sucks, Can we change it? What can we do to stop that from happening?" Peter begged. " And just what happened to that coward? I won't become him." He finished with conviction.
" He became a pet for a young boy and his little brother. He hoarded information. The younger brother became your "owner" just before his first year. He ended up sharing a dorm with Harry and became one of his best friends." Lily explained.
" Did I die?" Remus asked. "Where was I?"
"You thought Sirius betrayed us and killed Peter. Dumbledore wouldn't tell you were Harry was, said he was safe and sent you off to wallow in your grief." Lily explained.
"Okay, future Dumbledore sound like he is a wanker." Sirius deadpanned. "Leaves Harry on a doorstep like a paper and doesn't tell Remus where Harry is so he can at least check on him. Did he tell everyone I was the secret keeper too?"
"Yep."
"Bugger that!" Sirius said. " How do we stop this?"
"Well we have to keep Severus, Bellatrix, and your brother from joining him." Lily says.
"Reg joined him, I didn't think he would go so wrong." Sirius replied sadly.
"He joined up, served for a bit, was asked to borrow Kreature. Saw what Voldemort did to him. Found out part of his secret, then betrayed him and died believing he made the dark lords death possible." Lily explained.
" So he helped end Voldemort. I am proud of that. Because of him, Voldemort attack backfired and ended him." Sirius replied proudly.
" Voldemort survived too." Lily said, shocking the whole room.
"Remus, your the best at Defense, I was under the impression that no shield can stop the killing curse. So how did they both survive? I am confused." James asked of the clearly confused werewolf.
" Blood ward saved Harry, Voldemort had Horocruxes." Lily explained.
Sirius jumped back like hit with an electric prod. "Voldemort has a horocrux?"
Lily replied, " No."
"Thank merlin!"
"He has somewhere between 3 and 5 of them right now." Lily explained
"What is a horocrux, Why is Sirius suddenly looking like he might go mad? And Why is it so important?" Remus asked of Lily.
A hoarse voice came from Sirius.
"A horcrux is when you break of part of your soul and store it in an object to keep you attached to the world even if your body is destroyed. Making one is considered an abomination. Making more is evil, vile, and unthinkable. My father told my brother and I about them together. He told us what they were and said if we ever considered making them he would kill us himself without hesitation."
"Wow, There actually is something too dark for the Black Family! Doesn't your family teach you how to control fiendfire and shoot crucio's around like stunners." James joked.
" Be glad they did teach me how to control fiendfire." Sirius mumbled.
"Why?" Remus asked.
"Because it's one of the few ways to destroy a horocrux." Sirius said in a whisper.
"Alright, We need a plan to destroy the dark lord! So stop Sniv... I mean Severus from joining him, stop Bellatrix and Reg from joining. And destroy an unknown number of the most vile things that should have never been made. We are going to need help." Sirius laid out.
"Write your Grandfather, request a meeting. Tell him about the plans for your cousins, and tell him secretly about those things." James put out.
"Then make sure you stay as heir of the family and keep your family from becoming the dark lord's pet killers and financers."
Remus continued.
" Then train as hard as you can because him and his followers are going to try their best to kill you as messy as possible." Peter finished.
"So what are you guys going to do? Tell me I am not the linchpin of this." Sirius begged.
"Well, we have to stop Snape from becoming a death eater. You do know he is going to hex or curse us. Repeatedly, and we deserve it." James stated.
"We have to make nice with Snape, Oh the horrors. Wait wasn't pranking Snape relentlessly part of the charter of the marauders?" Peter joked. Then he stopped.
"Wait, it was part of the charter."
" Who put that in?" Lily asked with a huff.
"Sirius!" The others replied.
"Why?" She almost cried.
"They Dared me to!" Sirius explained.
"Hold on, did Lily just dare all of us to stop the death eaters marriage plans, keep the Black family from joining the death eaters, and destroy an immortal dark lord.?" James asked.
"You forgot, it started with her daring Sirius to be nice with Snape. She then blew her cover of knowing the future because we asked her why and she knew too much." Remus reminded.
"Padfoot, know one is even allowed to talk about daring you!" Peter declared.
"Hey, you said it would kill me or destroy the castle. This isn't my fault." Sirius whined.
"Well because of someone trying to dare you, We have to find the charter, amend it, because we are not disbanding the marauders, and make peace with Severus Snape. And then the hard part begins." James laid out.
"How much you wanna bet somebody dared him to feed Snape to Remus?" Peter joked.
"Well I saved Snape, Remus was a furry killing machine, and Lily didn't know in that time line, so It was probably you who dared him." James pointed out.
Lily looked over at Remus. "So how bad were the dares before you banned them?"
"Well, Peter dared him to find out my secret...in first year. He is lucky he didn't die or become infected. Padfoot what excuse did you use when Mooney beat you like a drum?"
"I tried a wronski feint at the pitch at midnight. And I heard they made a permanent rule that first years can't have their own brooms." Sirius joked.
"So that was the worst one?" Lily asked.
"Then James dared him to find a way they could keep me company without risking infection, in second year." Remus explained.
" How bad could that be?" Lily asked.
" He somehow found a ritual to become animagi. Then did it on all three of them without testing it or explaining what he was doing. They are lucky they became a rat, a stag, and a grim. they could have died."
" So what else did he do?" Lily asked.
"I dared him to make a map of the school with everyone on it." Remus replied sheepishly.
"He made the map!How?" Lily exclaimed.
"I got really lost, opened a door and fell down on top of the master ward stone. It tore up my arm and I bled all over it. I brought out this roll of parchment and while bleeding on told the ward stone I wanted a map of the school that was password locked and had an imprint of my best friends that would insult anyone without the right password. I woke up in the infirmary two days later with a blank parchment and recovering from extreme blood loss. Nurse said I just appeared in a bed with a note saying 'fix him!' Then she tried to make me swear that I would be good. I then replied with, 'I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!' Then the parchment glowed and it became the marauders map. Did James tell you about the map?"
"A couple of pranksters gave the map to Harry in his third year, while he couldn't go to Hogsmede because they thought you were trying to kill him. "Lily explained.
" If I just got released from jail, why would I try to kill my godson?" Sirius stated bewildered.
"You found out that Traitor Peter was sleeping in the same room as your godson."
" Still doesn't explain why I didn't just tell the Aurors. They released me." Sirius replied still confused.
" Oh, you didn't get released. You got tossed a paper with a picture of the rat on the front page, then you escaped Azkaban, and kept trying to get to Peter without explaining anything to anyone." Lily explained.
"I Escaped Azkaban? Wow, Bella Made that dare when I was five. I didn't think I would ever actually do it." Sirius pondered. So what was the last thing you remember from that bad timeline?"
"That timeline was rough but Harry did survive. It could have been worse, I think."
" How did it end?" Sirius asked.
She paused for a minute.
" Harry got hit with a killing curse again. He saw Albus at this white Kings Cross. And you Jumped off a train beat up Albus, and told Harry that You could have done things better."
" Why was I there?" Sirius asked
"You got knocked into the Veil of Death by Belatrix."
" What happened to Remus and Peter?" Sirius requested.
"Peter was choked to death by a silver hand made by Voldemort."
"Ouch!"
"Remus married your cousin. Had a son and then he and his wife died in the battle against Voldemort's forces."
"Which Cousin?" Sirius asked skeptically.
"Andromeda's Metamorphmagus Auror Daughter Nymphadora." Lily replied.
"So who did my current cousins marry?" He asked.
Bellatrix married Rodolphus Lestrange, Narcissa married that ponce Lucius Malfoy, and Andromeda ran away with a Muggle born named Ted Tonks."
"What happened to them?" Sirius asked. He was honestly curious.
" Bellatrix became one of the top death eaters, tortured Frank and Alice into insanity with the cruciatus curse. She then got tried and put in Azkaban about a week after you. She was there until Voldemort broke them out sometime in Harry's Fifth year. Then she killed you in the department of mysteries."
"Why were we all there anyway?"
" Voldemort sent Harry of you being tortured to lure him there to pick up a prophecy sphere."
" I thought Harry was under the impression I was trying to kill him." Sirius looked at her stupefied.
" You and Remus explained what happened at the end of his third year."
"How did Remus know?"
" He saw you dragging Peter and Harry's friend Ron through the passageway under the whomping willow."
" How?"
"Maruaders' Map!"
" I thought Harry had that."
"Remus confiscated it from him because Snape almost caught him sneaking back from Hogsmede."
" Why did Remus do that, Why was Snape there, and what was Remus doing there?" Sirius was so confused.
"Snape became the Potions Professor and head of Slytherin. And Remus was the Defense teacher that year."
"Snape was a teacher! He did well for himself. I am impressed. You said you wanted to stop him from being a death eater." Sirius joked.
"He was a death eater, who spied for Dumbledore, and spied on Voldemort after the resurrection."
"The fuck?"
"Yep."
" So I caught Peter and Harry's friend, and dragged them to the Shack. Didn't you say Peter was killed by a silver hand?"
"yeah, that didn't happen till almost three and a half years later." Lily replied.
" So I was a free man after the Shack?"
" No, You got disarmed by Harry, who then tried to strangle you. Remus disarmed Harry and his girlfriend."
"Harry had a girlfriend as a third year!"
"Best friend who happened to be a brilliant Muggle born girl."
"How did they become friends."
"He and Ron saved her from a troll."
"How? When? Why?"
"Defense teacher was possessed by Voldemort trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone to regain a body. He used the troll as a distraction while he try to get it. Hermione, the girl, was crying in the bathroom during the Halloween feast because Ron said something rude about her being a know-it-all and not having any friends. Harry goes to tell Hermione about the troll, Ron follows, they see the troll go into a room and lock it in."
"Um."
"Not done yet, the room was the girl's bathroom that Hermione was crying in. They unlock the door. Harry jumped on the troll's back and shoved his wand up the troll's nose. Ron levitated the club and dropped it on the troll's head after it pulled Harry off and was going to smash him with said club. Friends ever since." Lily finished with a smile.
"So Harry sees a supposed killer drag his friend into a tree and follows with his other best friend? Doesn't he have any self preservation at all?" Sirius almost cried.
" You were Padfoot at the time. He followed to save his friend from a dog. Then Ron stuttered out that you are an animagus. His friends see you and get between you and Harry. You say something vague enough to piss Harry off and he chokes you. Remus saves your life. Hermione blows Remus's secret. Then you both start to explain but get Interupted by Snape."
"Why was he there?" Sirius whined.
"Saw Remus on the map and followed. He grabbed Harry's invisibility cloak off the ground..."
"Where did Harry get an invisibility cloak and why did he leave it on the ground?"
"Dumbledore gave him James's Cloak for Christmas of his first year. And he dropped it when he got hit by the willow. Snape disarms Remus and says he is taking you out to the grounds to get kissed by a dementor. Before you Interupte again. The ministry put them there to keep you out. Back to the plot, The kids disarm Snape and knock him out, then demand you explain.
You tell them about switching secret keepers, then you point out how old the rat is. You and Remus forcibly reverse his transformation. Peter grovels and starts to blame everything on you and you basically scare a confession from him. The group head's back to the castle. You get out of the tunnel and then Remus transformed, then you transform to protect Harry. Then Peter transforms and runs away. Snape wakes up and gets smacked by Mooney. Mooney runs off because he hears a howl. You stumble down by the lake and get attacked by like a hundred dementors. Harry and Hermione come to try to help, you all almost lose your souls. Harry from future drives off the dementors."
"Wait, Harry time travels too?"
" Just the once to save you. Future Harry and Hermione fly up to the office your locked up in, blast the window and after dropping them off you fly into the night."
Lily finishes with a smile.
"Did Dumbledore stop being Chief warlock?" Sirius asked
"He lost it before Harry's fifth year." she replied.
"So he could have given me a trial before that?"
"Fudge refused to believe in your innocence at all."
"Who the hell is Fudge?" Sirius snapped.
"Minister for Magic, took bribes and did whatever Malfoy wanted." Lily snapped back.
" My cousin in law bribes the minister and he tries to have my soul sucked out. Is Lucius bad at bribing or what?" Sirius asked with a sigh.
"Malfoy was a death eater."
"And the Minister trusted him?"
"He claimed to have been under the imperius curse." replied Lily.
" He is so not marrying my cousin this time, I'll kill him first." Sirius snarled.
"You were considering allowing them to still marry the same people?" Lily stammered.
" Well, Andromeda did have a daughter with a super rare trait, so it all depends."
"Narcissa's son with Malfoy is a self entitled, snobbish, daddy's boy with delusions of grandure." Lily pointed out.
"Any redeeming qualities?" Sirius asked.
"Doesn't kill Dumbledore."
"How is that a redeeming quality, I do that every day."
"He was a death eater who had specific orders to kill Dumbledore." Lily pointed out.
"So Dumbledore survives? I thought I punched him out in that white Kings Cross?" Sirius asked.
"Snape kills him." Lily explains.
" And you want us to save him from becoming a death eater?" Sirius inquired.
"Dumbledore made him do it." Lily snapped back.
"Dumbledore told Snape to kill him. Why?" Sirius whined.
"Dumbledore got cursed by a horocrux. Death by Snape is quick. Death by Bellatrix is painful and long." Lily responded back.
"Does Bella have any kids?" Sirius asked
"No, to busy serving the dark lord, then Azkaban, then back to serving the dark lord."
Lily summarized.
"yeah that marriage ain't gonna happen." Sirius scoffed.
"Oh, I never finished the story with you, Dumbledore, and Harry's near death experience." Lily reminded.
"Dumbledore and I were both dead right?" Sirius asked slowly.
"As doornails."Lily joked.
"Harry was hit by a second killing curse right?" Sirius asked wooden.
"Yes." Lily replied very slowly.
"Then how was it near death if he should be dead?" Sirius asked.
"He had a horocrux in his scar, Voldemort used his blood during the resurrection ritual, he was owner of all three deathly hallows, and he can choose to go back." Lily explained with a huff.
"So how does the story go?" Sirius just let it go.
"Well you jump Dumbledore, lay the smack down, tell Harry you could have done better and oh Merlin." Lily stopped stunned.
"What? What's wrong?" Sirius asked generally worried.
"Harry said, 'I dare you to stop Voldemort from killing my parents and stop Dumbledore from screwing up my life.' And then you look at Harry, reach out and grabbed the part of me that was stuck to Harry. You looked at me and tell me to "dare you to be nice to Snape for a week when I got back. Then he wadded me up and said, 'since I am fixing all this mess I will just make it where we are as awesome as we were as fifth years when she gets to us in third year.' Then a voice from beyond ask, how do plan to do that?' You then said one thing to him as I was flying away."
"What did I say to the voice?" Sirius asked.
"'I double dog dare you!'" Lily started to cry.
