"Sam! Sam, come on, wake up!", Sam hears a familiar voice call her. Her eyes struggled to open as she felt a thudding pain on her face.
"Wait!", she heard Derek's voice and her eyes shot open. Just before she could sustain any more damage, her hand raised, just as she caught Stiles' fist mere inches away from her face, she looked at him in disbelief. "I know you weren't just about to punch me."
Stiles smiled at her and sighed in relief.
She sat up and looked around. "We're still in the elevator?", she muttered, realizing only she and the two in front of her were there. Ms. Blake wasn't here with there.
"Where the hell did she go?", Sam growled. "She left with Scott's mom.", Derek informed her. Sam got up quick. "What? She took Melissa?"
"There's more.", Derek said. "And worse.", Stiles added.
"What now?", Sam cried.
"Scott left with Deucalion.", Stiles announced.
"What– what do you mean he left with Deucalion?", Sam yelled. "He did, I saw it myself. He left. With Deucalion. They left together! So now Jennifer has my dad and Scott's mom and yours.", Stiles cried.
"She's already got her sacrifices.", Sam says, with sorrow.
"Yes and as much as I'd love to figure out who the fourth is, you two need to get out of here. The cops are on their way and if they find you here, you'll be in major trouble.", Stiles told Derek. Derek grabbed Sam and started pulling her away.
"Wait, what about you?", Sam asked her best friend.
"Don't worry about me, just go!", he pushed. Sam hesitated and followed Derek out to her car, quickly deciding to go to her house. Once she arrived, she parked outside the driveway, seeing her front door open and walked in the house.
Everything seemed normal but the knocked over chairs. She let out a shaky sigh as she looked around. She didn't bother calling for her mom. She knew. Her car was still in the driveway. The open front door was proof enough that she was taken.
Sam saw something sparkling in the corner of her eye and found her mom's necklace on the floor. Sam picked it up and grasped it in her hand.
Derek frowned as he looked around, his words echoing in his head. Everyone around him gets hurt. There was proof standing right in front of him as he looked at Sam from the doorway, a sympathetic look plastered on his face. He didn't need to say anything. Neither did she.
A few hours later, they ended up in the back of Deaton's with Scott, Stiles, Allison, Lydia, Isaac, and Deaton, who was alive and fine.
Lydia filled Sam in on the new situation. Chris had given himself up to the Darach and now Allison had to be a sacrifice.
It started making sense now. Scott's mom was the healer, Stiles' dad was the guardian, Allison's dad was the warrior, all the virgins were taken, and Sam stopped her from sacrificing Lydia, so her mom ended up being the last philosopher. Her mom wasn't a teacher, though…
Though… if she knew Deaton, she had to know something and was keeping it from Sam. But for how long…?
"There's got to be another way.", Sam said as she looked at Deaton, who was pouring ice into 4 metal tubs alongside Derek, Lydia and Isaac. Deaton looked at her sympathetically.
Sam looked down in sadness, rolling the necklace around in her hand. They were all gathered here for the sacrifice of each of their parents.
Deaton said the only way they could find their parents was by sacrificing themselves. That they'd essentially see where the Nemeton was and see where their parents were being held captive.
"Alright, what did you all bring?", Deaton spoke up.
"I got my dad's badge," Stiles ran his thumb over the gold star, "Jennifer kinda crushed it in her hand. I tried hammering it out a little bit. It still doesn't look right.", he said with furrowed eyebrows.
"It doesn't need to look good if it has meaning.", Deaton explained. Stiles' eyes immediately filled with tears, nodding.
"Is that an actual silver bullet?", Isaac asked, looking at Allison's hand.
"My dad made it. It's kind of a ceremonial thing. When one of us finishes learning all the skills to be a hunter, a silver bullet is a testament of the code.", Allison swallowed.
"Scott?", Deaton called. Scott uncurled his hand, unveiling a woman's watch. "My dad got my mom this watch when she first got hired at the hospital. She used to say it was the only thing in her marriage that ever worked.", he said as Sam chuckled.
Deaton glanced at Sam, a sympathetic look in his eyes. Sam swallowed, her eyes never leaving the necklace in her hand. "She's always had this necklace. A rose quartz charm. I always liked it the moment I saw it on her.", Sam says, letting it swing from her hand as she smiled solemnly. "I thought she'd get rid of it when it constantly turned white but for some reason it kept gaining it's pretty pink color back."
Derek rubbed Sam's shoulder as she grasped the gem in her hand. She gave him a soft, saddened smile and he couldn't return it. He felt like he had no right. He should've had his guard up from the beginning. He's never met her before, why was he so comfortable with her...?
"Okay," Deaton sighed, "the four of you will get in and each of us will hold you down until you're essentially…well…dead."
Sam frowned. "They're not actually going to die, right?", Lydia asked.
"Yes and no. The person to hold you down is not just someone to hold you under, it needs to be someone who can pull you back. Someone that has a strong connection to you. A kind of emotional tether."
Sam let out a harsh breath as she shook her head.
Derek glanced at her, a faraway look in his eyes. Lydia did the same as she took a step towards Allison.
"Lydia," Deaton stopped, "you go with Stiles." All their heads turned him, then to Lydia. "Are you sure? I mean Scott and I both have to go under.", Allison said with a shaky voice.
"You'll go with Isaac, Allison."
Scott looked down, clenching his jaw. It was hard seeing how Scott cared more for Allison than Isaac ever could, but there was no other way.
"I'll take Scott.", Deaton said and glanced at Derek. Derek looked down and eventually nodded, looking over at Sam. She swallowed. "This is gonna be hell.", Sam muttered.
"You trust me?", Derek asked and Sam looked at him with wide eyes, surprised at his question. She nodded. "I do."
He seemed to relax. "I got you.", he says, reassuringly. Her lips quirked a bit as she nodded. It was time. Allison was the first to be brave. The second she dipped her foot into the icy water, she shuttered.
Next went Stiles, and with an assuring nod from Sam. Scott stepped in the tub and Sam was last. They submerged their bodies into the iced water, their breaths becoming shallow as their carriers looked over them.
"By the way, uh, if I don't make it back and you do, you should probably know something.", Stiles stuttered to Scott. "Your dad's in town."
Both Sam and Scott looked at him in shock. "What?" Scott's dad was back? They almost thought he'd never come back. Sam almost hoped he wouldn't. From what Scott told them, the guy was an asshole.
Scott resented him here and there but she could tell he wanted him to come home. He just wouldn't though.
Scott began shaking, huffing out of his nose from the oncoming hypothermia. Deaton nodded his head, signaling them to go. Sam looked up at Derek as his eyes gave her a confirmation of reassurance before he sunk her underwater.
Sam wanted to struggle under Derek's hold, but he was strong, and the cold made her weaker.
The cold overtook her senses, and everything faded out.
Her eyes shot wide open, and she sat straight up, gasping for air as water dripped down her face. She stood as Scott, Allison and Stiles heaved for air as they sat up in their tubs too.
She looked around as the four of them were in a large, perfectly clean, pure white, tiled room. They got out of their tubs and looked at a circular clean cut tree stump rooted to the tile floor.
Suddenly, it seemed like the setting had glitched and Sam was in the woods.
She paused as she looked around. "Scott?", Sam called. Up ahead she could see a house outside of the trees she hid in. It was kinda far, but close enough that she could see a porch light.
The sun was going down, which made walking further in the woods a little harder to navigate through since it was getting gradually darker and colder. As she walked deep into the woods, which seemed like an hour had gone by, she saw a tree stump.
Perfectly cut, just like the one in the white room. She stepped closer to it but stopped as she heard a bush rustling beside her.
"Sam!", A familiar, feminine voice called out. A little girl laughed and jumped out from behind some bushes and ran right past her. Her eyes widened as she saw a younger version of her mom.
Was this a memory? Could she see her? "Mom?", Sam called, but the woman ran right through her as if she were a ghost.
"We gotta go, Sam. Everyone's waiting in the house.", she said, holding on to the hand of an 8-year-old version of Sam.
This was a memory…
Why hadn't she remembered this before, though?
She grabbed her little hand and walked away to the house up ahead. What bothered Sam more is when they walked away, her younger self seemed to notice her.
She gave her a wide grin, her teeth pointy and shiny. Sam backed away, falling back into the cool water again.
Her eyes shot open again as she broke the surface of the ice cold water once more.
Allison, Stiles and Scott splashed in their tubs beside her as they woke up. Sam shakily stood up, trying to rush out of the cold tub, but Derek quickly caught her, helping her out as he wrapped a large towel around her.
"I saw it.", Scott announced as he got out of the tub, dripping wet. "I-I know where it is."
"We p-passed it.", Stiles stuttered. "There's–There's a stump, this huge tree. Well, it's not huge anymore. It was cut down. But it's still big, though, very big."
"It was the night we were looking for the body.", Scott explained.
"The same night you were bit by P-Peter.", Sam says, remembering. Sam shook her dripping head.
"I s-saw it another time, though.", Sam said, shaking. "I remember going to the woods with my mom when I was 8. I c-came across it until she dragged me away. I think we were v-visiting my grandma at the t-time.", Sam says, frowning. "I didn't know her house was that c-close to the thing, though."
"We can find it.", Scott told Deaton. Derek, Deaton, Isaac and Lydia all exchanged worried glances.
"W-What?", Sam asked.
"You guys were out a long time.", Isaac said.
"How long is a long time?", Stiles asked.
"Sixteen hours.", Deaton answered.
"We've been in the water for sixteen hours?", Scott questioned him with raised eyebrows.
"And the full moon rises in less than four.", Deaton says. "Shit." Sam turned to Derek. "You need to go home."
"You want me to just leave you?", Derek asked in disbelief. "I'm fine now. I'm alive.", Sam says. "You gotta get Peter and Cora."
He let out a conflicted sigh and nodded at her before leaving. Allison, Scott, Stiles and Sam stayed, getting dressed in better clothes minutes after.
"No, dude, you are not going back with them.", Stiles refused to Scott after he said he'd have to go back to Deucalion and the other alphas.
"I made a deal with Deucalion.", Scott reminded them.
"Does anyone else think that sounds like a deal with the devil?"
"Why does it matter, anyway?", Isaac asked, walking up.
"Because I still don't think that we can beat Jennifer without their help.", Scott answered.
"Do you believe he's right?", Sam asked Deaton.
"I have faith that he is.", Deaton said. "Circumstances like this sometimes require that you align yourself with people you'd normally consider enemies."
"So we're gonna trust him, the guy that calls himself death, destroyer of worlds?" Isaac inquired. "We're gonna trust that guy?"
"I wouldn't trust him, no. But you could use him to your advantage. Deucalion may be the enemy, but he could also be the bait."
The door to the clinic opened and clattered and they all exchanged worried looks. Sam followed Deaton to the waiting room, instantly getting defensive when she saw Ethan standing by the door.
"I'm looking for Lydia.", Ethan announced. Lydia appeared to Sam's right and looked questioningly at him.
"What do you want?", she asked.
"I need your help.", Ethan said.
"With what?", Stiles stood beside her.
"Stopping my brother and Kali...from killing Derek."
After Ethan said that, Sam took him and Lydia to Derek's place. "He's gonna kill me.", Sam muttered as they arrived. "Hell, he's gonna kill you, then me.", she told Ethan as they walked up to Derek's apartment.
The lights were off while him, Cora, and Peter all talking with each other. It seemed like Cora was okay.
Their heads whipped towards the door after Sam rolled it open. The three of them came walking in with grim expressions on their faces. Derek immediately growled seeing Ethan next to Sam and Lydia.
"Hold on. He's here to explain something.", Sam stopped Derek. He raised his brows and stopped, crossing his arms over his chest.
"We know about the lunar eclipse. Don't think Kali's going to sit around waiting to level the playing field. She's coming, and my brother's coming with her.", Ethan warned.
"Good enough for me. Derek?", Peter looked at his nephew.
"You want me to run?", Derek asked his uncle.
"No, I want you to stay and get slaughtered by an Alpha with a psychotic foot fetish. Of course I want you to run! Sprint! Gallop! Leap your way the hell out of this town.", Peter demanded.
"If you want to fight and die for something, that's fine with me. But do it for something meaningful.", Cora suggested.
"No one's dying.", Sam says and pointed at Derek. "You're gonna get out of town and Kali will find other ways to settle her insatiable hatred. Now start packing and leave.", Sam tells him.
"How are you so sure I'm going to lose?", Derek challenged.
"We don't. But I bet she has an idea.", Peter motioned his head to Lydia. Sam turned to face her. "Don't you Lydia?"
"I don't know anything.", she looked at him in confusion.
"But you feel something. Don't you?" Lydia's eyes shifted down to the ground.
"Lydia?", Sam frowns. Her body tensed up.
"What do you feel?", Derek asked.
"I feel like…I'm standing in a graveyard.", Lydia says brokenly. Sam turned back to Derek looking at him with pleading eyes. "Derek."
"You need to go.", Peter urged, trying to push Derek and Cora out the door.
"You need to bring Sam too.", Ethan said, making Sam look at him in shock. Derek opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Peter. "No. She's staying here.", Peter refused.
"Kali's going to kill her.", Ethan stressed.
"If she does, Scott won't help them.", Peter explained before rushing Derek and Cora out.
Derek and Sam made eye contact for one last time before the door shut, leaving Ethan, Lydia, and Sam staring at each other.
A few minutes later, the shrill alarm Derek had installed started blaring. Sam turned to face Ethan and Lydia. Kali was coming. Before she could say or do anything, they heard a loud crash and the alarm stopped. Kali had broken it off the wall and the metal device dropped to the floor. "Where is he?", Kali growled as she stepped toward them.
"I think he said he was heading out to do some shopping, run a few errands, the usual werewolf afternoon.", Lydia nervously replied. Sam looked at her like she was crazy.
"Who do you think you're talking to?", Kali growled.
"Someone in desperate need of a pedicure. I'd be happy to give you a referral.", Lydia said. "Okay, Lydia.", Sam warned, pulling her away.
Kali's face tightened and her jaw clenched. Her claws came digging out of her nails as her anger grew. Behind her, Aiden growled at her. The female alpha rolled her eyes and turned around to him, smirking.
"Oh really? Did someone take their little assignment too seriously?", Kali began circling Aiden. Lydia stood by Sam, uneasy.
"She is not the problem.", Aiden replied.
"Maybe the problem is where your loyalties lie.", Kali growled.
"Oh God.", Lydia whispered. "Is this about to get really violent?"
"Probably.", Ethan and Sam said in unison. Before Kali could make a swipe at Aiden, the glass roof above them came shattering down.
Ethan grabbed Lydia and Sam and they dove beside a column, taking shelter from the pelting rain. They looked up to see Ms. Blake standing up and staring directly at the two evil alphas.
"So, who wants to go first?", she asked with spite in her voice. It took a second for Kali to gain her composure, and immediately she began fighting Jennifer.
Kali threw kicks and punches at her, until Jennifer threw the Alpha into the air, readying herself to fight Aiden.
Roars erupted as she and Aiden fought. Ethan stood up, unzipping his jacket the same time his brother ripped off his shirt. As they began to merge into one wolf, Jennifer took them both by the necks and ripped them apart.
Sam kept Lydia close as she yelped at the scene. Kali and Jennifer were up against each other again. With a sadistic smile on her face, Jennifer stared down Kali. "That's right, Kali, look at me. Look at my face. Do you know what it takes to be able to look like this? To be able to look normal?"
"I don't care.", Kali shook her head.
"It takes power. Power like this.", Jennifer spread her arms out slowly and all of the sudden wind picked up out of nowhere. The broken shards of glass began dancing up and hovering in the air around Jennifer as the wind blew at Lydia and Sam.
"What do we do?", Lydia whimpered. "I don't know.", Sam muttered. "We need to get out of here, though."
"I…I should have….I should have ripped your head off!", Kali yelled, shaking the floor. Jennifer screamed, throwing her hands forward, causing all the shards of glass to fly into Kali's body.
Lydia and Sam watched as the female alpha slumped to the floor. Jennifer slowly turned to the girls, glaring at them.
Sam blocked Lydia with her own body, backing her away with her. Why was she so powered up now? What happened to her weakened, helpless state earlier?
"Derek can't help you if you kill us.", Sam tells her.
"I'm counting on it.", Jennifer smirked. Growls came from behind her and their eyes fell on the twins in their mega-wolf form. They charged at the Darach, taking a big swing towards her. Instead of them landing a hit, she broke their neck. The once merged twins fell to the ground, lifeless.
Lydia started hyperventilating, as well as Sam. Despite being afraid, Sam still glared at the woman.
"What's the line coach likes to say? The bigger they are, the harder they fall?", Jennifer smiled. Lydia grabbed Sam's wrist and began pulling her back with her.
"What do you want from us?", Sam asked defensively.
"You? I want you dead.", Jennifer snatched her out of Lydia's grip and threw her across the floor. "I've wanted you dead since day one."
Jennifer turned back to Lydia, who pressed her back up against a wooden column.
"What do you want from me?", she whimpered.
"I want you to do what you do best, Lydia. I want you to scream." Jennifer morphed into the Darach, making Lydia hysterically scream.
Lydia's scream reached all the way on the road, all the way to the young Hales' ears. Derek paused the car, looking around as well as Cora. "What the hell was that?", Cora asked her brother.
Derek's face fell as he looked at her. "Lydia..."
He immediately turned the car around, heading back for his loft.
Back at the loft, Jennifer smiled and turned back to Sam who got to a knee. She walked over to her and picked Sam up by her shirt, dangling the girl.
"You just love getting in the way of things, don't you?", Jennifer asked.
"Trying to stop you from killing innocent people? Yeah, I'm down for that.", Sam growled out.
"You saw what I did to three Alphas and how easy it was. How easy do you think it would be to slit your throat or break your neck? I'm sure you know it won't be a problem.", Jennifer tilted her head with a smirk.
"Drop her." A voice yelled. Sam looked over to see Derek and Cora standing in the doorway.
"As you wish.", Jennifer shrugged, letting go of Sam's shirt and causing her to drop. Jennifer walked forward closer to Derek as he took a defensive stance. Cora quickly rushed over to a trembling Lydia.
"They're gone. I killed them. They're not a threat to you anymore.", Jennifer happily told Derek.
"You did this for me?", Derek asked, looking around.
"For us! For anyone that's ever been their victim."
"Stop talking to me like a politician! Stop trying to convince me of your cause!", Derek yelled.
"Fine. I'll convince you of someone else's: Scott. You can save his mother, Stiles' father..." She looked at Sam. "Maybe her mother."
"How?", Derek immediately asked.
"I need a guardian. That's a role that can either be filled by the three parents I was forced to take or by you."
"I can't help you. I'm not even an alpha anymore!", Derek exclaimed. Sam's eyes widened.
"What?", Sam whispered.
"All I need is for you to help me to get Deucalion in the right place at the right time."
"You just killed three of them on your own. What do you need me for?", Derek asked.
"You haven't seen him at his strongest. I have, and if he's got Scott with him, I don't stand a chance unless I have you." Jennifer shook her head, Sam stood. "How do you think that's gonna work?", Sam asked.
"I have the eclipse in my favor, the moon's only going to be in the earth's umbra shadow for fifteen minutes. That's the extent of my window! There's no decision to struggle with! Help me kill him and the others live, just help me!", Jennifer begged Derek while he looked conflicted.
"Human or not, how do you know Scott's not going to kill you the moment he sees you?", Sam asked. Ms. Blake turned towards her and walked her way with a smile.
"Because you're coming with me." She grabbed Sam's wrist and started dragging her towards the door.
Jennifer made Derek drive them to the abandoned Hale house. The heavy winds nearly pushed them as they walked inside and went down to the cellar. Sam already felt unpleasant just by being down here.
"Why are we here?", Sam asked. Jennifer looked at her with a smile and turned on that one light Kate had on months ago.
"How do you know about this place?" Derek asked.
"Why do you know about this place?", Sam asked, as she looked around. Not getting an answer, Sam felt a fist get slammed into her face, making her tumble to the dirty cellar floor.
"What are you doing?", Derek exclaimed, as Jennifer picked Sam up, grabbing her by her throat. "This is as far as she goes, Derek. I just need you.", she says and puts Sam in the cuffs he once wore.
Composing herself, Sam yanked at her rusty restraints. Derek growled loudly and started coming toward them, but Jennifer gripped Sam's throat once more, her nails poking at her skin.
"Take another step and I'll kill her.", she threatened. Derek's shoulders lowered as she seemed satisfied and smiled at him.
"I thought you said you needed me.", Sam said, glaring at the woman. Jennifer smiled. "I got my own tricks up my sleeve, Samantha.", she said, giving Sam's cheek a tap before sashaying off.
"Let me out!", Sam growled, pulling at her restraints.
"Not until it's over.", she declared. "Maybe even then, you'll stay here and think twice about getting in my way." Sam huffed, feeling overwhelmed.
The woman giggled as she walked over to Derek. "Come Derek, let's go.", she said and left with him, shutting the door behind her.
Sam let out a frustrated scream. This wasn't how this was supposed to go. None of this. Now there wasn't any way for her to stop her and get to her mom…
Sam sank to her knees, defeated.
"Samantha…", she heard a familiar voice. It was the voice of the three headed woman. She remembered looking for her name on the internet. Hecate.
"You have to get out. Now.", she stressed. There was no way she could. She couldn't get out of them without Scott's help, she couldn't do it on her own. "If you can't stop her, she wins. You have to."
Sam could feel her forehead bead with sweat under the light. In fact, her whole body felt warm.
Her body also began to ache as she heard Hecate's voice again, pushing her to get out. She couldn't even move. This sudden pain in her body was beginning to be too much. It felt similar to the pain she felt recently. Overwhelming, overstimulating. Too much.
"She just needs a little push.", she heard a chaotic feminine voice. Eris. "Remember what she did to your friends? Remember the pain and guilt she made you feel? Don't you just wanna rip her throat out?"
Sam's vision blurred as she gradually became angrier. "She kept Derek from trying to come back. She kept him away for herself. She made him feel like he was the savior after killing his first love. Her delusions have gotten in the way of everything. Doesn't that make you furious?"
Sam's throat dried as she began to pant and huff as minutes went by. She began pulling at her restraints once more, letting out a long yell as she finally fell into the floor.
She huffed and fell onto her side and glanced at her hands. Her eyes widened.
She had claws again. The same claws she had at the ice rink. She rolled on her back, shakily lifting her arms as she looked at her blackening fingers. They were definitely claws.
She swallowed as herjaw felt firm and sore. Her shackled hands felt her mouth and sure enough she had fangs. They weren't as big as Scott and Derek's, but they were there and longer than her actual, normal canines.
Was she changing?? She couldn't have been. All this time, she hadn't been able to, just like Lydia.
It made no sense. If she was turning and tonight's the lunar eclipse… shouldn't every other wolf be losing their powers?
Those questions needed to be answered later. Her friends were in trouble. She quickly left the cellar and ran to the nearest place she could think of.
The Beacon Hills distillery.
The lunar eclipse was slipping into appearance and she wasn't anywhere close to killing Jennifer for all the shit she put them through.
She had only a few minutes to kill her if Scott hadn't already done it.
She heard a scream of pain as she ran up, and immediately growled at the thought of her hurting Scott or Derek. As soon as she ran inside, she saw Derek on the floor being punched by Jennifer. Sam ran at her, grabbing her by the back of her collar and flinging her across the room.
She crashed into a wall and tumbled to her side, coughing for air. Sam rushed over to Derek, helping him up and he looked at her in shock.
"Sam?", he hoarsely whispered. Her face looked completely different. She didn't look like any other wolf he had seen. Of course she still had the similar angry formed face, but the markings... her eyes...
Sam turned to see Jennifer recomposing herself and she ran over to her, picked her up by her neck, and slammed her against a concrete wall.
Jennifer cried out in pain and tried to pry Sam's hands off of her as she gripped her throat. She didn't need the shadows to beat her at the moment. It felt even better to use her own hands.
"I told you you were gonna fuck around and find out.", Sam sneered, slamming her down on the floor and stomping her rib in. She screamed in pain, choking and gasping. She shakily stood up to stand her ground.
Once she did, Sam let out a loud growl, flicking of both her hands, as she looked at Sam's blackened claws.
Her eyes widened at the sight of Sam. Sam's sense enhanced much better than before as she realized what Derek was talking about. She could hear her pounding heartbeat as well as Scott and Derek's.
Jennifer sprinted towards her and threw punches. Sam could see her attacks and dodged them at every turn. She tackled her down and slashed at her arms as she blocked Sam's attacks. The woman managed to flip her over, so she had the upper hand.
Sam dodged her punches and kicked her off her as she skidded away.
They fought until Sam noticed her jaw set back to normal and so did her nails. Jennifer noticed as well and got a hit in, knocking Sam down. She chuckled as she thought she had won.
She backed away as Derek rushed over to Sam, helping her up as Jennifer threw mountain ash into the air, only for it to make a perfect circle around her. Scott, Derek, and Sam stopped.
"Like I told you, Derek. Its either you or the parents! Well, I guess I'll just have to take them now.", Jennifer taunted. "In a few minutes, they'll be dead, and I don't need a lunar eclipse even to kill a demon wolf," Jennifer glanced at Sam, "or whatever the hell you are."
Sam clenched her jaw. She was right. It wouldn't have mattered. Even with Sam's powers, she was gonna win. Derek looked over to Scott, who glared at Jennifer. He put up both his hands and took a step towards the barrier.
"You've tried this before, Scott. I don't remember you having much success.", Jennifer said, smug. Scott pushed all his weight towards the invisible barrier and began pushing as hard as he could.
He pushed hard enough to the point they could see a blue glow licking at his skin as he pushed into the barrier.
Sam smiled in astonishment as her friend managed to get his hand through. Much to Jennifer's horror, Scott took a step into the circle, breaking the line and sending her to the floor.
Sam and Derek shielded their eyes as a bright light flashed at them. Jennifer's labored breathing made them smirk. "How did you do that?", she asked Scott.
"I'm an alpha now.", Scott said. "Whatever you're doing to cause the storm, make it stop. Or I'll kill you myself. I don't care what it does to the color of my eyes either."
"It won't change the color of mind." Deucalion's voice sounded behind them. They turned around to see him walking towards them. "So allow me."
His claws ripped through Jennifer's throat. With a loud gasp, her hands flew up to grasp her throat as she choked on her blood. Jennifer morphed into the Darach once more and finally laid lifeless.
The harsh wind stopped as well as the rumbling thunder outside.
"It's over.", Scott sighed in relief. Sam smiled at him. "It's over."
He reached into his pocket and got out his phone, dialing for Stiles.
"Hey! Are you okay?", he hurriedly asked. Sam could hear Stiles' muffled voice but Scott glanced at her. "Sort of.", Scott replied.
Sam walked over as Scott handed her his phone. "Stiles?"
"Sam.", he sounded relieved and Sam sighed. "Hey. You okay?", she smiled.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah, we're all okay. Everyone.", he replied and Sam relaxed.
The Darach was gone and everyone was okay. Sam gave her goodbyes to Stiles before handing Scott's phone back.
His eyes were on the Deucalion. He was staring right at them, gazing in wonder. Sam looked at Scott then back at the man before them. "Can you see us?", she asked.
"Jennifer healed my vision.", he whispered. She tilted her head in wonder. His vision's back…? How'd she do that? Did killing her regain his vision?
Derek stepped up. "My mother told me you were a man of vision once. We're letting you go because we hope you could be that man again.", he stated, crossing his arms over his chest.
"But if you're not, then having your eyesight back won't matter…because you'll never see us coming.", Scott warned before he and Derek walked away.
Sam stopped and glanced at Deucalion before walking up to him. "Since you're the alpha of alphas and all… do you know what just happened to me? I don't… I don't know what to call what I just did. It happened on accident before, but since then..."
He smiled as he gazed at her face that held the markings from the before with an intrigued expression. "Unfortunately, my dear girl, I can't tell you. If you ever find out, I'd love to hear about it."
Sam gave him a nod, and walked out of the distillery, now questioning her existence. She didn't feel the need to change again. She didn't have heightened senses like I did moments ago.
As she walked with Derek and Scott, Scott paused, looking at his friend. "Sam, your face." Sam frowned. "What about my face?" Derek frowned, placing his palm on her forehead, covering the crescent moon on her forehead. He couldn't do much about her eyes and the markings on her cheeks. "You gotta get rid of the glow sticks."
Her eyes widened. Her face hadn't changed back? She took a deep breath and slowly the markings disappeared and her eyes turned back to normal.
They smiled after seeing her clear face. "There you go.", Scott said, making Sam chuckle.
After they left the distillery, Derek hurriedly got Sam home to see her mom relieved and safe. He watched from his car as they hugged and cried together.
She took notice of him and brought him inside, much to his hesitation.
They cleaned up the living room before sitting at the dining table.
It was time to talk.
Sam explained what she went through and why, also bringing up everything that had happened while she was gone here and there. "You got bit… by a werewolf?", she asked, taking in the news. Sam nodded. "And Scott?" Sam nodded again.
Her pointed at Derek who looked down in slight shame. "By his uncle who is also a werewolf." Sam nodded.
"That's not all. I…", Sam sighed. "I've been hearing voices. And it turns out the voices I've been hearing are Greek goddesses. Three of them to be exact. Now, I've never been that into Greek mythology, you know that, but lately I've been doing my research.", Sam said and her eyes widened.
Her mom looked like she had gotten caught with her hand in a cookie jar. Sam furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
She looked down at her hands. "Mom.", Sam calls and she looked up at her.
She swallowed. "I wanna show you something.", she says, and had me and Derek follow her to her bedroom.
Sam doesn't usually go in, because of privacy but it seemed so much different than she remembered. It was like a mystery room she haven't explored.
She walked them over to a table near her closet that had two candles.
One candle was surrounded by small black feathers and on top of the feathers laid a dagger.
The second candle was surrounded by rose quartz crystals, black feathers, sage and lavender.
Sam looked at her mom. "These are alters.", she says as her mother looked at her in sadness. Nodding, she replies, "Since we've moved here, I felt strange about Beacon Hills. I kept getting a weird feeling, like there was something supernatural happening constantly. I never understood what. With your dad gone and your brother leaving… I felt powerless."
She looked down. "I felt like… on my own, I couldn't do much to protect you. So, we went to your grandma's house and I tried to ask her for help. She helped me by telling me I needed to do my own research and I did. I went looking online for some rituals and ways to help us be safe, in case something happened. As I looked for herbs and crystals, I met Alan.", she said and Sam's eyes widened.
"He helped me with what I needed and from then on, I did the rest. I created these alters, begging the goddesses to help you. To watch over you if I couldn't.", she explained.
Sam walked over to the alters, looking at them as the candles flickered. "Nyx and Hecate…", she whispered.
"You did your research.", her mom said. Sam nodded. "Over the summer, I...I didn't know how to tell you.", Sam said, ashamed.
She placed a hand on her shoulder. "I was trying my hardest so you wouldn't know."
"You wouldn't have had to know if Peter didn't bite Scott in the first place.", Derek spoke up. He looked slightly frustrated, as he took everything in.
Sam shrugged. "What's done is done, I guess. I mean, I'm kinda glad that I do know now. It's kinda cool. I have powers now, so I'm okay with that.", she smiled.
Her mom's eyes widened, though. "What do you mean, you have powers now?"
Sam sighed, "Well, kinda like this." She stepped in front of her and watched as her shadow merged with hers.
She stiffened as Sam lifted her right arm and hers lifted. She looked at her in astonishment as Sam stopped.
"I think that's Nyx's doing.", Sam says and look over at the candle that flickers with passion. "I'm still learning a lot and it's very consuming, but–" She stopped as she saw her mom's eyes well up with tears.
"I can't tell whether or not I'm proud or terrified.", she said smiling and wiping her eyes. Sam chuckled. "I'm just happy you're alive."
Sam's eyes widened in realization. "Oh, before I forget.", she took the rose quartz necklace from around her neck and handed it to her. "I think this belongs to you."
Her mother looked at it before shaking her head, pushing it back to her daughter. "It's yours.", she says before caressing her cheek. "You've gotten so strong and right under my nose. I'm sorry."
Sam covered her hand with hers. "I just wanted everyone to be okay.", Sam said. Her mom smiled. "That's just like you. Always putting everyone's needs before yours."
Sam smiled at her before glancing at Derek. He looked back at her with a relaxed look, that almost seemed conflicted. Her mom looked at him as well and walked up to him, bringing him into a hug. "I'm sorry for your loss. Thank you for keeping her safe.", Sam hears her say. Derek's eyes bounced around in shock as he swallowed and awkwardly hugged her mom back.
"Thank you.", he says, before letting her go. Sam smiled at her then at him. "We gotta go. Gotta go see everyone else.", Sam says. He nodded and they left her mom with a wave and left the house to head to his place.
As they headed there, Derek let out a sigh. Sam turned to him. "What's wrong?", she asked.
"I kinda half expected her to slap me for letting you get bit.", he muttered and she laughed. She pulled up the rose quartz gem from her chest and smiled. "Mom's… forgiving. Too forgiving for her own good."
Minutes after they arrived, Sam sat at the table fervently writing in her notes again, taking in what happened last night.
This entire time even after she'd gotten bitten… that's never happened. Her powers have reacted out of the means of urgency but…
"Your thoughts are loud.", she heard behind her and see Derek giving her a soft smile. She relaxed as he walked up to the table.
"What's up?", he asked.
"The Darach's gone, the parents are safe, and Beacon Hills is back to normal… well, as normal as it could be. It's just one thing that's bothering me, though.", Sam muttered.
Peter walked into the loft. "Just the person I wanted to see. Peter!", Sam cheered. Both men looked at her weirdly and in shock.
Peter narrowed his eyes at her, suspicious. "I'm all for cheerfulness, but you're awfully happy to see me."
"I can't be happy to see you?", Sam asked, shrugging. Derek looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Not a lot of people are happy to see him, much less, you."
Sam sighed and rolled her eyes. "Okay, fine. I need your help.", Sam told his psychotic uncle.
He dramatically gasped, placing a hand over his chest. "Moi? You need my help?"
"She wants to know about what happened last night.", Derek spoke. Peter's sarcastic demeanor changed smugly. "So, you felt it. How'd that go?" Sam jumped up from her seat. "You knew!? Is that why you bit me!?"
He paused in the kitchen, raising a finger at her. "Ah, I bit you so you could change and be a part of my pack, not halfway change and turn into something else."
"Peter, please. Answers.", Sam pleaded. He smirked as he got himself a drink. "Oh, we're begging now. Fine, since you said the magic word." He walked over to the spiraling stairs and sat down.
"Since apparently you have powers, you are, what people consider, a witch or wiccan.", he says and her eyebrows furrowed. "That would explain the sudden powers and my mom's alter and her meeting with Deaton. But that doesn't explain why I was half changed into a werewolf.", Sam says.
Peter pointed at her, frowning. "If you let me finish."
Sam sighed and sat down. "Since I bit you, you were supposed to turn but whatever spell your mommy set on you, stopped the full transformation. I barely pierced the protection spell on you when I bit you. It made you immune but only for a short amount of time.", he explained.
Sam looked down. "She did say she was trying to protect me… she didn't know what for, though, but I guess it came in handy.", she muttered.
"From then on, you may have been "immune", but you were still affected, hence you can't touch wolfsbane or mountain ash or anything that could poison and or kill us.", Peter said.
"So why did that help you come back to life?", she asked.
"Balance. Somehow, in some way, him biting you still gave him access to the living world. You have the ability to deal with death and with that ability stabled him enough to help bring him back to life.", Derek said.
"Precisely.", Peter nodded. "You were bit and you were supposed to change, but that spell kept you from changing completely. I don't know if it's broken, but it happened and it definitely cracked. That lunar eclipse... Gave it a little push."
"But, I never phased on any other lunar eclipses.", she said.
"It might've just been a trigger. Like your body's reacting to stress. As if it's about to die.", Derek said.
Sam looked at him with wide eyes. Swallowing, she thought back to when we were kidnapped by Kate.
"You remember when we were in the cellar… and me and Scott hid…?", she asked him. His face hardened as he nodded.
"That guy…", Sam muttered. "I don't even remember running up on him. Everything moved in a blur. One minute I was watching him ready to slam his bat into you and then the next, he's on the floor with his neck snapped."
Derek's eyes widened a bit as he remembered. "You actually killed someone?", Peter asked, and clapped. "Bravo, Samantha."
Sam frowned at him. "I didn't mean to. I just wanted him to stop. Too much was going on and I felt angry and tired. Something told me to do it. I did it. I didn't know what I was gonna do the moment I got up but I did it.", Sam says to them. "The crazy part about that, you hadn't even bit me yet.", she told Peter.
Derek looked at me sympathetically. "It's definitely not the easiest thing.", he said.
Peter scoffed, taking a sip of his drink as his nephew looked at him with a shake of his head before turning back to Sam.
"It's not the easiest thing, but some things had to be done. It was either us or them.", Derek finished.
"And since then, you've become a hybrid. Funny.", Peter muttered, finishing his drink.
Sam sighed. Everything kinda made sense now. Her life wasn't gonna be normal to begin with. Not since they moved here.
In a way… she was fine with that. She kinda didn't want it to change.
After minutes of composing herself, Peter had left and she took another nap. She had only awoken as she heard Derek shuffling around. He was packing up his stuff into a suitcase.
Sam stood from the table. "Taking my advice already?", she asked with a sleepy smile. He looked at her sympathetically and nodded.
"Don't look so sad, Derek. You're coming back, aren't you?", Sam asked and he seemed hesitant.
Sam frowned. "You don't know."
He shook his head. "All I know is that I need to get Cora out of Beacon Hills for a while. Dunno where we'll go, but anywhere's better than here.", he said as he continued packing up.
Sam smiled softly. She was kinda sad that he was leaving, but it made sense that he was worried about his sister. He hadn't seen her for 6 years and the first thing they come back to after meeting again is fights to the death.
She couldn't blame him. She walked over to him and patted his back. He looked at her with a conflicted look. "You do what you have to. Enjoy yourself with her.", Sam says and he gives her a sad smile.
He suddenly brought her into a hug and Sam immediately hugged him back. "I'll see you when I see you, okay?", Sam says and she feels him nod.
"Just stay safe, yeah?", Sam plead as they part. He chuckled. "You know I can't promise that."
Sam smiled and backed away. "Yeah, I know. Bye, Derek.", she says before leaving the loft and driving away.
She ended up going back home and letting everyone know the news.
Scott, Stiles, Lydia, Isaac and Allison sat in the living room as she told them everything.
"You're a witch?", Scott asked first. "No, she's a werewitch. She's a hybrid!", Stiles exclaimed, dragging his hands down his face.
"How'd that even happen?", Isaac muttered. "Is no one even normal in this group anymore?", Lydia asked, making everyone chuckle.
"I don't think so. Well, aside from Stiles and Allison. I don't mind it, though. I wouldn't change a thing.", Sam says, disturbingly pleased.
They smiled at her and agreed. There's nothing she would ask to change her life now.
