Professor Professor couldn't believe what had gotten over him. One minute, he'd been listening to three foreign U.Z.Z. agents explain their version of events of what went down last night. The next, he'd blurted out in front of everyone that he'd gotten into a new relationship with Doctor Doctor. He hoped beyond hope that people would just forget about it after a while and things would go back to how they were, but he couldn't be quite sure things would work out that way.
Now that he actually thought about it, how was Doctor Doctor going to react when she found out he'd accidentally revealed to U.Z.Z. that they were dating? At the very least, he couldn't imagine that she'd be exactly thrilled about it. Still, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, right?
He was hoping to put off telling her for a while and just focus on other things instead. So for the time being, that's exactly what he did. About a week later, give or take a few days, he acted like nothing had happened and carried on with his work.
"No significant threats have cropped up this week," Honey Boo Boo began to speak. "That being said, however, there is a growing threat on the horizon and it could mean that it poses a danger to security, which as you know I take very seriously. I take security so seriously, in fact, that my name is Changed Daily. Today, you may call me..." His cellphone beeped and he could barely hold back a frustrated grunt. "More Bounce To The Ounce."
Everyone else in the briefing room just laughed.
"Anyway," More Bounce To The Ounce continued. "U.Z.Z. has been getting reports about Impostors training for something in Siberia. From the sounds of it, it seems they're getting ready for another takeover and possibly to try to usher in yet another ice age."
"These Impostors, they just don't give up, do they?" Victor asked.
"I'm afraid not, Victor," Anita replied. "They're persistent, I'll give them that."
"What's the best course of action we can take, Professor Professor?" More Bounce To The Ounce asked him.
"We have Victor and Anita disguise themselves as Impostors in order to infiltrate their ranks."
"I'm sorry, wasn't it the fake you who suggested that once?"
"Ja, why?"
"Well, it almost got us killed last time, that's why," Victor said. "You expect us to risk our lives doing that crap again?"
"Of course I do. Besides, despite everything, fake me's plans actually worked out in the end, so why can't the real me's plans work out now?"
More Bounce To The Ounce tried to wrap his head around what Professor Professor had just said. "I mean, I can't really argue with that logic. Alright, we'll do it."
On the T.H.E.M. side of things, Doctor Doctor decided that she and the rest of her motley crew needed to stop by Siberia and give the Impostors a peace of their mind. Surprisingly, Maxime didn't seem to have any idea that his boss was onto him. Doctor Doctor didn't think much of his ignorance in that regard, but in retrospect, she probably should have wished she had. While the T.H.E.M. base was inching closer to Siberia, Maxime decided to pull his boss aside to talk to her.
"Mademoiselle, has everything been... alright with you?" Maxime asked Doctor Doctor.
"Everything has been fine," Doctor Doctor replied. "Why do you ask?"
"...no reason. It's just that you seem to be acting strange lately."
"Really? How so?"
Maxime knew there were lots of moments he noticed his boss acting suspicious, but he was only able to name one such moment off the top of his head. "You remember that time I told you how happy I was I'd take over for you while you went out on that date?"
She feigned ignorance. "What do you mean? What about it?"
"Stop acting so obtuse, Doctor Doctor. You know exactly what I mean."
The cyan-hued baddie pretended to suddenly remember what he was talking about. "Oh, right, I didn't react when you told me."
"That's right. I was somewhat disappointed when you didn't show much anger. I guess I was expecting... something more."
"Why don't we save that kind of talk for when we leave Siberia?" At that moment, she turned to look out the windshield to see the T.H.E.M. base had already landed at its destination. "Speaking of... no more of this 'acting strange' talk. We've got threats to snuff out."
For a moment, Maxime thought to himself: Oh, we have threats to snuff out, alright. He kept quiet for the time being while he followed Doctor Doctor out into Norilsk, one of the most remote towns on the planet and located deep in the northernmost parts of Siberia. Doctor Doctor stepped out to take a look around what many people deemed to be an isolated dystopia. She dared not to breathe in too much of the air tainted by highly toxic levels of pollution.
"This certainly seems like the kind of place the Impostors would want to train at." Doctor Doctor turned around to face Maxime and called out to him to bring Oluremi, Adrian, Min-jun, and Kent out here to join her. "Just bring them out here. I want to start keeping lookout right away."
"Of course, mademoiselle." Maxime disappeared for a moment, only to come back seconds later with the four Expendables (well, three Expendables and a double agent) on tow. "Here they are."
"Um, is there any particular reason you wanted us, Doctor Doctor?" Kent couldn't help but ask.
"Of course," Doctor Doctor replied. "It's so you could accompany me while we infiltrate the Impostors and destroy them from the inside."
Min-jun just shrugged. "Okay, sure, I'm in."
Doctor Doctor had her arms crossed. "Good. Now come down here at once!"
Oluremi, Adrian, Min-jun, and Kent all did as told. Shortly before leaving, Maxime walked down to the surface where his boss and the other four Expendables were, ostensibly to see them off.
"There's something I've always wanted to say, Doctor Doctor," Maxime said.
"Yes, Maxime?" Doctor Doctor asked. "What is it?"
At that moment, Maxime turned around to face the T.H.E.M. base and he yelled out orders to some of the Expendables who were still inside, orders to "take care of the problem," so to speak. Expendable Black Eight came out with Expendables Maroon Fifteen, Orange Eleven, Blue Ten, and Tangerine Thirteen; and they pointed their laser guns at the five people before them.
"Wha... what's going on?" Kent asked, alarmed by where this was going. "Why are they pointing their guns at us?"
"Isn't it obvious, you idiot?" Maxime answered with another question. "There's no place for people like you in this group, at least not anymore there isn't. You're dinosaurs, especially you, Doctor Doctor. Your kind is heading for extinction. It is but a sad inevitability. It's time to reinvent T.H.E.M. into something people can actually fear."
Now it was Oluremi's turn to ask. "What are you talking about?"
Maxime sighed, partly frustrated by her question. "It's time for you to die. Expendables, take care of the problem, and take care of it now!"
Their laser guns at the ready, Expendables Maroon Fifteen, Orange Eleven, Blue Ten, and Tangerine Thirteen shot at the Expendables they'd once considered their colleagues. Oluremi, Adrian, Min-jun, and Kent were shot in the legs and torsos as a means to temporarily cripple them. Once that was over with, Maxime shot Doctor Doctor in her left knee and then in a lung.
Doctor Doctor let out a pained yell before trying to speak. "Damn you, you backstabbing asshole!" With that, she started suffocating, as the lung was already starting to collapse from the injury.
"It looks like my work here is done," Maxime announced as he started going back inside the T.H.E.M. base.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?!"
"No need to ask. Ce n'est pas tes oignons."
With that, Maxime was inside and the T.H.E.M. base took off, leaving Doctor Doctor and the four Expendables for dead. The Expendables were at an impasse on what they could do or how they could reach out for help. They knew they had to treat Doctor Doctor's lung wound quickly or she'd slowly suffocate to death and possibly even drown in her own blood. As luck would have it, though, an Impostor happened to be walking through the area.
"Guys, look!" Kent called out to the other three Expendables. "It's an Impostor! Maybe if we can reach out to her, she can help us!"
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Min-jun asked, antsy on getting out of this dire situation. "Do it!"
"Okay." Kent took a small breath and yelled out, "Hey, Impostor! We need your help!"
The Impostor just stopped in her tracks and pointed to herself.
"Yeah, you!" Min-jun also started to yell. "We're talking to you! Can you help us?!"
The Impostor seemed reluctant to help at first, but then decided that it wouldn't hurt to help the humans out and came over to where they were.
Oluremi gave a sigh of relief. "Oh, good. Do me a favor. Do you happen to have any duct tape and plastic bags on you?"
The Impostor said "yes" in Impostorese. Oluremi then gave the Impostor instructions on how to treat Doctor Doctor's chest wound, which she was able to follow easily and efficiently. Once that was done and over with, Kent asked if he could borrow the Impostor's communication device. Just like before, the Impostor said "yes", though it seemed much more reluctant in tone.
Kent dialed in the number for U.Z.Z. and was able to get through. "Hello, U.Z.Z.? This is Kent B. Trusted, can you hear me? I was shot and left here for dead along with Doctor Doctor and three Expendables. Please respond and get us medical treatment. Again, please respond and get us medical treatment."
That was the last thing Doctor Doctor heard before she passed out from the pain.
