Hey, I'm back so soon A couple of things first off I usually don't respond to story comments that's what PM's for if it's something serious about the story. But for the sake of some not so positive feedback and confusion I'm making an exception to clear the air.
Riad Boumrah: It's currently undecided still depends how long it takes for me to finish this story. I thought about doing an AU with Hayden/Rebekah in The Originals, but it all depends. But this story for sure will end on season 4 fanalie and season 5 episode 1 and then a epilogue.
NazgulBelserion: Glad to see your loving Katherine it's really hard to narrow down her personality she's kinda off and on in my opinion and unpredictable.
Diabolos Aides: glad to hear your enjoying the story it's fans like you that renew my motivation by just saying they like it every now and then to know I'm not wasting my time, thanks.
Guest: I actually looked up what that word means and I'll tell you right now I'm only a fanfic writer a person doing their hobby, I'm not a bestselling author or screenwriter, just know that I try my best to match the characters and their personalities, as for Klaus your probably right but sometimes details are missed plus based on the angle of my story Klaus can't afford to kill Hayden…yet.
Also please note that the chapter may not connect as well because I skipped over some parts because I needed to stay on schedule, plus I don't want it to seem like I'm just copying each episode word for word, as long as I cover the purpose that leads into the next episode and get around 5k of words then I'm posting it. Enjoy!
Hey, how is everybody, good hopefully because for one particular Rogue Hybrid. Things have been kind of shitty to say the least.
Considering that Damon and Stefan are hellbent on finding a loophole to end Klaus without killing themselves in the process. Considering what Hayden's done against them in the past can't say that he blames them for not caring if he's just 'collateral damage' in the process if it means finally getting rid Klaus for good. Aside from being there for his grandma Hayden doesn't really have much to live for so doesn't make a difference if he lives or dies. However since there's a number of others out their that Klaus turned as well as his old bully/former nemesis Tyler Lockwood who's also a hybrid for those who've forgotten that little detail. Hayden can't really say this enough but despite the fact that Tyler is a smug jock and cocky bastard, he still doesn't deserve to die because he's still got his mom and Caroline his girlfriend who need him. Same can be said for the other poor SOB's that the louse made.
Katherine on the other hand didn't take the news well…at all! She already considered it was bad enough that Klaus already taken her freedom, and now there's the possibility that she could die at any moment if he's killed by her exes.
Of course that's when she stabbed Hayden, after he told her to take a chill pill that is. Note to self, maybe back off on being the bossy bastard when Katherine has had enough drama for one night, just to be safe. He can still feel that pen in his gut, figuratively anyways, almost left a scar, but he's a hybrid so double healing factor and all that so, no harm done really, emotionally speaking that is.
Of course she went off like Katherine usually does, giving him the usual 'I'll be in touch' line or whatever.
One of these days he's going to find out why she's been running from the wack job aka Klaus in the first place. The closest he came to finding out about her origin was a while back, he can still feel those soft glossy lips so cold and yet there's a warmth locked away behind them. God, it was so intoxicating and the way she-…WHAT THE HELL?
Here we go again, Goddamnit! Why does he always go to these thoughts, they just pop up like daisies is in head when he's around her.
He knows he ain't falling for her looks or body, although the knows that she is sexy as hell…but that isn't enough to get him wrapped around her sticky fingers.
He doesn't get it he knows that there's only two women in this whole damn world that he's been able to connect with Rebekah and Katherine. He knows that while he's gotten the chance to be with Rebekah since first off they've had more time to know each other, hell they've see each other naked, and then some. Still there are those weird feelings that strike every now and then, but in the end he just can't see anything with her that goes past their current 'friends with benefits' status.
Katherine on the other hand, one despite their little moment they had in that hotel room a while back, that kiss they shared…something happened, he doesn't know what it is but, when their lips touch it awakened something deep inside of him, some feeling of familiarity that he doesn't recognize. None of this shit makes sense, honestly it's starting to bug him when he tries thinking about it, present included. Get this straight, Hayden. Katherine Pierce, is a ruthless backstabbing bitch that cares only about herself, and no one else, end of story. Or is it?
There was something more to her, as much as Hayden tries to lie to himself, while he knows he ain't falling for her like all those other sorry SOB's that have actually slept with her. But that night he saw a side that he just knows she doesn't like to show, at all. That rarely anyone's ever seen. He doesn't know how he feels about this…about her. But he hopes he will soon.
Right now though he's on his way over to the Salvatore house. He's got a deal to hold up and even though he'll never ever trust Klaus, it's worth a shot to get some space away from him not only for himself but for his grandma.
Hayden arrives at the front door knocking, yeah he knows he can just walk in but, still it's their house.
Once again, the first sight on the other side of the damn door is one Damon Salvatore. Can't a guy catch a break?
"Hayden, what the hell are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to Stefan, got some business with him."
Damon doesn't argue after the rough night he's had with Rebekah, he knows better than to show his face to her again anytime soon, at least until she's cooled down.
"Just so you know so there's currently a stake that's gone missing, just a heads up."
Hayden stops in his tracks turning to Damon, "What are you talking about?" He asks with a bit of unexpected fear in his voice.
"I'm talking about the white oak stake that we gave to Ric, his alter ego wanted to play hide and seek with it." Damon says
Hayden snaps towards him, "Hold it, you're saying that Alaric's split persona has the last stake squirreled away somewhere?"
"Yep, pretty much."
"Huh, did you ever consider that maybe giving a highly dangerous weapon to a guy that's currently dealing with some serious mental health issues isn't the best person to have one of these things at the time?" Hayden exclaims, putting his hands over his head feeling a bit of an anxiety attack.
"Well the thought had crossed my mind, but Ric insisted he was all good and that Bonnie's little witch remedies were working like a charm, so no." Damon answers.
"Speaking of Klaus, has he called yet?"
"He's expecting me to deliver two stakes, I only have one." Stefan relays to his brother.
"Well, that's gonna be disappointing for him." Damon comments.
"Uh-hmm, correction. Klaus expects…us to ship those stakes to him." Hayden interrupts, pointing back in forth between himself and Stefan.
Damon gives a confused look with a slight hint of concern where Klaus is involved. "Alright Kerbex, what did you do now?" He asks with lazy groan.
Hayden shrugs his shoulders. "Nothing, honestly not that it means much anymore now that the Original pain in our asses knows what's really going on, what I did was after Stefan got ya out of Rebekah's clutches. I went over and made a little deal of my own with him."
Damon shifts cautiously. "What do you mean?"
Hayden sighs. "Long story short, using my common sense I figured that while you guys would give Klaus and Rebekah the stakes, I also figured that you wouldn't tell them about the three you snuck away or about why you'd trade'em up just for this guy, no offense Damon."
Damon did look slightly offended at that.
"Anyways, so I told them the real reason why you gave them up, because you don't want to stake yourselves in the process, until you know who's the beginner of your fanged family. Plus, I also agreed that I'd make sure that you guys wouldn't try to pull any other stunts behind his back and make sure you deliver on time, well actually he didn't give me a time cause I was too busy pissing him off, when giving Rebekah a little entertainment, I good to know I can still multitask."
"Are you sure this is the right Klaus we're talking about, the Original Hybird that maims and destroys anyone that crosses or mocks him for even so much as a little fun?" Damon asks.
Hayden give a sarcastic thinking expression, "Hmm…well not that I think about it he did seem a bit shorter than he usually is, but other than that yeah I'm pretty sure this is the same Klaus we're talking about, why do you know another one that's an ugly overgrown kid that likes to throw temper tantrums when they don't get what they want?"
"There's the shitty humor we've all been missing, that's really funny, Kerbex." Damon humorlessly laughs out.
"Well if we're being serious you're not wrong Damon, even going to his place was a bit of a gamble, but didn't want to miss the chance to get out of his shadow and back into the light again."
"Even if it means finally getting small treats for doing tricks and listen to commands like a good little vampire-puppy for him, right?"
Hayden's eyes flash yellow and veins pop out, a low growl is heard from his throat before they return back to normal, Hayden grabs Damon by his jacket until their faces are a few inches away.
Hayden smirks. "Okay shit for brains, time for you daily reminder, I don't take orders from anyone or anything, I look out for those I care about and do what has to be done when it's called for because you aren't the only ones that got p, but don't you fucking think I'm gonna roll over for that louse like all his other hybrids that were sired to him did, got it?"
Damon nods, "Crystal clear, Kerbex." Smug as usual, asshole.
Hayden releases his grip on the older Salvatore's jacket.
"By the way how's Alaric holding up?" He asks. He may not have a split personality running wild in his melon, but he doesn't need to, to know that it ain't exactly something that's fun especially when they turn out to have murderous psychopathic tendencies, poor guy.
"Don't worry about it, got him comfy and locked up in the cellar, Elena's down there right now playing nurse…checking up on him and all that, by the way did you really have to be so hard on the door in the other cell, you practically bent the thing in half?" Damon complains with some shitty humor.
Hayden chuckles with a smirk on his face. "Well what can I say being blindsided and getting your neck snapped ain't fun, plus I get a little moody sometimes when I don't know what's happening, besides look at it this way, Damon. I snapped your neck, you snapped mine…we're even Steven." He explains.
Damon shrugs his eyebrows in agreement tilting his head to the side. "Got me there, way I see it we're even on breaking necks, but as far as breaking doors goes I still owe you one, name the time and place and I'll be happy to do a little shock and awe." He offers, that devious gleam in his eyes.
"Whatever you say, Damon. Whatever you say." Hayden laments not really caring.
Damon turns his gaze to Stefan, "You sure you got this, I mean Ric is kind of in a sensitive spot right now."
"I'll get it out of Alaric, I just need some time." Stefan claims.
Hayden folds his arms giving a skeptical look, "Yeah well, time ain't exactly something either of us has got a lot of, Stefan. So hopefully you've got a good plan ready to go, because last I checked patience is very low on the list of traits that describe Klaus." He reminds him.
"Even I admit he's got a point there, while I like that confidence, sadly I don't share it, Stefan." Damon adds on.
"You both don't think I can do what it takes?" Stefan asks.
"Well I do because I'm in the same boat as you are so ya got a little extra muscle, but I don't think he does." Hayden states, jerking his thumb towards Damon.
"Well in my defense, he is good Stefan again, he's in control. Sorry, he might get the girl, but he also loses the edge." He explains.
"Speaking of…"
Elena makes her presence know by walking into the room with her jacket in her arm. Where she notices the three boys in the room.
"Well Alaric's doing fine, but this whole thing seems to be taking a toll on him and he just doesn't want to show it." Elena claims.
"Aww, don't worry about it, he'll be fine, he's got baby bro, and roguey here as backup." Damon assures the doppelgänger, Stefan seemed passive of that comment, although Hayden flipped him off for that little nickname, and of course calling him backup, kinda makes him sound underrated.
"Wait, where are you two going?" Hayden asks being out of the loop there.
Elena brushed a brown stand of her long hair back before answering. "Remember what Bonnie said, Klaus knows where Jeremy is right now, it's not safe for him where he is anymore, so Damon and I are going to Denver to get him and bring him back home." She explains.
"Well say hi to him for me."
"Sure." She simply states.
"Have you ever flown first class?" Damon asks.
Elena looks at him surprised, "Who did you have to compel for that?"
Hayden snorts out a laugh that's barely held back, at Elena's burn.
Damon rolls his eyes with a scoff, "please….I used miles." He justifies.
Damon walks out of the room grabbing the packed bags and other luggage, etc. While Stefan and Elena share a look as there is a uneasy tension now in the air, even Hayden notices.
"Stefan-" Elena starts.
"Be safe." He cuts her off.
Elena doesn't say anything back and just stands there shifting back and forth before finally walking out the door after Damon shutting it behind her.
Stefan sighs looking down at the floor.
Hayden notices this, showing a concerned look for the vampire, "You good?"
Stefan turns to the rogue hybrid and slowly nods, "Yeah I'll be fine." He claims although he doesn't sound very convincing.
Hayden decides to let it be it's none of his business since it's personal, "Well if there's nothing else you need with Alaric at the moment I've gotta get going to school, call me as soon as you get something on that stake, see ya later." With a small wave and a nod from Hayden walks out the door and is gone.
As usual school was boring as hell, and seems like a distraction these days to help forget about all the insane shit and drama that's going on outside of it these days.
Hayden offered to help out with the 'Decade Dance' and of course Rebekah helped pick the theme the roaring 20s. No surprise there, since the 1920s was the last time Rebekah was out of her casket, before Klaus daggered her for those who have forgotten.
Hayden is currently helping out Matt with some of the decorations, that's when Caroline strolls in and the peppy blonde does not look happy. To make things worse she heads right for the the two of them.
"What is this?" Caroline asks.
"It's the decade dance. Remember, you made us sign up to help." Matt answers, casually.
Hayden walks over right next to him and sets down a box, "Well actually I volunteered because I don't do sports, and got nothing better to do for now at least, until I'm needed later. So might as well make good use of the time, plus the head of the dance committee asked me if I could lend a hand…or two." Showed his hands, earning a groan from both Caroline and Matt.
"Honestly, what does it take for people these days to appreciate good humor?" Hayden asks rhetorically.
Caroline's expression changes as she gets back to the question on the top of her head.
"No. This! The 20's." Caroline elaborates, picking up a purple scarf, "We're doing the 70's!" The peppy blonde complains.
"Too flashy people, it's suppose to be a speakeasy, not the world fair." A very familiar exotic accented blonde original vampire voice comes up from behind, the very presence of her is enough to bring a very hateful scowl onto Caroline's face as she slowly turns around for her gaze to see her arch nemesis aka Rebekah, walking towards the three of them with a clipboard and pen in her hands.
"Ah, good. You're here. We need help setting up the tables, so get to it." Rebekah tells the fellow blonde.
Caroline folds her arms eyeing Rebekah dangerously with a glare. "What do you think you're doing?" She demands.
Rebekah's eyes go back and forth looking clueless as to what she means. "Somebody has to be in charge." She answers honestly.
"Yeah, me." Caroline replies, obviously irritated if not pissed. "I'm the chair of the dance committee." She moves closer and closer to Rebekah until she is almost right up in her face, "The theme of the decade dance is the 1970s." She remarks.
Rebekah just tilts her head to the side, "So you'd rather dress in tacky colors with bad hair, than be a classic flapper from the jazz age?" She asks her.
Rebekah shakes her head her eyes roaming over Caroline up and down, "Truthfully, I don't know what my brother sees in you." She comments.
Caroline tilts her head not wanting to give Rebekah the satisfaction, and gives her own malicious grin. "Well maybe he sees a challenge." She guesses.
"Unlike some other people, I don't sleep with everyone I make eye contact with." Caroline fires at the original.
Hayden folds his arms and arches an eyebrow moving over to stand next to Rebekah giving Caroline the 'excuse me' look, "Care to repeat that again, for the rest of the class, Caroline?" the hybrid requests almost challengingly.
Caroline gives something between a grunt and a sigh looking to her friend, "Aside from present company included, Hayden. Alright, I'm sorry!"
"Maybe we can do both decades?" Matt suggests.
"That's actually not a bad idea, halfsies.
That way it's fair, what do ya say?" Hayden agrees.
Both Caroline and Rebekah each spare a quick glare at either of the boys.
"NO!" The two blondes say in unison.
Okayyyy! So that's not gonna work.
"Go on, Hayden. You don't need to be so hesitant, and Matt don't need to be cowardly. Just because Caroline is being very insecure and a bit melodramatic at the moment. You know you both loved my 20's idea when I first presented it to the group." Rebekah announces looking to Hayden on her right and Matt over Caroline's shoulder.
Caroline's jaw drops with a shocked expression, looking to Hayden before turning her gaze to Matt.
Only one word manages to come out of her mouth.
"TRAITORS!"
Matt shrugs innocently, "Bell bottoms and disco? I don't know, this just seemed cooler." Coming clean.
Rebekah leans over to Caroline with a smug expression. "
Caroline shifts her eyes towards Hayden looking for support of any kind.
Hayden throws up his hands shaking his head, "Hey, it ain't personal. Besides, why would I want to be a Gee Bee, when I can be Al Capone and get my total badass gangster self on?" Hayden adds onto the argument.
"You see this, right here!" Hayden says pointing up and down his body, "This, was made for a classic suit and a fedora, I may not pull off the kind that Indiana Jones does, but no offense Caroline the only thing I do like about the 70's is KISS one of the greatest bands in Rock & Roll, other than that sorry."
Caroline let's out a scoff turning back and forth between the two boys. Neither one backing her up, and honestly neither one want to get involved when she's like this.
"Whatever, have fun at your stupid dance." Caroline huffs before stomping off and out of the room.
Rebekah's eyes follow her competition out with a victorious smirk.
Hayden rolls his eyes he knows he's gonna regret this but he doesn't want to seem like he's being…picky at least, she isn't his his best friend, but Caroline is still a good friend that he doesn't want to feel he's stabbing in the back.
Hayden takes a step towards the doors, "Caroline?" He calls out after her, but he feels a hand in his right shoulder that stops him dead in his tracks.
He turns to see Matt, share a similar worried expression. "Don't worry, I'll go talk to her, alright." Matt offers.
Hayden just nods.
Matt jogs after her leaving all the other ordinary people on the committee and Hayden with Rebekah in the room.
He turns back, with his head hanging low and gets back to work un packing some boxes.
Rebekah makes her way over to him, "Don't let her get in your head, she'll get over it." She assures him, trying to offer some comfort.
He looks over his shoulder at the blonde, "Appreciate the pep talk l, if that's what you were going for there a second ago."
Rebekah sighs. "Mostly, although you and Caroline haven't been as chummy as you were when I first came back to Mystic Falls." She notes.
Hayden manages to get out a laugh at that, "That's because, back then we hadn't fucked yet." He explains with no regret at all.
Rebekah is take aback at his choice of words. "Well well, it appears that you mouth is still as dirty as ever, when using words like that."
"By the way, am I still waking ya back to your place after this?" Remembering that they tend to do that nowadays, as friends that is but he never goes past the front doors unless Klaus ain't home.
"Actually, if you don't mind…Matt offered to give me a ride back, today." Rebekah admits.
A questioning look makes it's way onto his face. "Say what now?…Since when did you and wannabe Tom Brady start hanging out?"
"I'll have you know I do as I please, remember? Besides, who am I to refuse an act of charity from a rather handsome boy, such as Matt." Rebekah informs her best friend.
Hayden chuckles, "You know, if that's your way of sugarcoating that this is some lame-ass attempt to kick start my jealousy, sorry to be a buzzkill but I don't do jealous, if anything I just don't trust him."
Rebekah arches her eyebrow, "Why, worried that Matt will find some way to exploit a weakness to take advantage of me, is that it?" She asks a little playfully, swatting his shoulder.
Hayden gives something between a sigh and a groan. "Bringing put a weakness and taking it, yeah. To take advantage of you, possibly yes, but not in the way that your thinking." He explains. Already knowing there's some sexual point included when it comes to Rebekah.
"Do you really believe they're still conspiring against us, even know what killing an original means now?" Rebekah quires, sounding deadly serious, and slightly worried. Considering if there is a microscopic chance that the Salvatore's and Elena might still be out to kill her.
He thinks it over he hasn't seen anything suspicious, but they ain't bad at acting either. "I don't know I mean…now that I've show kind of where I am in all this shit going on, they don't exactly fill me in on the details of their plans anymore, especially the ones that involve anyone dying, so he could just be using you for something or I don't know but, somethings off." Hayden claims, with a bad feeling stirring around in his gut.
Hayden sighs, "Just keep an eye out for yourself, okay?"
Rebekah smiles giving Hayden a quick kiss on the lips just a nice friendly one.
"I promise, I'll be careful." She assures him.
"See ya later." He waves before getting back to work with the decorations.
The day ends and Hayden went straight over the Salvatore place, to help out Stefan with Alaric's stubborn alter ego that he has a few ideas on how to smoke 'em out.
Sure enough Alaric and Stefan are talking about their dark sides and what they represent and all that shit.
"Not me, I'm the best of both world when it comes to the yin and yang, the dark and the light and so on."
"But if it comes down to it both of you promise me that you'll do whatever it takes to end me." Alaric requests.
Stefan and Hayden share a look.
"Well this is certainly depressing, isn't it?" A voice belonging to one Klaus Mikaelson, chimes in out of the blue.
"Oh and I uh….found this upstairs." Klaus adds waving the second to last white oak stake in his hand.
"Now by my count, there should be one more." Klaus reminds the two boys.
"Yeah, well, it's gonna take a little more time." Stefan tells him.
"Why, because we're waiting for that one to pass out?" Klaus questions pointing the stake to Alaric who's standing behind Stefan.
"No thanks, I think I'll just kill him." Klaus carelessly claims.
"Well, then you won't know the location of the other stake."
"I can live with that." Klaus joyously says stepping towards Alaric.
Stefan put a hand on his chest while Hayden grabs his shoulder. "That's a very bad idea, and I'd back down if I were you." Hayden warns.
"Need I remind you that it was you who came to me wanting to make a deal, if you expect me to live up to my end I suggest that you take your hand off me or I'll rip your grandmothers head off, and drain her elderly body dry." Klaus threatens.
This earns a menacing growl from Hayden.
Klaus turns back to Stefan, "Seeing as my failed hybrid already informed me as to the fatal consequences that follow the deaths of me and my siblings, now know that the fate of the entire vampire race rests in your hands and depends on you two finding that stake, and to get it we need you to pass out. Which means, I feel more than justified in doing this." Without warning Klaus blurs behind Alaric and breaks his neck dropping him.
"There, sleeping like a baby." He turns
"I'll leave him in your hands now."
"Has anyone ever told ya that you have very serious impulse control issues?" Hayden remarks before leaving.
Klaus stops and twists Hayden's arm snapping a few bones, eliciting a grunt of pain from the rogue.
"Be advised, our temporary alliance is getting thinner by the minute and I suggest if you want to maintain it then I'd shut that hole in your face effective immediately." Klaus compliances and is gone.
Luckily Hayden and Stefan managed to beat Alaric's other half to the surface who's now taunting the two supernatural beings, trying to get a ruse or reaction out of them.
"You know, you're all gonna burn." Hunter Alaric gleefully states.
Hayden has heard enough of this fucking bullshit, the hell with it. Hayden blurs behind Alaric and yanks his arm back with a loud cracking noise of his bones as he lets out a scream of pain.
"Just like that right, I mean I didn't know if you were talking about the burn of pain or just in general with fire, but since your being talkative right now I'd say it's definitely the former, now where were we?" Hayden sarcastically remarks holding his arm back behind him.
Stefan looks shocked and even worried, "Hayden, what the hell are you doing we need him alive to find that stake?!" The younger Salvatore chastises.
Hayden just smirks. "Oh come on Stef, I think be both know that this guy likes to play games, I'm just introducing him to some of mine, that's all." He explains.
Hayden leans down to Hunter Alaric who's currently panting out of pain on his knees on the ground. "And just for the record your currently losing, so if you want to plus your luck and play with me…you better start playing your damn cards better pal, cause I ain't fucking around when I'm all in, like I am now for example!"
With that Hayden slams his foot down on the back of Alaric's calf with a small crunch and a yell of pain.
Hayden eyes flash yellow and black and he brings out his fangs and walks around front and grabs Alaric's face hard that is bloody and beaten, and pulls it close.
He gives his former history teacher a dark smirk. "Now do you know why I'm called the 'Rogue Hybrid' or do I need give you some more…physical education?" He asks no humor evident in his tone whatsoever.
"Whatever makes you feel like a man, but deep down I think you know you're nothing other than a cowardly insecure little boy who likes to act like a tough badass to hide away his real pain."
"Alright, new game and your all in on this one pal, it's called the final countdown, with no ring this time there ain't no waking up, so I'm gonna count to three and if you manage to tell us where that stake is you win if not well hopefully you'll have a nice nap."
Hayden put his hands on either side of Alaric's face as if getting ready to snap his neck. Stefan watching cautiously not confident that Hayden will actually kill him.
"One…two-"
"It's in the cave, the one place where no vampire can go into." Alaric chokes out.
Score, Rogue Hybrid 1 - Hunter Alaric 0.
Hayden let's go and heads upstairs with Stefan where Klaus and Rebekah are both waiting in the living room.
"We know where it is." Stefan states.
"That wasn't so hard was it?"
Rebekah decided to go and get the stake and take Alaric along seeing that he's the one who knows…exactly where it is in that cave, and also since he's the only one who can enter since all other volunteers are busy at the moment. Although she did ask Hayden to join her because usually she prefers to do these kind of things herself.
"So what's the plan, why do you need me here, exactly we both know you can watch him just fine on your own?" Hayden asks being more confused than complaining.
"Can't be too careful, after all he is off to fetch the one thing on this planet that can actually kill me after all." Rebekah reminds.
Hayden tilts his head with a small nod, "That's true, by the way how'd it go with Matt?"
"I beg your pardon?"
Hayden gives her a look, "Matt he drove you back today, remember?"
Rebekah shakes her head brushing back a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
"Oh right, it was splendid more or less, Matt was rather sweet to me." Rebekah giggles.
Hayden scrunches his eyebrows together looking confused. The words 'Matt' and 'sweet' in the same sentence doesn't sound right, not only that but Rebekah seems a little passive about it, in his opinion. She's not one to let her guard down so easily.
Rebekah walks ahead as Hayden stops for a moment.
"Rebekah?" Hayden calls out, jogging up to her from behind.
As Rebekah turns around the first thing she sees is Hayden's lips being mashed onto her own in a kiss.
Hayden cups the side of Rebekah's face and puts more passion into the kiss feeling Rebekah returning it with as much effort as possible.
A minute later they break apart, Hayden still has his hand on her face. Rebekah slowly opens up her eyes a minute later, she stares at him curiously.
"What was that for?" She ask barely above a whisper.
He removes his hand from her face finally, "Just…for being there for me through all of this, it's nice to have a good friend to rely on, sorry if that seemed too forward, maybe I should have just hugged you instead." He jokes.
Rebekah manages a giggle at that, "Don't be ridiculous, we've already established that our relationship is strictly platonic, although I will always cherish the memories of the nights we shared together." Rebekah hints with a sensual look and a small shoulder nudge.
As she walked away she didn't see that strange look on Hayden's face as he looks to the ground and touches his lips before following after her.
The drive to the caves isn't that long and Rebekah has Hunter Alaric by the arm and Hayden following behind them to make sure he doesn't try anything.
They arrive at the cave where apparently no vampires can enter. Rebekah shoves him inside to get the stake from wherever he hid it.
Gladly he was telling the truth and pulled out the white oak stake from where it was hiding in a corner. But then as expected he tries to pull a double cross, sitting down on the casket inside the cave.
"Now, why would I give either of you the one thing that requires everyone to keep me alive?" Alaric asks the two of them waving the last stake around.
"Are we bargaining now?" Rebekah questions.
Alaric doesn't say anything. Hayden takes that as a 'yes'.
"Fine, name your price?" Rebekah offers.
"There's only one stake out there, which means only one Original has to die. If you help me, I'll make sure it's not you." Alaric pitches.
Hayden scoffs a laugh, "Gotta say sound like a nice offer even I don't want Rebekah here to be stake'd, but there's just one problem, aside from the fact that I've already got a deal with Klaus." Hayden claims.
Hunter Alaric shrugs, "Oh yeah, and what's that?" He asks carelessly.
Hayden shrugs and blurs around grabbing Rebekah by the throat slamming her against the cave wall with a roar.
"She's not Rebekah." He answers.
"Hayden, what in the bloody hell are you going on about, it's me?!" Rebekah quires completely dumbfounded.
"Nice try, but what your saying and what I'm feeling are two different things. You see that little lip-lock we had earlier, that was a test…and you failed, I know how Rebekah feels about me no matter what our current status is, and something was off the way you were kissing me, I felt you hesitate for a second." Hayden explains, his grip tightening around Rebekah's throat.
"Now I'm only gonna ask one more time, who the hell are you?" He asks with pure seriousness and demand in his tone.
The fearful expression on the blonde's face fades away and is replaced by one of confidence and looks impressed possibly.
"Astonishing…absolutely astonishing, your instincts and intuition continue to serve you well, Mr. Kerbex." The now confirmed imposter complements.
Hayden growls his eyes flashing yellow and black. "Stop, I'm blushing. Now back to the question, who…the…hell…are…you?!"
"Hmm, disappointing isn't it, how social interactions can be so fleeting in the memories of so many nowadays, you don't recognize me, from a personal perspective I'd consider anyone who reveals to someone their true heritage, quite memorable."
Hayden's eyes shoot wide opened in shock, it can't be her! Only one word manages to get out of his mouth.
"Esther?"
"In the flesh, figuratively speaking of course." Esther voiced through Rebekah reveals.
"What did you do to Rebekah, tell me, now!" Hayden demands unrestrained rage in his voice.
"You have nothing to concern yourself with, she's perfectly fine I merely transferred my spirit into my daughter's body where mine on the other hand is safely tucked away I can only imagine, considering the little talk Rebekah and I had earlier. Her sprit is currently dormant, until further notice."
"Might I say, mentioning that kiss…you surely do know how to make a lady feel young again, Hayden." Esther swoons.
The realization strikes Hayden, and definitely not in a good way knowing he technically made out with Rebekah's…Mom!
Hayden scrunches his face that is twisted with horror and disgust, "Oh God!…That's wrong in so many levels, I'm definitely gonna be sending you my therapy bills." Half gagging.
His expression returns to normal with some seriousness. "Well hate to break it to ya, Esther. But it's time to get back into your own body."
"I'm afraid I'm going to be unable to do that at the moment seeing as I have some unfinished business to attend to." Esther denies.
Hayden scoffs, "Ya mean killing your kids, The Originals…yeah well good luck with that, their unlinked, and also before you do anything you should know that if you kill any of your kids then the their entire bloodline dies too."
Esther contemplates that momentarily, "How unfortunate, sadly if that's the price that has to be paid to rectify my mistake by obliterate the entire vampire species from the face of this earth, and save my children from the monstrous creatures they've become, so be it. Also Niklaus may have managed to find a way to sever the bond between him and his sibilants, but you'll soon find that there are more than one way to kill the unkillable."
"Look I know that vamps ain't exactly saints, but they ain't exactly monsters either. There's always shades of grey…always, I'm living proof you said that's one of the perks of an Omega remember, neutral point of view."
"Your tedious efforts are truly touching Hayden, but there's two things you haven't been very mindful of your surroundings."
Before Hayden could question her further, Hunter Alaric slammed a rock down on the back of his head subduing him long enough for Esther to break free of the hybrid's grip using her temporary vampire strength she snaps Hayden neck and he hits the ground, dead…for a while anyways.
"You meant to do that all along, didn't you." Hunter Alaric assumes.
Esther shrugged, "Let's just say that this one is an unpredictable element we can't afford to have out and about when we put my plan into motion."
"I'm sorry…we?" Alaric question pointing between himself and Esther.
"You and I both have the same goal, a great deal in common you might say, only difference is that I don't want one original to die I want all the originals to die, and you're going to help me?" She asks.
Alaric's only response was a dark and sinister grin.
This is not good!
So here's what's going on I only have one class left for about a remaining 4 weeks excluding this one which would make 5 weeks but point being in that time I'm going to try and crank out at least 1 chapter per week so including the one from today that makes 5 chapters possibly 6 if I decide to squeeze in one extra. Then I have a 1 week break before the next quarter so if I'm lucky I'll try and get 3 out that week but I can't make promises although do expect 1 if anything that's the weekly standard.
Regarding this chapter I was inspired by Rebekah kissing Stefan back during her debut into the series where she kissed him to tell if something was wrong, so I thought I'd do the same for Hayden to tell that something was off about Rebekah.
I do feel that I've created a bit of a plot hole with the ending of this chapter that's why I try to watch the following episode from now on so I'm not trapped in the plot because I still got a whole other season to go.
I'm not going to post another Author's Note so below there's a simple two options that I have regarding to how long until this story is finished and you choose:
1)Go along with the entire season 4 plot line episode by episode.
Or
2)Skip ahead to certain parts of the season that lead to the finalie between Hayden and Katherine.
Please choose one because be advise including this week I only have 12 more weeks until the New Year which is when I hope to be done, and 6 more after that, so that's 18 maximum before my internship field experience starts, after that I can only to one shots or minimal chapter story's.
If you have further questions please PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can, otherwise hopefully this is still a story with some potential.
Until Next time!
