Here is chapter 2. still nervous. Still excited. Still writing ha. Don't own anything just my OC Fuego
Fuego sighed as he stared up at the ceiling. His wrists and ankles were bound to the bed he rested on. Beside him sat a dragon named Volteer; he identified himself as the electric guardian. He didn't care about the title thought. He just wanted the restraints off his limbs. He looked at Volteer with pleading eyes.
He asked again. "Please, can you take these off of me?"
Volteer felt for the small dragon in front of him. He was against the idea of restraining the dragon. But, Terrador was insistent that the dragon be restrained. It hurt to see the look the dragon had. It was a look of hopelessness; a look of a broken dragon. A look he once had as a prisoner of war. He shook his head again and said. "No." He apologized and explained. "I'm sorry but you must understand. You did cause a disturbance in this temple. And, more than a few of our students are angry at you."
Fuego could only sigh as he gazed back up at the ceiling. He never wished or wanted to feel like this again. To be bound down and have everything taken from you. These dragons were different than the ones he was used too. He shook his head trying to forget about them. He looked at Volteer again with a pleading look. But, instead of asking he simple held his small claw out to him. He watched as the dragon looked at his claw. Volteer nodded and gently placed his paw underneath his little claw. Allowing the small drake to gently hold onto him.
Volteer recognized a hold like this; he was all too familiar with it during his younger days. During the war when dragons lay dying on the ground. He was one of the unlucky few to hold a dying friend during their final moments. This was a hold a fear. A hold of wanting comfort. He spoke. "To hell with this."
Without a second thought he undid the straps that kept the drake bound to the table. As the last strap fell to the side; Fuego lifted both of his arms up and gazed at his claws. He then sat up and looked down at his legs. He rubbed his ankles a little before turning and sitting on the edge of the bed. He looked up at Volteer; who was staring down at him. He then stood up and walked up to the larger dragons leg. He hugged Volteer's leg.
He thanked him. "Thank you."
Volteer never thought he would hear such sadness in a voice again. Whatever this drake had gone through must have been terrible. Those damn apes! How dare they do something like this. To a dragon this size; he didn't know the his age. But, judging by the sound of his voice. He assumed that the drake was the age of adolescence. A teenager. He gently nuzzled the young drake.
He then said. "Be at ease young one. You're safe now."
Fuego nodded before he broke the hug and walked back over to the bed. He sat down and looked at Volteer before he said. "My name is Fuego."
Volteer paused a moment before realizing he had just answered a question from earlier. He reached for a scroll and pen he had set aside and wrote down the dragons name. He cleared his throat and replied. "A pleasure to meet you Fuego." He reintroduced himself. "Again, my name is Volteer. I am the guardian of electricity." Fuego nodded and he asked. "Can you tell me the name of your parents?"
Fuego looked down at his feet as he answered. "I don't know them."
Volteer nodded before apologizing. "I'm sorry to hear." He asked. "Can you tell me where you come from? Maybe we can."
He interrupted him. "I come from a bad place." Fuego shuddered before saying. "I don't want to talk about it."
Volteer nodded and marked it down in the scroll. Fuego showed all the signs of recently a escaped prisoner of war. Even after two years since the war had ended. Dragons older and even younger than him were still coming to the city. They were mostly abandon prisoners; left behind by the ape army. Left to die of hunger and thirst. It was horrible to see this; horrible to see dragons that looked like walking corpses. Thankfully, Fuego was not as unlucky as some of the dragons had seen. He wasn't malnourished or dehydrated. But, his size and physical appearance did concern him.
He asked. "Can you tell me what elemental are you?"
Fuego answered. "What do you mean?"
Volteer replied. "What elemental are you? You're power. Fire, earth, electricity, ice. Or are you one of the new elements that have emerged?"
It took him a moment before he realized what Volteer was asking him. He shook his head and answered. "I don't have an element like all of you. I am a melee dragon."
Volteer asked. "A what?"
He answered. "A melee dragon." He explained. "Unlike your species. My species has no connection to the elements. We also don't grow bigger than fully grown apes and we don't grow wings." He motioned towards his items that had been set to the side of the room and continued. "We do make up for it with use of weapons."
Volteer nodded before asking. "You said "Your species.". Can you tell me what you meant by that.?" He noticed the nervous look on Fuego's face; he spoke calmly. "I am in no way offended. I am a dragon of science."
Fuego had to keep himself from shuddering. He gulped as he answered. "As I said I am a melee dragon. To my kind you are known as an elemental." He heard Volteer write more words on the scroll. He continued. "As you said you are the guardian of electricity. Right?"
Volteer nodded and confirmed. "Yes." He asked him. "Do you have guardians."
Fuego nodded. "We do." He quickly said. "I don't want to name them."He then apologized. "I'm sorry. It's just."
Volteer stopped him. "You do not need to explain yourself." He finished up writing down the last bit of information. He looked at him and said. "I will not restrain you again. But, please, can you wait here till I return. I must speak with Terrador." Fuego nodded and he thanked him. "Thank you."
He then turned and walked out of the room. Fuego simply layed back down; he turned on his side and curled himself into the fetal position. He began to tremble a little; as he shut his eyes. He could still hear it.
Spyro continued to stare down at the book in front of him. Why did that dragon hug him earlier and how did he know Cynder? Since that moment in the foyer; that was the only thing on his mind. Why did he call him Geo? Who was that? He had a number of question running through his mind. He gasped as he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. He turned to look and see who it was. Flame was passing him a note.
He checked to make sure Cyril wasn't looking before carefully grabbing and unfolding the note. It read. "Everything okay?"
Spyro quickly wrote back. "Just curious? Tell you more after class." He went to hand the note back.
Cyril spoke up. "Spyro, Flame. If you're both going to pass notes during my class. I recommend you be more discreet." He turned around to see both dragons frozen in horror. The other students soon looked at them. He then asked. "Care to share with the rest of the class?"
Flame sighed before standing up and answering. "I was only asking Spyro if he was okay." He noticed the look Cyril was giving him and he continued. "He seemed and just wanted to know what was up."
Cyril looked at Spyro and asked. "Is this true, Spyro?" He saw the young dragon nod before asking. "Well, what seems to be more important than learning about our history?"
Spyro shook his head before standing up. "Nothing, Cyril. I'm still stuck on what happened earlier."
Cyril understood what he meant before saying. "Say no more Spyro." He instructed both of them. "You both may sit down now." They sighed in relief before sitting back down at their desks. It was then Cyril said. "Three page essay from both of you. Current chapter. On my desk tomorrow."
Both of them sighed heavily; Spyro did give Flame a glare. While Flame only smiled nervously. After the class was over; Spyro went to go meet up with Cynder in the courtyard. Both of them had a free period before their next class. Sometimes they would meet in the courtyard or in the library. They would talk with each other; either about assignments or just chat with one another. The moment he entered the courtyard; he saw her waving at him. He waved back as he walked up to her.
When he was close enough; she smiled and hugged him before saying. "Hey, Spyro."
He smiled and replied. "Hey, Cynder." He sat beside her before asking. "How has your classes been?"
She rolled her eyes before replying. "Both interesting and boring." She chuckled before asking. "How about yours?"
He answered. "About the same." He then told her. "Flame and me got caught passing notes again."
She looked at him with a deadpanned look before saying. "Again." She shook her head before asking. "Didn't you learn anything the last time you both got caught?" She saw the nervous look he gave her. She asked. "What was it about this time?"
Spyro replied. "He was only asking if I was okay."
Cynder asked him. "He couldn't wait till after class?"
He answered. "The reason why he asked was because I was thinking about that other dragon."
She replied. "Oh." For a moment the two were silent; before she asked. "Are you worried about him?"
Spyro sighed as he nodded and answered. "A little." He questioned. "Who's Geo and how did he know your name?"
Cynder shook her head. "I'm not sure. I've never met him before."
He asked her. "Do you think he remembers?" He stopped before he finished his question. He vowed to never bring up that part of her past. She gave him a sad smile. He frowned before gently nuzzling her and apologizing. "Sorry."
She replied. "It's okay." She then said. "I don't think he remembers me like that. The way his voice sounded; it was like he had just seen a friend after a long time." She explained. "Like that time we ran into Sparx."
The moment she said his brothers name he smiled happily. It had been a year after Malefor had fallen. Both of them were asked to retrieve some supplies for the temple. They were in the market and as they walked; he appeared almost out of no where. A happy smile on his face. That had to be the second time she saw Spyro so happy. He was crying as his brother hugged his nose. That was also the day he found out that he was also an uncle.
Spyro chuckled at the happy memory before he asked her. "Do you want to go see him?"
She thought about it for a moment before she nodded. He smiled and the two stood up and started to walk to the infirmary. Thankfully most of the dragons attending the academy were either in the courtyard or at the mess hall. It didn't take them long to reach the room. Spyro gently knocked on the door; he waited a moment before gently pushing the door open.
They walked into the room; they saw him resting on one of the beds inside. The way he laid he seemed to be cold or possibly in some form of pain. They looked at each other before walking close to him. He didn't seem to hear them walking closer. Well that was what they thought until they heard him say. "Hurts." His voice was barely above a whisper.
They walked a little bit faster after hearing him say that. Was he in some form of pain? No, he couldn't be the crystal wasn't glowing. That meant he was fully healed. When they were close enough they saw their answer. He was crying heavily as he slept; he was having a nightmare. Spyro looked at Cynder; she had a look of sorrow. Seeing the dragon like this reminded her how she was the first few months at the temple. How she was plagued by nightmares in her sleep. She nodded and Spyro placed a gentle paw on the drakes shoulder. He saw him pull his shoulder back.
He spoke in a gentle tone to him. "Hey, it's okay." He slowly touched the drake shoulder again. The drake sobbed a little before he continued. "You're just having a bad dream; just wake up you're okay."
Fuego called out. "Geo?" His eyes started to open; at first he just saw blotches of color. As his eyes blinked into focus he asked. "Geo, is that you?" After a few more blinks he was able to see clearly. He saw the sad face of the dragon from earlier. At first he thought it was him but after a few seconds of silence he remembered what had happened earlier. He greeted the dragon. "Hi?" He was a little nervous.
Spyro smiled before replying. "Hi." He asked him. "Are you okay?"
Fuego nodded before answering. "Yes." He started to sit up.
Cynder gently pushed him back down. "You don't need to get up. We just wanted to check on you."
He looked at her curiously before asking. "Who are you?"
Both of them looked at each other; didn't he just say her name earlier. She answered him. "My name is Cynder."
Spyro introduced himself. "And, I'm Spyro."
Fuego smiled before replying. "Nice to meet you both. My name is Fuego." He same both of them smile at him.
Cynder asked. "Fuego, do you know me?"
He shook his head. "No, I'm sorry for the confusion earlier."
She was surprised by his answer. She informed him. "But, you said my name earlier."
He shook his head before saying. "No, I didn't." He explained. "The name I said was Synder. With a S not a C."
She replied. "Oh." She was both relieved and surprised to here she almost shared a name with another dragon.
Before anymore could be asked or said the door to the infirmary opened. The three looked and saw both Volteer and Terrador walk in. Volteer smiled before saying. "Ah, Spyro, Cynder, pleasure to see you both." He asked. "Checking in on Fuego?"
Both of them nodded as Terrador looked at Fuego and asked. "Do you remember me?"
Fuego nodded and answered. "Yes, sir." He then apologized. "I'm sorry for the trouble I caused earlier."
Terrador brought up his paw and interrupted him. "You don't need to apologize." He explained. "You are not the first one to do something like that and you're probably not going to be the last." He chuckled a little before he said. "Volteer has told me about you. I am a little curious but I also want to know if you are feeling okay."
Fuego nodded and answered. "I'm fine." He tried to apologize again. "Again sorry for earlier."
Terrador shook his head before saying. "Again, no need to apologize." He then asked. "Fuego, I'm sorry for the things you were put through. But, I can promise you things are going to get better." He smiled before informing him. "I know this may be sudden. But, we would like for you to enroll here in our academy."
Fuego asked. "Academy? Is that like a school?" He saw Terrador nod. This was too good to be true. Back there he wasn't. He nodded and nearly shouted. "I'd be happy to enroll here!" Spyro and Cynder jumped back at his suddenly outburst. He smiled sheepishly before apologizing. "I'm sorry."
Terrador chuckled a little before saying. "Well then. Let me show you to a room and then we can show you the classes."
Fuego nodded in excitement; he couldn't believe any of this. He smiled happily as he followed Terrador. The other followed them; Volteer was excited to see a new student. Especially one that seemed very eager to learn. He was still curious though about his species. Melee dragons? He wondered why he had never heard about them before.
