Chapter 9

As dawn broke not a bot spoke a word as the rising sun itself was quickly being blocked by what looked like from this distance a swarm of cyberbees. It wasn't a swarm of cyber bees; they all knew what it truly was. His yellow optics looked at the swarm with fear. He could hear some bots praying to primus. Silverbolt looked back at the rest of them. "As Optimus would say, let's transform and roll out or in this case fly out." Silverbolt said, trying to raise morale. That's when they all left what seemed like the safety of the ground and towards the swarm of death and destruction. The first bots to go anywhere near the swarm were the wreckers a cycle ago to infiltrate the lead decepticon warship. They had been informed that wreckers had made it. Beside him a blue bot was shot down. He knew that he was the first of many more to fall. After that silverbolt ordered them spread out and stick next to their assigned wing mates. His wing mate was a younger bot. He thought she would have died early on even with his protection but she did fine. As he was distracted shooting at another bot he noticed his wing mate get shot by an incoming seeker. He caught her before she fell to her doom and set her down on the ground. "TRAITOR! I'LL KILL YOU!" An all too familiar voice yelled. It occurred to him that the seeker had probably been aiming for him, not his wing mate. He looked around hoping to primus his suspicion was wrong. "Zak" he felt something pierce through his wing. "How does it feel Kickscream because that's how it felt when I was told of what you did!" The voice shouted again from behind him. Slag everything to unicron he hated being right. He turned around to face his brother. "Slag." he said under his breath. "It looks like I didn't even have to break one of your servos. You've already managed to lose a servo since you betrayed us." Whiplash snarled while he pointed at his arm. Whiplash had curled his mouth into an almost insane expression that looked happy, angry, and outright deranged. He didn't want to fight his brother but if push truly did come to shove he wouldn't hesitate to defend himself and the people of this planet from his brother's wrath. He lifted his arm up firing at his brother. "Is that all you got is a lousy gun hand. Pathetic from the moment we came from the well of sparks I knew I'd extinguish your spark I also knew you'd die without a single spark fighting beside you." His brother hissed. Every word that came from his brother hit him like daggers. "I'm sorry Whiplash." He said as stared behind him. "He isn't alone and he never will be as long as my spark burns brightly within my chest!" Goldflight said from behind Whiplash. "Slagghhhhaagh!" Whiplash screamed as Goldflight cleaved him in half with her flaming longsword. He rushed over to him. Even though he tried killing him he was still his brother. Goldflight didn't have to say anything; she knew he still loved her with all his spark. "I'm sorry this had to happen." He said with a whimper. Goldflight placed a hand on his shoulder. He could tell she was trying to comfort him but he knew behind her calm expression she was devastated at what just happened as at one point the three of them had been close. He looked up at her and smiled and put a hand on her leg. "We will get through this together honey." He said with a sad smile. She nodded in agreement.

Amongst the chaos of what just occurred he barely noticed the enemy fire. "We gotta get to my squad so you can inform the other fliers that you and her are safe." Goldflight said. He stood up from the now faded corpse and walked over to his wing mate and picked her up. It seemed like she was in stasis lock now. He knew that to be a great sign. He turned taking one last look at the faded husk that was once his brother. If he was a religious bot he'd have prayed that he was one with the allspark and not in the pits.
