Chapter 9: The knight Vs the Calamity

"Preparations are okay now, Link may enter into the capsule" said the doctor once the capsule was calibrate and prepared for usage, Link nodded as he entered inside, the capsule started to seal up, Link crossed his legs as he sit down, the interior of the capsule started to fill up with a strange liquid, Link put the oxygen mask on and soon his capsule was full of that strange liquid

"The healing process will end in three hours" a voice from the CPU echoed through the room, Fay looked at the capsule and the doctor then said " it will take a while, maybe you should go meet the general, maybe your friends are already on their way?"

( General's office)

" Hi general" Fay greeted the general with a gloomy face, Peppy then answered " Fay, what's wrong? I thought that you would feel ok with the human boy recovering his full strength"

Fay then had a slight shiver and said " I dunno, I feel like something bad is going to happen, like an earthquake" Peppy then thought to himself for a moment and said " I know, I can feel it too, its like if every part of my being wanted to hide far away, but I believe it's the uncertainty of what's gonna happen, since that black energy appeared in the Lylat system, as well as other solar systems have struggle for survival, that thing disappears and reappears anywhere"

Fay then asked " you believe what Fox told you right?"

Peppy then said " yes, I do believe in magic, long ago, when it was a team of three members, Slippy, Fox and I, we had a mission on Sauria, a forgotten planet in a lost corner of the universe, there we met Krystal, the force stones, the Krazoa spirits, we saw how the greatest criminal in our history returned to life, then I realized that… magic was real, and, as much as magic can be something of fables and wonders, it means that those evils beings and dark powers are also real, but as much as I believe them, without solid proof, I can't do anything, how could I explain to the committee that I ordered a full scale search in a planet for a magic sword capable to repel a demon that it's actually that black energy"

Fay let out a sigh and said " True enough, all of this seems like a dream, but I've seen giant mechanical beings built from something different to our science" Peppy then asked " what do you think of all this, as much as I believe this story, it is hard to believe that a kid like him is the warrior that will stop this evil"

Fay then said " that's not totally correct, Link's role is to face that thing, and with the help of the machines called divine beasts, he has to weaken it so Krystal can use her new powers"

Peppy put his elbows on his desk and taking a thinking pose said " once the kid recovers his memory he will be the key witness to explain what is that thing and how to fight it"

Suddenly an alarm started to sound through the entire facility and a voice echoed through the speakers "alert, alert, evacuate immediately the facility, all staff go to the escape ships now!All soldiers prepare to fight!The black fenomenon is here, protect every civilian and the general!"

Peppy and Fay were surprised and Peppy said " what!? impossible, we would've detected its energy sygnature! how d-" suddenly a tremor started to shake the military base, and beams started to fall on the base, another voice echoed through the general's comm " emergency emergency, something's wrong, our ships and bots are turning against us, we can't fight! we need a back up plan!, wait, no RX661! What are you doing? wahhh!"

The transmission was cut off, Peppy then said " come, we need to evacuate now!" Fay then said " we can't leave Link here, he's in the capsule" Peppy answered " it's too dangerous, but… okay, you go to the med bay, take this" Peppy gave Fay an ID card and continued " use this to have access to every area, find a way to ask for help and find a ship without a Navigation system" Peppy took his blaster from his holster and opened the door, a few robots entered into the room trying to attack them, their visors and own light were pinkish, Peppy blasted them with his blaster and said " move it!" and went away.

Fay then recovered herself and started to run through the halls trying to get to the med bay, but a tank type of vehicle blasted through the walls and started to shoot the scientists and soldiers, leaving no survivors from its massacre, Fay shoot with her blaster but no avail, the hull was too strong to pierce with a mere blaster, the vehicle started to shoot at her but avoiding the beams she managed to slip away under the vehicle to the other side of the hall and ran as fast as she could, the machine soon lost interest and pushed forward trying to kill more people.

Soon Fay managed to get into the med bay, the doctor and her assistants that she saw a few hours ago were already dead, their bodies had deep cuts on many parts of their body, then she noticed a med bot holding a scalpel dripping in blood, it tried desperately to get Fay but she dodge it and blown its head with her blaster, the sound of metal beings soon started to echo through the hall and with the General's ID she sealed the door, went to the capsule and saw that there were needed another 30 minutes, then she tried to use the Comm system on the med bay to call for help, the machine looked corrupted covered in a strange dark goo, she managed to get the Comm system functioning, and tried to contact her team, fortunately, she managed to get in contact with them but the signal was bad, almost desperate and scared of what she just witnessed she tried to talk as soon as she saw the image of her team on screen

" This is Fay!,Star Fox, do you read me?! Fox please!Do you read me?!" Then Fox answered "we read**** What's going on?" The transmission started to go blurry

Fay then stated" We're under attack here on Corneria!Ganon appeared out of nowhere and Link's still recovering on the capsule!Send help!We can't fight it!" Suddenly the screen went black, Fay breaking in tears tried to make it function again " come on! come on!, don't do this to me now!, not now!`` The robots started banging the door, the metal started to bend due to the great strength of the strikes, Fay took her blaster and braced herself.

(Great Fox)

Fox and the team were unable to believe their eyes, the planet was being swallowed in darkness by Ganon, Fox then asked " come on guys can't we do anything?!"

Purah then came out of the lab area with Slippy and said " I got it! Ganon took over control of the guardians, the divine beasts and possibly the machines of your world because they had A.I, machines with intelligence and no will were easily overcome by the corruption, we need to use flying machines without A.I!"

Falco then said " for real? if we fly without any navigation system we're going in blind"

Fox then said " Falco's right we can't risk everyone's life, only two must go, one will give Link a weapon and back up, and the other will help the evacuation" Krystal jumped and said " I'll go,even now I can fight some of Ganon's power with my own!" Fox then said" alright, I'll go too and help the civilians"

Slippy then said " I already took the liberty to remove the nav systems so be careful guys" Fox gave Slippy a thumbs up and headed with Krystal to their ships and blasted off as soon as they could.

( Med bay, Cornerian military base)

Fay had been fighting the robots as much as she could but they kept coming up,a few were navigation bots, others were medical bots, not real fighters but strong nonetheless, soon the alarm on the capsule went off, the timer had reached zero and the capsule opened up with Link drenched in the healing liquid, all of his scars disappeared and with new strength he came out as the liquid spilled everywhere, he step in front of Fay who was with tears on her face, before of sheer fear and now with hope by seeing her knight up, Link took a bloody scalpel on the floor and holding it as a sword he darted against the robots, even at a higher speed. He ,in mere moments, scraped the robots.

Fay couldn't believe her eyes until he got close to her and as he kneeled down and wiped her tears told her " thanks for covering me, now it's my turn"

Fay then nodded and as Link got up he gave her a hand to get up too, she went to a corner where they left Link's clothes the hylian pants, the boots, the saddlebag on his belt, a shirt, the champion's tunic and gauntlets, Link then asked " how bad is it?" Fay then said " Ganon is killing everyone and our ships and machines are being used against us" Link nodded and with his head, he signaled her to follow him as he kept the scalpel in his hand, Fay followed him closely.

they ran at a medium pace so they could move fast but not to get tired unnecessarily, as they find some resistance Fay would shoot at the robots as Link would cut through them with the scalpel, soon they were able find other survivors being chased by robots, Link couldn't ignore them and jumped in to help them, Fay guided the survivors to the route to the shelter to escape , Link and Fay tried to find more survivors as they were destroying robots soon they found themselves against two tank type vehicles but before they could react, they were blown up, surprised they looked into the smoke and saw a feminine figure, it was Krystal with a sniper rifle.

Krystal then saw them and said " what a relief to see you guys, we feared the worst" Link turned around to see if an enemy could be near, Fay then said " yeah well, we almost didn't make it" Krystal then called Link and said " hey, I think this is yours" and handed him a royal broadsword and a royal guard shield and said " this shield was made by Purah at the Great Fox, she says that it may not hold up well enough in long battles but it has high defense" Link nodded as he accepted the equipment, Krystal then handed Link another sheikah slate and said " we made a copy for you Link"

Fay then asked "can you restore Link's memory?"

Krystal then said " I need a safe place, let's reunite with Peppy and Fox, we need to abandon the planet " Link shook his face in disapproval, Fay then said " whatever we do, can we first go with the general? we're an easy target here" Link nodded as he could see a ship crashing in the ceiling and started to charge up for a shot, Link could only yell " RUN!" as they turned around and ran as fast as they could far from the reach of the corrupted ship.

Finally, the group managed to get to the evacuation zone where every civilian of the city was evacuated and Fox along other soldiers were taking out the navigation system of the ships so they couldn't be turned by Ganon. Peppy's face was beaming as he saw Fay safe from danger, they gave themselves a hugh, Link then could take ease on his breath, Krystal then turned Link around to face her and said " well, Purah has plenty of faith on your skills and memories, want me to restore your memory?" Link nodded and Krystal then said " alright, lay down on my lap, I'll handle it" Link nodded and took his shield and sword out of his back as he laid down on Krystal's lap, then she put her hands on both sides of Link's head.

Krystal then said " close your eyes and relax" Link then closed his eyes and relaxed and tried to sleep a bit.

From her hands a strange blue glow started to appear and her eyes took the same glow, Link's face turned from a calm one to one filled with pain, slightly moaning in pain, Krystal then said without changing her expression "relax, the more memories, more stress will be put on your mind, you need to calm down to complete it as painless as possible"

Link tried to keep calm but the pain was rising, Fay then sat a side of Link and took his hand on hers, and tried to sooth him, Link managed then to calm a bit, the pain slowed down, as the two tried to keep the stress to minimum, a few minutes passed and Krystal finished her treatment and the glow stopped, Link fell unconscious and unresponsive, Fay worried asked " is he…?" Krystal shook her head and said " no, the process is always exhausting, he just fell asleep, he will wake up in a few minutes" breathless and without trying to move Link away from her lap she just laid her back on the floor and closed her eyes, falling asleep instantly.

Fox then appeared from the ships and said " alright, the space ships are ready to blast off, but we need something to distract Ganon, and miss the evacuation"

Peppy then said " maybe but, our soldiers aren't capable of lasting long enough against our entire weaponry while the others escape and besides, who would willingly stay behind while the rest escapes?"

From a corner appeared a cornerian dog, his fur was gray, wearing green pants, iron-like boots, a green vest, a gray jacket with the logo of the Cornerian army on the back and a green pilot helmet with a dark visor covering his eyes, said "I can distract those machines long enough, death won't be coming for me that easily".

Fox then looked and smiled and said " Bill Grey, son of a gun, always in the eye of the storm don't you?"

Bill took his helmet off revealing his green eyes, and said " you know it Fox, I won't run away from such a challenge"

Peppy then interrupted " Bill, you and your unit always were the very best soldiers, but now, you're the only survivor of your unit, and only one fighter won't be enough"

Fox then said " well, then, how 'bout two fighters, Bill and I are very well capable to take down an army by ourselves even without a ship"

Peppy a bit worried answered " I'm not sure Fox, Fara would kill me if something happens to you because of me"

" make it three" Link said as he woke up from his slumber, now his look seemed different, he stand up and said "I've taken out hundreds of monsters before, the three of us can challenge this calamity and survive while you escape, Krystal can use a shield so they can hide their presence away from Ganon as you escape and we distract him"

Fay worried said " but, it's too dangerous, just three against that, and you don't even have anything to really harm it!"

Fox interrupted " while its true that we can't really kill it, we can beat it, and besides, after restoring Link's memory Krystal is in no state to fight, you must run, we'll escape on Bill's old space ship that the cornerian army took from Andross army back at the Lylat wars"

Fay took Link's hand and said " please… Link… I'' Link then interrupted her " I'll be back, be careful on your way out" Fay blushed and hugged Link for a few minutes, Link caressed her head and then they split up in their plans.

The three heroes step outside into the central Plaza of the base, there robots and all kinds of vehicles airbones and tanks came up immediately, the sky filled up in a reddish color and Ganon's silhouette visible through the moon's light, Link took his sword and shield in hand, Fox prepared his blaster and reflector, Bill took his blaster from his holster and a rapier beam with his other hand , Fox then said " hey Link, you sure you can cut through those vehicles with a sword?" Link smiled and answered " you worry for your own hide, we need to destroy as many enemies as we can"

The three darted in three seperate directions, Fox would take on the aircrafts with his special blaster, Bill would take care of the robots and Link would smash the tanks, the robots started to surround Bill, fast and steadily he slashed every robot on his wake, some of the robots took distance and with rifles started to shoot against Bill , but he managed to dodge every round and return the fire with his own blaster, Fox on his end used his reflector to deflect the laser beams of the ships while his two handed blaster charged up for a red energy blast, and without delay he shot the ships down, one at a time, but the more ships he would shot down even more showed up, Fox starting to feel overwhelmed said " dang it!, these guys don't give up!" Bill dodging shots added " we must hang on a bit longer, don't give in!"

Link would face the tanks and sturdier bots made for defense, a strange wind gathered around the blade of his sword, at the moment he started to slash a strange wind blade would come up to slash an even larger area, his movements were now different, what before were basic sword slashes now were more complete combos and with a strange razor wind coming up from his blade the damage output was even higher, soon the tanks started to crumble and explode from internal damage to their cores the robots would try to slam Link but without effort he avoid them, another tank coming up from behind shot a round against Link but reacting to the sound he turned around in the middle of a slash and with his shield he repelled the beam with a shield attack turning against the tank blowing it up as it entered through the same barrel it was shot.

More and more robots came their way, as the hours passed. From Fox's communicator a voice sounded, it was Krystal's voice "Fox, we made it out….. hope you… see you in…." the interference caused by the cataclysm still jammed the signal but it was clear enough for them to know it was time to retreat.

The three heroes would blast away with some bombs a way out through the hordes of corrupted machinery, Bill looking through the masses of metal chasing them saw an old warehouse and said "there!, in that building is the venomian ship"

Fox then asked while running"are you sure it wasn't corrupted by ganon?"

Bill grinned and said" c'mon who you think I am?, I modified that ship to my liking, no navigation system, no A.I to control anything, I was preparing it to fly some space races around sargasso, but you know"

Fox grinning said "the general surprised you and forbid you to participate as it would soil the reputation of the cornerian army?" Bill nodded with a smile.

Link then asked " tell me at least it can run currently" Bill said the three reached the doors of the warehouse, Link and Fox looked at Bill, then Bill answered"the thing is… I never had the chance to test it, you might say this is the very first time…. I… uh… even started the engines…"

In disbelief Fox facepalmed himself, Link just sighted and said "well…. no time like the present to test our luck, right?"

Bill grinned and said "of course, let's go to the other side!"

Fox then looked at Link and said "he could have…. used another choice of words…."

as the corrupted machinery moviliced to their location, the three hopped into the ship, and even though it was planned for one monkey pilot, the three lads managed to get into the ship barely, Bill would try to fly but it was hard to breathe or see anything but the two morons on his face squirming on their already small space, the ship's engine started up and the ship itself rose up, a few tanks shot the doors blasting them away, giving them the perfect chance to boost their way through.

Now in the sky the ship flew hunted by the whole space armada corrupted by Ganon's will, however Bill's piloting skills were better than Ganon's improvised control from complex machinery the group managed to get out of the planet's atmosphere, almost out into space, but the base launched tracking missiles, Bill wouldn't be able to dodge them as they look for heat and they were too far from the meteo area, Link then asked "no one have a shield ability, right?" Fox then said "" I think that stone guy, Daruk gave me something called Daruk's Shield"

Link then smiled and said "perfect! Daruk once told me how he could summon the shield, the barrier is a manifestation of your willpower, the stronger your will is, the stronger the shield is, focus, and imagine a gem encasing us, and let your burning spirit burn!" Fox listened, he closed his eyes, and started to mumble "imagine a gem, enclosing us…. let my burning spirit burn" as he breathed deeply a red barrier surrounded the ship

Link then said "perfect, keep at it!" one of the missiles then clashed against the barrier, the ship shook but no damage, but the barrier started to crack" Fox started to breathe heavily, Link then said " don't give up, focus, the shield is the only thing that keeps us from dying in this place!"

Fox kept his focus, the other missiles clashed on the barrier cracking it even more, Fox gritting his teeth in pain and determination, kept the barrier as the ship flew away from the planet.

At last, the ship was in deep space, far from Ganon's reach, who remained in Corneria. Fox's communicator started to emit a voice, it was Fay's " Fox? Link? Are you guys okay? please respond!"

Fox wiggled through the cockpit with the others bothering his movement answered " Fox here, we made it out alive and in one piece"

Fay's voice sounded again in the communicator" phew… that's a relief, when we were leaving I could see the explosions and shots coming from the main plaza in the base, I feared for the worst, is Link safe with you?"

Link took Fox communicator and answered " yeah, I'm fine, don't worry, I promised you that I would be back"

Fay then said " I know, I'm glad to know that you're okay, um, guys? Purah want to talk to you"

Fox immediately answered"give her the communication"

Purah's voice boomed through the communicator" GUYS! we found them!"

Fox feeling pain on his eardrums saint "okay okay, but don't yell at us!, anyway, what did you guys find"

Purah then answered "searching through the information that we got from the others, we now have a promising lead about the master sword, if our info is correct, then the sword should be at the great forest "

Link then said "perfect, as soon as we reach Hyrule we'll get into searching"

Fox surprised asked "what?, you expect us to fly straight to your planet with this thin can?"

Bill interrupted "well, we have enough fuel, and we are far from the Great Fox anyway, which is already incourse to the planet, so we might as well pick up the pace and go now"

Fox sighted in despair as he would be stuck to the other two in such a tight place and said " just go max speed, if we're lucky we'll crash into a meteor or something"

Bill grinned and said " that's the spirit!"

and then the ship accelerated to max speed into Link's planet entering into hyper space.
