I woke up to someone shaking me hard. "Five more minutes," I moaned, rubbing my eyes sleepily. "Felice, your breakfast has been sitting on the kitchen table for the past twenty minutes. It's probably icy cold by now." I groaned but sat up. I groggily clambered out of bed and wandered around my room until I found a rumpled t-shirt and some clean shorts. I have to admit, I wasn't a very tidy person. I always had stuff scattered all over my bedroom carpet and I usually left it all as it was, well except for the rare occasions when Mom yelled for me to pick it up. I trudged downstairs and into the kitchen. I found Dad sitting in his armchair, with Jessie - his wolf pup - nestled on his lap. Dad loved Jessie. Since he was a child, he had always wanted a wolf pup of his own. So he had been absolutely thrilled when Mom had agreed to let him adopt one last month. Now he was obsessed with her, and treated her almost like a second child.

I smiled and tickled Jessie under her chin as I passed. Then I sat down at the table. Mom was right. My breakfast was cold. I quickly held my hands over it and murmured: "Incendiatas." After a while my muffie sausages were ready. I used to be part of a mage guild, until one of their mage trials went horribly wrong, resulting in many deaths. After that my parents had both convinced me to quit. Now I tried to use my limited abilities as often as possible so as not to forget them.

I took a huge bite of my sausage and chewed appreciatively. "These are really good!" Dad glanced up. "Your Mom made them. You can thank her when she gets home." I was about to ask home from where, when I remembered that Mom had a meeting with the masters cancel today. My Mom had been appointed as Master of Water after Indra Frost. She had been delighted and had accepted the position. However this job did mean that she was away from home a lot, helping people in towns suffering from drought, going to important meetings, and some other stuff. I wasn't exactly sure what my Mom had to do, just that it was important.

Presently I nodded at Dad and then stood up. I scratched Jessie behind her ears before heading outside, deciding that this was going to be another long day.
